On average, the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica starts to “feel” problems with the ENGINE and its various aspects after 10 313 miles.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 chrysler pacifica. while driving 65 mph, the vehicle lost power. in addition, the power steering failed and the steering wheel was difficult to turn. also, the emergency flashers were inoperable, the temperature gauge increased to high, and the vehicle failed to engage into gear. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to landmark chrysler dodge ram of atlanta (5745 peachtree industrial blvd, chamblee, ga 30341, (678) 825-3200) where it was diagnosed that two batteries failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the contact had concerns about the safety of the vehicle. the contact called 911 for assistance during the failure. the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 57793693. the failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

We purchased our 2018 chrysler pacifica in early october 2018 and have since put less than 3,000 miles on the odometer. today, while driving on a level rural road near our home, a couple of warning lights started flashing out of nowhere: one indicating that blind-spot monitoring was disabled, and another re: electronic stability control. not long after we started up a hill a half-mile later, the accelerator stopped responding. we were slowing down. then, the car basically stalled and came to a stop. more warning lights and sounds came on, including a check engine light, and one indicating that we needed to service the transmission. then on the display above the wheel, a message said that we needed to turn off the engine to engage the parking brake. we called 911 in hopes of having an officer help direct traffic while we waited for a tow, as we were stopped around a curve and at a high risk of getting rear-ended. the car wasn't responding when i attempted to turn the engine off. i wasn't able to shift the car into park, either (the light above each gear flashed when i tried to shift away from drive). also, the hazard lights wouldn't turn on, and nor would the parking brake (i had to keep my foot on the brake to prevent the car from rolling backward down the hill). as we waited for the tow truck, the lights on the dash continued to flash and the alarms continued on. at some point, i once again tried to turn the car off. it worked. then, when i turned the car on again, only a check engine light came on. the tow truck driver also had no issue reversing the van up onto the bed of his truck.

When completing a stop at traffic lights, the vehicle start/stop system shuts off the engine and without warning it has not restarted automatically leaving us expecting to take off and having to put the vehicle back in park while in traffic and then restart the engine and move gear selector back to the drive position. i've nearly been rear-ended due to this several times. i have counted 7 times this malfunction has happened. when checking the vehicle for any dtc's there have never been any.

The engine start/stop feature of this van is faulty and chrysler knows it. because they do not have a fix for this issue they cannot place a recall. this issue is not limited to my personal van. our particular vehicle has less than 13,000 miles and has been in the service department 5 times. 3 for the same issue. we have stalled out in intersections 4 times. one time we (wife and children) were almost struck by a truck. this is a serious safety issue. again chrysler is aware and only offered an extended service agreement.

While driving my 2018 pacifica in 45 mph traffic on a local road, the car flashed 'stability control' and lost all power. the brakes went hard, the car completely stalled. the display read 'stability control' then disappeared from the screen and it instructed me to put car in park and to restart the car. the second time this happened i was driving 50 mph on a state highway slowing to make a left turn when the vehicle did the exact same thing as stated above.

While stopped at a red light, and the auto shut off feature shut the car off, the vehicle would not start up again. this caused the car to be stalled out in middle of the road on a city street. only a few minutes later did the car start up again.

While approaching a traffic light the car came to a stop and completely shut down. i had to turn shifter of the car from drive to park and then restart the car. this is the 4th time this has happened. scary time as the first time it happened i was making a legal k turn and the car shut off as i stopped the car before putting the car in reverse. i was t'd in the middle of the road. the first time occurred was 11/23/18 then again 12/18/018, again 12/21/18 and today 1/3/2018

Vehicle randomly loses power driving down the road. transmission jerks and sometimes shifts to park while moving.

