We have classified the 48 complaints from 2006 Chrysler Pacifica about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
While getting car service my mechanic told me the subframe is all rotten not to drive the car . he said the motor may fall out..
I started the car and could not shift, move the windshield wipers, run radio, put the front windows down....lights work, trunk lid raised.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and shut off without warning. the contact also stated that the gauges on the vehicle moved up and down independently while the engine seized. the electrical system also operated independently by displaying inaccurate readings. the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 06v432000 (power train). the manufacturer and ginn chrysler jeep dodge (5190 us-278, covington, ga 30014, 770-679-2202) were notified and stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was 134,000. *dt the consumer stated the fuel pump and fuel sender unit failed. *tp
I can't completely fill my fuel tank. at 1/2 tank it bottoms out to empty. the fuel gauge is completely unreliable.when making a left hand turn when the fuel is low it will stall and sputter. i was lucky enough that the dealer i bought it from changed the fuel pump right after i bought it because i ran out of fuel on a trip to ohio from illinois but it didn't fix the issue. i only drive it in town because i'm afraid of running out of fuel. apparently this is very common with this vehicle and i feel there should be a recall. this issue could cause an accident, someone to be stranded in extreme cold/heat. it's unreliable and a major threat to someone's safety. chrysler should be ashamed.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. while driving in a storm, the windshield wipers and power windows failed, and the instrument cluster warning indicators illuminated. the dealer diagnosed that the power module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacture was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. the failure mileage was 122,000. updated 06/21/17*lj
I was on freeway doing 60_70 miles per hour when i noticed my car felt like it was not accelerating and gas pedal felt stiff like when car is off. i had my whole family in car and i could of wrecked if i didn't notice in time to put car in neutral and restarted it some how before we got rear ended. i got off freeway somehow and turned car on and off again a few times and it seemed like it was a one time thing . a few miles later it did same thing and i was stalled out in middle of on coming traffic . cars braked and swerved out of my way to avoid rear ending us . my children were scared cause of this happening out of the blue. i now have no desire to even drive my car with any of my family in it incase this happens again. i contacted chrysler but they claimed my vin wasn't part of the f44 recalls but i know it is same issues...i will be taking car to chrysler first thing in morning to leave them car to find out why my family almost got in accident due to this issue. so in total it stalled out on me 6 times twice on freeway the rest on city streets just to get home ....this is a serious issue that could of killed everyone in my vehicle if i didn't react fast enough to avoid that from happening..
While driving my car i turned on my turn signal to turn right onto the highway, and upon accelerating my check engine light beeped and turned on, then as i turned my wheel and tried to accelerate it wouldn't and then my car died. i then had my car towed to my house where it remains until i have it towed to the dealership. *tr

The drivers seat quit working and all controls on the stearing wheel quit working and could not shut turn signals off.
This vehicle had a recall from chrysler. i was given a claim #[xxx] and when i spoke to chrysler i was told that our vin # was not covered due to the fact that they themselves had ended the recalled vehicles 2 weeks before ours was produced. that is absolutely ridiculous as our vehicle suffered the exact same problems as they all did 2 weeks earlier!!! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Had to have my vehicle towed due to my ignition switch. i am glad that i was not driving when this happened! getting this car repair will set me back in my bills and i just got this car 2 years ago! *tr
As i was driving all of a sudden the dashboard and headlights started flickering and the warning icons dinged on. this has continued to occur and the mechanic can not determine the cause of the problem. *tr
My car failed on us as we were on our trip towards brownsville texas. the electrical in my car started flickering and the motor kept accelerating itself.. then the gas indicator went from showing half tank full to 10 miles to empty.. we were in the deserted part of the checkpoint ranch so we had about 30 miles until a gas station we thought we couldn't possibly just run out of gas, but as we continued 5 minutes later our car electrical just sounded a spark and our car starting shutting off, hard steering to pull on side of road.. but thank god we had no vehicles behind us so that prevented an accident from happening.. we called family member to go help us haul our car to a nearest gas station or mechanic.. something i never want to experience with my children 3 and 1 in my car and the hot summer.. i have searched for my car if it falls in the recall category but it shows nothing.. yet it showed to have similar defects as the ones being recalled. *tr
The first issue occurred in may while driving my 2006 chrysler pacifica uphill at about 35 mph. about halfway up the hill my car stalled unexpectedly and locked up. i slammed on the brakes and pulled on the steering wheel (the automatic steering was out) with a lot of force to put my back right tire on the curb to stop sliding down the hill. then i was able to put the car in park, turn the car off, and restart the car. i pulled into the next available parking lot to recover and try to evaluate my car for what the issue was. the second issue occurred while driving in a residential area, traveling about 30 mph, my 2006 chrysler pacifica stalled without any notice. everything locked up. thankfully i was in a low traffic area and the cars behind me were following at a safe distance. i was able to pull to the side of the road where i put the car in park, turned the car off, and restarted the car without issue. my concern now is that this issue will continue to happen and may cause an accident. when my car shuts off, there is no indication that it is going to happen. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. while driving 75 mph, the vehicle suddenly was empty on fuel but the fuel gauge indicated a full tank. the contact also stated that the vehicle was only able to refuel up to half a tank and the fuel gauge continued to display that there was a full tank of fuel. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump, fuel tank and fuel wiring harness needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, however the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 198,000.
