We have classified the 104 complaints from 2007 Chrysler Sebring about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
Attempted to start vehicle in the morning, turned the key to crank motor and the engine would not start but continued to crank. eventually it stopped cranking, i attempted to start vehicle again then it started. began driving my car down the highway and the air bags light started going off and stayed on for the rest of my drive. also while driving around corners the brake light will go off as well as going down some hills. *tr
Engine is stalling once car is cranked. when pressing the brakes to put car in reverse or drive, the car cuts off. once able to get into drive and try to drive, the car's brakes can not be touched or the car will stop instantly. the car also does stop and go driving like it's pulling on something heavy. *tr
When my husband drives my car, he moves the seat back. when i drive my car, i move the seat forward. this action causes the airbag light on the dash to come on. when i move the electronically controlled seat forward/backward, the airbag light will "sometimes" go off. the nhtsa ref 07v240000 references a recall for the front seat track position sensor. i contacted chrysler to see if my car is one that has been recalled. i'm told that it is not. i think it should be. *tr
I was driving the vehicle on the highway. the etc light came on and the car would not accelerate. coasted to the side of the road, turned car off, then back on and it ran fine. it has done this at least 30 times since. now my etc light blinks and car will only go 10-20 mph, slows to 5mph going up any grade. idle is rough and idles between 1500 and 2000. sometimes when i first start the car it will run okay for about 2-3 minutes then etc light suddenly come on, car decelerates and i have almost been hit several times. now the brake light comes on and off as does the check engine light. the dealer does not know what is wrong. this seems to be a common problem with this model vehicle. chrysler needs to do something before someone is seriously injured or killed. i will never buy another chrysler product because they will not fix this problem, always say they do not know what the problem is. *tr
I purchased the vehicle listed above in 2011 at city auto plaza while under warranty. the vehicle served my purpose as it was for work and now school only fuel efficient. about 6 or 7 months ago i began to experience an intermittent problem with vehicle it would crank but not start. i would have the vehicle towed to my local mechanic and not faulty codes were discovered. this happened about three or four times until frustrated i parked the vehicle around the first of february 2013 and used my other vehicle for school. the other day i decided to have the vehicle looked at by another local dealership near my home not the chrysler dealership were purchased my dealing with the dealership folks are not positive or beneficial to me. the mechanic at buddy rays auto care in canon city checked the vehicle and traced the problem to a connection wiring system that was attached to the fuel pump. from their explanation the vehicle was in danger of catching fire if this problem persisted. i contacted my local dealership in an attempt to report this matter and they have not assisted telling me instead that the car had to be in their shop. because of the danger posed by this problem i have had the vehicle repaired at a cost of 765.00 dollars to replace the fuel pump, and wiring connectors plus labor. my concern for this car having less than 100,000 miles in my opinion should not have face this type of malfunction in the fuel and electrical system. *tr
My chrysler sebring's electronic throttle control light goes on for a second or 2 and then goes back off randomly. the car idles high and seem to want to stall out. the vehicle will go into limp mode when the etc light is solid and won't go more than 10-15mph. there is no check engine light and mechanic found no codes to tell what was wrong. i have been on the freeway or city streets when it will randomly go into limp mode and have to safely maneuver away from traffic as vehicle slows with no response from the gas peddle. i have read online that many other people have had this safety problem and no one seems to be able to fix it or find the source. i observed many others spending hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on different speculated parts that "may" cause this to happen. the best scenario after people replaced different parts was that the vehicle was fine for maybe a week or two but the problems came right back. i hope with your help we can put an end to this unsafe condition of this vehicle and protect the consumers. thank you for reading this and taking my experience and many others into consideration. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chrysler sebring. the contact stated that the vehicle would sporadically stall when driving at various speeds, attempting a turn or when braking to a stop. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the alternator was replaced but the failure was not remedied. the manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number 08v152000 (electrical system). the failure mileage was 48,000.
While traveling in virginia on int.64 the electronic throttle control warning light came on and the car lost power. i turned the car off waited a minute and the car was fine. this has happened three times in the past. dealer claimed it was fixed and it keeps happening periodically. normally on trips. *tr
The instrument panel light that illuminates the speedometer and other gauges works randomly. airbag warning light illuminates and the warning bell sounds at random times. engine stalls when stopping and starting in wet weather. *tr
The dash lights started blinking like a strobe light now they will just be off completely and randomly come back on. when they are off at night i cannot see my speed gas or temp. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chrysler sebring. the contact started the ignition and the instrument panel cluster displayed a dim lighting and then suddenly failed to illuminate. the failure occurred sporadically and also when the vehicle was in operation. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the instrument panel cluster. the failure recurred after the repair. the vehicle had not been repaired for the second failure. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
I have had my vehicle in for service on two different occasions for the same problem, the check engine light won't go off and now my vehicle will not engage out of park. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chrysler sebring. while parked, the contact noticed that the tire pressure warning light was illuminated as the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the manufacturer stated to the contact that there was a recall for the failure under nhtsa campaign id number: 08v152000 (electrical system:wiring), but the recall had already been performed. the contact inspected the tire pressure monitoring system and noticed that the wiring was melted. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 76,000.
