Transmission cooler lines are corroded and leaking fluid all around the front passenger side wheel well. these lines will need replaced before the transmission fails. the frame is soaked with transmission fluid and this is a potential fire hazard if the fluid leaks onto the exhaust or catalytic converter. *tr
Acceleration sluggish at first. then the rpm's would increase without any acceleration. finally, would not shift out of 2nd gear and if went above 30 the rpm's would increase without anymore power to the wheels. found a transmission hose blown also. *tr
Pulling out on the road before oncoming traffic and accelerated normal. the vehicle traveled about 10 to 20 yds when the engine rpm drastically increased like the vehicle went into neutral, but the transmission was in d. it happened so quickly and before i could let my foot off the accelerator a very loud bang occurred in the driveline. i immediately let off the accelerator and began pulling out of the right lane of traffic on to the shoulder out of traffic. i attempted to increase acceleration with the vehicle in d and the rpm increased and no forward motion, shifted to 3 and tried again (nothing), shifted to 2 and then the transmission engaged and forward motion was established. took vehicle to gm dealer and results were a broken sprag in the transmission. gm rebuilt transmission to repair. discussed with serv mgr the problem and he indicated that they see these sprags break quite often in this type of transmission. doing further research after that i discovered that there are numerous occasions of this vehicle with drive train problems in the transmission all throughout the veh mileage range from 4, 5000, 10000, ...
2005 chevy trailblazer. bought the vehicle used in 2008 with only 33,868 miles on it. have 78,158 on vehicle now and last month had to have the radiator replaced and transmission rebuilt. the place that did the repairs told me he gets about 3-5 trailblazers a year with the same problem. he had 2 folks call about the same issue while mine was on the rack. seems the radiator develops a small leak in the system that cools the trans and causes the transmission to fail. had no real issues until last month when vehicle would not come out of 3rd gear. could put auto transmission in to 1 or 2 and then be able to take off from dead stop and shift into drive to get the vehicle home and then to shop. have looked online to see if there was a recall on this issue and there has not, but appears there have been other complaints about this issue. total cost for vehicle repair was $2,814.17. *tr

I have a 2002 trailblazer that is currently getting it's 3rd transmission installed due to failure. the first one was replaced in 2005 at 48,000 miles. i was told by gm it was replaced with a new one, which i understand has a 100,000 mile warranty. i am now having another one put in after 80.,000 miles being put on the new one at a cost of $3000. when i contacted gm regarding this i was told: "at some point the customer has to take responsibility for their own vehicle, gm is not going to assist you with this issue". this will absolutely be the last gm product i own. *tr
