When driving the car would stall at stop signs or has issues maintaining speed going up hills. also i took the vehicle into a mechanic and they told me the sub-frame is completely rotted through and the steering is being held together with 1 bolt. they stated the car is unsafe to drive.

I had been having issues with my vehicle sputtering while driving on and off for a few months. i had a tune- up done which worked for a few weeks until it started up again. i was driving my children to school when the car started to jerk front and back and the engine would alternate between reving up and sputtering like it was going to die out. i managed to drop my kids of at school and get back home. my husband took the car in and they service guy said that it would cost around $5000.00 to repair. he stated that the engine mount was cracked and the frame was rusted which had caused damage to some of the vehicle wiring. we took it to another shop and the service guy at this shop said the same. he told us that the vehicle was not safe to drive that the engine could essentially fall right out while i was driving it. needless to say i decided not to drive the vehicle again. i used this vehicle to drive my children everywhere. i am extremely frustrated with this situation because i was not aware of this type of problem with my vehicle prior to this incident. i am thankful that nothing happened while i was driving with my children; but i can't help but wonder how may other people are out there driving around in this vehicle not knowing what could happen. my husband contacted chrylser which was a waste of time. i wonder how they can get away with this. not only am i out of a car but i cant get much on a trade in because the vehicle isn't safe to drive.

As i sat at a stop light waiting for it to turn green, the speedometer jumped up to 20 mph and the vehicle lunged forward. i almost rear ended the vehicle in front of me. the vehicles check engine light came on and had stated on since than. i had the code scanned and it came back as codes p0700 and p0740. i searched for the meaning of those codes and they pretty much said it was the tcm (transmission control module) which had been recalled on several chrysler pacifica's. i called the local dealer and they said that was not a recall on my vin specific vehicle. i of course asked how it was not recalled on my vehicle when everything i have read says it was for all 2005-2006 pacifica's. there have been other reports of this same incident happening with other pacifica owners as well. i would like to have the tcm on my vehicle recalled and replaced just as thousands of others were. if i had been and closer to any of the vehicles in front of me the several times this has happened then i would have rear ended several people by now and none of the accidents would have been my fault. these incidents happen every time i am driving in town. it never lunes forward as far as i am aware, on the freeway. please help me fix this problem before it does cause an accident. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. while operating the vehicle, the accelerator pedal suddenly malfunctioned and became stuck causing the vehicle to experience unintended acceleration. in addition, while driving approximately 30 mph, the speedometer displayed the speed as 70 mph. the cause of the failure was not diagnosed. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 103,000.

Sticky gas pedal; a/cwater drains inside passenger cabin. *tr

Entire subframe, engine cradle, riddled with corrosion and rust. spoke with chrysler customer service last year and was told that my pacifica was built/ assembled in delawer therefore my car is not covered by the recall . i found several car with the same issue, my mechanic placed the car up on the lift and got the shock of his day. the whole engine cradle was rusted and corroded. i could put my hand through it, it was so corroded. he told me, basically, that i should get the car fixed or get rid of it i had the car for almost 3 years and the dealer never reported the problem, and i don't believe i could catch it unless i got under the car, additionally it will take more the 3 year for the much rust to shows

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that once he removed pressure from the accelerator pedal, the pedal would become very resistant to being depressed again. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 120,000.

Driving on the highway at about 55mph the car begins jerking lights flashing car slows down and would not accelerate. the car has done this several times resulting in the car shutting off and wouldn't start until the next day. *tr

Driving to work at 5:30 am, the gas pedal began to stick and the car was slowing down on the highway, so to keep up with traffic, i depressed it harder to make the car go at least 65, it went all the way down freely as if it had no stopping point but the car continued to slow. all the time the engine was racing about as fast as my heart and mind. scared and praying not to injure anyone, i tried again and again, and the pedal caught it self and began to react normally for a about 30 seconds with it stuck again and the car's engine began a sound of rushing and the car began to coast. i proceeded off the highway coasting and the pedal caught again and i was able to pull in to work. i am deathly afraid to drive my car... *tr

