I have owned this 2006 dodge magnum se v6 2.7l from new, bought in april 2006, the problem i'm having is with the car stalling, without any notice, happening today when turning left at a stop light and starting uphill. i was able to restart the car after pulling to the right without power, coming to a stop, putting the car in park, and restarting. i made it back home, but the car has been cranking over and not starting when in my garage, this after filling up with gas. i've had this issue happen before from 2006 onward to today, only a few times a year, and changed out the fuel pump relay each time and thought that was the problem, but the car has never stalled while driving before now, only when sitting at a light or stop sign after filling up the tank. the car only has 73,000 miles now after 13 years, i always baby the car and it still looks new. thanks for any help with this matter

My car (2006 dodge magnum 5.7 hemi)was running totally fine.... no warnings of any kind. i turned it off to run into the gym and it wouldn't start. a diagnostic test was run and they said the piston blew and it needs a new engine

On 07/06/2018 started engine, within 30 seconds car shut off . as if i turned off the key.restarted car and shifted to reverse to back out of drive, stalled. started car ,put car in reverse transmission would not ingage 15 to 20 seconds later car went into gear and stalled 4 times before car would move without stalling. two tenths of a mile car stalled pulling out on main road. car started would not move waited for transmission to engage as traffic is is starting to line up. mile later car stalls again everthing off start car and wait for transmission to go into gear. this happens ever day for the pass 2 months dodge dealer said my coils were bad had them changed next day same problem. car now sits till something is done.dont feel safe driving on road. this happens moving and stationary

Without warning valve ring seat broke off fell into cylinder punching hole in piston. bought a rebuilt motor for $7,000 and 70k miles later the same thing happens. both instances the motor was running.

Car stalls randomly when fuel tank is full or after fill up. may stall without warning when in motion or stationary. this is a known issue with this model and similar models. cause is a faulty fuel tank.

The car stalls soon after refilling the fuel tank, the filling was stopped when the pump automatically shuts off. this is a safety concern because it has happened while driving straight on a street, and also while turning onto a highway. the car becomes difficult to maneuver due to the loss of power assist provided to the steering and brakes by the engine. this appears to be caused by a lack of fuel to the engine. the car has restarted, so far, after a few seconds sitting still in the traffic.

The car seems to be running fine one minute when i come up to the traffic light while it is in gear the engine shuts off the next problem is driving down the road the lights go off and on sometimes don't come back on for two or three minutes very annoying when you're driving at night with no headlights an oncoming traffic

Hello, in the last 6 months, every time i put gas in, whether i fill it up or not, weather i top it off or not, the engine will run erratically, often stalling multiple times for no reason. it has stalled on the highway, at highway speed, at any other speeds, and going through turns, needless to say, with no engine i have no power steering. i have the strength to keep the car under control, but a less experienced or less strong driver may loose control, possibly with serious consequences. after the car sits for a few hours, it will usually run ok. thank you for your attention in this matter.

After filling up gas car stalls out while driving, will start back up but shuts down again. going up hill car stalls and shuts off i have to hit the gas pedal to keep it running.

Dropped valve seat: after traveling about 800 miles from massachusetts to north carolina, without any indication of a problem, i got off the freeway and i stopped at a mcdonalds to use my cell phone and i turned off the car, after about 5 mins. i attempted to restart the car and it wouldn't start, then as the engaine turned over it began to make clunking sounds. i had the car towed to a near by dodge dealer, where i was told that the engine failed, costing me $8,466.33 to replace the engine because it was out of warranty. the car is well maintained and i have all the service records showing that this failer shouldn't had happened. chrysler needs to own the flaw in 2005-2007 hemi 5.7 engine and chrysler needs to refund me the $8,465.33 that i had to spend to buy a new engine.

