We have classified the 435 complaints from 2013 Dodge Dart about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
When parked on an incline, the car experiences failure in shifting from park to other gears. the gear lever will physically move to other gear positions, however the car will not switch from park to other gears. we have had to manually push the car forward to get it to switch out of park. it seems to be some kind of failure between the sensors sending information to the transmission control module which is not allowing the vehicle to calculate gear shifting correctly. this has happened on 3 separate occasions.
I have had issues with the clutch "sticking" for months. numerous times i would push in clutch and the gearshift wouldn't "catch" or go into gear. now gear shifter is broke. won't go into reverse at all. still shifts in forward driving gears. *tr
While my mother was driving her 2013 dodge dart with only 17,000 miles on it the car went into neutral on its own. the car was running and the shifter selector was in drive...but the dash showed "n" for neutral and the car would only rev and go nowhere. the shift handle could be moved to any position but the trans stayed in neutral. car had to be towed to the dealer. i let them know that i saw there was a recall r42 for this type of problem. dealer said our car was not part of the recall. we did bring the car to them 6 months prior to this because we reported the transmission was hesitating on acceleration...at that time the car only had 12,500 miles on it...they said they could find nothing wrong. this is a huge safety problem, if she had been pulling into traffic from a stop this could have caused a horrific accident. again this happened while driving in motion, luckily in the mall parking lot and not on a major intersection...very dangerous. *tr
Unable to shift gears. key stuck in ignition.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while driving 60 mph, the vehicle shifted into neutral independently. the dealer diagnosed that the transmission control module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 15v542000 (power train). the failure recurred twice. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 50,150.
Yesterday we were parking our vehicle in a parking lot when the shifter got stuck in neutral. we were unable to shift the car into park and were unable to turn the car off and remove the key because it was stuck in neutral. we ended up having to have the car towed to the dealership. today the dealership told us that the cable connecting the shifter to the transmission had come loose and that from a manufacturing standpoint the cable was "too short" and likely to come loose again. they reattached the cable but recommended that the cable to replaced with a longer cable that would be less likely to come loose. the cost to replace the cable and have it reinstalled was going to be just under $800. they recommended that we contact dodge because the car is under 4 years old and only has 26,000 miles on it and the issue is not a wear and tear issue but a manufacturing issue. dodge denied our request to extend the warranty and to pay to have the cable replaced. we expressed our concern that it was a safety issue (because it could've happened while driving) and they said to contact dot and to recommend that there should be a recall on the part. so that is what we are doing. thank you for your assistance.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while driving 60 mph on the highway, the check engine and service transmission warning indicators illuminated. the contact proceeded to exit the highway. once the vehicle came to a complete stop, the contact attempted to accelerate; however, the transmission shifted into neutral and remained in low gear. the vehicle was serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 15v542000 (power train), but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. the contact mentioned that this was the third time for the exact same failure. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was approximately 42,000.
The gear shifter moves but the transmission never leaves park
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. when parking the vehicle, the shift selector seemed to be disconnected or not engaged and would not shift into park. as a result, the keys could not be removed from the ignition. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 50,000.
I own a 2013 dodge dart 1.4l turbo 6 speed manual. everytime i try to shift into reverse from a stop the shifter only goes half-way in. i can get it in gear after depressing the clutch several times. the powertrain contol module was replaced in 2014, and when i spoke to the dealership they stated that the only way to repair the problem was to rebuild the transmission. my car only has 52k miles on it.
Clutch, flywheel inoperative while driving
Care dropped into neutral while driving and shut itself off. this car has had transmission control replace 2x and entire transmission replaced 1x. continually having an issue. tried to have chrysler buy it back but they refuse.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while attempting to place the vehicle in drive, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the shift lever independently shifted to the neutral position. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v542000 (power train). the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was not available.
2013 dodge dart. consumer writes in regards to replacement parts not available to repair transmission control module recall notice. *smd
My wife diana purchased this car on june 19 2017, from a dealership hyundai of garden grove ca. a month afterward we tried to start the vehicle, since this dodge dart is a 6 speed manual transmission, the clutch needs to be pressed to start the engine. when i did that, the clutch went all the way to the floor and stayed there. we took it to gleen e thomas dodge chrysler dealership located in long beach california. they keep the car for a full 7 days and couldn't fixed it. after that the problem of the sticking clutch remains until now, getting worse as the time goes by. every week the issue comes up. we took the car again to another dealership, this time was cerritos dodge and they kept the car for another week. clutch hasn't been fixed. the sticking clutch happens almost every week in the last 2 months, we have to pull it back with our hands or feet, then we pump the clutch until it works again.