When parking or low speed 2 to 5 mph the gas pedal stick you have to hit it hard it happen to the wife two times and now she dose not like driving it happen to me 3 or 4 times. the 1st time she said what is the matter with you. has this happen to other people [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. while driving approximately 60 mph, the contact removed her foot from the accelerator pedal and noticed that the pedal became stuck in a partially depressed position. after applying pressure to the accelerator pedal it released. the vehicle was taken to the dealer four different times for a diagnostic test. the technician applied oil to the throttle to serve as a lubricant. the failure continued after the repair. the approximate failure mileage was 83,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while reversing at 5 mph, the accelerator pedal became stuck in a partially depressed position. the contact hit the pedal with force to release it from that position. as a result, the vehicle crashed into a pole. there were no injuries. the vehicle was then taken to an authorized dealer for an inspection and the dealer offered no assistance. the vehicle was repaired for the body damages, but the failure recurred. the failure mileage was 160,000.

I have previously reported a problem with the 2005 chrysler pacifica stalling when turning. the problem has progressively worsened. this month alone, (december 2011) the car has stalled 5 times. i am afraid to drive the car for fear that i will crash when it stalls. there are so many chrysler pacifica owners that are reporting the same problem. along with the stalling issue, the gas pedal sticks and needs to be pushed rather hard. a third problem i have encountered this year is the headlamps "burning out". i have replaced the front left headlamp three this year. i am familiar with the handling instructions for headlamps. i am greatly distressed by these problems, especially the stalling. i have children that i drive around in this car. please do something about chrysler's failure to fix this problem. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the headlights failed without any warning. the contact also mentioned that the accelerator pedal became stuck and she would have to press hard on the brakes to get them to release. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and the current mileage was 81,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. whenever the contact attempted to accelerate, she would notice that extra pressure had to be placed on the pedal in order for the vehicle to accelerate. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the current and the failure mileage was 60,000. the vin was not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the accelerator pedal would become stuck sporadically. the dealer diagnosed that the throttle body was defective. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 43,000.

My gas pedal sticks while driving the car or after i stop the car at a light or sign. when at a complete stop, i have to push hard on the pedal, which makes the car lurch forward. when i am driving on the expressway, it gets stuck and i am not able to accelerate, which can cause an accident. i see that i am not the only one with this problem. i took the car to the dealership, the tech knew what i was talking about, said that it was a throttle body assembly that gets old and needs to be replaced for 200 bucks. if this is happening on the majority of the pacificas, why do the consumers need to pay to have it replaced. this is a strict liability negligence, not my fault. *tr

Gas pedal sticks when accelerating and doesn't release when foot is removed causing unwanted acceleration. pressing on brake does not help. only way to get pedal to unstick is to hit it forceably with your foot sometimes several times before it will release. floor mat has been removed and it didn't help situation. gas pedal sticking and causing unwanted acceleration started happening every once and awhile here and there but has increased in frequency and is now happening everytime i drive the vehicle. i am concerned for my and my childrens safety as it has already caused a minor accident when i rear ended another driver because the car continued to accelerate after i removed my foot from gas pedal, but afraid it will cause a more serious accident in the future. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. while driving at any speed, the vehicle would abnormally veer toward the right. the contact also stated that the brakes would involuntarily engage when driving at any speed. once the brakes disengaged, the vehicle would surge forward momentarily. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they were unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 73,500. updated 5/24/11 *cn the vehicle stalled while in reverse, a water pump was installed and the vehicle surged forward

The gas pedal on my 2005 chrysler pacifica touring model sticks upon acceleration from idle or cold start. it also has a tendency to be hard to push after deceleration to acceleration. this occurs every time going from idle to acceleration and approximately 50% of the time while running. *tr

I have a 2005 chyrsler pacifica. the gas pedal is sticking. it sticks hard enough that you have to forcefully push the accelerator peddle down. this causes unwanted rapid acceleration! the problem is getting worse in the past three weeks. the pedal has gotten stuck four times. i was backing out of a parking space and the car accelerated in reverse. unsure, if my family car is safe, for my family. *tr

My chrysler pacifica 2005, has a problem with the gas pedal. it is sticking when i want to accelerate. i have to push it really hard to unstick the pedal. *tr