Reccall f44 (fuel pump module). this recall was for repair/replace of module due to fact that pacifica cars stall with faulty unit. my car has stalled numerous times. i took to dealer as instructed by recall letter. the dealer said they made repair. my vehicle continues to stall. dealer would not replace part again. i am stuck with a vehicle i cannot drive because it is unsafe to drive.
First began 11/2013 when headed out after picking up my daughter, slowed to enter left turn lane (on major busy intersection at night!) and entire car simply died - fried the battery (it was only a yr old & the second time i had replaced it since i purchased it two yrs prior from original owner) nearly was hit by several cars before tow truck arrived (so dead couldn't even be shifted into neutral!) after multiple opinions by several mechanics had to face the fact that issue w/rods caused metal pieces to infiltrate oil (all oil changes on time, previous before incident 6 week prior) causing all engine bears to go. luckily, was able to work out a fairly decent deal to the tune of $1200, only to be faced w/multiple additional needed repairs thereafter and over a year later, i'm still trying to get to the bottom of why engine totally stalls when coming to a complete stop if my a/c is on - check engine light has been on since i purchased it & still won't stay off despite multiple re-sets & computer checks, as is abs light (again, checked multiple times & since no issue i have left it as is) now battery light also comes on intermittently. all codes come back fine, and hoses & seals all fine.... as of two days ago, seems i'm now looking at engine cradle issue as well! nearly $3000 in (just counting these latest issues!) after replacing battery for a third time & tire replacement (all 4) twice within a year, in addition to breaks & rotors for 2nd time in 2 years ...seems to be a common problem w/these vehicles and yet my vin # isn't included in the recall...shame on you chrysler....i am a single mother, who has had all regular maintenance and upkeep & cannot afford to continue to throw $ into this issue, and am afraid every time my kids are in the car that the stalling issues will cause a horrible accident! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled and would not start. the failure was recurring. the battery was replaced over six times but to no avail. the dealer was not able to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer, who diagnosed and replaced the computer and the engine. additionally, the contact stated that the air bag sensor, abs brake sensor and the service engine sensor illuminated after the vehicle was repaired. the contact had experienced multiple electrical failures and the air bag warning light was illuminated. the dealer was not able to replicate or diagnose the failure. the dealer advised the contact to remove all keys from the key ring except for the fob and keys. the dealer also replaced the ignition switch. the air bag sensor continued to illuminate and the local authorized dealer was notified several times of the failure, who advised the contact that the air bags would not deploy in the event of a crash. the vehicle was not repaired for the air bag sensor. the manufacturer was notified of failure. the approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
Car was parked/ spontanious fire/ inside totalled. *tr
Sporadically the abs & brake warning lights come on the dashboard lights come on and the radio cuts out. the main issue is that when all of this happens the headlights also flicker and go out. when driving at night the headlights are very distracting to myself as well as other vehicles on the road. once i was driving at night and my headlights completely went out for a few seconds. the dealer can't figure out what is causing the issue and there is no specific reason that causes it to happen. *tr
Tl* the contact 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated while driving at no particular speed the vehicle stalled with the entire instrument panel illuminated. the vehicle restarted after the contact stepped on the brake pedal and turned the key simultaneously. there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number 06v432000(power train). the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the alternator needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while driving 25 mph, a chime sounded as the abs and the brake warning lights illuminated. in addition, the vehicle stalled and all of the warning and exterior lights illuminated intermittently. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
While in reverse in parking lot, car stalled causing loss of braking power and vehicle rolled into another parked vehicle. since incident, when vehicle is placed into reverse, vehicle immediately stalls. also, motor mounts have broken and this appears to be a big issue with the pacificas. *tr