Gas cap light has come on at least 10 times--stay on for 2-3 days, then go off for no reason-was at a local mechanic several times--been reset over and over. radio keeps blowing a fuse-replaced at least 7 times. headlights are delayed coming on when they are turned on. now at 91,000 miles-vehicle refuses to start--tries to turn over, but wont. had at local mechanic for 1 week-no codes will come up. several components replaced-still refuses to start... now being towed to chrysler dealer----and vin#--is not listed on recall. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chrysler sebring. while driving at various speeds, the contact stated that the vehicle would stall and lose all power. the failure recurred intermittently and the contact was able to successfully restart the vehicle after the failures. in addition, the contact noticed that the tire pressure monitoring system light was illuminated. the dealer informed the contact that the vin was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 08v152000 (electrical system:wiring). the contact was awaiting a response from the manufacturer. a private mechanic made several attempts to duplicate the failure, but the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 75,000.
Purchased 2007 sebring base model one month ago. had dealership complete all recalls before purchase. tail lights attached to the upper portion of the truck flooded/filled with water anytime there was rain and when you open the trunk it dumps the water on your head. all 3 break light seals were replaced and plugs removed to allow better drainage - issue resolved. emergency break light intermittently illuminates while driving - emerg break is off and new breaks installed issue still unresolved. delayed auto off headlights did not shut off. returned to vehicle 2 hours later with daytime running lights still on and since they are automatic there is no way to turn them off. after cycling the engine they shut off, but now fail to come on at all. in the base model there is no feature to turn them "on" or "off" - issue unresolved. the vehicle also refuses to change the setting to turn the "auto unlock" feature "on" when vehicle is put in park. this feature also refuses to work on "first unlock" on the key fob. the doors just continue to stay locked - issue unresolved. i hope mine does not start shutting off on me like so many other complaints. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chrysler sebring. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact took the vehicle to a mechanic where it was determined that the wiring harness was exposed and could have been corroded. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 08v152000 (electrical system) but was advised by the manufacturer that the vehicle was not included in the recall. the failure mileage was 88,000 and the current mileage was 114,928.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chrysler sebring. the contact stated the vehicle stalled numerous times without warning while driving at any speed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnostic test that was unable to locate a failure code. the dealer cleaned the fuel system and replaced the engine spark plugs, but the failure was not corrected. the vehicle continued to stall. the manufacturer stated the vin was not included in nhtsa recall campaign id number: 08v152000 electrical system: wiring, and denied assistance with the repair. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 65,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chrysler sebring. the contact stated that when driving 60-70 mph, the vehicle would exhibit a loud, abnormal grinding. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that the ball bearings in the alternator failed and the alternator would need replacing. the manufacturer was notified of the failure who provided no assistance. the failure mileage was 74,000.