I just took my 2005 chrysler pacific in due to the gas pedal sticking. the gas pedal would stick and i would have to press on it hard in order for it to work. this would happen almost everytime i started up my car. the service person stated that there was some type build up due to wear and tear on the vehicle. i only have 42,000 miles on my car. i paid for the repair (approx $190) because my warranty didn't cover the problem. i can't believe that at 42,000 this would happen. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated the accelerator pedal stuck; he stated that it would release when he pressed hard on the pedal. the vehicle had not been inspected at the time of the complaint. the failure mileage was approximately 66,000. the current mileage is approximately 67,000. updated 10/27/10 *bf updated 11/01/10*jb

Defective sticking gas pedal on chrysler pacifica. *tr

I own a 2005 chrysler pacifica. i purchased the vehicle new in 2006. the accelerator on the vehicle sticks forcing me to apply a great deal of pressure to make it go. i have been told that this is the result of the accumulation of gunk in the throttle and that this is a common problem with the pacifica. i believe this poses a safety issue for me and my family along with other motorists. this is clearly a manufacturers defect since it is so common place in the pacificas. i would like to ask your agency's help in making chrysler accountable to fix this defect before someone gets killed. *tr

2005 chrysler pacfica has a sticky gas pedal. gas pedal will get stuck while driving and then cause the car to lunge forward when gets un stuck. it is not very safe at all. *tr

Accelerator stuck open when braking traveling ~ 10mph. this happened 3 different times within 9 months span. i had to put the gear in neutral and turn off the engine. chrysler dealer in lithia, or examined my 2005 chrysler pacifica and was unable to reproduce the problem and did nothing to correct it. *tr

Sticky accelerator pedal 2005 chrysler pacifica. no easy way to accelerate out of full stop. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. while the vehicle was parked, the contact attempted to start the vehicle and accelerator pedal stuck. the vehicle lunged forward so the contact had to depress the brake pedal firmly to avoid a crash. the failure had been occurring daily since 2010. the vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. the failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 79,000.

This is the second time in approximately two years that i've had to have the same front speed sensor on my 2005 pacifica replaced. on september 13, 2007, the front sensor was replaced. it was still under warranty at this time at 33,000 miles. we were told by the technician that it was "defective." yet, there was no recall issued for the vehicles affected by this. fast forward two years, my car has over 50k miles, is no longer under warranty, and the same sensor has gone off. now, it is a 316.00 job. the part only costs 48.99 through pep boys, so the dealership (jones junction in bel air, md) is robbing me for 268.00 in labor on a service that takes all of 15 minutes to take the wheel on and off. please investigate this travesty of justice. i have been on the internet and it seems this is a common problem with my year, make, and model, and should be addressed by chrysler. *tr

2005 chrysler pacifica. consumer states defective airbag *tgw the consumer stated the air bag light illuminated in september 2009. also, there were problems with the transmission control module, brakes, wheel sensors, a clogged throttle body and for the past 18 months there has been a popping sound coming from the left side of the steering components. the dealership made repairs three times, but the popping sound eventually came back. the drive shaft was replaced three time and the rack and pinion was replaced three times. *jb

I have 2005 chrysler pacifica the accelerator pedal is sticky. it becomes sticky when driving slowing, sometime you will be force to step on the pedal and it will takeoff. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while attempting to enter a highway, the vehicle would not move forward. after shifting into park and back into drive, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and lunged forward. the failure occurred five times. the contact called the manufacturer and was told that they were aware of the failure. the manufacturer stated that the throttle was the cause of the failure and needed to be cleaned out every 30,000 miles. the vehicle had not been repaired when the complaint was filed. the failure mileage was approximately 50,000. the current mileage was 62,508.