Obtained car brand new in 2006, yr later had to replace engine, was said they gave us a new one, prior to that we had sunroof issue that still persist to this day 6years later... electrical off. one minute you have gas and next minute literally fuel light is on..fast forward a tad 2007 stalling problems,...fast forward even more 30,000miles later.... stalling allllllllot, especially while i'm driving with my kids. making a u-turn and just simply parking into a space no go.. gas cap light is on, check engine light on.... currently vehicle is at dealership which was charging us $2,632.00 to fix problems, besides overcharging ridiculously, chrysler offered to pay most of bill after doing research and realizing we were getting ripped off, a two day job is now turned into 1week, no vehicle, no loaner.. 6yrs. later failed emissions test is what prompted me to take it to a dealership...now i cannot pass an emissions test nor register my vehicle @ end month>( today). would like to trade, however they low balled me & said $4,000.they cannot get car to reset, and still could not find out why it is stalling. after letting dealership know i have an open case seems like they are singing a different tune...still no car/ no fix... *js
Driving 65mph, was on a bridge. inside of car went totally black. had to coast it to railing of bridge as there was no shoulder. car completely stopped on its own. saw smoke, waited for clearing in passing traffic. fire erupted on driver's side under hood. local fire department said it was the computer and battery. had i not jumped out i would have been dead. fired melted hood to grill and had to axed open to completely extinguish fire. there was no previous indication of electrical shortage. *tr
Engine light came on, then the gascap light came on. was time for inspection and naturally it failed. immediately took it to repair shop, they checked it over and just replaced the gascap. all lights were off so took it back for inspection. it passed amazingly. later that day, the gascap light came back on. drove a number of months with light on knowing it was a new gascap and it needed a smoke test to find the leak. had alternator replaced and also a new right side fuel pump with the fuel hose from vent on primary to fuel pump vent nipple on other side. they were amazed that i hadn't smelled fuel leaking. also amazed there was no fire. this is a serious fault and needs to be addressed by chrysler after reading all the other same problems. please chrysler, do the right thing!! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, all of the warning symbols illuminated on the instrument panel. the anti lock braking light began to illuminate and there was a warning chime. the failure occurred only while driving. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for a diagnostic test. the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 81,000.
I first noticed my headlights flickering and my battery light came on so i took it to the chrysler dealership and they claimed to have done many tests and found nothing wrong, i then continued using my pacifica but only to have the problem not only continue but also to get worse my brake light and abs lights on my dash started to flicker on and off and then there was chime indicating that there was a problem and i also heard a loud popping noise coming through my stereo but the weird thing is my stereo was off. i since took my pacifica to another chrysler dealership and left it with them and again they claim that there is nothing wrong which again costed me more money for nothing. i again took my pacifica and used it when the problem continued withall the same problems but this time my fuel gauge dropped to empty and my dte distance until empty dropped to zero and my truck shut off as i was merging onto the highway and i nearly got involved into an accident with several vehicles. i am not only concerned about this issue but also for my safety and others on the road. i have agin contacted the dealer and this time i provided a video of the lights and dash lights which included the noise coming through my stereo that i recorder with my iphone they again made an appointment with me to bring my pacifica back in and they made it clear that i would have to pay for their time once agian until they can find the problem and at which time they said the warranty company would cover the costs. my concern is from what i have been reading in these complaint posts is that they will find nothing and i will walk away with empty pockets. *tt..updated 04/18/13 *bf

Electrical system failure. . we are experiencing periodic flickering of any electrical equipment that was on (dashboard lights, dome lights, headlights, radio, hvac) and the intermittent abs and brake alarms that may follow. we also hear a loud click in the radio speakers. we have taken the car to our local chrysler dealer. they said they could not diagnose because they cant verify the problem and it doesn't leave any computer codes behind. i know we're not the only ones with this issue. there are blogs all over the website about this chrysler issue. *tr
Car has stalled (engine cuts out completely) without any warning and while being driven at least 4 time. most recent was while merging onto freeway it just stopped, nearly causing fatal accident to my daughter who was driving at the time. complete shut down of car causes the steering wheel to lock with no means of getting to side of road. you're a sitting duck for a crash. fortunately, she got the car in park and restarted it. the car is at stevens creek chrysler dealership (towed there today). i am also in touch with chrysler corporation regarding this flaw and reparations that are due me from this lemon. the dealerships number is 408 248-1800. they are aware i am pursuing my options with this dangerous car and i really don't want it back even if they tell me they've fixed it. i don't trust this problem as it's rampant and cars are being recalled for this reason. it's a blessing my daughter wasn't killed from what this car did.
I was turning left at about 10 miles per hour and the engine of the car turned off.