I got ready to leave work and my car would not start. it kept turning but would not start. i had it towed from virginia to maryland to the dealership. after a diagnostic test it was discovered that the fuel pump pin melted out of the module. when i asked the dealer what causes the pin to melt, i was told that it was a wiring problem and that it could have possibly caused the car to catch on fire. i had to have it repaired and it was expenses. as i completed a search, i discovered that there were several other complaints regarding this same problem. *tr
I had no brake lights and the seat belt indicator light kept dinging as well as the tire low indicator. it was all because of the total intergrated power module. it was on back order for five weeks. it cost 750.00 for just the part. i feel chrysler doesn't recall these even after 1000s of complaints because it is to costly. they are making money on the part alone. i will never buy another chrysler over them not doing the right thing. i could've been rear ended over this. it cost me 995 just to get the tipm put in. i still haven't fixed the seat belt dinging or the low tire dinging yet. hate to see how much that will cost. somebody needs to make chrysler do the right thing and issue a recall. safety before anything. *tr
I purchased my car used 3 yrs ago. i paid if off this year. the ongoing troublesome issue is that the car stalls out unexpectedly- usually during wet weather. it has happened about 5 times or so. but, it has almost happened many more times...the car sputters and just about stalls out. again, all during wet weather. i contacted the dealership where i purchased car after the 1st incident. they took the car and said i needed a new battery ; that it was being drained when i had wipers, heat, radio etc all on at once and that was why it stalled. i went with it. well, it has stalled several times since. all while driving and very scary. the power steering goes out. another thing that may or may not be related...is that the dash lights flicker on and off; also a safety issue. i will be driving and all of a sudden can't see my speedometer or anything. i think there is definitely an electrical issue. i see that there have been recalls related to the electrical system. i just don't know what to do. i think they should look into this. *tr
Car has tmps and airbag lights constantly coming on for no reason - they stay on for days or weeks and then shut off. both chrylser and independent mechanic have never been able to diagnose. also, engine will lose all power while in operation at both freeway speeds and low residential speeds along with auto-start randomly not working. chrysler and independent mechanic were not able to diagnose. tried replacing alternator and still happened. replaced crank shaft sensor after looking at online forums of similar stores from other chrysler sebring owners and still occasionally happens. airbag light is now back on for no reason... again. i know gm has been having numerous recalls yet mine has never been included in recalls for both my model and other makes/models having these issues. it is incredibly scary driving speeds of 75mph to lose all power. i have to pull brake, put the car in park and shut off/restart. i am constantly fearful of it happening and getting into a crash that could be fatal. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chrysler sebring. the contact stated that the instrument panel warning lights and all of the gauges continued to illuminate constantly. the manufacturer was notified of the failure who advised that there were no recalls for the vehicle and offered no further assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 54,000.
2007 chrysler sebring. consumer states on numerous occasions the vehicle stalled without reason while driving, slowing down or making a turn. *tgw
My was making a loud knocking sounds while increasing speed, then sound would go away. took it to dealership an they stated i didn't have any problems with my car. june 2011, my car started stalling while at stop light, now my car is wanting to stall while i'm driving around 50mph. dash lights also flicker on and off. chrysler dealership states they can't find anything wrong with my car since it's not giving them codes but recommend i replace the engine. i've been reading reviews of the same problems with this car company and there cars. how are they not responsible for all these motors people are having to replace, i think they should have to fix these problems an not get away with it. *tr
Car stalls, engine stutters and hesitates when at a stop, turning or going around a bend at 30 mph. when initially stepping on the gas rpms will drop then surge (~2000 rpm). almost hit a car in a parking lot on one occasion because of a surge. also, the car stuttered and jerked on the highway. chrysler dealership reflashed pcm on one visit and ran diagnostics on another visit and found nothing wrong with the car. *tr
This car shuts off, all the light so on and off and this has been happening since it was less than a year old. we have taken it to chrysler dealership and they have said it didn't happen when they had it. the interior light comes on when you turn on right turn signal. the abs light goes on and off and the seatbelt light. *tr
I own a 2007 chrysler sebring touring sedan. sometimes when breaking or accelerating, the vehicles electronic throttle control sensor light will engage, and the car may fail to break or accelerate, or even completely turn off. this has happened to me on the highway, as well as city streets. this has become a more frequent issue over the past 6 months. the vehicle also sometimes jerks or transmission will skip when this happens. i have noticed the dashboard lights and radio turn off with no reason while driving. i was told no problems could be found with the electrical system as of this moment, and am still having these same, dangerous problems. *tr
I was on the express way going to work and the car idled down and was about to cut off when the electronic throttle control light came on and the car gas pedal would not work i had to cut it off then on before it would go and it take a long time for the transmission to change gear this car is a lemon and chrysler know it. it needs to be recalled for all these problems it only have 52,000 miles on it. it's a mess that chrysler should fix now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *tr
My car lost power without warning on the interstate and just came to a stop and the engine crank fine but would not start, change spark plugs but did not matter, the electronic throttle control indicator light came on, have to get it to. *tr
The car had a new set of spark plugs and a transmission service at 60,000 miles. the car was being driven at freeway speeds when it lost power and then was stuck in second gear. it was towed to a chrysler dealer where they serviced the transmission believing that was the problem, because the obdii system reported no current or stored error codes. they returned the car and stated that it was running rough and should have a tune up. the car was driven about 180 miles at freeway speeds when it again lost power and was stuck in second gear. this time the car was driven along the shoulder to the next off ramp at which time the check engine light came on. the car was towed to another chrysler dealer where the obdii codes showed that the catalytic converter and an oxygen sensor had failed. the dealer replaced these items. fuel economy dropped from about 30 mpg to about 23 mpg. the local dealer looked into this problem but said that the obdii system is reporting no current or stored codes so there is nothing they can do per the factory, they also have noted that the engine is running roughly. chrysler was contacted about the problem and agreed to refund the cost of the transmission service because it was not the problem. i mailed all the copies of the requested paperwork to them but they never responded back and have not paid.
