Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2011 Dodge Charger

The passenger side low beam headlight went out the other day and when i went to change it the connector that attaches to the bulb was melted. two week later the drivers side low beam light did the same thing. the bulbs that were in there at the time the connectors melted were oem rated bulbs. i contacted the dealer and they said the only thing available at the time was to buy the entire wiring harness and that would run close to $800. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge charger. while driving approximately 72 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and seized as the abs warning indicator illuminated. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. the vehicle was previously taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the abs failed. the vehicle was repaired, however the failure recurred. in addition, the driver side headlight malfunctioned. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 14v101000 (exterior lighting), 14v634000 (electrical system), and 15v467000 (air bags, seat belts). the parts to do the repairs were unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 26,000. updated 11/06/15*lj, updated 3/30/18 *tr

I have replaced the driver side headlamp 2 times now found the connector charred and brittle. i purchased the vehicle in january 2014 and saw lamp replacement done by the dealership i bought it from in the carfax so 3 times this bulb has been replaced since january. this is a potential fire hazard and chrysler needs to address this problem. i happen to work for chrysler and am an electrician and know the potential of the problem. the problem is a loose connection which cause excessive heat. i put dielectric grease on the connector to help with the condition. time will only tell if this helps. i also have gotten a battery saver message which leads me to believe the alternator is about to go not to happy!!. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge charger. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the headlights suddenly failed to illuminate. the contact noticed that the bulb harness connector was burned. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number 12v042000 (electrical system , exterior lighting , service brakes, hydraulic) but stated that the vin was not included in the recall campaign. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 72,000. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge charger. the contact stated that while driving 75 mph, the battery saver warning light illuminated. in addition, the contact smelled a burning odor. as a result, the battery exploded. there were no injuries sustained. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the alternator and the battery needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v634000 (electrical system) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the failure mileage was 68,000.

The airbag light in my charger kept coming on and staying on. when i took it to the dealer they said the error code was coming from the seat airbag sensors and they would need to be replaced. apparently my charger was manufactured in january of 2011 and was not included in the recall for this exact same problem because the recall was only for those manufactured starting in april. the exact same part that was found to be defective in these other chargers was the same as mine, but they would not repair it under the recall. after they fixed that the airbag light was still on and this time i was told that it was coming from the passenger airbag underneath the dash. again the same problem with the airbag wiring and harness, and again it was not covered under any type of warranty. *tr

On january 19th 2014 i was driving to work and the car went into battery saver mode the abs light came on, the radio shut off and the car started to shake and it went dead on a busy intersection. i had it towed to pep boys they changed the battery just so i can get it to dodge to replace the alternator it was a factory defect in the alternator wiring which is not on the recall list so, i had to pay $700. when i got the car back 2 days later. i noticed when i'm driving one headlight goes out . i saw a recall on the 2011 charger police vehicles headlight harness burning out but nothing on the base model se which are having the same problem. i pay too much money a month for this car to come out of pocket for these factory defects. dodge/chrysler need to do something about this or they will lose alot of customers. *tr

Headlight connection plugs melted lights don't work on low beams. police vehicles have been recalled for this problem but not all others. dealer wont fix wants me to pay for it. i think chrysler know that there is a problem because that why they recalled all police vehicles. i think this is a safety problem, when driving at night and your lights go out from light plugs melting and i or my wife and kids cant see the road and possible get into a wreck or plugs get hot enough to catch the car on fire. something need to be done. *tr

My passenger side low beam headlamp went out. i purchased a new bulb but when i went to replace it, i noticed that the harness attached to the bulb was scorched and melted. i replaced the harness along with the bulb. the headlight worked for a few days but no longer does. i noticed there is a recall for a similar problem but when i contacted the dealer, they informed me that my car was not part of the recall even though the problem is identical. *tr

