Headlights and interior lights flash and flicker ramdomly while driving. sometimes it is so bad that other drivers pull over because they think i am flashing the lights at them. dealership has been unable to fix the problem after four visits.*ak

The headlights on the vehcle dimme d intermitantly. it occurred at night and often when i remove the foot from the gas pedal. it may happen one night and not happen again until 3 to 4 nights from then. *ak it has been brought back to the multiple dealerships 4 times. once, they stated it was a bad ground, next time they changed the battery and the next time they said it was normal. then i went to another dealership and they changed out the alternator. this is a safety issue for other drivers alng with myself because of the blinking headlights. the amp meter of the dashboard fluctuates when this occurs.

Exterior lights and interior lights dim out randomly while driving. the service department at gm says it is normal and nothing they can do. chevrolet has issued a bulletin regarding this. how safe can it be to drive at night with headlights dimming out? *tr

I purchased an 2005 trailblazer and my headlights go bright and dim and i contacted gm and they are unwilling to fix the problem and to put me into a safer car i am scared to drive this vehicle considering i have two small children i brought the vehicle into the dealership and they replaced the alternator and it happened again

2005 chevrolet trailblazer headlights dimmed while driving for no reason. vehicle brought to dealer, they stated it was normal due to an air pump turning on and off. i felt it was very dangerous due to other driver's thinking i am flashing the headlights at them. that happened about 10 times a week while driving at night. i have found online many other owners with the same problem. at the link below http://www.topix.net/forum/autos/chevrolet-trailblazer/tucllqk4uif5na0ut. ak

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the electrical system failed at least three times in the front passenger seat. repairs were made under warranty; however, the last failure was the contact's liability. on a separate occasion, she heard a loud noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. the manufacturer stated that there was a pinched wire issue with that particular year, make, and model vehicle that could affect other electrical components. the dealer made repairs, but the failure recurred within 48 hours. the dealer found wiring in a different area that failed and subsequently caused the failure of the front passenger seat. in addition, the exterior lights flickered intermittently, but the mechanic stated that the wiring would not cause that particular failure. the vin was provided, but was not accepted by the system. the current and failure mileages were less than 43,000.

In march 2007 the check engine light came on and stayed on . i took vehicle to dealer to have it checked out. it turned out to be the secondary air pump either clogged, not running or something electrical with it. ever since then all the exterior and interior lights became bright then dimmed for a few minutes when i start the vehicle. after leaving for work and stopping the vehicle to turn, and then again a few miles down the road, the headlamps started to flicker. sometimes it flickered a few more times before i got to work , only 25 minutes from home. i have noticed the battery gauge fluctuated while this is happened. i was told that this was normal. also, i am not sure this was related, but ever since the check engine"light problem the air conditioning system did not work properly. it didn't work on 5, but it did blow some on the other levels, and that varied too. i have had the air conditioning recharged, to no avail, it acted like there was a leak somewhere. hopefully ,gm or someone else will find the solution before there was an electrical fire or even a case of road rage due to other drivers thinking i wa s flashing the bright lights at them. *ak

Severe fluctuations in electrical power, resulting in dimming of headlights. *ak

The headlights will dim when driving the vehicle. this can occur when idling but mostly happens when the vehicle is at highway speed. this has happened several times and two different dealers have checked the problem and performed all applicable tsbs and replaced the bcm with no difference in the problem. the lights will dim enough that when driving on dark country roads i am not able to identify the edges of the road. tech support claims this is normal operation of the system. *jb

2005 chevrolet trailblazer - vehicle headlights intermittently flicker while operating. condition exists every time the vehicle is operated resulting in a safety hazard to both the driver, occupants and other motorists. chevrolet representatives have replaced the alternator/generator, air pump and fixed a potential electrical ground with negative results. at this point chevrolet representatives are stating that this issue can not be fixed and should be accepted as a normal driving characteristic of the vehicle. this is a safety concern. *jb