I drive a 2007 chry. sebring touring edition, the air bag light keeps coming on, cruise control does not work, and everytime it rains, the entire passengers side inside the veh gets really wet. *tr
My airbag light comes on intermittently. sometimes it blinks off and on a few minutes at a time as i drive for as long as i'm driving. other times, it will stay on for 30 minutes or so continuously, then stay off. or, i can go days without it coming on. i'm afraid it's going to either deploy for no reason while i'm driving and cause an accident, or not deploy if do have an accident. my brake lights come on almost every time i stop at a light. i have had the brakes checked by a mechanic, and they couldn't find anything wrong with them. my driver's side window has occasionally begun "sticking". usually it is when i have rolled it down, it does not want to roll back up. my car is out of warranty, so i have not paid to have it hooked up to the computer at the dealership to see if there are any error codes. these have all started happening in the last three months, and are steadily getting worse. *tr
My 2007 chrysler sebring is stuck in park. *tr
My 2007 chrysler sebring caught on fire. smoke was coming from the dashboard and steering area. the abs light came on after the smoke. (ps there were no physical injuries, but mentally it's frightening, we're terrified to get back into that car! mentally 2 persons were injured. *tr
I own a 2007 sebring (vin [xxx]) with approximately 56,700 miles. i purchase the vehicle in nov. 2008 considered new with 29,000 miles from saturn of fremont, ca. the car is driven primarily by my wife to and from work and to drop off and pick up the children. after a recent oil change on may 2, 2010, my family and i noticed an extremely loud engine noise. for the first week after the oil change, the car would start fine but the noise became worse. the engine began to loose pressure while driving on the highway and as of today, will not start at all. i visited a chrysler automall dealership on sommersville road in antioch, ca on saturday may 15. i was told that i would have to pay a 130.00 diagnostic fee as the vehicle was out of warranty. i was under the impression that the vehicle was still under warranty as i was told at the time of purchase that the warranty would be extended to 3 years/60,000 miles. the technician mentioned that the noise was a radiator or fan motor. then i checked the recalls for 2007 sebrings and found two recalls (nhtsa campaign id numbers: 08vi52000 and 07v473000 regarding engine and electrical matters, one of which has the same concern that i have. i called chrysler and spoke to brittany who said my vin did not have any concerns so the company could not help me. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chrysler sebring. the contact stated that the vehicle would loose power and stall sporadically and without warning. the dealer was contacted and advised that the vin was not associated with nhtsa campaign id number: 08v152000 (electrical system:wiring). the manufacturer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 49,000.
First two complaints have been recalled and serviced. said recalls were for # 1 engine stalling and # 2 driver airbag under seat sensor illuminating on and off on dash. even after the service was performed for the recalls, i still have engine stalling during stops and on deceleration the vehicle threatens to stall. i need to keep giving gas and on humid days that is indicative of possible rain the threat is more often. the second recall complaint that i am still experiencing is the air bag illuminator on dash for the drivers side goes on and off and the wires under the drivers seat are involved when driver seat moves front or back. stalling is a safety issue that can cause personal injury or death to occupants in this car or nearby cars sharing the road. also the air bag sensor problem keeps me in fear that the airbag will not deploy when necessary or will deploy accidentally on its own while the vehicle is in motion. i also have a complaint that the car when braking for a stop continued to rev causing me to use the emergency break and i had to shut off the car to stop the car totally.i have noticed that this issue is common with other peoples complaint and an inquiry would seem imminent for safety reasons. the dealership knowing the recalls have not secured the proper handling of my vehicle's safety wants to charge a diagnostic fee or a service fee when it is clear that the proper service was not rendered causing recall malfunctions to this date. for the two complaints that have recalls that i am inquiring about need to be addressed to the dealership asap for service and i would appreciate the outcome of this complaint in writing. as for the accelerator problem i would like to be kept abreast if a safety issue is mandated for the repair of that complaint. thank you. *tr
2007 chrysler sebring touring. consumer states engine fire and inspector found no indication of a manufacturing defect that caused or contributed to the incident. *tgw
