Takata recall i have a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer and my suv was parked in the yard and i went to go to the store and opened my door and found the truck was full of smoke! my driver seat had caught on fire just sitting there. not even cranked! it destroyed the seat and the top of the suv and the roof melted all over the truck.
When driving our vehicle from myrtle beach this week we noticed a smell about half way home that reeked of rotten eggs. the smell was so bad that i because nauseous and develooed a severe headache. after we reached our house and shut off the vehicle the next day i tried to crank the vehicle and it would not crank so after researching the smell and possible causes we bought a new battery for the vehicle and changed the battery ourselves which caused my husband to develop a severe cough and upper respitory problems due to the boiling that was occuring inside the battery. hence the smell of rotten eggs.
The speedometer keeps malfunctioning. the speedometer needle sticks at a higher speed after decelerating or stopping, making it impossible to know what speed you are driving. this happens mostly when the weather warms up, spring/summer/fall. making a hard braking stop, like at an intersection, will sometimes cause the needle to drop back 5-10 mph, as will turning the car off and back on. most specifically, yesterday, may 31, 2019, the speedometer needle wouldn't go back down at all, and my speedometer was "pegged" past the top end of 110mph. i have researched online, and this seems to be a common and chronic issue with this model.
Headlights cutting out (completely off) at night while driving vehicle in a normal fashion and during good weather conditions with all interior lights off except gauges in dash display. no secondary lights or electronics on and on a dark road with very limited street lighting and while driving at 45mph. able to regain lights by turning switch through full range a couple of times and putting on manual mode. light sensor on dash is unobstructed.
Drivers side power locks and window controls only work intermittently. back window windshield wiper turns off and on intermittantly
Fuel gauge consistently showed "empty" and external lights were always very dim. lack of awareness of fuel status led to breakdown on heavily trafficked road and dim hazard lights contributed to poor visibility and a fatal accident.
Tl* the contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer. when the vehicle was started, the instrument panel gauges operated intermittently. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the ignition switch and instrument cluster failed. the manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.
The speedometer isn't working. i've been hearing how common this issue is. every now and then it will jump to a random spot when i start the vehicle and stay there. but it never moves while driving
