We have classified the 104 complaints from 2007 Chrysler Sebring about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chrysler sebring. while attempting to accelerate from a traffic light, the vehicle hesitated to move. also, all the instrument panel lighting went out. after a few seconds, the vehicle drove normally to the contact's residence. the following day, the vehicle would not start. the contact also mentioned that the battery was replaced in august of 2019. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
Fuse box completely shorted out and there was a burning smell. car stalls without warning in traffic and on the highway and will not start. the car will crank but won't start leaving the vehicle disabled in the middle of traffic. the vehicle also can be parked and not start. cranks but won't start. it has happened on more than 4 occasions 1 of the times my children were in the car and we were on the freeway. another time i was alone on the freeway and another time i was stopped at a stoplight and it died and would not start leaving me stranded in the middle of the road in rush hour traffic. all other times have been when the car was parked. the date below is the most recent incident.
The airbag light has been in for a long time. i know someone that has the same car and their car has the same issue. also the true gage reader is malfunctioning. now i have problems with the car stalling on the roadway. i called chrysler about the recalls and the said everything has been taken care of. they couldn't tell me who brought the car in fir repairs. i've had the car for 8 years. i dont think the issues have been resolved. they should at least be able to see who brought the car in fir the repairs. the headlights will sometimes go off when going around turns. i met the previous owner and he told me that these issues are why he got rid of the car. please help me get the recalls fixed so something bad doesn't happen to us in this car.
I've put 2 starters on my 2007 chysler sebring in the last 3 months. the car starts greats then while driving it starts to make this loud grinding noise and once you cut the car off it just clicks. this time it did the same thing but this time when i cut the car off it kept running and i had to go turn the ignition switch off again and of course it won't start.
My instrument panel has no background lights, they do t turn on at all. i took it into a local shop and they said all the fuse are good and they think it might be a modgular (battery) that needs to be replaced. i have seen a lot of other owners having this same issue with their sebring as well.
Airbag light on, horn and cruise control stopped working, found out its the clock spring, had trouble steering the car at one point, found that a part broke the clock spring and got lodged in the steering components, happened during a turn onto a street
The defective integrated power module (tipm) would cause my vehicle to do strange things. like loose complete power while driving on the highway or in town. also effects where starter cranks but wont start. battery would be drained for no reason. i have the vehicle in the shop right now getting that part replaced. i asked them what did they find out about my vehicle after a couple of days of them working on it and they stated they where unsure still working on it. they gave me a call back a few days later and they stated that the issue is the tipm and that they got that info from chrysler because they eventually had to contact them to see if they knew what the issue was and that they told them that this is a very common issue in chrysler vehicles made from 2007 to 2014. to me this part on chrysler vehicles should be a recall for 0ne it is very dangerous for your vehicle to loose power while driving and also the fact that they know this is an issue.
I have researched and several of these cars have this issue. i bought my car used august 2018,i love this car...but.. the dash lights have never worked!! so, if you drive my car at dark you have no idea how fast you are driving!! please won't you fix this? this is a costly repair, that is too well known for these cars and makes it very dangerous!!! also, the cruise is affected and does not work as well.please fix for me.
Dashboard was dim with airbag indicator light always on when purchased. the problems started with dashboard lights going in and out and the wipers not working properly around november of last year. was told fuses needed to be changed, so they were. same issue. then 3 months ago taillight bulb went out, changed it and the taillights have not worked since. was told it has to be taken to dealer authorized shop for electrical box repair after taking car to three different shops who all said they could not find the issue. today battery looking light came on and before i could turn around to go back home the car immediately shut off and would not start without a jump. the lightning bolt in parentheses came up and car accelerated without my foot being on gas but would not go above 30 mph once i made it home it turned off and refuses to start 6 hrs later. the battery light, lightning bolt symbol and airbag lights all show on dash and will not go off.
