Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge charger. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a repair shop and while being test driven, the mechanic found a failure with the steering. the mechanic stated that the vehicle had a telescopic steering system. as a result, whenever it was in a forward position the vehicle failed to turn since it was in contact with a metal piece. the vehicle was taken to dealer. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure and current mileage was 97,065.

Nearly every time i refuel the vehicle it stalls 4-6 times in the first 5 miles. this has left me in turns without power steering, on highway on ramps without power steering or brakes, and sitting in busy intersections attempting to re-start the car. it is worse if i turn left after gassing up - car will immediately die while in the intersection. this has happened approximately 30 times in the last 10 months. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge charger. the contact stated that the front end of the vehicle would rattle when driving over any type of road bump. the contact also stated that the steering wheel would become very stiff when the failure occurred. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the tension struts, lower ball joints and tie rods would need replacing. the contact stated that the tie rods had also been replaced on august 4, 2010. the failure and the current mileages were 99,033. updated 9/10/12 *cn updated 09/17/2012 *js

I was ready to leave work for the night and my car would not shift out of park we tried to use the emergency release button on the side of the gear shift but it didn't work.i called a mechanic and he came out googled the problem and saw that it may have been a shifter assembly defect,as he looked at the assembly there was noted to b a cable wire the was also dislodged,he advised me to have the car towed to a dodge dealer for repair.the car was taken to the dealership and the entire shifter assembly and cable had to be installed. *tr

After fueling my 2006 dodge charger r/t, the car will begin to sputter and completely shut-off. this results in the loss of power steering and having to put the car into park in order to restart. it will occur multiple times, sometimes while idling, before it will begin to act normally.it has been happening for several months. at first, it was sporadic but now it is everytime i fill up the gas tank. it can be very dangerous as it can happen anytime and without warning. *tr

Every time you fill up the gas tank the car wants to stall. i'm told there is a solenoid in the gas tank that fails and it lets raw fuel go to the evap canister causing a stall condition. this solenoid valve is molded into the gas tank and the only way to fix it is to replace the gas tank. this stall can happen while your sitting at a stop light or just pulling out into an intersection. the intersection situation is very dangerous. *tr

At certain speeds my vehicle will vibrate. going over speed bumps or into even the slightest pot hole the vehicle will vibrate. when slowing down or coming to a stop the front end will vibrate. took the vehicle to the dealership and they advised my front tires needed to be changed and/or rotated to the back due to an unusual wearing on the tires. the wear was on the outisde of the tires. when took the vehicle back into chrysler dodge jeep dealer service department they advised i will probably soon be needing new tire rod ends and this is what may have caused my front tires to wear so easily. especially purchasing the car used in july 2010 with all brand new tires and now needing to replace all four and its only december 2011. service department manager advised this was a big issue with the early model chargers but chrysler still has yet to issue a recall. i prolonged taking the vehicle in to purchase new tire rods. i went in recently for an oil change and the service manager advised me i no longer need to be driving my vehicle with the rods i have on. it was a recommendation earlier but now he is highly advising me not to drive. within 3 oil changes the rods have diminished greatly. something needs to be done chrysler is letting the purchasers take the butt-end of this issue.

I took my car in to the dealer for an alignment and they had to replace the tie rod assembly on both wheels. my car had just turned 50,000 miles. *tr

