It was september 23rd around 11pm, i was driving on a highway, upon turning into the exit lane my car hit some form of pothole which made my touch screen and dashboard turn off and back on. i've had issues with my touch screen shutting off and back on in the past, once i've replaced the battery it worked fine until that day, then it started acting up again so before all of this i did set up a car appointment for it to get checked out 2 days earlier. so anyway, as i'm driving, i arrive to my destination. i sat in the car for a while on my phone and decided to turn on my air. when the air came out it smelled very smokey. so i turned it off and about 5 minutes later, a very light mist began to come out of the drivers side hood. so i decided to just head home instead because i didn't want to be stuck somewhere and i not have a ride home, my house wasn't that far from my location. so the further i'm driving i noticed the smoke began to pick up a bit so i cut my hazard lights on. i'm about 5 minutes away from my house at the point. so i'm driving down the ramp to merge into the highway and the smoke got so thick to where i could no longer see so i'm pushing down the breaks to slow the car down and find my way to the side of the road but then my car locks up and shuts down. i couldn't turn the wheel, gas or break or anything. when i could glimpse through the smoke i noticed a fire was coming from my hood, so into moving traffic on the highway going about 40 miles an hour i hopped out of my car and it rolled a little over 100 feet to almost the yellow line (it was still blocking one lane). witnesses called the cops and the fire department put the flames out.i reached out to my car company and they said since my car wasn't insured, that basically i'm out of luck. i have scratches and scars still from the day of the incident and i'm not sure what else to do ## vin passed ## dodge dart 2013 ##
While sitting in traffic with my family the car suddenly went into neutral and will not come out of neutral i read on the internet there was a recall on the transmission control module and it explains with the explanation given for the problem the same thing that happened to my car but when i called dodge/chrysler my vin was not on the recall but i had the same problem this is a safety matter i was only 20 yards from the railroad tracks luckily one was already going by or the car would have been on the tracks any help with this situation would be helpful thanks
Car jump in gear while driving
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. the contact stated that the clutch pedal was depressed but ceased. the contact manually operated the clutch pedal in order to start the vehicle. the contact attempted to shift the vehicle into reverse however, the clutch failed to engage. the vehicle was towed to dodge chrysler jeep located at (2100 e spring st, signal hill, ca 90755), (562) 426-5111) where it was diagnosed that the clutch bearing needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 94,644.
Before moving from new mexico to minnesota we had our 2013 dodge dart's oil change and car checked over by a dodge authorized dealership. while driving on sd hwy 212 up a hill shifting down to 5th the clutch pedal stuck to the floor. so i forced it into 5th before it rolled down a sharp hill. (please note dodge says there is nothing wrong but there are so many complaints). dodge claim that clutches just go out like this with out any warning and it would not be covered. i have owned many manual cars and have never had any clutches wear out. my car only had $40,000 miles. i left the car behind in north dakota because we were moving to minnesota. they informed us it would be over a week to fix. i will have to drive back over 6hours (12 hours total trip) and pay for a new clutch that is probably just as bad. i think that the clutch going out with out warning is a big safety hazard.
The clutch pedal, when pressed, stays on the floor. this makes it impossible to shift into any gear, in any stage of driving whether it be stationary or in motion. i have been driving my car with no clutch for 5 days now, hoping that the pressure would come back(as this is not the first time this has happened <never for this long though, usually just happens for 5 minutes>the pressure has always come back, until now), which has not happened. i am going to try replacing the master/ slave cylinders and possibly flush and/or replace tranny lines, but after a little research online, this seems like a very common problem, and no good remedy to fix the issue with this exact transmission.i would normally fix it and go on about my business, but this problem is way to common for it to go unnoticed by the proper people. i feel dodge should take some responsibility for this problem and at the very least acknowledge that there is a problem and offer their loyal customers some sort of resolution.
