Intermittently while driving at various speeds the headlights and dash lights will go dim for a few seconds then return to normal. the voltage gauge also drops, then returns to normal. *tr
The low beams on my wife 2005 trailblazer went out while we driving home to va from sc. they still wont work. apparently mine aint the only vehicle with this problem. why wont chevy recall them and repair them. *tr
The trailblazer i bought seem to be more of a headache the a sport vehicle. i wish i had look better at all the information the was out there. i will not purchase another one, or recommend this vehicle to anyone. sorry i bought it. *tr
Lights dim while driving causing others to either think you are flashing them or allowing them to merge in front of you. neither which is the case. *kb
Sometimes while driving my vehicle at night(and during the day), within (15-20 minutes into the drive) my headlights go off and do not come back on for a period of time. when this happens i usually have to pull over and let the vehicle sit for a period of time(15-60 minutes). this issue is intermittent and i can not predict when it will happen. but it happens enough that this poses a great safety risk to me and other drivers on the freeway. *tr
The date, mileage and mph were either estimated or just ut in since options did not include "unknown". when driving at night headlights sometimes turns off. only the lowbeams turn off, but when driving with high beams it is dangerous but necessary (especially when on the highways). i called gm and they pretty much claimed that no one had ever complained about it. but i did research and it happens a lot. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the gasoline gauge and the speedometer failed. she was unable to see how fast she was traveling or whether or not she had a sufficient amount of fuel in the vehicle. in addition, the headlights would also shut off on an intermittent basis which caused her to change the bulbs frequently. the vehicle was not inspected by a dealer nor had it been repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and advised her that there were no recalls on the vehicle. the failure mileage was approximately 104,000.
I was driving on the freeway when i noticed my speedometer suddenly went to 100 miles an hour. i knew this could not be the case as my gps showed i was traveling at 55mph. it then went to 120miles an hour and flip. flopped back and forth. i went to the chevrolet dealership and they informed me it was the electrical cluster and even though there were many complaints, chevrolet would not pay for it. the cost to me would be over $500 i live on a small social security check, so could not afford to repair it. next at 85,000 miles the fuel gauge went haywire and would not register any fuel although i would fill it completely. also, the lights blink off and on when i am driving at night, so, i am afraid i will be stranded somewhere in the dark with my car quitting all together. this was my last car purchase before i retired and i am just sick that the chevrolet company will not fix these defects...they fix the same cluster in their chevrolet trucks....why not in the cars? by the way, i just got a letter last week saying they would "split the cost " to fix the fuel gauge...(my cost is $200 1/3 of my social security check!! *tr
While driving it appears that my headlights are receiving a surge of power which causes them to blink as if i am flashing my headlights. this has happened on and off for a couple of years now. since this has started i have had to replace my headlights about every 6 to 8 months. after the third time i replaced the same headlight my mechanic showed me the fuse and stated that it seems there is a surge of power that causes the fuses to blow. i explained to him that my headlights seem to blink on their own every now and then and we did some research online and noticed that this seems to be a common problem in mid 2000 model trailblazers. i contacted gm to make them aware with nothing more than a, "sorry for your inconvenience". i have also experienced issues with my door electronics. you can hear the power windows and door locks make a clicking sound as if they are being engaged without being operated. the speakers in the doors do not work after it rains or in very humid conditions. the power windows and door lock button lights work on and off and blink. the door/key chime rarely works. it seems to me that there is a serious issue regarding the electrical system of this model. i recently heard about the recall starting with 2006 models with electrical issues and i really believe this problem is not just isolated to the electronics in the door, but the overall electrical system in these vehicles. considering the amount of complaints i have researched online it seems that these are common problems with these vehicles. please for the safety of the consumers consider an investigation and recall into the full electrical system of this vehicle as it could be a serious safety hazard risking fire. *tr
My exterior headlights will turn off while i am driving and stay off for 1-10 minutes. the dealer states that they can't do anything unless the car actually does it while they have the car. it only does it every few weeks, sometimes a couple of months. *tr
I was at the gas station filling my tank and the check engine light flashed on and then the low fuel warning message came on in the message center along with the low fuel indicator by the fuel gauge. i turned the truck off and on and the warning message and low fuel light stayed on. after driving for a while, it eventually goes off, but the fuel gauge does not register more than a 1/4 of a tank even when filled up and the warning message comes on along with the low fuel indicator as soon as i start the truck after filling the tank and when the truck is idling, the low fuel message and light come on. another issue with the truck is that the lighting system dims while driving and when i bought this issue up at the dealership, they said it was a known issue with the truck, but did nothing to correct the problem.