My car displayed a message battery save mode, i was riding on the turnpike which i had to hurry and pull over because the radios down, then the air conditioner, then the dash board lights start appearing, the windshield wipers came on, the steering wheel became no easy to turn as if it was locking. i placed the car in park the entire car shut off, key wasn't able to be detected nothing. had the car towed to my mechanic shop he explained alternator and that he would also check the voltage on the battery. when he went to check the battery it was extremely hot which he was surprise it hadn't catches fire. obviously i called to see if their were any recalls related to my vin and they said no, crazy part is i'm reviewing all the same problems on this site and dodge doesn't think this is a recall issue that's crazy to me. *tr

Passenger side headlight started flickering was driving in bad fog could not use high beams the more we drove the worse the flickering became. all of a sudden it seemed like we lost all headlights we were able to pull over got out to check lights and the low beam headlight was out. we finally made it home. the next day went to check the lights and found the low beam wiring harness melted. i started looking online and came to find numerous web sites with people having the same issue and chrysler has only recalled the police issue vehicles. to me chrysler knows there is an issue but do not want to fix it. i have paid over $200 to get it fixed. i have called chrysler numerous times and have gotten no where with them. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge charger. the contact stated that the headlights suddenly failed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the headlight harness needed to be replaced. the vehicle was scheduled for repairs. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number 12v042000 (electrical system , exterior lighting , service brakes, hydraulic). the failure mileage was 52,000.

Driver side low beam light went out. tried replacing the bulb, which was much more difficult than anticipated so, decided to take it to the dodge dealer i purchased the car from. received a call from the service department only to be told that it was not the bulb but was the entire wiring mechanism and the wires had "melted". i have been a loyal dodge customer for many year, despite many difficulties with other dodge models. most recent, this headlight issue, not covered under any recall (even after reading all these complaints) and i am over my 36,000 mile warranty, i am extremely disappointed in chrysler! not only because of the cost of this repair, but now i worry that if the heat is enough to melt the wires, what happens the next time i am driving and the wires actually catch fire? guess chrysler will issue a recall once someone is severely injured or worse case dead because of this issue! *tr

Same as everyone else. started with having to replace both lightbulbs multiple times. dealer said it was wiring harness but not covered by recall. within 6 months major catastrophic failure with alternator and battery, again not covered. *tr

Noticed that the passenger side low beam headlamp was not lighting. installed a new lamp with the same current and power specs. with less than 4 hours on the new lamp it also failed to light. removed the lamp and found the connector shell/housing charred and brittle. contacts on one side of the connector and both the original and replacement lamps were discolored by intense heat. evidently, the connector contact was not providing a solid connection with the lamp terminals, and the high resistance connection resulted in overheating and melting of the connector, a dealer service advisor informed me that this is a known, ongoing problem for which the solution is to replace the entire wiring harness at the owner's expense. research indicated that the problem has been acknowledged by chrysler, but only police vehicles have been recalled. to avoid spending hundreds of dollars to have the entire harness replaced, the original connector has been removed and a replacement connector installed. whether "new" harnesses installed to fix the problem use the same inadequate connectors is unknown. *tr

I bought a 2011 charger in 2012. dec 11 2013 my son was stranded in the cold with a dead alternator. it cost a fortune for tow, new alternator, labor ($865.00) . that is unacceptable for a 2 year old car and owners should be compensated. *tr

Drivers side low beam went out while driving at night. while changing the bulb, i noticed that the connector and bulb were melted, black, and brittle. the new bulb lasted two days before it went out. contacted dodge about the recall on dodge charger police vehicles, but vin specific recall does not cover my vehicle. now i'm forced to get the harness repaired at my own expense. does not seem right that there are so many others with the same problem, but dodge is not fixing the problem??? *tr

Got pulled over by police for having right front headlight out. did some research and found that this was a common problem with the wiring harness. sure enough, when i wiggled the wire, the light came on, so the bulb is good but the wiring is bad. seems this is a common problem, dodge should be taking care of this. *tr

My low beam headlights have went out over 5 times this year. i replaced the light at my expense every time. i took my car to a car shop to have the headlights replaced only to find out the bulb harnesses were burnt up. i took my car to the dealer to have the burnt up bulb harnesses replaced because that's what the remedy is and i was told my car could not be fixed with out payment. they stated that the recall was for a different car. my vin # only showed the abs/esc, door handle, and airbag harness needed to be replaced. from the look of it other people are having this same issue. chrysler needs to be held accountable to correct this issue. the issue occurred due to the abs/esc system which was recalled. *tr