Approximately around october 2010, my brake light started to blink on and off. shortly after that, the abs light started to do the same thing. when they would flash, they would also "ding" and it would shut off the radio until it was finished flashing and dinging. i have taken this car to numerous shops and has several diagnostics done, and no one can tell me what the problem is. i have been told so many things. by the time i go to get something repaired, i'm informed that nothing is wrong with the parts that i have been informed to replace. i have been told that my alternator over charges, the chip in my key is missed up, my powertrain contrain module needs to be replaced, my motor mounts are loose (which i've already replaced), my battery was bad (which has also been replaced), and i also need to replace my engine wiring harness. this is over $5000 in repairs. the car is now starting to shut off when i'm at a stop light for too long. there has to be a way to find out what is wrong with this vehicle. it is costing me too much money to continue to pay the monthly car not and diagnostic tests. i have contacted chrysler and they have been no help at all. i seriously think that there should be a recall for this issue. i cannot be the only person suffering with this problem. this is an issue that happens everyday. because no one can properly diagnose this problem, it's really become excessive. it's an issue that i deal with on a daily basis. *tr
Burns oil, brakes flutter , check engine light on no one can figure out why or how to turn it off i live in california so light on gives me an automatic fail on my smog test all of this is ongoing and has been for over a year. *tr
The driver side & middle row power outlets do not work. *tr
I drive a 2006 chrysler pacifica touring. i have had issues with the abs light coming on and off. it does not make a difference the speed i am traveling and when i come to a stop it begins to vibrate and i rearended the people infront of me. i have also had issues with my car stalling for no apparent reason. it is hard to believe that there is not a recall on this particular unit. i have called the dealership and also chrysler and they said no problems have ever been documented...they need to start checking this site and see that all of the problems are the same. *cw
Fails to start. *jb
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact noticed that the display on the instrument panel would sporadically fail. in addition, the vehicle would stall without warning. on one occasion, the piston rod failed and caused the engine to stall while idling. she took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the battery, alternator, and computer (icm). shortly after the repairs, the failure resurfaced. all of the remedies have been insufficient in correcting the failures. the failure mileage was 27,922 and current mileage was 59,999.
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. while attempting to open the door, the contact receives an electrical shock from the vehicle. the power locks and doors fail to operate, but the vehicle is able to be driven. the dealer was notified. the electrical module on the passenger side door had been replaced three times. there are no recalls regarding this failure. the current mileage was 14,699 and failure mileage was 680.
After i have been driving fine for a while, i will turn (into a parking lot etc.) and need to turn again and the car will die. *jb
Twice, in 6 days, the pacifica has stalled while driving. the first time my wife was driving 25-30 mph and was turning on the radio, and the second time i was driving about 30 mph and turning on the heat. both times the engine completed cut off and left us with no power steering or brakes. it is a safety hazard for my family. the dealer had the car and stated there was no found problem. the second time it happened the dealer took the car and again claims there is nothing wrong with the car. they still have the car and no solution. *nm
Vehicle stalled in traffic, would not re-start. vehicle was pushed into a parking lot. vehicle started 1 hour later and driven home. vehicle was towed to dealer - did not want to take a chance stalling in traffic again. dealer found a fault code and repaired(?) security system. *nm
My wife was driving vehicle around town on a short trip (<10 mi). she had come to a complete stop to perform a "michigan" turn (turning left using separate turn-around drives located in the median). when she began to accelerate to perform the turn, the car lunged but did not move. her initial reaction was that the car was in neutral, but further review showed that the car had stalled (identified by the "dummy" lights lit up on the dash). she put the car in park, restarted it and proceeded. this is our first experience with the "stalling" problem with this vehicle. gas tank was greater than full but not completely full. vehicle mileage: 7788 miles. vehicle had probably not reached full operating temperature. *jb
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the vehicle would not accelerate properly while driving 60 mph. she took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the sensors. the contact also noticed that the vehicle was using excessive fuel at low mileages and she smelled a strong odor of gasoline coming from the vehicle. she took the vehicle back to the dealer and they stated that the wires in the electrical system were damaged. the repair would cost $3,000; however, the dealer could not diagnose the failure pertaining to the fuel system. the vehicle has not been repaired. weeks later, the driver side head lamp failed, reducing all visibility. several months later, the vehicle would vibrate abnormally and was taken back to the dealer. the technician replaced another sensor. days later, the contact noticed that the accelerator pedal would become stuck in a fixated position, but the dealer could not duplicate the failure. lastly, while driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle stalled without any warning. she took the vehicle to the dealer, but they could not diagnose the failure. she is in the process of notifying the manufacturer. the failure mileage was 200 and current mileage was 32,000.
My new chrysler pacifica has stalled twice while i was making a slow left hand turn. i only have 2000 miles on the vehicle. my gas tank was 3/4 full. i use regular gas. the dash board lights stayed on while this occurred. i hope this can be repaired since i no longer feel safe in this vehicle. i almost had a wreck during one of these occurrences. please help because after doing some research on the internet i understand this problem has occurred since the 2004 model year and chrysler doesn't seem to care. *nm