2018 chrysler pacifica purchased new. when the stop/start function is activated, the engine will completely shut off while idling at stoplights or stop signs, and pacifica has to be shifted into park and restarted. (this happens intermittently and occurs going straight on the roadway and turning left or right.) chimes sound and dashboard display flashes a message about electronic stability control, engine completely stalls out, and then shows a message to put vehicle in park and to restart the vehicle. started occurring around 11k miles and has happened 8 times to date. several visits to the chrysler dealership include: first visit was a software update and that didn't fix the issue. second visit was to replace both batteries as both reportedly failed their tests, and that didn't fix it. opened a chrysler care case after 7th engine stalling incident. third visit was to add a data recorder. captured data on 8th stalling incident. chrysler is unwilling to report what info was learned from the data recorder and whether root issue has been identified. fourth visit to chrysler dealership after data recording capture included replacing the crankshaft position sensor, and chrysler believes that will fix the issue. customer now has vehicle for driving (and further road testing).

2018 chrysler pacifica ~4500mi. while driving at low speed the engine suddenly cut off with no warning. all electronics were still powered. the display on the dashboard flashed something to the effect of " turn to p and press start/stop." luckily i was slowing for a red light when this occurred and was not traveling at speed. i came to a stop, turned the gear selector to p then start/stop to restart the engine. no further issue on restart, however, this is a serious safety issue.

While driving our 2018 chrysler pacifica on i-95 south in nh, traffic came to an abrupt stop and we rear-ended a jeep wrangler at approximately 30-40 mph. i braked for about 20 ft and struck the jeep. our airbags deployed and the engine compartment immediately burst into flames upon impact. the flames were so immediate and so violent that my wife and i only had time to remove our young daughters from the middle row of the vehicle. the accident itself was minor, the jeep was able to drive away after the accident. our pacifica was a complete loss as a result of the fire. ...*bf.. updated 10/30/18*jb

2 days after purchasing car, the check engine light came on. i asked service folks at dealership if i can bring it in. they said bring it in the next day. later that day, my wife drove to store. she was in for 15 minutes. when she came back to car in parking lot and started the car the monitor said something about car being put in "park" and then had electric failure after a strange noise. worried that power failure could happen while car is in motion. dealer would not replace car unless we gave all 10s on survey, which we refuse to do. dealership service said car had complete electric failure. was told this was the first time they have encountered this problem. service person also said they were aware of defects in pacificas. i asked how come they sold cars with known defects dealership stated they have lots of cars and many have defects.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the vehicle's horn did not work. an independent mechanic stated that the horn was built without a fuse and that one needed to be installed. while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle lost power without warning. the vehicle was taken to dadeland chrysler dodge (16501 s dixie hwy, miami, fl 33157), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was informed and assigned a technician. the failure was escalated to a higher office of the dealer. the failure mileage was 18,600. ..*bf. *tr *dt 2nd incident: dec. 11: total electrical failure while parked in garage at home. car was towed to dadeland dodge where the auxiliary battery was replaced. 3rd incident: dec.19: total electrical failure while parked in garage at home. vehicle was towed again to dadeland chryler. after much research they replaced the body coltrol module. the car was returned to me on jan. 4, 2019 the car seems to be working well now.*jb *dt

My 2018 chrysler pacifica keeps stalling while driving. i found a recall from 2017 that matches my car exactly! recall u01. dealership as well as chrysler, keep telling me that my vehicle year is not affected but my car keeps stalling at intersections! i have almost been hit two times with my child in the car. they have had my vehicle for more than 42 days in the service department and say they cannot recreate the problem in order to fix it. i even have video tape documenting what happens. if i stop at a light, or am driving very slow my vehicle shuts off! an indicator on my dash states to put the vehicle in park and re-start it! this is not safe when you have people behind you ready to go at a green light and you are stalled! i refuse to drive this vehicle on the road and jeopardize my families safety. please investigate this issue. i am stuck paying a brand new lease payment for a vehicle that i am not able to drive!