2005 chevrolet trailblazer's headlights flickered on and off. **cc sometimes the flickering last for a few seconds other times it has lasted up to 10 min. the dealer was able to duplicate the problem but stated there was a tsb from chevrolet which stated the flickering was normal. therefore there were no repairs attempted. the brakes pulsated due to rust on the rotors. *nm

2005 chevy trailblazer, headlights and interior lights dim and flash for no reason while driving (looks like a christmas tree). if i stop and shut the vehicle off, and restart, it stops. see several people having the same issue when i search on-line. dealer claims they can find no error codes. *nm

While driving my 2005 chevy trailblazer the headlights go out momentarily and i also notice a flickering on the dash lights. this normally happens within the first 5 minutes of driving and continues for the 15 minute commute. so far i only notice this happening at night. i normally drive about 10 miles each way to work. i work 12 hour shifts both days and nights. as a result, i tend to have to drive to work and home in the dark. i am worried that the system will totally fail. furthermore, when i am driving behind people and the headlights keep flashing at them it causes me to worry that their attention is now focused on my headlights instead of the road. the first time it happened i had my radio, rear-defrost and headlights on. i also noticed that the battery/charging gauge drops below 10v when this happens. however, the same condition has been repeated with only the necessary equipment running. for example, headlights, taillights, and dash lights, all other equipment off. i currently have been doing a some reading on-line and have found that many people who own the 2005 trailblazer have experienced the same problems with their headlights. i have not replaced any parts yet. the vehicle is under warranty until 36k; the vehicle currently has 24k miles. *jb

Dt*: the contact stated the taillights stopped working. the dealership repaired the taillights under warranty. within three months, the low beam light stopped working. the contact is concerned there may be some unsafe electrical problems with the vehicle.

In 2006 while driving the headlights would flicker. the dealership said this is normal. now when driving the headlights will cutoff for approximately 10 minutes and will then cut back on. it can be after driving for 2 minutes or 30 minutes. the high beam lights work fine when the "regular" headlights will not. for the past 2 years the gas gauge, speedometer, and oil pressure gage do not work properly. i can be stopped and the speedometer will show i am going x mph. it varies on the amount of miles the speedometer is off. the oil pressure gauge always sits below the low line. the gas gauge is not correct but does move. this vehicle is a peace of junk.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving at night, the headlights dim and flicker on and off. this occurred intermittently without warning. the front passenger power window rubs against the door frame and intermittently fails to close. the dealership replaced the alternator; however no further inspections have been made. the manufacturer has been alerted.

2005 trailblazer turn signal blinks like hazard light/4 way flasher. *jb

Headlights dim intermittently, heat looses power at the same time, now getting flickering of interior lights. wasn't able to fix it. bumper warping. getting 10 miles to the gallon! paint on buttons wearing on radio. sun roof leaked profusely, had it fixed. rear window defogger doesn't work. head liner sagged. *tr

One week after purchasing my new vehicle, i drove at night. while driving, my headlights went dim upon deceleration. i took it back to the dealer to have it fixed. they said they cannot duplicate the problem and could not fix it. now, i am taking it back again and having them drive it at night. this is a safety issue that i am not willing to live with and want it fixed. *jb

While i do not own a chevy trailblazer, i frequently am driving behind these vehicles and note that the brake light on one side or the other is often burnt out. seems that there is a problem of some kind or maybe trailblazer owners are just prone to not checking their lights. *nm

Dt*: the contact stated the head lamps flicker from bright to dim automatically while driving at nighttime. the vehicle was taken to the local dealership for inspection. the local dealership personnel determined the head lamps were flickering. however, until the manufacturer had a solution to the problem, the dealership could not perform any repairs. updated 024/24/06

While driving at night upon decelerating and braking headlights and gauges flickered on and off. this has happened numerous times. however, it does not occur every night. i have been pulled over 2 times by police officers in the last 3 months.*ak

Headlights are constantly flickering causing other drivers to react as if i'm an emergency vehicle. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph, the engine stalled without any warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle restarted after several attempts. the failure occurred sporadically. in addition, the headlights unintendedly failed to illuminate when activated on twenty separate occasions. the vehicle had been taken to an authorized dealer eights times for the same failures. the alternator was replaced three times and the failure continued to occur. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 300. sm.