i just want to voice my feelings on this company (chrysler) concerning the chrysler pacifica 2005 awd why wasn't this car recalled as a whole. it is a piece of crap i bought this car as a reliable family car being that i am a single mother of 5. i researched this car to make sure that it was going to be the right fit. i have had to buy 3 batteries for this car which to me seems to be a lot. the car burned oil constantly and no one could tell me where the oil was going, i had to have the motor mount changed i had to replace the egr valve failed my emissions because of it right after meaning seconds after it was changed the check engine light came back on while at the shop showing that the catalytic converter needed to be changed! not only did i have to pay for the egr valve but i also had to buy a two year waiver for my emissions in order to get my tabs because there was no way that i was going to be able to afford a catalytic converter. got the catalytic converter changed and the check engine light went off for about a month or so but came right back on. had to get the radiator repaired and now there is 5 different codes popping up p0305, p0404, p0736, p179, and p0720 im sure these codes mean nothing to you but i needed to address. i don't understand how so many complaints were made and these are from families people who spend a little more money on something that is not a mini van to end up with some crap!!!!! no one wants to spend their hard erned money on car repairs when i have to make life decsions on food on the talbe or fix my car well we are eating rice. i am attaching links from online complaints. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/chrysler_pacifica.html http://www.edmunds.com/chrysler/pacifica/2005/consumer-reviews.html no family should have to go through this. *tr

I was making a 800 mile trip in my 2005 chrysler pacifica and noticed that the throttle was starting to stick when my cruise control was disengaged. the only way to fix it was to stomp on the gas pedal. i pulled over to see if there was something stuck around the pedal or even the throttle cable but couldn't find anything. the throttle only stuck when the tac was at around 2700 to 3000 rpms. when i made it to my destination i got on the internet to see if there was anything posted about this problem. to my surprise there were quite a few and some of them within the same mileage and or conditions. most of them took there car to the dealer who either charged them for a new throttle body or pedal assembly or even the throttle cable. i just went out and looked at mine and discovered that a hose that came from the cars air intake was rubbing against the throttle spring and cables. i loosely zip tied the hose to the alternators mounting bracket and haven't had another problem. but the hose was being cut by the cable. i caught mine before it was to bad. *tr

My 2005 pacifica has a gas pedal that sticks. sometimes you must push it super hard causing a jerking of the car. also, the abs light comes on after 3 or 4 min. i will feel a hard brake pedal [like their not working] before this happens. *tr

I own a 2005 chrysler pacifica with a sticky accelerator pedal. we took it to the dealer during the summer 2008 and we were told the throttle cable in the accelerator had carbon build up and had to be cleaned. the dealer cleaned it and it was fine until we had to take it back on 12/21/09. again they cleaned the throttle cable. the first repair was covered by the warranty. the second time cost us $125. i believe our pacifica has the same problem as the toyotas'. i'm sure we'll have to take it back again. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while at a stop light, the accelerator pedal became stuck causing the vehicle to accelerate without manual force. the contact also stated that the fuel gauge failed with the illumination of the low fuel and check engine warning lights. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis but they were unable to duplicate the problem. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 32,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact was involved in two crashes. in the first crash, the contact struck a deer and the air bags failed to deploy. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for repair, but the more it was repaired, the more failures were found. in the second crash, the vehicle automatically accelerated uphill at a high rate of speed and spun out. the vehicle flipped over repeatedly and landed upside down, nearly killing the contact. the vehicle was destroyed. a police report was filed. after the crashes, she received a safety recall notice for the fuel pump module or program pcm. the speed, recall number, and mileages were unknown.

Our 2005 pacifica touring awd was purchased new in 2005, we had a problem with the cruise control at about 4000 miles. when driving out of town the cruise control shut off, the indicator light on the instrument panel still had the cruise light on , but the set light went off. we could not use the cruise control until we pulled over and restarted the engine. this happened again around 16000 miles. both times the dealer said they could not recreate the problem. around 17, 500 miles the radio would not delay and stayed on after the ignition was turned to off. *ak about two weeks later the map lights would not work when the engine was running. it was brought to the dealer and we were told that the body control module (bcm) was bad and it would be replaced. the part was ordered and installed. in january of 2007 my wife (seven months pregnant) and members of her family drove the pacifica to kansas for a family wedding. on the return trip while driving through texas around 10:00pm the instrument panel, brake lights, turn signals, radio, air conditioner/heater all failed. the only working interior/exterior lights were the automatic headlights. she called me and i notified the dealer, who told me to have her bring it in "when she gets back". thankfully a family member in the car had a gps enabled cell phone with a speedometer and they made it back without incident. the bcm was found to be the problem and a new unit was ordered and installed. in march of 2007 the map lights once again stopped working and the vehicle was brought to the dealership yet again. once again the bcm was the problem and it was replaced. we notified chrysler customer service and they had the dealer technician check the wire splicing for the instrument panel thinking that was the problem. the technician could not find anything that would cause the bcm failures and we were told that it should not happen again. needless to say we are worried that this may start happening again.