This is a 2007 chrysler sebring touring sedan with 2.7 l "flex-fuel" engine purchased used (one prior owner in wi) on 05-22-09 with 31554mi. according to "carfax" the original owner had regular timely maintenance done. on 07-11-08 at 21199mi the first complaint was made at purchasing dealership about engine "stutter" or "jitter" at 30mph particularly when engine was cold. no record as to what was serviced. on 10-24-08 at 25276mi the egr valve was replaced per a chrysler service bulletin. then on 01-30-09 at 27988mi concerning the same sort of "stutter" or jitter" complaint, a "co-pilot" was attached for 1 month which recorded no faults. the vehicle was offered for sale on 05-14-09. i have noted the same sort of problem since my purchase of the vehicle on 05-22-09. when coming to a slow or stop, particularly if the engine is cold (but not always), the rpm rises to over 2000, the car "surges" ahead until i press the brake harder. (this condition causes a much higher chance of a collision with another stopped car, pedestrian in a crosswalk or a stationary object - like a light post in a parking lot.) sometimes the engine will stop after this and require restarting. one time i observed the "service engine soon" lamp come on for about 5 seconds after the "surge". i had the car in to the dealership (toyota) where i purchased the vehicle concerning the "surging" problem. they checked for service codes (including soft codes) and found none. they were unable to proceed from there and suggested to take the vehicle to a chrysler dealer to continue diagnosis. this will be done at the earliest available time. *tr
After driving my car for a 30 min or more, park, turn off, come back 20 min to 1hr starter cranks and cranks and cranks. it eventually starts. *tr
My sebring stalls when i come to a stop or am traveling at low speeds. the car has stalled in the middle of intersections and is obviously very dangerous to drive. the car additionally lunges at low speeds or when i accelerate. the seatbelt light on the dash goes on and off sporadically. i have determined through personal investigation the wire connection for the seatbelt light is under the driver seat and it doesn't always make a good connection. when the connector is touched the light will go off and on so that tells me that the connector has a short and is faulty. a plastic part in the gear shift has broken and made it impossible to shift without manipulation with a screw driver, and there is a loud clicking sound that comes out of the air condition vent/duct when the ac is turned on. i have owned many vehicles through the years and this is the first car that i have purchased that i am actually scared for my family and i to drive anywhere. i will never again purchase a chrysler, but not just because of the above but because they have not gained my trust. this company should try a new campaign of trying to gain the trust of the consumer, and they could start by accepting the fact that they have many faulty vehicles that need to be recalled and repaired, this is not only good sound advice this would be good business practice. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chrysler sebring. while driving approximately 70 mph the vehicle stalled without any prior warnings. she also smelled a burning odor after restarting the vehicle. a local mechanic stated that the computerized system failed. no repairs were made. the failure and current mileages were 66,000.
The illumination of the instrument panel cluster board has went out. it kept flickering on and off, but now it stays off. i can not drive the car at night because i can not see the speedometer. *tr
My car lost pressure without warning during rush hour traffic on the interstate and just came to a stop and the engine was barely running eventhough it never cut off. it would crank fine but would not move, no matter how much you mash the accelerator pedal and the electronic throttle control indicator light came on , then blinked a few times and went back out. i had to have the car towed and about 4 hours later, i went to check it again and it started back to driving fine. i just new i would get slammed into on that interstate. please check into this matter thank you. *tr
Gas gauge stopped working. according to dealer mechanic, fuel gage sending unit is not working....fuel pump does work. dashboard lights no longer work also. check engine light stays on and cannot be cleared or problem diagnosed. *tr
2007 chrysler sebring electronic throttle control light comes on and car cannot accelerate stalls almost to almost to a complete stop... only turning off the car resets this light for who knows how long it just happens and is very dangerous...this problem needs to be addressed before somebody gets seriously hurt... *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chrysler sebring. while driving 40 mph, the vehicle shakes. the brakes fail to work properly and feel as if they are tapping on something when the pedal is depressed. when the contact turns the vehicle, there is a rubbing sensation. in addition, the cruise control does not work. the contact could not control the vehicle because it accelerated on its own. the abs light illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact received a recall notice for the tire pressure monitoring system and electrical connectors and the vehicle was repaired. the dealer stated that the vehicle was not under warranty due to the recall that was issued. the vehicle will only be repaired at the contact's expense. the vehicle was diagnosed as having electrical failure. the nhtsa campaign id number was unknown. the failure mileage was 44,751 and the current mileage was unknown.
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chrysler sebring. while idling at a traffic light, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was able to restart the vehicle immediately. secondly, she noticed that the vehicle would not start intermittently. the dealer replaced the wireless module, but the failure recurred several days later. she called the dealer again and was referred to the manufacturer; however, they did not provide sufficient assistance. the failure mileage was 29,000 and current mileage was 31,000.