I went to the parking lot at my dr.s office to go home. i started the engine and there was a loud rattling type sound and the engine stalled. it would not stay running. lots of smoke when started. i had the car towed to the local dodge dealer for diagnosis. was told the next day that there was over 90% compression. loss. internal cylinder or other failure indicated. recommended tear down for $1850.00 only 80,000 miles, serviced regularly by the dealer. no warning. i declined the teardown and had car towed home. has been parked since october 2016. retired/disabled. i cannot afford any major repair. factory defect should be fixed by manufacturer.

I have a 2006 dodge magnum r / t v8 5.7lts. on july 24, 2015 i was using my car as usual, i went to the bank, i went to turn off the vehicle mail when i return to my car i'll lights on and the engine failing with an internal noise. i turn off the engine immediately, i call my mechanic and tells me to call a tow truck and to take the vehicle. when the mechanic check the car informs me that he will open the motor. when you open the engine informs me damage a valve seat and it had damaged the piston. the vehicle has never been heated, before turning it off in the mail was working very well. the car only has 60,000 miles, has its daily maintenance, the vehicle is not in daily use. take valve caps fix the machine shop and was told that the tops of these engines hemi has manufacturing defect and is not been the only one with that kind of problem. chrysler (triangle) puerto rico dealer is aware of this problem but have not done anything about it.

For four years my vehicle stalls each time i put gasoline in the tank. on several occasions i have stalled in an intersection as well as busy roads.

I have been having some problems with my 2006 dodge magnum rt for the past year: 1. car stall at a stop light or stop sign (engine would start again) 2. car will lose power (hesitate for about 2-3 seconds and it would chime) 3. engine died on the freeway and had to pull over (very dangerous) dodge replace the gas tank 2 times and still not repaired. the dodge dealer in elk grove ca charged me $140 and i according to the recall it should be waived. there are a lot of people having the same issues and someone should look into this because it is very dangerous.

2 issues: 1) the car stalls (engine cuts off) sporadically. it restarts without hesitation but the stalls are during transit which is very dangerous in traffic. i see a lot of instances where this complaint has been reported but i don't see any recalls on this issue. 2) when someone is sitting on the front passenger seat with the seat belt buckled, the seatbelt warning light and chiming continuously blink and sounds. also, all the emergency lights on the dashboard blinks simultaneously periodically. not sure if that is related but i don't see any recalls concerning this. i will be reporting these to the media for assistance in getting these issues addressed with my vehicle. *tr

After refueling my 2006 dodge magnum stalled repeatedly. restarting the car was very difficult. most of the stalling episodes occurred when the car was at a standstill or moving at 5 mph or less. it also stumbled badly when driving at approximately 50 mph. one of he stalling episodes left me stranded for a short while in a busy intersection causing a traffic jam and creating a very dangerous situation.

The engine stalls randomly after stopping at a stop sign or red light. this will often occur several times in a row. after restarting the car it will not go into gear and be stuck in neutral. the problem will also occur at speed, dying causing a small deceleration and then starting again on its own. this is very dangerous because the driver behind you has no indication that you are stalled and stopping unexpectedly. *tr

While driving vehicle car will stall and only give about 5percent power. it can happen anytime has happened multiple times. dealer had vehicle for a month and cannot determine the issues. i was almost hit by moving vehicles multiple times. *tr

Hi, i have a 2006 dodge magnum srt8. during the first incident in april 2014, my car stalled at lights and engine would not restart. i got gasoline after the first stall and it continued after i filled my tank with gas. the second incident just occurred last night 11/4/14 and i went to the gas station to fill the tank. i noticed a sound like air pressure was being released from my gas tank (normal from filling up) and then the car would not restart very easily and stalled. i was able to get the car started but it stalled at every idle at stop lights. i just noticed that though a google search that the fed is probing engine stalls on approx 192k chrysler/dodge models with the same issue. http://articles.latimes.com/2013/may/14/autos/la-fi-hy-chrysler-engine-stalls-20130514 [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Sitting idle at light cad died. restarted and drove approximately 1 mile and card died again after coming to stop. restarted and drove into a parking lot and car died again when trying to pull into parking stall. restarted and then turned vehicle off to wait for help. vehicle has very low miles (50k +) and has always been dependable until now. drove vehicle to local mechanic (because dealership about 25 minutes away and was concerned about dependability). mechanic connected to computer and performed two road tests but could not duplicate problem. have called dodge and local dealership and they are unwilling to help. *tr