I purchased my dodge dart at 21,000 miles. 30,000 miles car shuts off on highway. total power loss. dodge was able to limit the problem however ran rough and at about 45000 miles car shifted hard now at 70000 dodge tells me it's the transmission valve body. 3,000 dollar repair. at this point car is not worth 3000. still shuts off completely while driving. transmission control module is recalled for the 2013 dart however not my vin# ????? i see tons of people with the same issues even cases against dodge for this model. however they are unwilling to help me out with any issues i bring to their attention. unfortunate. for me.
My transmission light has came on intermittently and i have only had the car for two months. milage is at 24,000 and already tranmission issues. i took car to dealership at that time the light was off they told me not to worry and that it will take 6 weeks for them to look at the issue. i am very concerned for my safety. also i turned my car off and it would not turn on i waited 7 minutes and it turned on but the transmission light was on.
Takata recall - on 8/9/2016 i purchased this vehicle from a used car dealership. the gear shift/clutch skips, sticks, and jumps, whenever i move it from park to reverse or drive. this happens consistently. also, the car was sold to me with a dry cable brake wire, which caused the vehicle to make a very loud noise. i reported these issues to the dealer that i purchased this vehicle from, they lubricated the brake cable wire, however, they said that this is normal for dual clutches to do this - skip, jump, and stick. also, the vehicle hesitates to accelerate, and the dealer that i purchased the vehicle come said this is normal. this car had low mileage on it at the time of purchase (38,013), i have filed a claim against dodge, because i think this is a major safety issue. also, i discovered that the previous owner of this vehicle had experienced numerous problems since the time that he purchased this vehicle, which the vehicle had 0 miles on it at that time, and even he filed a claim against dodge for the very same problems, plus for other component failures since the day that he purchased it.
**takata recall**i had the clutch replaced months after i purchased auto within warranty. clutch slipped couple of times last month and now it stuck to floor and there was a leak in the area of transmission and clutch. my brother in law and son work on cars and advised my to let dealer know. i did schedule an appt with dealer prior to car finally did not move. when i did tow it to dealer they advised it was due to my over riding of clutch. i have had standard clutch autos all my life and i know how to drive them. i called chrysler customer service, they called dealer and was advised now my miles is over the warranty which expires 11/8/2018 for x62 hydraulic clutch. so, my issue is, i did not over ride my clutch and what does warranty have to do with my clutch issued for the 2nd time this happening. i have had my dodge dart for almost 3 years come this november. my auto is still with bud clary dogde in aurburn, wa and they advised i need to pay the diagnostics test of $136.88. for safety, i would like to them replace clutch or buy the car back to i could purchase a car that is safe. i do not want to pay for a car that unsafe for myself, passengers and those around me. car stopped at traffic light and we pushed to nearby gas station . **my case is under investigation with chyrsler and still awaiting results....**case# 2990499**..help!!!!
I started having issues with my dart 2 years after i bought it, tcm lost communication while traveling 70+ mph down highway had to tow car. had tcm flashed(repair 1), drove 2-3k mile more, happened again, brought it to a different dealership said they replaced tcm (repair 2, before tcm recall was issued.) about 10k miles later had to bring it back, had tcm flashed again (repair 3), about 10k miles later tcm has problem again while traveling 40+ miles down a very busy city street and need to tow vehicle, this new dealership replaced tcm again (repair 4 after tcm recall is issued, 4k miles later car is now throwing check engine lights for bcm, and pcm which i am told is connected to the tcm. i am in the process of filing a lemon law claim against chrysler, a three year old car that i paid almost $30,000 should not cause so much stress. i cannot allow my family to be in danger, i have been lucky that neither issue resulted in a car accident. chrysler needs to buy my vehicle back. i do not wish to talk to them about servicing the vehicle again, or trading them for a newer vehicle as they have lost my trust as a company.
Dode dart recall i received a postage a few months ago about a recall for my dart, everytime i have tried to contact allstar about the recall they have informed me that the parts have yet to arrive., i have had my car a year and a half. currently everytime i start my car it is saying service transmission on the dash. on several ocassions the car has automatically went into the neural shift, while driving causing me to completly stop in the middle of traffic!!!!!i have almost been into about 4 accidents because of the glitch with my transmission, the air also will work and blow out hot air on one side. everytime i stop at a stop sign the car struggles to pull off causing my car to jerk tremendously i am destined to get this issued resolved . allstar still have not contacted me back about the recall, i need my car fixed asap.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while attempting to drive the vehicle, it failed to start and the transmission service and engine warning indicators illuminated. the failure recurred twice. in addition, while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle made an engine start noise and then accelerated without warning. the contact depressed the brake pedal to slow down the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery and the transmission cable failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that once the dealer diagnosed the failure, they would determine if the vehicle was covered by the warranty. the approximate failure mileage was 35,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while driving 10 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact could not accelerate the vehicle. in addition, the vehicle began to roll down a hill slightly when it was placed in reverse. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 45,000.