Headlights just shut off while driving. no rhyme or reason to it. pulling over and flicking the lights on and off for a while usually gets them back on. exact same problem as the current probe into the same model year of dodge and chrysler minivans! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving 40 mph, the headlights failed. the vehicle was taken to a local repair facility where the contact was informed that the headlight connectors had overheated and melted the wires. the connectors were removed and replaced. the failure mileage was 85,400 and the current mileage was 85,684.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact was driving approximately 25 mph at night. the headlights were activated and suddenly became inoperable. the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road with limited visibility. the engine was turned off. when the vehicle restarted, the headlights were operable. the vehicle resumed normally. the failure occurred on two different times. in addition, the instrument panel and gauges would not function correctly. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. the technician informed that the instrument cluster would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 122,000. the vin was unavailable.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated the brake lights would continuously fail without warning. the contact replaced the fuse, relay switch, bulbs and the circuit board in an attempt to correct the failure but to no avail. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. the vin was not accepted. the failure and current mileages were 78,000.
There have been several occasions where my headlights (only) will not come on at night or they will shut off while i am driving. again it is only my headlights. it happens randomly. one day it will do that and the next day it won't so of coarse when i take it to the shop to have it looked at everything is fine. however i know i am not alone because of the web searches i have done on the issue i can see that several people are complaining about the same issue. *tt
I reached 55,000 miles on my 2005 chevy trailblaizer. now, my speedometer is not working properly. it sticks and sometimes it does not even move off the 0mph. better yet, my head lights are randomly turning off. this occurs at least one a day. i can not understand how chevy can tell me this is not a safety issue. unfortunately, i do not live in a place that hast day light 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and am forced to drive during the night hours. if my lights are out and an accident is caused, i will be held responsible for this. i'm sure i will eventuallyg et pulled over by the police, it's just i have been lucky so far. what do i explain to the officer, "sorry my lights are out and no, i do not know how fast i was going?" this is a joke! there are thousands of complaints posted all over the internet , yet chevy will not admit to this "cluster" issue being related to safety? so when i get tickets from the police, fail my massachusetts state inspection and maybe cause an accident, do i forward all bills to chevy? and if a life is lost, how are they going to relace that? why can't they just recall this issue before this happens, if it hasn't already happened yet? *tr
No crash or injury, but am really afraid of something happening with my son in the suv. my head lights flicker when i slow down and worried that one day they are going to shut off and not come back on. my gas gauge was the next thing that stopped working and now my speedometer is not working now. just like others i thought that i was getting a quality vehicle, at least toyota corrects their mistakes!! *tr
Headlights dim greatly when the temperature is in the 30s or below. took the car in for service at a certified chevrolet repair center only to be told that it is normal. *tr
Headlights flicker and then go out leaving no daytime running lights or headlights for night, rain or snowy conditions. it is not possible to fix without taking in, 2 local garages immediately knew what the problem was and didn't even have to order the parts. *tr
Driver's side headlight was flickering on and off intermittently prior to it ceasing to turn on. the bulbs were replaced but the driver's side headlight does not work! we contacted two local garages and they say that this is a normal occurrence for trailblazers, and that the headlight socket needs to be replaced. i have seen multiple complaints online complaining about this same issue. i am astounded that there is not a safety recall addressing the total loss of the use of the headlights! i would think that not being able to see at night would be a definite safety risk! *tr
First was the right tail light caught fire and blew fuses, then i get power surges that cause the vehicle to accelerate randomly at the worst times and/or will also stall out, which can be potentially very dangerous or end in a fatal accident, it drops in rpms and lights dim then it accelerates... and the last thing is that the fuel gauge fluctuates dramatically and you can never tell how much fuel you really have... drive 10 miles at quarter of a tank and it either stays close to the same spot or drops and the light comes on for low fuel. *tr