After gas fill up, engine will die when stopping, and die in motion but restart itself, for 5 or 10 miles. this condition is ongoing since march 2014. condition has also happened randomly on one occasion. *tr

After filling the car with gas, exited the gas station and proceeded through a parking lot at 10-15 mph and the engine stumbled followed immediately by a check oil light (no "check engine" light) and engine stopped running. i coasted to a stop, and attempted to restart the engine; after several attempts it started and i drove home without further incident. this happens regularly if i fill the fuel tank from a nearly empty condition (at on near "e"). the engine will always stumble once before it stops running. as such, i'm relegated to exercising caution after any/all fill-ups (drive around a parking lot for example) and never have kids in the car. filling the tank from a 1/4 full condition seems to help. *tr

Vehicle stalls repeatedly after filling up with gas. *tr

Vehicle stalled multiple times after refueling. *tr

Time: after a fuel refill earlier in the day (always ask gas station attendant to -not- top off the tank and usually provide an exact number of gallons to make sure the gauge will read just under full after the gas refill) event: car stalled while being driven at about 25mph this is a safety issue as the car will stall at just about anytime (on the highway, making a turn, driving along suburban roads). at this time the only solution i have been able to implement is to rev the engine significantly fast after the refuel and/or drive in 1st or 2nd gear (by downshifting via the transmission gear shifter) for at least 10minutes of driving time. it has now been 6 months since the last activity on the current nhtsa pe13-016 investigation (last activity referred to on the website was august of 2013). this is a safety issue and a recall is clearly needed to address this safety issue. can someone at nhtsa please post an update on the investigation? *tr

I was driving when suddenly my car felt shaky and rough and started sputtering and losing idle unless i kept my foot on the gas. car will start up but as soon as i take my foot off the gas it dies.engine light started blinking. mechanic stated there is no compression in #4 cylinder of engine. cost is estimated at $1800 just to tear engine down to further diagnose. car was running excellently and next second this. no warning. my mileage was only 93899 at time of failure. *tr

While waiting at a traffic stop the vehicle stalled. cranked it twice and got it started. on the next light it stalled again when slowing. the gas was at 3/4 full. next time, my wife and kids were on the freeway when the car stalled when slowing to stop at an exit. deemed unsafe but realized the it happened after gas was filled or closer to full. happened a couple more times with the last being on 3/5/14. *tr

The engine stalls after refueling, sometimes it will restart other times i have to sit like 15 minutes before it will restart. *tr

On 4 occasions to date, the most recent occurring on 12/21/13, the engine stalls multiple times after refueling. all occasions occurred at idle. safety hazard exists while exiting vehicle on busy roads to push to side of the road. *tr

I had just picked up the car in question after purchasing at a used car lot then drove it about 20 miles before i stopped for fuel at which time i filled the tank then as i went to pull out into the lane of traffic and began to pick up speed and at about 30 mph the car began stuttering then it died. luckily it started up before the cars coming hit me. i have since filed it up several times before and realized that it was doing the same thing after each time i filled up , i then began doing some searching on the internet and seen that others were having the same issues so that led me to file this complaint. can someone please look into this before someone gets seriously hurt? *tr

Stalled while traveling 65mph, then refired several times. leaving from a stoplight the magnum died in the middle of two intersecting highways, restarted, then died again. issues started shortly after re-fueling with a full tank. now, after a month, the stalling occurs as low as 1/4 of a tank of fuel. will run fine for a couple days, then with no warning, stalling comes back and is currently on-going. *tr