Passenger side low beam headlight keeps going out/fails to light. the halogen lamp after being replaced fails the same way. if wires are jiggled, the light often will go back on, but then fails again. this has happened repeatedly. my wife contacted chrysler 1 800 853 1403 and they told her that the car was not covered under a recall. the recall involved police versions of the same car. the same problem appears to be happening in civilian versions as well. our local dealership is pleading "ignorance" and wants to charge us to repair what is obviously as design/engineering defect. what is scary is the defect in police cars also notes a tie-in to a fuse box and control panels that could result in a crash. this vehicle only has between 12,000 to 13,000 miles on it as of today's date. my wife is absolutely afraid to drive the car at night. the 2011 dodge charger poses a dangerous problem to public safety, not only for the driver and passengers, but also to other people and property that might get hit in a crash. why do people have to die before things like this get serious attention? chrysler llc should be ashamed of itself for not stepping up. *tr

Have a 2011 dodge charger that head light went out. had it replaced and a few days later went out again. the next day car wouldn't start. had to have car towed to dealership. had to replace alternator and battery. cost over $ 800 to get fixed. don't understand with so many complaints that are identical why dodge hasn't had a recall. seen where police cars have been recalled. going to contact an attorney to see what options i have bc this is just wrong. *tr

Tl-the contact owns a 2011 dodge charger. the contact stated while driving approximately 50 mph the headlight were activated, the suddenly the passenger's side low beam headlights failed to illuminate. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who informed that the headlight wiring harness overheated and would need to be replaced. there was a recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 12v042000 (electrical system , exterior lighting , service brakes, hydraulic) and the vin was not included. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 64,000. js

Wire harness to drivers side low beam headlight has melted. seems like a common problem w/ this make, model, and year of this vehicle. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge charger. the contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle erroneously decelerated then the battery saving, abs, and traction control warning lights illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis. the technician stated that the battery and the alternator would have to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 50,400.

I had pulled out of a parking lot maybe made it half a mile. the abs light came on the traction light came smoke was pouring out the hood. before i could pull in the parking lot my lights went out before i could safely get in a place to park my steering would not work. my car has very few miles on it and has been taken care of. the car was completely dead. if you look back on this car an all the recalls. there is complaint after complaint on alternators. *tr

I currently own a 2011 dodge charger and i got into my car and noticed that all of the lights were on in the dash board from the wind shield wipers, power steering service light was flashing, brake lights i mean every light was on. i took the car to the dealer because i purchased the car december 2012 and i remember the dealer saying that i had the previous owners warranty but to find out i only had the power train warranty and was told that i had to pay $120.00 just for a diagnostic. my husband was furious and took the car to another shop and they stated that the car just needed fuses when all of the fuses were replaced all of the lights went off but the power steering went all the way out so now i have not been able to drive my car until i can get the money to see what is wrong with the power steering it is unfortunate that my car has been sitting up for 2 months now. a fairly new car and i am having these problems this is just crazy i check the dodge website for recalls and i didn't see anything. *tr

While sitting in a parking lot my 2011 dodge charger battery light came on. i turned my vehicle off and tried to re-start it but nothing. i called aaa the technician tried to jump start it but my battery wouldn't take the charge. after testing the battery it was completely dead. he tested the alternator and said it was sending 344 amps through the battery. so 178.00 later he hooked up a new battery told me it will last till i get home but unhook it as soon as i get home..the next day i took it to my dodge dealer where they determined and also informed me it was the alternator and dodge was going to recall them soon, but it will not be covered till the recall was announced at the end of november 4 weeks . so i had to pay over 600.00 plus 178.00 for the battery. i asked if i would be reimbursed, they said i would have to take that up with customer support..very very upset.. *tr