Headlights intermittently 'flash' for a second during first 5-10 minutes of driving. have replaced alternator and idler pulley. gm suggests letting vehicle idle 1+ minute after start before engaging gear; this sometimes works. dangerous and distracting to other motorists, as it appears to them like my vehicle is flashing its highbeams. *tr
Brake lights seem to be overheating. bulb melts off the contact piece. interior of housing unit is melting as well. i have replaced the bulbs at least 2-3 times a year. the only thing i haven't done yet is replace the housing unit. *tr
Headlights diming while driving. *tr
I bought a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer about 2 years ago, it only had 49,000 miles on it when i bought it. the right taillight is not working, it hasn't worked since about a month after i bought it. i have fixed the problem twice and it just needs tearing up. i feel this is a great safety hazard and could cause a lot of deaths because a person can not tell if your slowing down and cause a wreck. i feel like chevrolet needs to recall this problem. i have noticed that mine isn't the only one that is tore up around my small town of 17,000 people. i have noticed at least 5 more just in this town that are not working properly either. *tr
Between the speeds of 35 mph and 60mph the headlights flicker when you let the car return to an idle. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving 50 mph, the contact heard a loud banging noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. she pulled the vehicle over and noticed that the plastic covering detached on the brake light, which was located on the rear liftgate. the contact was able to safely place the piece back on, but the wires were exposed. the piece is not safely in place because it is being held together by duct tape. the vehicle has not been repaired. the dealer stated that the failure would not be covered under warranty. the manufacturer would not provide compensation because the failure was not covered under warranty. the failure mileage was 31,000 and current mileage was 33,500.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the vehicle headlights failed. the headlight low and high beam failed to illuminate. the failure occurred intermittently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who decided to replace the vehicle body module, the thermostat and the battery. the remedy failed to repair the problem. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 83,000.
The brake lights on my 2005 trailblazer keep going out. i have replaced the bulbs 3 times in a 3 month period. the malfunction has nearly caused an accident. *tr
The speedometer sticks at various speeds. sometimes it shows *below* zero when i'm moving. last night, i was traveling at approx. 65-70mph, i assume, but the speedometer was stuck at 30. when decelerating, the speedometer will stick at certain speeds, and then jerk down suddenly. my trailblazer only has about 53,000 miles on it. i have seen reports of this issue beginning at 30k, but most kick in at around 50k. i am calling the shop today. from what i've read, it's related to a faulty stepper motor. if i am able to update this report, i will. however, i think this is very unsafe and am not going to wait to report it until after the repair; i've seen at least 40 (i stopped counting) other complaints about a malfunctioning speedometer in 05 trailblazers on aboutautomobile.com (i also have issues with dimming lights and headlights flashing at night). *tr
Massive electrical problems with chevy trailblazer 1. while going 10 miles an hour, the speedometer jumps to 120mph then to 50mph then to 120mph again. 2. when i fill up with gas, the gas gauge states that the tank is still empty then moves to full then to a 1/4 then to full then to half etc... 3. while driving at night, my headlights go highbeam to low beam as if i am manually flashing my lights at other cars. i have read on the internet where this is happening to many many people with this same model of chevrolet suv and that gm refuses to do anything about this. -i called gm and advised them of the entire issue. they advised me to go to a dealership and have them run a diagnostic as this was needed before they could help me. -i went to the dealer and paid $115 for the diagnostic, needless to say the repairs that the dealer found ranger over $3000.00 dollars. -i then called gm back and they took the information that the dealer gave me (donna at 1-866-790-5700 x21153) -i just got a call back from gm stating that because of the mileage on the suv that they were not going to do anything (they knew about the mileage before they sent me to the dealership!). so i wasted $115 dollars for something that was not needed by gm, and the fact that they knew about the mileage to start off with is a way to let the dealer make some money off the consumer. *tr