When shifting from reverse to drive the shifter whet limp and the car was stuck in reverse. i was unable to shift to another gear or remove the keys. the car was stuck in the middle of the street and had to be towed for repair. at the dealership i was told the shift control cable had broken and it would have to be replaced. i was told it was not covered under warranty as the car was older than 36 months. i paid to have the shift control cable replaced. failure mileage was around 24,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while driving at a low speed, the vehicle failed to switch from the neutral position. in addition, the ignition key became lodged in the vehicle and could not be removed. the vehicle was taken to a dealer to be repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 97,000.
The car won't start. battery is completly dead. won't even charge. (that's not the big deal) the big deal is when i try to reverse it's like it doesn't want to get in gear. then whole car shakes, and then it feels like the transmission stops and is about to drop. gear shift lights all turn red. have to start car and turn back on to get it to go to normal. engine light comes on too. then eventually turns off.
This car should be a total recall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When i am putting my car in gear i have my foot on the brake and the car accelerates at full speed while my foot is still on the brakes. i can also be at a stop light and the car will accelerate at full speed while stationary. my reverse also doesn't go backwards at a normal speed, it also stalls as i am attempting to reverse.
Replaced transmission master cylinder at 35k miles, less than a year later at 61k it needs replaced again, as well as a new clutch kit. dodge customer service considers this "normal wear and tear." vehicle driven conservatively, no modifications.
Problems since day 1 with my 2013 dodge dart. the clutch would stick in and i would have to pop it up with my foot. i would take my car in and even left it for a couple days and they just told me they couldn't reproduce the problem. and the "specialist" said what i was telling them about the clutch was impossible! so i started videoing and posting my clutch issues on youtube. the radio switches stations by itself, it goes off or won't come on. i've had the radio replaced and it still does the same thing! i've had battery issues with the battery draining and ultimately being replaced. the cruise control works about half the time. dealership ended up replacing the clutch, had my car back 2 days and the clutch went out again. june 11th 2015 took my car in immediately when the rear brake started sticking. they had my car two days and said they adjusted the brake but couldn't reproduce the sound i heard coming from my rear passenger tire. so two weeks go by and i take my car back again demanding they take another look at it. by now the right rear caliber is stuck in and has ruined my rotor and brake pad. later my car starts spitting and sputtering. take it to the dealership and they said the only thing they could find wrong is the air flow pipe to the turbo was loose and they tightened it. i decided to go to a new mechanic, he said one of my ignition coils blew. 8 months later my car starts doing the same thing and my mechanic says another ignition coil blew. and he cannot get one for my exact car because they are all on back order with dodge! he also informs me that there are 3 computers in my car and they are not talking to each other. it took them a while to figure out it was the ignition coil because the computer did not alert that to their tester. now my check engine light is on again and after 3 technicians looked at my car they said i need a new turbo.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while driving approximately 65 mph, the gear shifter slipped into neutral and the "service transmission gear is not available" warning message appeared. the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road, restarted, and driven to the dealer. the transmission control module was replaced; however, the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 101.
I have just had the tcm replaced for the second time. this time the braket was replace but nothing has changed. i still experience transmission problems. my car will still have problem shifting and will not start.
This car is 3 years old and we have had to replace the body control module (bcm), and transmission control module (tcm). the check engine light is still on and dodge is still trying to find out what is wrong with it. before replacing the body control module the car wasn't starting so the battery was replaced, it turns out the bcm was staying on and drawing power form the battery while the car was off. we were constantly having to jump the car to get it started. after that the transmission started acting funny it would shift hard, shift into low gears while driving on the freeway. also when first started or stopped at a traffic intersections the vehicle would shift into 4th gear on its own unless in sport mode and done manually. this makes it accelerate very slowly which is dangerous especially when pulling out into an intersection. after replacing the tcm the issue with the transmission is still occurring, it is currently being looked and the cause is still unknown.
The car will randomly go into neutral mode, and will not stay in gear while driving. it will say gear not available on the screen. it has done it about 5 times in less than a month. the dealer has replaced the tcm twice, but that does not work. it has been in the shop about 4 times for this one issue. once in a safe place i can change gears but still says no gears available. turn off and on the car, and it will not start. wait 20 min and it might work again, but not sure for how long. if i can get it to start, there have been times i can not get it out of park. the last time it happened was on may 10th 2016 on highway 290 in houston. the car said service transmission, but now i would be costing. if i give it gas the rpms will go up, but the mph will go down. i had to cost it off the freeway since there was not a shoulder to stop on. once i got it off the freewway, i had to push it to a parking lot. this is what i have been dealing with, and the dealer can't fix the issue. the put in a new tcm on the dart on 5/10/16, picked it up at around noon. at around 8pm the car had the same issues again.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission cable failed and the tcm needed to be replaced. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v542000 (power train). the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
The car has been leaking oil at a rate of 3 quarts in two weeks. it is in now for the 2nd repair in that timeframe. the car lost the ability to accelerate in the middle of the highway twice after the attempted repair.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 15v542000 (power train); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. the contact stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the contact had not experienced a failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. parts distribution disconnect.