On october 25, 2006 i drove down my lane in my 2005 chrysler pacifica to pick up my mail at the end of the driveway my 4 year old daughter was in the back seat in a car seat. after retrieving my mail. i backed up and bumped a small tree. i then put the car in drive and at that moment was propelled forward at a high speed without my foot on the gas pedal. within an instant i collided with a larger tree. i hit my head on the windshield, breaking the glass. no air bags deployed. the entire front bumper of the car was destroyed at the center point. my daughter bit her tongue, but otherwise was fine. the car could not be moved after that as the steering fluid was emptied onto the driveway. we filed a police report and had aaa tow the car. i was then taken to emergency. i had hit my hard enough to break the windshield and had cat scan and reported to have a concussion. the damage to the car was approximately $7000.00. my insurance company, westfield insurance covered everything except a $500 deductible, and did supply me with a rental car for 30 days. on november 25, 2006 i received mail from chrysler informing me of a fuel pump recall. on monday, directly after picking the car, i immediately took the car to the chrysler dealership for the recall. i will not drive it again until the fuel pump has been repaired. i know that the reason i went forward without my foot on the gas was due to fuel injection or fuel pump issues. on tuesday november 28, ladd hanford chrysler informed me that their computer that would be fixing the software issues that cause the fuel pump to malfunction was not working. they wanted me to pick up my pacifica and bring it back at a later date'''' i would not be doing that, because i am completely skeptical of the safety on my car. i will not drive it until in has been repaired. the dealer took it to another nearby dealership to resolve the issue, only to discover that they also could not fix the software glitch. *nm

I own a 2005 chrysler pacifica. on three occasions the gas pedal on this car has stuck. the car is under warranty. i took it to the dealer, kerry in milford, ohio and asked to have this potentially dangerous situation corrected. their service people tell me that this is "wear and tear" and not covered by the warranty, and that i can pay $170 for them to clean out the "gunk" under the car, which is likely to be causing the sticking. in over 40 years of driving i have never had this problem before. i wrote chrysler who initially told me that they couldn't repair because the warranty was run, and then, when i corrected that error, said it was not covered under the bumper to bumper warranty. *jb

we have a 2005 chrysler pacifica. that keeps cutting off. the first time it happen i thought well maybe it was something i did. the second time was when i was turning onto a 2 lane road come home late. the car just turned completely off. no warning at all. thankfully the car swerved and missed me and my kids. i then took it toallen samuel's alliance. i told them what was happening and also told them my left light keeps having a short in it. and at times cuts off. the dealer called me back and advised that the light had a defect to it and that for the engine failure it was due to my throttle needing to be cleaned. that was not covered under warranty and had to pay $300 to get that cleaned. i then was called back several hours later and was told that the throttle had been clean but it they test drove it and it seemed like something else was going on. they asked if i would let them keep it until the morning so that they can have there tech look at it again in the morning. i said okay although at this point it was going on the 4th day with out having a replacement vehicle. i was called the next day and was told it was the rear motor mount that need to be replaced. and that was covered however i need to pay my deductible. we went ahead and had them fix the problem . this was at the end of july. it is now september and my 2005 chrysler pacifica is in the shop again .because as i was driving it staled on me again... took it back to the shop and on my way there it staled again. all of sudden my 2005 chrysler pacifica stared making this loud noise when i would accelerated and or turn left........ when we got to the dealer they advise again that now another motor mount has broke... my car has been there a week. and i have not received a loaner car because the warranty company is saying that they will not replace it my 2005 chrysler only has 39,926 ....and the dealership is saying that they will help us out with payment plans the repair ...