I have experienced my 2018 chrysler pacifica stalling at varying speeds, including while idling, making turns and traveling under 40 miles per hour on municipal roads. when it does stall out, the dash displays 'electronic stability control. requires restart.' i have almost been in multiple accidents due to this issue. i have brought it up with the dealership and they have said chrysler does not have a fix for it.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 chrysler pacifica. while driving various speeds, the check engine warning indicator remained illuminated. the vehicle was taken to ramey chrysler jeep dodge ram (127 frazier dr, princeton, wv 24739), but the cause of the failure was undetermined. the vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer three times. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 1,800. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled several times without warning. the vehicle was taken to bob baker chrysler jeep dodge ram (5555 car country dr, carlsbad, ca 92008, (760) 431-3000) for diagnostic testing, but the cause of the failure was not determined for weeks. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 500.

Minivan stalled seased operating as driving normal speed in motion on a city street tried restarting vehicle kept stalling automatically turned off could not turn wheel kept stalling shutting off while in normal operation could not brake could not accilatate screen said put in park to put in drive...check engine light was on

I was stopped by a stop sign on a city road when suddenly the engine turned off. the screen said put van in park and restart. the van was in drive when this occurred.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 chrysler pacifica. while driving 5 mph and making a left turn, the vehicle stalled. the contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. the vehicle was taken to phillips chrysler jeep dodge ram (located at 3440 s pine ave, ocala, fl 34471, (352) 732-7577) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure or retrieve a fault code. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 7,000. **tr consumer stated vehicle lost power as entering intersection. i am not sure it stalled, i think more likely lost accelerator control, as i did not see any warning lights. it was a down hill "coast" to stop about 300 yards so not clear if vehicle was "coasting" or driving at idle speed. putting into park, pushing engine button to stop and start solved the problem. updated 11/1/18*jb

The start/stop fuel economy system does not work. i have taken it to the shop 3 times to get this repaired. once to have them identify the problem, then order replacement battery. twice a new battery has been installed and the system still does not work. i have approximately 3000 miles on this vehicle and it has never worked after the initial test drive. the dash board gives various reasons why it can't work but none of these conditions or situations but none seem related to actual, current operation of the car: engine is not warmed up or the steering wheel turned to sharply. i purchased the vehicle with 60 miles on the odometer in august 2018.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled when it approached a stop light. the contact had to turn off and restart the vehicle to get it to operate. also, while driving 30 mph, the steering seized and the vehicle rolled to a complete stop in the middle of the road. also, "start stop required" appeared on the instrument panel. autonation chrysler dodge jeep ram southwest (7980 w tufts ave, littleton, co 80123, (303) 578-6099) stated that they would have to test drive the vehicle and try to replicate the failure. if they could not diagnose it in two days, they would have to return the vehicle to the contact .the manufacturer was called and immediately transferred the contact back to the dealer. the failure mileage was 8,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 chrysler pacifica. while driving various speeds, the engine stalled without warning. the contact placed the gear in park and attempted to restart the vehicle. the contact cited that the automatic engine fuel saving device, a feature of the vehicle, may have caused the failure. a dealer and the manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was unknown.

2018 pacifica with 5450 miles on it. while driving on highway at 60 mph with adaptive cruise control engaged, vehicle sudden appeared to stop running. vehicle had been operating perfectly normal with no indication of a problem until it started to quickly lose speed and had no response from accelerator pedal. message on dashboard said to place vehicle in park and press start button. i'm not sure if the engine was actually idling or if it had completely stopped running. i did not notice a loss of power steering or brakes. coasted over to shoulder, placed in park and tried to restart. the engine would start, but only idle at about 600 rpm. accelerator pedal had no effect on engine rpm and i could not shift out of park. shut the vehicle off and restarted it several times with same result over a 3 minute period. then i switched the auto start/stop button into the off (defeat setting) and was immediately able to restart the vehicle, which then operated as normal. since this incident yesterday, the vehicle has operated as normal and has reported no faults through the u-connect application. clear weather with temperature near 100 degrees when this incident occurred. both keyless remotes for the vehicle were inside the vehicle, mine in my pocket and my wife's in her purse. before heading out on this trip i had used the remote start function and allowed the vehicle to run in remote start mode until it timed out. then had remote started the vehicle a second time before switching it to normal run mode before leaving the parking lot. this was about 40 minutes before the event happened. it occurred to me that the messages that were displayed on the dash while the vehicle was inoperable were similar, or possibly identical to messages displayed during the remote start function, which is why i thought of switching the auto start/stop button to the defeat position.