Night driving under normal circumstances the vehicle a chevrolet trailblzer ls 2005 has a problem that randomly shuts off the headlights and dashboard lights. the trailblazer decides to do this totally on its own at random. this causes a potentially deadly situation when on the interstate and your headlights go out and decide to come back on at random intervals maybe aproximately 15 to 20 seconds apart. several attemps have been made to the chevrolet dealership to get the problem repaired. their comment is that they either cannot duplicate the problem or their is a service bulletin that explains the issue. i have done the procedures that the dealership described in the service bulletins with no success. currently my trailblazer is being repaired once again at terry lee chevrolet as of 12-19-06. the last time that the vehicle was in for repair terry lee chevrolet replaced what they had though was a faulty body control module. replacing this module obviously did not rectify the problem and on thursday 12-14-06 the problem once again returned. since the vehicle is used to transport my childeren and wife who have been driving primarily at night. i have become skeptical about whether or not the vehicle is safe to actually drive at night because you never know when the lights will decide to turn off by themselves and potentially cause them to be in an accident. *nm

Headlights flickering completely off and on in the dark and daylight hours as well as completely quitting. had it to dealership 2 times for this matter and they could not find the cause of the problem. i felt it was a hazard driving it this way being. it also happened at night. this started in november/december 2005. haven't had it a year yet and already the driveshaft has been replaced . is this a lemon ?*ak

Driving at night the head lights dim then brighten the amp gauge drops to 9 then recharges again making the lights come on brighter. had it to the dealer and they tell me nothing is wrong with it. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving at any speed, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal, but the vehicle did not respond. simultaneously, the headlights began to dim and flicker. the contact did not notice any differences in the vehicle prior to the failures. the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. the current mileage was 34,000 and failure mileage was 2,000.

My 2005 trailblazers headlights flash when you let up off the gas pedal. also, the amp gauge drops, the engine revs down and the inside fans and lights dim down. the flashing of the headlights is getting worse, and like others have reported, the traffic ahead thinks you are blinking them to either pull over, or speed up. i too notice it more in the colder months. i agree -this is definitely a safety hazard! something needs to be done about it. i have reported the problem, but they say nothing can be done. purchased this suv brand new, had problem from the beginning. too many people with same problem. general motors should be ashamed. *tr

Purchased 2005 trailblazer 3/8/05 @ bacon chevrolet in palestine,tx. problems: while driving headlight & interior dashboard lights flicker & shut off, engine loses power & surges lunging forward, battery gauge drops & pegs out, check engine light comes on, ding alarm, radio, electric locks, etc, w/ no key in ignition go off & on, no power cant start vehicle. svc mgr/tech comments: cant duplicate complaint, no codes showing, gm bulletin stating "normal" & working as designed, can not replace or work on anymore due to tech/gm motors stating "normal", or until problem can be duplicated or until they have a way to fix. repairs:(total of 9 times in shop) 2 headlamp switches, 1 battery, 3 times wiring harness gone through, numerous pcm updates/reprograms, fuel pressure check, ipc reprogram, data recorder installed, replaced bcm body control module, workorders have been altered & work stated done that has not been done. i have all my workorders. conclusion: took to bbb of tyler,tx.cs#chv0592738, had arbitration hearing. bbb's decision was that their opinion was that the lights going off while driving was not a safety issue. thought the bbb was suppose to be a consumer advocate! i found this website while doing a college research paper. how many other consumers have same problem, but do not know about this website. will anything be done before someone is killed or is that what it will take! *tr