I have a 2013 dodge dart with 52,000 miles on it. i was driving and went to pass a car and my car automatically shifted into neutral while passing then slammed back into drive. it shifted so hard i thought i hit something. it has been continuously doing this since then. the rpm went all the way down then reved up to 6 when it finally went into drive on its own. i can manually shift the car and i haven't noticed anything but qhen automatically shifting it is not doing what it is supposed to.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while driving approximately 30 mph, the contact placed the gear shifter into drive and depressed the accelerator pedal. the vehicle failed to acclerate and the gear shifted into neutral and then into drive without warning. the vehicle was taken to zimmer chrysler dodge jeep ram (located at 1086 burlington pike, florence, ky 41042, (859) 525-1344) where no diagnostic failure code was found. the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that no recalls were associated with the vehicle. the contact stated that the vehicle was scheduled for a ride along. the contact was provided a case number. the failure mileage was 84,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. the contact stated that the gear failed to shift from the drive to the park without warning. in addition, the key from the ignition failed to be removed. the vehicle was taken to the flowery branch auto care dealer located at 3507 atlanta hwy, flowery branch, ga 30542; where it was diagnosed that the shifter cable needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the contact stated on another occasion, while driving at 55 mph, the gear automatically shifted to neutral without warning. the contact could not change the gear, the contact tried to pull over to the side of the road but the vehicle failed to move. the contact waited 25 minutes and the vehicle was able to shift out of neutral. the vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 57,940.
I paralleled park the night before and had no problems. the next morning i came out to go to work got in my car started it let it warm up then proceeded to put it in a reverse to back out, my car is manual so when i lifted the ring to put in reverse gear it went in perfectly i gave it a little gas and kicked it out of gear i attempted to put it back in reverse but it wouldn't and just kept going in first gear . so apparently it's called a reverse lockout cable (basically a bicycle brake wire) which may have been cut by a plastic connector that got a sharp edge overtime.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while driving, the vehicle failed to accelerate and the check engine and transmission warning indicators illuminated. the contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. the vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to larry h. miller chrysler jeep dodge ram albuquerque (8528 lomas blvd ne, albuquerque, nm 87110, 505-404-0108), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
While at an intersection, the engine disconnected from the wheels and i was almost broadsided by an oncoming car. the engine seemed to be shifting at higher rpms and shifted into neutral several times, then it stalled in a dangerous intersection. i took it to the dealer the next day (11 aug 2017) and the dealer cleared the codes, road tested it and told me i was not driving properly or maybe the fluid got too hot. i think something is wrong with the transmission, the car is under warranty, and i think it may be dangerous to drive and i have a six year old daughter that i think should not ride in the vehicle. if the car that slammed on the breaks would not have been so reactive and my daughter had been with me, it may have resulted in a terrible tragedy. the dealer that sold me the car (lustine chrysler-jeep-dodge-ram in woodbridge, va) is not helpful.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the clutch pedal went to the floor without warning. the failure recurred three times. the vehicle was towed to three different dealers, including the nelson auto center, inc dealer (218-998-8878, located at 2228 college way, fergus falls, mn 56537) where it was diagnosed that the clutch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure by email with no response in return. the failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
At 28450 miles, transmission which is a dcct type failed. car initially refused to start after making a stop having been drive just a 1/2 mile. took 4-5 attempts to start, but vehicle shook on starting, and check-engine light came on and stayed. after driving 14 mile, there was a strong burning smell from car similar to clutch or brake burning. the vehicle started for return trip to residence, but was sluggish on roadway at highway speeds and had pronounced burning smell again after return home. the following day, the vehicle was taken to nearby dodge dealer for repairs and owner has obtained loaner at dodge expense until repairs are complete.
Takata recall: there has been multiple issues with this car including loss of power, rapid shifting, transmission failure, stalling, and overheating. the check engine light and transmission light have come on multiple times, the tcs and passenger airbag lights have come on and off at the same time. this car has had 2 pcm's replaced, 4 tcm's replaced, 2 transmissions (the last one replaced less than one week ago), 2 sets of spark plugs and coils replaced, timing belt, serpentine, and water pump replaced. the transmission, serpentine, timing belt, and water pump were all replaced on 7/21/17 and now the car is presenting with the same issues. these problems started with the first owner (and were not reported to me) on 8/6/13 and started with me on 4/16/15. as of 8/2/17 i have the same whining noise in the car (which has been diagnosed as the transmission multiple times now), the transmission is unable to shift or lags or shifts too quickly, i can floor the gas peddle and the car will not accelerate, when i let off the brake the car surges forward, the check engine light is back on, and the cruise control is not functional. this car has been in the shop more than i have driven it and dodge keeps repairing it and those repairs last less that one month and the same problem happens again and again. this car is unsafe to drive and dodge has yet to remedy the situation. the car is set to be back in the shop this week and it is currently not drivable and a hazard to myself and others on the road. i would not be able to accelerate to move out of the way of anyone or anything due to the transmission and issues with this vehicle.