Driving down the hwy when the van just turns completely off almost causing a wreck and also the control panel freezes and ac will not turn on at all. it will not let you press any buttons

6/20 the engine light came on. the dealership claimed that they performed the dtc inspection and a system update (to prevent vehicle from stalling). the vehicle was returned on 6/23 and it broke down on 6/24. the car went from 10mph to 43 mph when pressing on the gas and then instantly stopped at around 10mph. the vehicle turned off and was unable to start and had to be towed back to the dealership. i hit a curb and if i was not an experienced driver i could have killed someone or myself or my 3 children could have been harmed if they were in the vehicle. i have provided a video of the incident on my youtube and the documentation from what the dealership said they performed on the vehicle. this car needs to be recalled and off of the road. please save lives because this was very scary and i fear getting back into the vehicle if they fix it. i do not want it back. i want safety for my children and myself. i am a social worker and i drive my vehicle to clients homes and i cannot do my job in fear that i might loose my life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcsx8mpcag8 *tt *tr

Driving 50 mph and engine stopped. "d" was flashing stating it wasn't in drive. all power lost. i was able to turn on a side street and put it in park. took multiple times to restart the van. i was able to drive home without any other episodes. two weeks ago, while driving at night, the interior lights dimmed all of a sudden. this occurred two times. the dealership did not detect any problems with the light dimming. i'm not sure if they are related but i am terrified to drive the car with my 3 young children.

In the middle of driving the vehicle suddenly shut down. the vehicle was repaired by a chrysler dealer, was driven approx. 2 blocks and shut down, in the middle of driving, for a second time.

Tl* the contact leases a 2018 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled numerous times when attempting to accelerate from a stop. the contact took the vehicle to sterling heights dodge chrysler jeep ram (40111 van dyke avenue, sterling heights, mi 48313, (586)-939-3900) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump control module and fuel pump relay failed. the vehicle was not repaired; however, the dealer replaced the start and stop engine battery. the failure was not remedied. the dealer also test drove the vehicle and was unable to duplicate the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted. the failure mileage was 3,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 chrysler pacifica. while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled and lost braking and steering ability. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact depressed the start button and the vehicle restarted normally. the contact stated that the failure also occurred on may 19, 2018. the vehicle was taken to the naples chrysler/jeep/ram dealer (6381 airport pulling road north, naples, florida 34109) where it was awaiting diagnostic testing and repairs. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 2,300.

On may 23, 2018 i was in route to work per normal. it was about 8:30 am. the car was stationary in the left hand turn lane (second from right lane) on a 6 lane busy city street waiting for a red light to turn green so i could turn left/north onto next street. the car was in drive with my foot on the brake. as the light turned green i took my foot from the brake to the accelerator and the car suddenly powered down. i put my foot on the brake, put in park, turned off the car, and then pushed start again. the car started but would not move out of park. i retried several times with no luck to get the car out of park and move forward. i put on my hazards as cars started to stack up behind me while i was motioning for traffic to go around me. i tried again to restart and while the car would restart, i could not move it out of park and was stuck there. with my hazards on, i called the police to assist and then tried to use my uconnect to reach my 'free' roadside assitance using my assist button. i got an error message multiple times that it would not connect. i found the 800 number and manually dialed myself. after about a 10 minute process i finally was able to order service via the text process that was sent to me. it took another 5 minutes before i received confirmation that tow truck was ordered. police arrived. i called back to determine how long tow truck would take to find it was 90 minutes. this was unacceptable due to my location and the traffic backup. i called my dealer directly and they sent service within 30 minutes. the dealer immediately received a call from chrysler star team (due to the roadside report i filed) and they had my car for one week. i have the car back now and there are no solid explanations as to why this happened. i know that chrysler was very involved in having dealer perform multiple tests. thankful i was not on freeway.

