Problems with 2004 Chrysler Pacifica VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Have 2004 chysler pacifica having issues with fuel system truck drives then sputter shuts off take long time starting up also over heats no reason trucks shifts into gear 2 but don't go speed think i'm going transmission slips can be riding up street shuts off on me shifts into drive with rpm saying 2

On wednesday night (13 july 16), se michigan had severe thunderstorms and street flooding. i drove through this for at least 6 miles. the next morning as i was leaving for work, i got into the car, buckled my seat belt and put the car into reverse. there was a loud "crunching" noise but no movement. i put the car in park, got out to see if there was anything behind the car to make that noise but there wasn't. i got back in the car, buckled up, put the car's gear into reverse again. no movement, but an incredibly loud screechy, whiny noise could be heard 4 townhouses away. i barely tapped the accelerator and the car shot backwards out of the space, across the lot, up over a curb, through a flower bed, taking out a large, wooden sign and stopping only when the vehicle crashed into a tree. no air bags deployed at all. police and emts were called to the scene. i was transferred by ambulance to a local hospital. i am not familiar with the vehicle's systems, but i would think this was a throttle issue. for the few seconds the car was moving in reverse, i was stomping on the brake pedal. the brakes were "stiff" and the pedal would only go half way to the floorboards. witnesses stated the car shot out of the parking space "like a bullet" and/or "like a rocket" and that there was no way to stop the car at that speed.

2004 chrysler pacifica, original owner, 60306 miles. car was being serviced and the subframe has almost completely rusted out, making the car undriveable. contacted local dealer and was given chrysler cust service number. car built in sept 2003, said dos not qualify for chrysler (apparently secret) extended warranty. filed a complaint with chrysler, but they will not provide any reply to their "review" . we were fortunate that we were not seriously injured, or killed as a result of this quality issue..... and subsequent refusal to correct by chrysler. anyway to investigate this consumer safety issue? *tr

While leaving a on ramp to us route 15 s. i accelerated to wot(wide open throttle) in order to merge into traffic. once i reached 60 mph i pushed the set button on the cruise control as i left off of the accelerator pedal. the vehicle continued to accelerate instead of holding the 60 mph speed. i slowed down by pushing on the brake pedal, but once i left off of the brake pedal the vehicle continued to accelerate. i tried the cancel button for the cruise control and also the on/off button, but nothing worked. my wife reached over and pulled the floor mat back to make sure it was not the mat and it continued. i placed the shifter in neutral and the rpm's were at 3500. i turned the ignition switch off and i coasted. i then restarted the vehicle and the rpms immediately went to 3500 and then dropped to 750. i am an ase certified master technician and this is the first time i have experienced this in a vehicle. i am glad i was driving and not my wife. once i reached my destination i disconnected the cruise control cable at the throttle body. since this vehicle is a cable operated throttle body my only conclusion is that either the throttle plate stuck, which it is currently moving smooth, or the cruise control is having issues. i am planning on taking it to work in the morning and trying to diagnose it. i have been repairing cars professionally since 1992. starting in a ford dealership for 8 years, then being self employed with my own auto repair business until my current position in an independent repair facility (ac delco tss shop) for the past 11 years. *tr

I bought the car feb 6th 2014 from a buy here pay here. after i bought the car i noticed that the vehicles gas light would move on its own from half a tank to empty while driving also my lights would flicker and engine would make a humming noise also after getting on and off the freeway, hittiing the gas pedal car did not want to accelerate and would sputter. on june 13 2014 my vehicle was putting while going 35mph and just shut off on me while driving with my son in the car. *tr

I purchased my 2004 chrysler pacifica in october of 2013. i was having some issues with my car making a clunking noise with acceleration and i took it up to the car shop. (may of 2014) i was told the motor mounts are rusted out and the engine cradle is rusted almost through. i was told there was a recall for the 2004 pacificas. i called chrysler and was told my car is out of the range for the recall by 6 months. i was not aware of this recall or would have taken care of it when i found out about it. the cost to repair is about 3,000.00 and the car is not safe to drive. i have found this is a major problem with many other pacifica owners and would like something done about this. i do not feel i should have to pay for this repair when it has been know by chrysler that this is a very unsafe defect in their product. *tr

Four months after replacing a rear motor mount. it failed again. this time it cause the other two motor mounts to fail which melted wires leading to the failure of the car's power control module. this resulted in a loss of speedometer, other electrical functions, and the loss of three ignition coils. it was brought to a dealer who fixed the pcm, and later discovered that all motor mounts need replacing. he had no explanation why a motor mount would have failed four months after they were inspected to be safe, and when one was brand new. the cost requested by the dealer for repair totals more than $2,500. *tr

this vehicle has suffered through a wide variety of problems as outlined from online complaint boards. today has started sudden acceleration while stopped at traffic lights almost taking me into traffic your investigation on these are closed but i never had satisfaction speaking to chrysler officials and was informed by my dealer a couple of years ago that the vehicle was made by the ;old; company and the new company does not honor problems.what is disturbing is that a close inspection by me has revealed that the wiring harness going to the control computer was routed under the drivers side flexible motor mount and the harness has been damaged by the mount compressing this harness right on top of a bolt on the frame causing fraying of several control wires .the poor design has indeed created most of the problems with the vehicle and could cause wrecks and perhaps even deaths. chrysler has informed me they do not accept suggestions from the public but for the safety of the citizens still driving these vehicles,i see a lot on the road, please contact them as to this problem which while not covered under their warranty should be as this flaw only shows up with mileage. the wiring harness has not been priced by me yet but if past experience is the guide chrysler parts are significantly higher than competitors,even if the last 'genuine' part had product of south korea right on the box. the problem is poor design. *tr