Clutch sticks
Takata recall while my vehicle is in motion on street or highway my vehicle begins to jerk. also when coming to a stop or having to use my brakes before making or coming to a turn i have to use excessive force to come to a complete stop or to slow down, when doing that my car begins to shake.
I have a 2013 dodge dart with 75,000 miles on it. on 7/14/17 while i was driving down a highway, the transmission unexpectedly shifted into neutral and remained in neutral, which caused a lost of control of the transmission in the middle of the highway. the vehicle is no longer able to be operated as the transmission is remained stuck in neutral. this incident could easily caused an accident, luckily i was able to navigate the vehicle of to the side of the highway.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while driving 10 mph, the "transmission service required" warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (clark chrysler jeep dodge ram located at 175 pelham st, methuen, ma 01844; (978) 683-8775) where it was diagnosed that the computer chip needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v542000 (power train). the manufacturer was contacted at 800-853-1403 and stated that the vin was not included in the recall. the failure mileage was 108,000.

I have a 2013 dodge dart and after backing it out of the driveway it was stuck in reverse. we couldn't turn the car completely off and the key would not come out. after working with it my husband finally got it to go into park, turned the key off and removed it. now it is sitting in front of our house almost on the side of the street.
I was backing into a parking space. when i went to shift the car back into park, the shifter moved, but the car stayed in reverse.
Mulitple issues with this car. battery has been replaced twice, needles on gauges bounce around, at 90,000 miles airbag indicator came on, no diagnosis, at 92,000 pulled into work and car would not go into park, had to shut off the car and pull up emergency brake, my car now will not turn on.
While driving, experiencing intermittent issues with low power during acceleration, back firing, misfiring, check engine light & traction control comes on, stays on. cruise control will not work when this happens. after a few days, corrects itself and is ok for a day or so but continues again. very concerning in traffic. clutch went all the way to floor, took to dealership and so far not reoccurring (recall). electrical issue, possible something staying open, draining battery. after sitting all day, car would not unlock, had to enter car with actual manual unlock. upon opening, the dash lights were all flashing, the display screen was flashing unreadable images. all instrument panel lights came on, stayed on. when door shut, panel lights went off and the fuel and speedometer gauges starting jumping, opened the door, gauges stopped and lights came on. wiper blades activated on their own, very slowly. could not unlock any door or open trunk during this time. jumped the car, started very quickly. will need to replace the battery as it is not charging fully. rear brakes are not wearing properly.. car mileage 35,500.. very unhappy with this car's performance.
Key stuck in the ignition and will not go into gear, 81000 miles. went to put the car in park to check my mail and there were no gears the car would not go into park. i tried to turn the car off and the key would not come out. having it towed to the shop.
Takata recall about two yrs ago my lost control as i tried to put it in reverse, it appeared that the shifting cable came apart in the parking lot of a family dollar in my home town. as i was backing out of the parking space i was unable to stop my vehicle while it was in reverse , i immediately had to use the emergency brakes to stop it. had it replace by a personal mechanic. was out of transportation for about two weeks, because has to order the part from the dealership.
Driving a manual.. my reverse cable lockout broke, i went to a dodge dealership an it shows up on their computer of what i need. but you can not buy it. they say its a after market product. then when i went to about every auto parts store. they dont even know what im talking about. an it is a safety issue. it basically looks like a bicycle brake cable regardless i have to drive my car. so i have a zip tie down where my shifter is holding the lock out wide open. i have to be careful not to be in reverse when i need to be in 1st. i need to know where to go to fix this issue or if dodge is going to finally admit that its a manufacturer defect as im not the only person that this has happened to. if and when i want to sale my car. how is this gonna be possible. it lowers the value right now! when this happened it was june 17 2017 at a gas station in pa needless to say, when i live in al. . i went to back out an when i lifted up on the knob. i had nothing.. something needs done.

I already had my dart serviced for the transmission recall a year ago. the issue came back. while i was on the interstate the engine light came on and the "service transmission" warning came on. the car then proceeded to shift to neutral while i was going 70mph+. this happened every time i got on the interstate before the dealership was able to service it. after the transmission was serviced, a week later i had a similar experience on the interstate. the pedal was not working so the car slowed down, then it would catch and speed back up again. it continued to do this. my car is currently being serviced for the 3rd time for the transmission in one year.