I bought my 2006 dodge charger r/t brand new in june of 2006. i always filled the tank with gas until the pump automatically shutoff. i never topped off with gas or continued filling the tank once the pump would automatically stop. this was never a problem for 5 years. last year in october of 2011 at around 73,000 miles the car would stall and turn off the engine occasionally right after filling up in live traffic usually at a stop light or parking lot driveway. i would have to put the transmission shifter from drive to park since the vehicle shut off and restart the car with no problem. today at 75,600 miles on march 27, 2012; i filled up as usual and the car engine turned off in traffic on 3 different occasions. i read on chrysler owners' forums online this is a common problem with plenty of chrysler vehicles and chrysler is aware of it. the fix is a whole new fuel tank with a better fuel vapor valve and the cost would run $1300-$2000 for various car, van, and truck owners. the only other method i was advised by a dodge service advisor was not to fill the car up all the way, perhaps to 3/4 of a tank full. this is dangerous for any driver when a car engine stops, steering locks, and there is traffic behind you. some drivers will not know how to react in this situation. chrysler should offer a recall to fix this problem with the gas tank instead of charging the owner. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge charger. the contact stated that the front end of the vehicle shook and the steering shaft was loose. the dealer stated that the tie rod ends were worn and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 63,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge charger. while driving various speeds, the steering wheel shook violently. there were no warning indicators illuminated. while driving various speeds, the contact heard a clicking noise underneath the vehicle. the contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road, turned the vehicle off, and restarted it and was able to drive. vehicle was taken to hendrick dodge (81 mackenan dr, cary nc 27511, (919) 439-5394) where an alignment was completed; however, the failure recurred. the contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the steering column needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 300,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge charger. the contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the power steering assist failed followed by the vehicle stalling. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the fuel tank would need to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified and they offered to cover seventy-five percent of the repair cost. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 75,000 and the current mileage was 102,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge charger. the contact stated that the tie rod that controlled the steering fractured while driving 40 mph around a curve. there was a clunking noise which caused the steering to become uncontrollable. the vehicle had to be pulled to the curb while the contact pumped the brake pedal to come to a complete stop. after the vehicle was stopped, the front driver side tire was protruding inward. the vehicle was towed to a repair shop where the contact was awaiting diagnosis of the failure. neither the dealer nor the manufacturer werr contacted. the failure mileage was 113,163.

After filling up the gas tank, within minutes i was turning left in an intersection when the engine stopped and the steering became very difficult and an accident was barely avoided. this was extremely dangerous because of oncoming traffic. in fact i was almost struck by two vehicles, one coming at me and the other behind me. i restarted the car, drove through the intersection for about 5-10 seconds and the car stopped again, same steering difficulties. started the car a third time and it moved forward with no more stops. this has happened at least 20 more time in the past 3 years. additionally, within the past 6 months, it has been very difficult to put fuel into the tank. it would take about 20 minutes because the nozzle would shut off. i could only put in very small amounts each squeeze of the handle. i find this not only annoying but also question the design of the whole fuel receiving and storage system of this vehicle. i have asked my local dodge dealership about the problems and was advised that a new gas tank would have to be installed for approximately $1,200! a new gas tank? that would confirm in my mind that these problems are caused absolutely by a design flaw and should be recalled and repaired asap before there are fatalities linked to this flaw.

Problem occurred and continues to occur after filling up the gas tank. first instance was in november 2010 and most recently december 2013. car will stall numerous times until some amount of gas is burned off after driving. first instance occurred making a turn in front of a railroad track. other instances have been on a freeway in heavy traffic causing me to have to pull over. car can restart on the first re-attempt or take up to 4 attempts. car will usually stall again seconds later. a workaround is not to fill up the tank all the way (to the auto shutoff of the gas pump) but this doesn't always work. this is with a 2006 dodge charger with a 5.7 liter hemi. chrysler denied the issue back in 2010 although the problem was starting to be documented on the internet at that time. *tr

2006 charger rt front end i have replaced inner and outer tie rod ends and a wheel bearing over 61k miles. the front end wobbles badly at high speed. parts (tension struts) are national back order etc etc. any dealer and/or local service station will tell you that there front ends are very weak and not durable. the components last for just about the min warrant (3/36) period. *tr

I have a dodge charger rt 06. i took it to the dealership a year ago to replace a part on the front end. there was a noise coming from the front end. now recently, i almost got into an accident because brakes almost didn't stop me in time and i wasn't speeding. before all of this, when i speed up, the front end and steering wheel shakes or wobbles and this has me worried. if by chance i encounter bad weather, because i do live in michigan, i hope something on the charger doesn't fail when i need it the most. to of my friends have also experience problems with 300 c's and chargers. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge charger. the contact stated that the steering wheel began to vibrate while driving approximately 65 mph. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they stated that the drivers side outer tie rod end needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 61,785. ..updated 09/21/11 *bf updated 12/13/11*jb

Have to replace both lower tie-rods on my 2006 charger.car has only 37,500 miles. *tr

The vehicle described in this form has had the right tie rod ends replaced twice within a year by a certified dodge dealership using mopar parts. 4/15/2010 the right tie rod end was replaced with tie rod end part number 52013468-ac and hex nut part number 6505623-aa with only 29,458 miles on the vehicle. 12/16/2010 the right tie rod end was replaced with tie rod end part number 52013468-ad and hex nut part number 6505623-aa with only 38,954 miles on the vehicle. the defective right tie rod ends were found during routine maintenance performed prior to a front end alignment.