I was driving in the left lane on a congested highway at approximately 10 mph with my foot gently on the accelerator. traffic started to move a little faster, i pressed down on the accelerator, to increase the speed of the car. instead of accelerating the car was slowing down. i realized the engine cut out. i steered the car toward the left shoulder and the car glided to a stop barely on the shoulder. with the car stopped, i checked for an indicator light to help determine the problem. no indicator lights were on. there was a message displayed that directed me to put the car in park ( i left everything the way it was when the engine stopped), press the brake and push the start button. i car restarted normally. the reason the engine stopped running is unknown. the vehicle was purchased new. model year 2018. it is a gas driven minivan, not the hybrid model. total mileage 2932. the vehicle has not been serviced. *tt *tr

(1) power steering went out intermittently on the freeway and said it was unavailable and service was required (2)vehicle was hesitating when stepping on the gas (3) heater/air conditioner changed the level of air flow on it's own (4) window rolled down on its own. after i had it in the shop for 2 1/2 weeks, they didn't do any work to it and had me come pick it up. after driving it for 2 minutes, the power steering kept going out on me again. then i was stopped at a stop light and the car turned off and i had to put it in park and re-start it. when i drove it back to the dealership, the window rolled down again on its own. how could they give this car back to me knowing they didn't fix anything. i have children that i drive around in this vehicle. i do not feel safe driving this vehicle any longer. it is a brand new car. i've had it for 2 months. *tt *tr

Within 2 months of buying the vehicle, the minivan stalled and died on a highway (i-80). luckily it was early morning (6 am) and there wasn't anyone behind me or next to me. so was able to maneuver to the right shoulder. car was towed to local dealership. problem was supposedly fixed, but not assurance from chrysler. did i get a lemon? are there others who have had similar issues with this minivan? *tt *js *tr

Car stalled, engine completely stopped while driving expressway speeds. engine would not restart and required tow. eight days after incident - still no diagnosis for failure although evidence points to internal engine damage.

My 2018 chrysler pacifica stalled in an intersection. the auto start-stop system was on. after pressing the gas and entering the intersection the van stalled. i had to quickly put my hazard lights on, put the van into park and restart. i purchased this van less than a month ago and it has less than 1500 miles. this incident resulted in no injuries.

Car shut off with the "put car in park and restart" message. it took 2 attempts to restart. car has only 795 miles on it. when the car shuts off there is no power steering creating a very dangerous situation. the car was stopped at a traffic light when this happened with the fuel saver option set to the off position.

2018 touring l plus towed. was driving along and started losing all power, systems started to shut down, van was limited in speed and function. by the end all warning systems had failed, power steering was gone, abs was gone, after the battery hit 8.9 volts we lost control of the transmission, the "d" on the display started flashing and the van shut off 15 seconds later. once the van was off i was unable to put it in park or apply the parking brake due to the loss of power.

We were driving home at night and stopped on a red light in an intersection on a highway. when it was 'go' our pacifica 2018 (400 miles on it) did not run. light is on 'run', dial shift on drive and i did not turn off the car. i stepped on the accelerator again but it just would not run. other drivers behind me started honking and i signaled them to go around me. so turned to park and turned off the engine. then turned back on. still it would not run. for the third time i turned the engine completely off, opened the door. then closed the door and redid the entire process. this time it worked. took us about 15 distressing seconds. i'm now scared driving this thing with my family with me. i dont want this to happen again especially on a busy highway. just the thought of it gives me goosebumps. i called the sales guy first this morning and was told he will schedule appointment with their service. just surprised me this never happened to our previous cars - toyota, honda and nissan especially such a brand new car! chrysler, if you are reading this, please don't live in fantasyland that your vehicles are ok. admit it and help owners like us. otherwise, you have to buyback our vehicle. *js