I am very concerned about my airbag light coming on 1-2 times a month. does that mean the air bags may suddenly deploy while i am sitting at a light, or not deploy when involved in a crash? my second concern is that my dashboard lights started dimming and eventually went out on their own. i cannot drive at night any more.i took it to a mechanic and thinking it was a simple fuse problem. no, it has to do with the mechanic removing the dashboard and going into the instrument cluster box and replacing simething in there. i have been quoted $350.00-to 375.00 dollars.cannot afford that. my new problem: driving home, getting ready to back up my drive way, the car is running hot, when i went to shift from drive to reverse, the car cut off.had a hard time taking the carout of reverse to park. like it was stuck or jammed.my neighbors came out to help push it out of the middle of the street and the front wheels were locked. the men eventually got it pushed to the side of the street. the car starts an run s with no problem my mechanis tells me it is the gear shifter cable us broken. i thought tose were made to last in a car. my car is now locked in park until i canget that fixed. as a senior on a fixed income i cannot afford to drive this old car i have sadly paid for.
The car will stop suddenly while driving i've been told its an electrical issue in the transmission, but i see from the recalls that chrysler knows about these issues yet these cars are still been sold and driven even though they can have very dangerous consequences. the doors locks and unlocks on their own, the lights flicker. the car will also while in park jerk and rev as if someone is hitting the gas even though they are not, this also happens when in drive and my foot is on the break
I was driving when my hood pop right up and it has been the second time. also my cruise control doesn't work and some light inside don't turn on or my mirrors. *tr
Dashboard lights intermittently turn on and off while car is on and driving; especially the'airbag' and 'check engine' and "exclamation point' lights. the 'check engine' light is always on and blinks while in drive. while the check engine is blinking, the car drives slower and does not pick up speed past 20 mph. all spark plugs have been changed as well as the cranks sensor.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chrysler sebring. the contact stated that the vehicle would not start and the battery was replaced. after replacing the battery, a warning indicating that the tire pressure monitoring system was faulty appeared. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the electrical wires connected to the tire pressure monitoring system had corroded causing an electrical short. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the contact was informed that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 08v152000 (electrical system). the failure mileage was 108,000.
For the past several months my dash lights have been flashing, sometimes going off and staying off, and my remote start will start the car but then it immediately shuts off. i did some research on what could be causing this and discovered nhtsa reference # 08v-152, which describes exactly what i've been experiencing, and my car does have the tire pressure monitoring system. when i contacted chrysler they told me that there have never been any recalls on my particular vehicle. i know this to be untrue because shortly after i purchased the car i received a recall notice for a spring in the gear shift. chrysler informed me that if i want this corrected it would at my own expense. the problem that initiated the recall can result in the car stalling without warning and causing an accident. my car's vin does not come up as a vehicle included in this recall, but if the problem is occurring, then why wouldn't chrysler want to take care of it for safety's sake and their reputation? believe me, i plan on telling anyone i can about this and i will never consider another chrysler product.
In the past 3 years that i have owned this vehicle each time is rains and/or humid my car would stall. i took it to 2 different mechanic shops (this was done in the span of three years). unfortunately no one was able to find or to fix the problem. it seems quite dangerous as my car would stall as it is running, while i am driving (talk about unsafe). i noticed that the issue would surface when it is raining and/or very humid outside. my car would start to loose power, a bit of a engine hiccup, and then as i approach a stop or red light, the car would stall completely. which means i need to put it in park, and restart the engine. mechanic checked it and said there is "no issues" but any time it rains i have this problem. also they checked the computer and replaced some other recalled item, and computer does not show any errors. how can one drive a car that unpredictably stalls and no one, even the dealer, is able to locate and fix the problem?
Passenger airbag light stays on and dashboard cluster does not light up, both are dangerous and should not be ignored.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chrysler sebring. while driving at various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shut off. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the key was faulty. the key was replaced, but the failure continued. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 97,000.