All lights headlights dash and dome flickering driving but not everytime. alt has been relocated 2 times still have same problem. *tr
My headlights and dash lights flicker while driving. also while driving my lights will dim and the blower for heat & a/c will slow and then pick up to normal speed again. it also revs by itself, even in park and will go forward slightly when it does surge. these problems only started after the alternator was replaced. i think it is a safety hazard to have lights flickering and engine surges. *tr
Head lights dim and brighten while driving. with no reason the lights get very dim and a second later the lights brighten and this cycles over and over. this is very unsafe. other drivers think i want then to stop or slow down or pull over. *tr
The third brake light on my 2005 chevy trailblazer works yet the other two brake lights do not. the bulbs have been replaced and that is not the issue. also, the headlights flicker to high beam at night for no reason. no one seems to know the issue. *tr
I have an 2005 chevy trailblazer that the lights constantly are flashing. they dim and then come very bright again non-stop. this can not be safe because for several instances they are so dim that you can't see in the dark. i have had the vehicle in several times when it was under warranty and gm said it was normal when the fan kicks on. well it is not normal or is it safe. i can not manually flick the lights as fast as they flicker when i am driving down the road. it is very unsafe and gm needs to find a fix for it. *tr
Headlights and dashlights flicker erratically that it almost looks like you are flashing your lights at oncoming motorists. have had it to the dealer more that six times for this without resolve. the dealer says it is normal, and they don't care if we get killed. *tr
Turned vehicle on and found a/c blower not working and abs and brake light come on. blower will come on intermittently when the bas / brake light goes out. i am concerned that if there is a short in the system there could be a fire. chevrolet should be taking care of this concern for the owners. *tr
Speedometer on my trailblazer showed a wildly inaccurate speed reading. this reading was very low and could have resulted in a speeding/ safety situation. the speedometer could give a false reading allowing the driver to enter a curve or city at an unsafe speed. at a stoplight the needle pointed straight down instead of zero. i contacted gm who informed me that there are not enough complaints on this specific model to warrant a recall. as i understand it the components causing the failure in the models being recalled are the same as those in trailblazers. my vehicle also has the dimming/flickering lights at night. gm has a technical bulletin out that says this is normal. there has to be a reason for these issues. i don't call losing lights at night normal. nor do i have confidence that the lights will not fail completely. *tr
I own a 2005 chevy trailbazer. the dash and headlights flicker and dim while night driving no one can find the problem. *tr
I own a 2005 trailblazer lt witch i purchased new in july 2005. i too have experienced the problem of flickering headlights and dash lights. i have taken the vehicle to the selling dealer several times with the problem, the last time in may 2008. the dealer has never been able to duplicate the problem, however, the last time i was there they did produce a gm document (#2046572) that did admit there is a problem. the document states "at this time, there are no repairs for this concern. engineering is revisiting this concern." i also consider this to be a serious safety issue. *tr
Head lamp diming *cn
While driving down the road at night, the lights seem to dim and brighten. if you look at the voltage gauge, it is fluctuating also.*cn
Lights dim and brighten at night with corresponding drops in voltage on my wife's 2005 chevrolet trailblazer lt. looks like i am dimming my lights, have noticed responses from other motorists. several trailblazer owners are reporting this problem. *tr
Headlights blink, dim and brighten have done this since new .engine light flashes intermittently has never given a code. dash lights also dim. has been to dealer several times. no help. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. while the vehicle is being driven or idling, the electrical system shuts down. the failure occurred at night when shutting off the headlights and the instrument panel; however, the engine does not shut off, only the electrical system. the failure has occurred on six occasions. speed was not a factor. the dealer replaced one of the circuit panels, but the electrical system continues to fail. the contact stated that the dealer was giving them the run around after extending the electrical system warranty to 100,000 miles. she also stated that there has been electrical failure since the vehicle was purchased. the purchase date was unknown. the current mileage was 50,000 and failure mileage was 5,000. the consumer stated the problem still exists. updated 12/04/07 *tr