Low beam headlight went out. changed it and the very next day went out again. looked to see the harness was burnt. high beams work fine. checked to see if it had a recall, chrysler said no. will be contacting my lawyer since i've noticed everyone has been having the same issue. i think every dodge charger will have this problem and there are too many for them to recall, so they are going to get a gang of $ off of repairs. *tr

Driving home from school when i smelled hot what seemed to be wire coating melting. the passenger light went out, so i found a parts store and purchased a new light put it in saw that the wiring connector to the light was black and crispy, took note, one day later the bulb went out again, this time i opened the hood looked at the light and it was burned to a crisp, took the bulb out and the wire connection was melted beyond repair and the light casing was completely burned out. the wire connection had bare wire melted outer insulation was melted right off of the wire. i took the bulb out and started looking at why. i am not happy to see the issue, i have had my new to me car for only a month, will this be an expensive fix or will dodge help fix it ? *tr

Multiple incidents of headlamp burning out in rapid succession. replaced each time with new only to happen again. wires on harness for headlamp are melting, causing burnout. dealer wants to charge to replace "headlamp assembly" (pn 57010411ae/ac/ad), but there is a recall on police models for this exact issue under chrysler m01 recall/nhtsa recall 12v042000. chrysler says recall complete and refuses to fix for free, but obviously those previously recalled vehicles weren't the only ones affected as evidenced by other complaints here. i should not have to spend nearly $500 to repair a known issue on a two year old vehicle. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge charger. the contact stated that the passenger's side headlight stopped illuminating. the contact replaced the bulb but the failure recurred. the driver's side headlight also stopped illuminating. the failure recurred three times. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic for diagnosis. the mechanic stated that the bulb harness connector was melted. there was a recall under nhtsa campaign number: 12v042000 (electrical system , exterior lighting , service brakes, hydraulic) however, the manufacturer advised that the vin was not included in the recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 46,000.

Drove up to a transmountain rest stop to enjoy the view, start smelling an electrical burning smell other cars were there so i didn't think it would be a car i have only had for a year (3 year old car)..hour later i go back to my car to leave and when i press the button to start, all i hear is a click then silence, nothing is on so i try again and once again nothing..got out and popped my hood open and there i saw my alternator all fried up and smoking, no longer covered in warranty so it cost me $700 to replace the alternator and the battery it killed when it fried. *tr

On my daily routine home, out of the blue, my esc light comes on. immediately im concerned and notice some loss of power. no less than a minute later my abs light comes on as well! so i pull over and shut off the car and then cut it back on, no luck. the car starts but the engine won't cut on and both lights are still on. so i cut it off again and wait a few then attempt to cut it on again and it gets worse! the car reads "no key detected" and then completely shuts off. so i immediately assume the battery is dead and call my brother for a jump. he comes and jumps me and no success. the driver info still reads "no key detected". so now im left wondering what's gone wrong. i had it towed to the dealership for service and notice that this vehicle has already been serviced for an esc/abs light recall back in may of 2012. so this leads me to believe that this is a serious electrical issue. like some other owners i too also have a burnt out passenger side headlights wiring and definitely expressed my concerns if that could be causing an uneven power distribution. its so disappointing. this is the second time in 3 months my car has been brought in for major service. frankly i no longer feel confident behind the wheel of my vehicle. winter is fast approaching and don't want to get stuck on the side of the road with no power and no heat. minor issues are one thing but major issues on a late model car is alarming. im certainly not happy and really am at the tipping point of surrendering this vehicle. at this point what else am i to do?! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge charger. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the driver side headlight intermittently failed. the failure recurred on several occasions. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the wiring harness needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 32,000.

