Problems with 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 STRUCTURE

I purchased the vehicle in 2006, shortly thereafter, i began to notice pieces of plastic laying on the floor. it was my belief that the children were breaking the plastic until i was driving and a large piece of the dash simply fell to the floor. this problem has persisted to the point where i am afraid to drive the vehicle anymore. i am afraid because the dashboard appears to be detached from the body, the way it gyrates about vigorously. i am afraid that the airbags will be activated or the dash will fall to my lap while driving . *tr

2000 dodge 1500 quad cab 4x4 dashboard cracking. the vehicle has 82k on it. it has be garaged since purchase. the dashboard is falling apart though there has never been any damage to the vehicle. *tr

I bought a 2000 dodge ram 1500 yesterday 12/26/08 as a christmas present for myself and as i was driving home later that day at 10:30 pm and the hood of the truck all of a sudden came up and hit the windshield, causing me to hit the brakes at come to a stop on a busy road. *tr

The dashboard in my 2000 dodge ram 1500 pickup just started cracking for no reason a while back and has now degraded to the point that a large piece of the dashboard fell off exposing the inner dash area. my research has shown this to be a large scale issue with dodge ram pickups and other chrysler vehicles. *tr

The whole dash on my 2000 dodge ram 1500 has caved in leaving jagged edges everywhere and my electrical wires exposed. smaller pieces sometimes fall into the air vents and blow out into my face. the problem started with cracks and by november 2008, the dash was almost completely gone. *tr

While driving done the road at 45 mph, hood unexpectedly opened, blocking my view of the road and causing my windshield to smash. immediate inspection of safety latch showed that it was not working correctly due to built up rust. windshield and hood will need to be replaced, along with saftey latch. (all damaged parts are available for now). *tr

As the truck was being driven down the road, approx. 40 mph the hood of the truck flipped up and off. the hood was hanging off the side of the truck. *tr

Dash board had crumbled and fall off from the dash. now there is an open space at my dash. it is unfair they made this kind of dash board weak and selling it at the cost of $800.00 dlls to replace it. we pay for a truck that is build to last. and still here we have a dash that just broke by adding armor and a rag to clean it up. still they put commercials that is the best truck with the best warranty and failed to replace it. *tr

While driving down the road, the hood latch on my 2000 dodge ram 1500 released. this caused the hood to fly up, crashing into the windshield. the windshield shattered, the hood twisted beyond repair, and the hood springs were completely mangled. i found an article on consumer affairs showing that there have been 30 consumer complaints regarding the same incident. we have filed a claim w/ the insurance company for severe damages. *tr

My dashboard was completely destroyed by the sun and heat ( 2008). it started as cracks and morphed into pieces falling apart. i asked dodge in 2008 if they was any recalls and the responded no. i could have it replaced for apprx 600 usd. its now 2016 and i finally had my dash replaced with a new aftermarket piece that is made with plastics thst are designed to withstand sunlight and heat. why is dodge allowed to produce a product that fails so easily and not held responsible? there should be releif for the owners !!

Dodge ram 1500 pickups have two expensive/serious problems. (1) the air-conditioner evaporators under the dash fail and (2) the dash itself cracks in several places, so when the ac repairs (involving dash removal) take place, the mechanic tells you he/she has to also replace the dash...which is true. many many complaints of dash cover failures in dodge ram 1500 and other similar vehicles. repairs run $1200 or more. dash should be a recall item. *tr

I bought my 2000 dodge ram brand new. about 3 years ago i noticed some small cracks in the dash, then some time last year, the dash started collapsing in huge sections. i then started having electrical problems. i checked with my mechanic and he said it is a result of the sun hitting the wires through the holes in the dash. i then bought a dash cover to stop any further sun damage but continue to have intermittent electrical problems. it has gotten to where it is unsafe to drive. *tr

Dash developed cracks after second year after purchase, one above air bag chamber, and the other above speed meter. ,and eventually fractured into multiple parts during the following years.. decided to remove it, as parts were falling down into the empty space under the dash top, and making rattling noises. this material is defective. internet sources, television news broadcasts site thousands across country having same issues. why has no recall been performed on this defective product? the risks of possible injury, from moisture from leaks or other sources could cause interference with electrical circuits. i will take steps to replace this dash myself, with suitable protection, as the manufacturer has not showed any concern towards its customers, or offered a solution. buying the same kind of dash, made of the same defective material is not the solution, as many have done this, and have the same issue. *tr

I own a 2000 dodge ram 1500 and the dash in this vehicle has completely fallen apart. it started with some cracks but now has entire pieces falling off of it down into the floor boards . it is going to make this vehicle illegal to drive on the road unless daimler chrysler recalls these vehicles to be fixed, as this is due to cheap materials not holding up. *tr

Dodge dashboard cracked and disintegrated. 2000 ram 1500 5.2 liter. the whole dash fell apart. safety issues are the sharp jagged razor sharp edges, and structural integrity of dash assembly. function of air bag is in question. i took after market dash cover, used it for a mold and laid up a new dash with fiber glass. will not purchase new/used dash board as the problem appears to be chronic, poor quality abs is the cause. will not risk a repeat incident. *tr