My car is messing up the gears the lights turn red the car would not start left me stranded also when i put my car in drive the cart shifts hard back and forth i took it to aamco they said it the motor mount the rear one i do buy the part had it replaced and now the car is leaving me stranded it was parked
The vehicle was stopped at an intersection in "drive". upon the light turning green, the driver pressed on the accelerator, however the engine "revved" and vehicle did not move. the driver confirmed that the gear selector was in "drive" and the tft display showed the vehicle was also in "drive." the driver shifted the vehicle into "park", then back to "drive" where the gears engaged and the vehicle was able to move forward.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while driving 55 mph, the gear shifter failed to shift into gear without warning. in addition, the vehicle failed to start. the failure recurred twice. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed, but the cause of the failure was unable to be determined. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 64,606.
Backed out of a parking spot then came to a stop and switched gear to drive. the car stayed in reverse yet the shifter was in the drive position. moved it to the park position and no change car was still reading as reverse. later find out that the clip holding the gear shift cable to the lever had broke. after applying the ebrake and manually going under the hood to switch the lever to park or neutral was the car able to be stopped and towed to a dealership. the only offer to fix this problem wether it is the piece connected to the lever or the actually shift is to get a completely new cable. this cable is not part of the power train warranty although the prndl position switch is. a significant amount of other dodge dart owners have reported the same problem or problems with the transmission control module (only recalled in 1.4l turbos). both are serious problems that affect and can hinder the drivability of the car.
In march of 2016 i was in a home depot parking lot, turned my vehicle on, and placed the vehicle in drive. i maintained my foot on the break and did not release. i then released the break and the vehicle began to accelerate very fast without pushing the accelerator, almost colliding into a family of 5 walking through the parking lot. even after pushing on the break the vehicle kept accelerating until i moved the vehicle to the neutral position. the vehicle then kept accelerating until approximately 7000 rpm's then stopped. i took the vehicle to the dodge dealership where the mechanic told me the car also accelerated on him even though he did not push on the accelerator.

The car has been having several electrical problems. fuel gauge will not register a full tank of gas after been filled right away. volume controls will increase and decrease on their own sporadically. buttons on the steering wheel stop functioning off and on. also, lately we have been having issue with car shaking and stuttering while driving. have taken it to dealership 2 times in the last week. will be visiting again this week.
2013 dodge dart. consumer writes in regards to power brake booster contamination recall. *smd the consumer stated the dealer was unable to remedy the defect. the consumer stated the brake did not work efficiently and the motor seemed to not function properly when accelerating. over time, the motor issue has worsened, with a lot of shaking and noises, along with some acceleration issues. *jb
I got 2013 dodge dart 1.4l turbo 6 speed manual and every morning when leave for work clutch pedal goes to floor and have to pump it good bit just to get it to change gears. started car in reverse and car takes off while engine is turning over. and on highway if stay in same gear for long periods of time it will not come out gear and been to dealership 2 times for this and they say nothing wrong

Shift cable broke at 51000 miles when shifting from reverse to drive. vehicle stuck in reverse. occured while back out into traffic situation safety issue as it failed with no warning or indication of failure. fortunate that it failed under these circumstances. chrysler says that it is not part of power train and not covered by warranty. cannot believe this is normal life expectancy of crucial control component.
In august 2016 my clutch pedal stuck to the floor on the 405 freeway in cagoing 65mph. this causing no gear change and control over vehicle, chrysler repaired the master cylinder under the power train warranty. (they said this wouldn't happen again and the car was safe) well the clutch did fail on the way to vegas on the freeway going 65mph again i lost control of the gears and the clutch stuck to the floor. chrysler told me it was a worn out clutch and they wouldn't replace the parts or buy back the car under lemon law. i had an independent mechanic look at the car in glendora ca. he said it's not a worn out clutch, but the clutch has broken due to a leaking slave cylinder leaking over the components. this is a manufacturer defect. and has had various court cases against them due to this issue. the car is a so unsafe and a time bomb. i have just had a new born baby and do not want her anywhere near this car.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. the contact stated that the vehicle was repaired in january of 2016 for a recall related to the power train. the remedy did not resolve the failure. while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled and had to be shifted into neutral. the contact coasted the vehicle over to the shoulder of the road and attempted to restart the vehicle. ten minutes later, the vehicle restarted. the manufacturer was notified. the nhtsa campaign number was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 54,000.