Starting in 2011 my pacifica's electrical systems seem to be shutting down. first i lost the ability to open windows or use power locks on the passenger side. next i lost the cruise control function. now my check engine light appears intermittently. most recently the air bag light and alarm comes on but only intermittently. *js

After turning right at stop light and proceeding slowly with acceleration, a loud/shaking noise was heard from 2004 chrysler pacifica (similar to a cell phone placed on vibrate instead of ringing when a call is received). within seconds, vehicle unintentionally accelerated and i was unable to stop it, even after pressing on brakes. i was a block away from where i had to turn to enter our subdivision, traveling down a two-lane road. thankfully, no cars were traveling in opposite direction, or coming out of our subdivision, so i was able to turn left to enter our subdivision. to try to slow car down, i had to press down on brakes as hard as i could while turning the wheel, which caused the vehicle to swerve, almost hitting a light pole. after turning and stopping the swerve, the vehicle accelerated even further, reaching the '4' on the tachometer (before the turn, it had been at a '3'). as i approached the four-way stop in our subdivision, i again stepped on the brakes as hard as i could, but it had no effect. the tachometer read '4', but the speedometer showed 30 mph, regardless of how hard i pressed on brakes. i could not brake at all, and was losing the ability to steer as i approached the sign. the only way to stop the vehicle was to place it in 'park'(which made the tachometer go even higher) and remove the keys to turn off the car as quickly as i could. this stopped the car right in front of the stop sign. i waited about 30 seconds and attempted to restart car, but after ignition key was turned, tachometer revved up again to '4', though speedometer read '0'. husband maneuvered car the one block home by placing it in 'neutral'. this is the first incident of this nature. chrysler to be notified in morning, as i called after business hours (7:41 pm cst). myself, two kids, and two dogs were in the car driving down what is normally a busy two-lane road and into subdivision full of playing children, truly a miracle no one was injured. *tr

I have recently made a complaint to chrysler about a 2004 pacifica that i bought about 4mos ago. i know that my car may be out of "dealer warranties", but when there are things going on with your vehicle that's under recall, something should be done about before someone is injured or even killed. my gas pedal sticks, my car has stalled off on several occasions while turning in the middle of an intersection, and my fuel system was not holding or distributing fuel properly and my motor mounts are broken! i can't afford to pay for my car monthly, and pay for repairs that are almost going on with all 2004 pacificas'. i park my car only to use one vehicle that 2 adults and a17 and18yr have to travel with when 3 of the 4 of these persons work. life is hard and its not fair that the "big companies" continue to get away with it and the hard working person is falling deeper and deeper into a do it the best way you can situation. problems with the fuel system have supposedly been fixed and they are included in a recall that doesn't include my vin but my make and model and year! come on america!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *tr

At any given time when pressing on the accelerator, the accelerator locks up and does not depress. after several attempts it releases and lurches forward. this has been going on for at least 6 months now. it happens about 4 or 5 times per week. no repairs done to date. vehicle should be recalled for this defect. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the accelerator pedal would intermittently become stuck in the open throttle position. when the failure would occur, the vehicle would jerk violently before accelerating and stalling. the vehicle was taken to a local repair facility where the independent mechanic discovered that all of the engine mounts were fractured. the engine mounts were replaced at the contact's expense. after repairs, the failure recurred sporadically and the engine would vibrate and exhibit an unusually loud rumble. the contact was sitting idle at a gated entrance. the vehicle abnormally accelerated up to 15 mph and crashed into the gate while the brakes were depressed. a police report was available. the contact was unable to drive the vehicle from the scene and the vehicle was towed to her insurance company's lot. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact was awaiting a response from the manufacturer. the failure mileage was approximatley 85,000 and current mileage was 118,343.

The accelerator sticks preventing acceleration. this has happened multiple times. the dealer states that it is due to a build-up of carbon on the engine components. maintenance is required - not covered under any warranty or factory program. *tr

My problem is that my car gas pedal will get stuck but it's not an everyday occurrence it happens maybe one time a day sometimes two with a week or least in between then so no mechanic can help me and when i called chrysler and told my problem they won't help me even though they have other cars with the same exact issue but because my car isn't the same model or year they won't help. im so frustrated. when my car is in the park mode and you put to drive or reverse it gets stuck like there is no acceleration coming to it for about after 5 seconds until you keep pushing on it and then when it finally releases your foot is pushing on the gas and so of course your car suddenly floors i'm lucky i haven't hit anything or anyone for that matter! i hope this gets fixed soon before something worse happens! *tr

Cruise control would slow during a strain then over time completely quit working. the vacuum hose has been replaces around 3 times and another part once. the cruise control has quit working once again. *tr

Dt: the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. she purchased the car in march of 2005 . she had to go back to the dealer every weekend since purchasing the vehicle except for the month of june. the vehicle was making a clanking noise due to transfer case malfunctioning. transfer case was replaced previously in april, 2005, and needed to be replaced again. also, vehicle surged while driving. . she felt unsafe driving vehicle. the manufacturer said that the dealer has to take care of the vehicle and has to get a service representative to inspect the vehicle. the contact felt that until something was resolved with this vehicle there will be a fatality . the vehicle was taken to the dealer for 17 times for various problems.*ak

Auto accident. 2004 chrysler pacifica was stopped in traffic. a car attempting to cut in front of non-moving chrysler pacifica from right side, severely impacted pacifica on front passenger side of pacifica. it immediately surged forward at a high rate of speed and, despite having both feet pressing on the brake, pacifica could not be stopped until, in desperation, driver through the pacifica into park. another note, despite the severity of impact, not a single air bag deployed. pictures are available. car was towed to orlando chrysler in orlando, fl. *ak