At 18,500 we had to replace the left front outer tie rod end. now at 33,000 we are being told the same thing. i have on line and see that there are quite a few others with this same problem. this is a serious issue and would like something done as far as a review or something. one gentleman was going 55 mph when his broke and they crashed. i don't want this to be me nor do we have over $400 to put towards this car every 15k miles. *tr

1. we have been experiencing steering and driving problems such as making a right turn the steering wheel locks up or wants to go straight(this being the worst so far).over the past 2 months the cars front end has been gradually been getting worse. *tr

I have a 2006 dodge daytona charger r/t. 28881 miles 3 yrs and 3 months old. just replaced passenger side outside tie rod end and need to replace tension strut also on passenger side. now i need to check other tie rod ends because i think there going bad also. also passenger side shock is leaking. this should not be happening to a vehicle at 3 yrs old and 28881 miles. car is not driven hard. *tr

Dodge charger. rotor/brake trouble. squeaking during 5-15mph, and violent vehicle shaking when stopping during 30+mph. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge charger. the contact stated that the power steering assist failed and the steering wheel completely detached from the steering column. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the tie rod on the front passenger side was cracked. as a result, the inner and outer tie rods, as well as the control arm would need replacing. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 85,000 and the current mileage was 114,000.

I purchased my dodge charger in august of 06. at 22,316 miles, i started experiencing a clunking in the front end. the left outer tie rod needed to be replaced. it was covered by the warranty. i purchased the extended warranty for 5/50,000. at 51,972 the clunking returned. the remaining tie rods, inner and outer, including the one that was replaced at 22,316 had to be replaced. as of now my car has 67,800 miles on it and in between 51,972 and 67,800 miles, the clunking has returned several times. i have had a left control arm, lower ball joint, sway bar link, control arm bushings, rt and lt tension struts and sway bar bushings all replaced. i think for a car with only 67,000 miles on it...... this is way too many problems, especially when all the problems are in one area of the car. it sure would be great if dodge would own up to these front end problems and stand by their product and help the american consumers out with the repair bills. *tr

I have a 2006 dodge charger with 47,000 miles on it. when i went to my mechanic to have the tires rotated (goodyear), they advised me that the steering tie rod (rt side) was so badly worn they did not even want me to drive it home ( i have saved the part). it is a sealed unit and should not need any lubrication other than what was initially designed into the part. obviously if one loses steering ability at speed the consequences could be significant. interestingly, the mechanic told me that i got the last one available in the milwaukee area. it makes me wonder if all the others were used for a similar replacement defect and/or it is being redesigned. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge charger. while coming to a stop, the steering wheel vibrated. the contact examined the vehicle and noticed that pieces of the front tires were shearing off. the contact took the vehicle to a tire dealer and was informed that the vehicle could not be aligned. the vehicle was diagnosed by the dealer and the tie rod ends were replaced. the current mileage was 27,200 and failure mileage was 25,500.

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge charger. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for regular maintenance. the contact had the mechanic check the tie rod ends because they failed and needed to be replaced on three previous occasions. the diagnosis was that the tie rod ends needed to be replaced. there are no warning indicators prior to the failures. the current mileage was 42,900 and failure mileage was 18,000.

Our 2006 dodge charger was showing symptoms of the wheels being out of alignment, and we had it checked out by a mechanic. we knew what he was going to say before he came back with his assessment; its the tie rods once again. we have had problems with the tie rods on this car from the 3rd month of owning it. we have had it fixed by the dealer 3 times along with new brakes and tires at the cost of $2,000 each time. we drive 20 miles a day to and from work, there is no reason for the tie rods to be replaced. i have complained to the dealership and they told me that it is an issue that we will continue to have and there is nothing we can do about it. he had 4 chargers in that day with the same issue. i contacted chrysler 2 days ago because we need to have the tie rods fixed for the 4th time. they told me they would forward my complaint to the product development team. chrysler needs to own up to the defective products they are selling! i'm afraid for our family of 4 to ride in this car. do people have to die before an investigation is warranted? i want to get rid of this car but i hate to pawn it off on another family, its dangerous! please do an investigation, and ask dealerships and mechanics how many defective tie rods they place on these cars a day. *tr