Backing out of the driveway and noticed driver side low beam was out. took it to the dealership and they told me to replace the bulb. bought the bulb and approx. 4 days later low beam was out again along with the a/c going in and out. took it back and was told this time that it was faulty wiring in the harness and needed to be replaced because it had melted, which is the same issue that was repaired in june 2012 due to the recall. replaced the harness and on the same day of payment and retrieving the car, the passenger side fog light was out. obviously by this point i was extremely disappointed with this problem as this was the 4th visit. took it back a 5th time for the fog light. they replaced the bulb and after 2 days the other fog light shorted out. absolutely fed up with the problem i decided to take the car to a different dodge dealership. upon diagnostic i'm told that my power distribution center is melted and fuses are cracked hence the problem with the a/c and fog lights shorting out. i've researched the problems i'm having with the car only to find out that it is a common theme amongst the same year model of my car and was even told by the dealership that the problems were only recalled in police vehicles under code m01. i was also told that if the problem isn't fixed it could lead to the vehicle being completely unable to start. after dealing with headquarters and 2 dealerships i'm being told that i'm out of warranty at 55,000 miles and the repair is $984. the dealer came back with a goodwill offer of $500 that is only valid for 30 days. to me this is an admission of guilt yet they still do not want to repair and i'm left driving in an unsafe vehicle. corporate chrysler told me that the problems i'm having do fit the parameters of recall m01 but since my vehicle is not on the list, i cannot be helped. what does that tell you? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge charger. the contact stated that the front passenger's side headlight continuously failed. the contact replaced the bulb multiple times but the failure was recurring. additionally, the contact found that the low beam headlight wiring harness was melted into the bulb fixture. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id numbers: 12v042000 (electrical system , exterior lighting , service brakes, hydraulic) or 12v197000 (electrical system , service brakes, air). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired or inspected for diagnosis of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 40000.

Right low beam has gone out three times over the past three months. after further review of the wiring connector that holds the bulb, the connector is melted and will no longer illuminate a bulb. after calling chrysler's recall to inquire as to if they will fix the issue, because there is a similar recall for the police only models, i was told no. i will have to pay out of pocket to have the entire harness and wiring replaced. this is a design defect that chrysler/dodge will not take responsibility for. due to the headlight being out, i can barely drive my car. i am unable to drive my car at night for fear of having no visibility or a collision. the recall that was sent was m01, however chrysler states that this recall is only applicable to 2011-2012 police vehicles. *tr

The passenger side low beam headlight appeared to have burned out. this was not the case. the headlamp harness for the low beam headlight became so hot it melted and began smoking. this is an apparent serious problem in this year model. there have been several complaints about this and the only recall is for police vehicles. the rest of us have to fork money out of pocket to fix a clear and apparent manufacturing defect and major safety issue. this happened to me while i was driving on an unlit roadway after dark. my headlight went out and began smoking. i had to pull over and disassemble my headlight assembly to keep it from smoking. *tr

Wiring harness on low beam passenger side headlight failed (shorted out), causing visibility issues. *tr

The morning of july 5, 2013 i started my car and all the dash lights came on. it had done this once before but only for a second and then all was fine.this time they didn't turn off and when i started to drive it was making "whining" noise. i called the dealership and told them what was going on. they told me to drive to the dealership right away. they called later that afternoon to tell me it was the alternator was bad and causing a short. since the car was past 36,000 miles it's not covered under warranty! it cost me about $800 to replace the alternator. i'm not sure what the exact problem was with the alternator, but i just had it at the dealership a month prior for an oil change and they "said" the car checked out fine. i have had numerous issues with this car! 35,5019 miles, they replaced 3 of the 6 pistons, thankfully it was under warranty. 45,778 miles, the alternator failed. around 50,000 miles, one of the fuel pumps needed to be replaced because it was cracked on the top. the car smelled like gas for a month after fixing it. the mechanic that replaced it said he has never seen them brake like that and it was very odd. recently at about 57,000, we replaced the actuator in the diver side a/c unit. the noise started about 6 months prior but financially we were unable to repair it until now. it is past the mileage for lemon law but dodge should not leave the consumer to pay for their mistakes and poor quality. *tr

The headlight jumper assembly melted and began smoking on the driver's side. the passenger side did the same thing at 35600 miles. there is a recall for the police model, but not the standard model. believe it is a safety issue and should be handed by the dodge corporation. *tr