Interior dash lights flicker on and off at night, sometimes remaing off. as such, speedometer isn't illuminated, as well as other guages. i googled this condition and by the responses i saw, this is a widespread problem in the chrysler sebring and there should be an immediate recall before someone gets hurt from diverting attention from the road to the dash situation. this happens if the vehicle is stopped, moving, turning, on a city street and in highway conditions. it happens when traveling on smooth pavement or rougher conditions. the vehicle is in like new condition and has never been wrecked.

Driving down a normal traffic filled street, car all of a sudden shakes and, wont go passed 20 mph and the electronic throttle control light comes on. its happened before but if i turn off the car and restart, the car would return to normal. this particular day it didn't. took it to tire plus, they said i need a fuel line cleaning or something like that. fixed the problem for about a week and today as i was driving from work doing about 45 mph the electronic throttle control light comes on again, 3 times in under five mins. each time had to restart my car. its dangerous when youre in traffic and late at night, having to pull over and restart. *tr
Having continual issues with lights on dash flickering: 2 repairs completed in last 18 months and still broke. cosmetically, the car is crappy since the day i bought it; paint flaking off, tire rims have pitted, inside door handles flaking off paint too, among a few others. however, my heated seats burning through is what has me very irate! i was driving and had two adult passengers with me. both of us in the front had the heated seats turned on returning home from running errands in the city 45 miles away. my passenger is 8 months pregnant and i have low lumbar issues, so heated seats are always used. we had both complained that we found it weird that if we made quick stops during our running, when we got back into the car and turned the heated seats on, it felt warmer than usual. however, if we were somewhere for a longer period of time, the seats didn't get terribly hot right away. the car sat for 48 hours before it was time for me to pack up and head back to my own home, when i noticed what i thought to be a stain on my seat (from my daughters dog thinking he was going with me). after trying to clean it and nothing happening, i touched it with my finger tip, only to find that it was a burn spot. if that would have caught fire while driving, i could have crashed! i could have killed my pregnant passenger, her hubby and her unborn baby! since today is a holiday, you can bet that i will be calling the dealership first thing tomorrow. i am the first and only owner of this car. *js

While a mechanic was working on my car he noticed that a wiring harness was fused together, and the fan was not working. i got on line and found that in november 2007 there was a recall (g39) and it was performed on my car( i purchased my car new in february 2007). there was no indication my car was running hot, but, it obviously could have caught fire . the wires were arcing. i immediately got an appt with a dealer on 11/18 and this time the following parts were replaced: jumper ra 08015002, motor rad 08034280 and shroud 07008002 free of charge .the original recall was called g39. the original recall only installed a fan motor overlay harness. the original recall obviously did not correct the original problem. but it took 7 years to happen again. *tr
Tl* the contact owns 2007 chrysler sebring. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled on several occasions and the contact was able to restart the vehicle. the contact indicated that there was an electrical short within the vehicle. the instrument panel lights and gauges shorted out and failed to work on numerous occasions. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer. the technician diagnosed that the instrument panel cluster, the front passenger door switch and the passenger side rear door panel needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact continued to experience the vehicle jerking violently and then stalling intermittently. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 114,560.
When it began, the car sometimes would not catch when i turned the ignition. then one day it was raining and i pulled up to a red light and the car cut off. it eventually progressed to the car randomly slowing down and/or not going over 20 mph. when it first started i could turn the car off and back on and it would be fine, now the car must sit for hours before it begins to work properly again. *tr
The electrical in the dash started flickering on and off without warning. eventually it stopped working all together. i took it to a service dept i work at and they told me i needed to take it back to the dealer because they would have to rip the whole dash apart and replace it. that would cost me around $600. seems like other people have had the same problem. has this ever been a recall? *js
Traveling at 60 mph the etc light begins to flash and the vehicle will not accelerate, although rpms increase significantly. this happens many times going downhill. dealer was never able to repair. resets if car is restarted, but this is not safe traveling at 60mph on the highway in traffic. *tr

Driving south, from michigan, had driven approx. 600 miles of a 700+ mile trip, vehicle started "chugging" at 70mph on the highway, decelerating, unable accelerate, this was not in an area of differing elevations, it would almost stall then surge, then repeat. cruise control was not being used at that time due to heavy traffic. pulled the vehicle off the highway, into a store parking lot, shut it off for a few minutes, restarted and no further problems until today when driving for less than 15 minutes, on the highway at 60mpg, heavy traffic, it began again. again, it was pulled over shut off and restarted with no further incidents today. you people need to do something to fix this. someone is going to be fatally injured. i am not the only one experiencing this same issue. *tr

I have a 2007 chrysler sebring limited and when i take my key out of the ignition and open the drivers door it still indicates on the dash that the key is in the ignition, therefore causing my key fobs to not work as well. i cannot set my alarm on my car because the key fobs are not working and i have to sit in the car for 30-60 seconds waiting for the dash to stop indicating the key is still in the ignition so i can lock the car doors. it is a big hassle and inconvenience. *tr

I was driving at about 55 mph, etc light starts blinking erratically. i then lose power and go down to 10-20 mph. later that weekend, i started my car and the same thing happened, without it driving. *tr
I was going about 55 mph when the electronic throttle control light came on. it was flashing with made it impossible to reach speeds over 40 mph. i was a danger on the highway because i was unable to maintain speed as well as the vehicle hesitating. it took me 1hour and a half to travel 35 miles. the next day started it and the light went out, i have been afraid to drive it. no one seems to have an easy answer. *tr