At low speeds and stops my car will shut off at random times. sometimes 3-5 times in as short of a drive as 10 miles, mainly at intersections. worst incident was pulling away from a stop sign making a left hand turn with a car coming the direction i was turning, i lost engine power as well as power-steering. in all instances i shut car off and restarted and was able to pull away, although in some cases it would not initially engage into drive. i first experienced after putting a full tank of gas in although now it does not matter the fuel level. it has been progressively getting more frequent. *tr

i ran out of fuel on my way to gas station. called aaa, they brought me 1 gal of gas. car started fine and drove to gas station (4 miles) with no problems. after filling tank car stalled repeatedly while driving on street (5 or 6 times on way home, maybe 5 miles). problem occurred several times for the next week. never had this happen before. since this time everytime i fill the gas tank the problem re-appears and car stalls while driving or at stop light. problem persists for a week or so. also, when the car stalls and the engine is re-started the transmission won't engage for 10 to 15 seconds after shifting into drive. this problem seems to occur the most right after i fill up and gradually disappears as fuel level gets lower. after a week or so the car runs fine, no stalling. the car is not driven daily so it takes a while to burn some of the gas out. i've probably filled the tank 4 times since original onset of problem. i am the original owner of this vehicle. *tr

Vehicle began to just shut off when not in motion. took the car to auto shop to be repaired. after spending more money than expected to fix what the mechanic thought was the problem, we still were having the same issue. finally, wte received a recall notice on the gas tank. after waiting months for chrysler to send the dealership a gas tank for our car, we finally brought the vehicle in to be repaired. changed out the gas tank , dealership kept the car a few days to test it out, called us to pick up the car. on the way home, the vehicle kept killing. took it back to the dealership and they they kept the car for almost two months trying to figure out the problem, but they were unsuccessful in diagnosing the problem. as of today the car is still shumtting off and nobody can figure out the problem. the car only has 45000 miles.

Car stalled after filling up had to restart stalled again on highway going approx 25mph. happened several times after filling up thought bad gas but see pe13-016. also on one occasion car would not start. finally started with a lot of white smoke. *tr

After filling up with gas, upon driving the car will die. at approximately 5mph the car will suddenly die and will not respond. car will not start until after a few minutes of sitting. no cel lights or codes thrown. *tr

Engine stalls while driving, also stalls while car is not moving, whether in park, reverse, or drive the car shuts down and sometimes starts up immediately and sometimes it doesn't, if car is moving at speeds above 30 and the stall happens it will kick right back up on it's own. *tr

Sudden engine stall few miles after fuel charge. these problems happened several months ago, and becoming more frequent almost every fuel charge. when engine stalled, it's difficult to restart. one incident was the sudden engine stall during driving causes me to panic due to losing power assist of steering and brakes, and almost hit side walk at my neighborhood. asked dealership to see what was wrong, and they made some repairs to the fuel injection, and egr valve. but the problem was not fixed. it's very dangerous. *jb

I experience 2 types of engine stall. first incident - car engine would stall at a stop light and happen several times. i completed a tune up thinking it was a spark plug and problem continues. my mechanic tested the car for one day and cannot tell me why it would stall. second incident - car engine would stall at 10 miles per hour causing the car to stop which is dangerous. *tr

Normal fill up at costco 91 octane - started to drive away the magnum srt8 stalled and the vehicle behind me leaving the parking lot hit me. could not get it to run correctly for about 30 minutes. my wife and baby in the car very worried.

After filling up at a local gas station, i drove away, about a quarter mile and stopped at a stop light. the engine stalled as i stopped. i shifted to neutral and attempted to restart the motor 3 times before it would run. once started, i drove for about another mile, and when i slowed to make a right turn, it stalled again. i was able to restart and the vehicle ran fine after that. this is roughly the fourth time this has occurred. the last two times, i realized that they were immediately after a fill up. *tr