Driver-side low beam bulb appeared to be burned out - took to dealer and they found the wiring harness was burned (just as described in recall m05 for police vehicles) and had to be replaced. i really wish they had replaced both sides since they had it all apart (have to take bumper off to get to headlights which is another sad story) - they covered this fix but only because i had vehicle on extended warranty this should be a passenger vehicle recall too. now i have to wait around for it to happen to passenger- side (or to driver side again, since cause of harness melting seems likely to be something deeper than just the harness/wiring itself - voltage regulation or ??? i don't know, but replacing it with the exact same part doesn't seem like a permanent solution). *tr

The low beam headlamps of some vehicles could fail due to an overheated bulb harness connector. my vehicle 2011 dodge charger has this problem and chrysler has a recall but not for my vehicle. i called chrysler customer service without any help to fix this in my vehicle. i want chrysler to fix this problem in all dodge vehicles not just certain vehicles. you can find this on their website for recalls. chrysler is recalling certain model year 2011 and 2012 dodge charger police vehicles. consequences: this could lead to loss of visibility and/or braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash. remedy: chrysler will notify owners and dealers will replace the headlamp jumper harnesses and relocate the abs/esc system fuse within the power distribution center, free of charge. the safety recall began on april 2, 2012. owners may contact chrysler at 1-800-853-1403. potential units affected: 9137 read more: http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2011/dodge/charger/recalls/#ixzz2xhdwvqrg. *tr

I was driving going about 40mph and my radio and air start going on and off by it self then i start hearing a wining noise and all the warning lights came on dash and car shut down i tried to start it and nothing info said key not detected i changed battery in remote and got a jump an hour later some thing what causes this problem. *tr

2011 dodge charger drivers side low beam headlight went out during low visibility, further investigation revealed the wiring harness leading up to the bulb overheated and is resulting in intermittent operation. it is sometimes possible to manually move wires to get the headlight back on but eventually it goes back out. head light has been replaced a couple of times but this is not the root cause, root cause is something is causing the wires to overheat. *tr

Low beam headlight on the driver side is out. i took my vehicle to my local dealership to find out they had 4 dodge charges in on that very same day due to the same issue. i was advised it may not be the bulb but the harness and wiring. the service department confirmed it was the harness and wires. he showed me the fried wires and advised there is a recall for the 2011 chargers for the very same issue but it's only for police vehicles. if the product is bad or improperly put together the recall should be for everyone not only for police vehicles. i have seen other complaints regarding this same issue and some people have documented that this issue has caused fires in their vehicles due to faulty wiring. this should be a safety issue for everyone. please make this a recall for all vehicles not only for police vehicles. *tr

My car constantly died while driving, before stalled displayed battery save mode, this killed my battery my car had only 46 206 miles i had to have my battery and alternator replaced i paid $ 785.41 for the alternator at the dealer and $ 143.19 for the battery, this is absolutely ridiculous for a vehicle that was only two years old at the time, obviously this car has alternator problems which is a danger for the people in the car and other people or vehicles around it, chrysler has to issue a safety recall because this is a very serious safety issue. *tr

Passenger side headlight wiring harness shorted and melted headlight wiring harness causing smoke and excessive heat, if left the vehicle would have caught fire. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge charger. the contact stated that while braking to a stop, the vehicle started smoking as all of the lights on the instrument panel and dashboard started to flicker. the contact then crashed into the rear of another vehicle. there were no injuries. the contact and several child passengers became locked into the vehicle for several minutes due to the door locks failing. the door was opened after multiple attempts. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the contact was advised that the battery and alternator failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 65,000. kmj

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge charger. the contact stated that the battery saver warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician diagnosed that there was a dead cell in the battery that needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. however, the failure returned immediately after leaving the dealer. the contact returned to the dealer and was advised to drive the vehicle and the code would clear independently. the battery saver mode continued to illuminate. the vehicle was taken to a different dealer who stated that the alternator was faulty. the technician later determined that the voltage regulator needed to be repaired. the repair was performed. the failure returned. in addition, the contact stated the headlight assembly failed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the headlight assembly was burned out. the vehicle was repaired but since the failure persisted the vehicle was returned to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the a new pcm would resolve the issue. the manufacturer was notified of the issue. the approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
