How to Replace a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Brake Light Bulb

How to Replace a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Brake Light Bulb

Hello petrol heads, this is your guide on how to effortlessly replace the tail light bulbs on a Chevrolet Silverado, and while we’re not talking about a Ferrari, this trusty vehicle deserves some attention too.

Initiate the Operation

Kickstart this mission by opening the tailgate of your robust Silverado. Uncover two screws that are keeping the tail light a prisoner. A T15 socket coupled with a ratchet will be your weapon of choice here. Lower one out, and you’re halfway through freeing the tail light.

Unshackling the Tail Light

With a firm grip and a spirit that screams, “power!”, pull the tail light forward. Discover two pins at the back – they’re the guardians of the light, holding it in place. But with a yank and a pull, it's free, just like that!

Spotlight on Bulbs

Amidst the applause and roaring engines in your head, you will spot two bulbs – they are the maestros of brake light, running light, and turn signals. Another one hiding there is the reverse light bulb.

Twist and Shout – Replacing the Bulbs

Grab the light socket, give it a twist to the left, and slide the bulb out. Here, you can pull the bulbs out of the socket as if you’re shifting gears on a straight road. The bulb you're handling is a seven-four-four-four. Slide this little fellow back into the socket. For the other one, a twist to the left, a slide out, grab, and slide straight out. This one’s a 921. Turn the bulb, slide it into the socket, and gear it up with a twist.

The Final Lap

The procedure for the third bulb is a rerun of the top one. Align those pins, press them in, and bring in those two screws. Your trusty T15 and ratchet are back in action, tightening things up nice and snug.

Victory Lap

And there you have it! You've successfully replaced the brake light bulb on your 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD. Now, don’t forget to give the other side the same royal treatment.