in the last 2 months my son had mentioned to me that he thought my charger might be having a transmission problem. i had also noticed and mentioned it to the service department when i had my oil changed and tires rotated. they checked the fluids, etc, but found nothing of concern. on tuesday, nov 27, 2007 i drove about 60 miles to cincinnati for a doctor's appointment and to take an elderly friend to lunch. after i arrived with in the 275 by-pass loop i traveled mostly on local roads at speeds of 30-45 pmh. when returning my friend to her apartment for some reason i did not hop in the freeway, which i usually do. i took a cross cut road that i had not taken for over a year. as i pulled into the apartment parking space the car seemed to be straining as if the brake were on. when i backed up to leave, the car barely moved. i got out and walked around the car but saw nothing unusual. i again tried to back out with the same difficulty. i then decided i would drive the car around the parking lot before i attempted to drive on the highway. when i again backed up there was a clang. this time when i walked around the car the right front tire was at a sharp angle but the other three tires were not. i looked under the car behind this wheel and saw the problem. the tie rod was hanging down on the asphalt. i did not move the car again and immediately called for a tow truck from my home town. when checked, it was determined that the connector for the tie rod (to the wheel) had worn down. the other front wheel was checked and the same wear was found. i had both replaced and have the two damaged tie rods. needless to say, i was very relieved that i was not driving at a high speed. because my car is a 2006, this seems to be an unusual situation. it could explain why i had to replace all 4 tires at around 34,000 miles. hopefully this was just a fluke, but i felt it was ...

The power steering rack inthe 2006 dodge chargerwas making a whinning noise and was very hard to steer. brought it in to the certified dealership and was expected to pay $1200 to replace the power steering pump and rack. thiswas absurd, the cars' warrant ywas 36000 miles, my car is at 39,000 miles. this was unfair, and after researching other consumers with the 2.7 litre engine expierenced the same problem, this should be recalled. instances of this problem have even resulted in death. i'm very upset.*ak

Dodge cavalier had a faulty shifter and dealer acknowledges that it could not be fixed. had it fixed , and it went out again within 24 hours of pick up the vehicle. mechanics told me that they will fix it, but it will go out again. *ak

The problem started when i bought it brand new and kept bringing back to the dealer. failure to find problem. notice a lot of other customers having the same problem. brought car to an expert and found the suspension which includes shocks, struts, brakes etc. were not the right part for this model. expert changed necessary parts and have not had a problem there after. expert did research and dealer wanted to know what he did to fix it and he would not comply. they should do the research and fix the problem. i hope everyone files a complaint and i would tell dodge they fix it or i will file a defect lawsuit for complete refund of a $42,000 car plus inconvenience. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge charger. the current mileage on the vehicle is 15,500. when driving 60 mph or higher the entire vehicle vibrates. the vehicle had been taken to the dealer for this reason; however the dealer had been unable to duplicate the problem. the contact did not want to guess the failure mileage.

I have taken my car to the dealership 5 times to have issues fixed. each time i got the car back, it was worse. i had 13 issues originally with the car. i ended up suing, and got a very small settlement- dodge refused to cooperate. i still have each and every problem, and do not know what else to do. my car dies while in reverse, the brakes malfunction constantly, the window panel remains broken due to their inept work, the radio cuts off, the dash lights die @ night, etc. i would truly appreciate it if someone could actually help me. i do not know what else to do. i love my car dearly, but something needs to be done. the date i put as date of incident is when this all started. *tr

I am about to file a lemon law complaint because dodge has been "unable to duplicate" the most serious problems that have plagued my vehicle, a 2006 dodge charger r/t, since day four of my ownership. i have owned this car for 68 days and of those, i have only been able to drive the functioning car for 19 days. they have fixed a number of minor issues and notified me that they would be unable to fix or do not know how to fix at this time, some minor issues including the air conditioning compressor problems (which they say they have also been "unable to duplicate". the serious issues that are occurring when it idles, when it accelerates and with what seems to be the suspension and possibly both the engine and transmission. of those 68 days, they have come to pick up my car on three different occasions to try and fix it, the last time (which continues currently) they have had my car for four weeks. i happen to know (upon researching after the prolonged period they have had the car) that tsb's or technical service bulletins have been issued for every problem that is occurring with my car. additionally, i have taken my car to two different mechanics (one dodge dealership and one independent mechanic) that have witnessed these malfunctions. i would like to know what my options are legally for getting some kind of resolution. *jb