I was driving my car when it slip into neutral and would not move out of neutral leaving me stranded on the road. i looked up online to find out any information on how to get it out of neutral and find complaints about the same thing happening to other vehicles and found recall number r42. i contacted 1-800-853-1403 on 2/1/17 and gave them the information and they provide a tow to take my car to the chrysler dealership. on 2/2/17 i receive call from someone in service and told me that he looked up my vin number and it was not under recall, but only for the brakes that was under recall. i tried to explain that even though my vin is not pulling up as one of the effected cars, they should still fix my car due to me having the same problem. i was told that they would not fix it. on 2/2/17, [xxx] in service said that the recall was not for 1.4 engines. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Stopped on hwy road side to read and send a text message. while attempting to place car in park. my 2013 dodge dart locked in neutral and would not move out of neutral. i was unable to get the key out of ignition due to the car being in neutral leaving my dashlights on all night after towing to dealership.. i notice there is a recall for certain dodge darts for 2013 for this very issue, i notice my vin # does not appear in the recall even though it has the very same issue appears to happen to my model. i was stranded in the middle of no where waiting for help to arrived, i hope this warns other of the issue. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while driving 30 mph, the "gear not available switch to neutral drive in reverse" message illuminated. when the contact placed the gear into reverse, the vehicle failed to move and "service transmission" illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was towed to bud clary auburn chrysler dodge jeep ram (2925 auburn way n, auburn, wa 98002) where the transmission module and gear shift module were replaced; however, the same failure occurred the next day. the vehicle was currently at the dealer. the manufacturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 40,000. the vin was unavailable.
January 15, 2017 i parked my dodge dart in the parking lot. upon my departure i was able to turn the ignition and drive around the bend to pick up passengers. once i came to a complete stop my engine shut off, all service lights came on (mirror warning lights, check engine lights, dashboard shift indicator stuck on "drive" rather than "parked") and no power steering. the vehicle was in 'park' but continued to roll backwards. i was in a full parking lot at the beach on a holiday. multiple people where lined up behind my car to park/ pick up their passengers. had i not have to pick up passengers i would have ended up on a hill (the first turn out of the parking lot is a fairly steep incline) most likely causing a horrific accident. i believe the issue is the power train/ shifter cables. i have not felt safe in this car since ive bought. nor has it been reliable. brought brand new and i have been to the car dealership multiple times for recalls/ check engine lights and oil changes.
Have a 2013 dart sxt 1.4t manual. i'm going on 2 years with the car, bought it with just under 20k. since buying it, i've had spouts of check engine light for underboost occasionally come on and go back off soon after, never much of a bother since it never lasted long enough to get the dealership to catch it while the light was still on. yesterday, 1/10/17, my car was driving normally until i tried to get on the highway, at about 40 mph the engine started stuttering pretty bad, but i didn't think anything of it because no lights were coming on the dash. until i hit 50. suddenly the ce light started flashing, the car wouldn't go above 50 mph and the rpms wouldn't even hit 4000. pulled over, turned the car off and back on, the ce light was back off. revved the engine for a bit, no issues. as soon as i attempted to accelerate again, the ce light started flashing and then stayed solid this time. called a tow truck to tow the car to the dealer since clearly it was dangerous to be driving. once i got to the dealer, started the car up to move it into a parking spot and suddenly neither the tachometer or speedometer were working. they were working normally on the side of the highway. its like the entire powertrain decided to have a total meltdown all at once. this is not acceptable for a 3 year old car with less than 50k miles on it. i have changed the intake on the car and the hot/cold side piping for the intercooler, but they have been on the car for over a year and i've been sure to regularly check connections and keep them well maintained to prevent any issues, there's no way they are the cause of the powertrain suddenly having a meltdown. *tr
Could not renew my 2017 california registration. needed a recall r42 done, per dmv records. had this recall done on jan 5th 2017 by jeep chrysler dodge of ontario calif. their invoice number 491747 the car ran good for a day. on jan 8th had problems with transmission the engine service light came on along with service transmission message i was driving and the car shifted by itself into neutral. no forward no reverse. very frightening experience. especially with my wife and 7 month old baby in this vehicle. had car returned to dealer ship on 1-9 2017 i was under the impression this recall r42 was to solve this problem of vehicle shifting into neutral. i'm afraid to drive this car with my family. *tr
