Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Vehicle was being operated on a paved road when the rear window defroster was turned on to clear snow on the outside. several moments later i heard a hissing sound coming from the rear interior of the pickup cab and then looked into the rear view mirror, at which time i saw smoke emitting form the lower corner of the passenger side fixed window pane (this is 3 piece rear window where the middle pan opens via electrical switch). the hissing continued with the smoke that was coming from the lower corner of the window nearest to the central window panel. i immediately recognized the odor of an electrical fire (burning insulation) and then turned off the rear window defroster switch. the hissing sound and smoke ceased. a few seconds later 8 heard a loud 'pop' sound come from the back window and observed that the entire rear passenger side window had shattered, in place with the fracture line emanating outward from he area where the smoke was first observed.

Upon turning the vehicle on there were no alerts like seat belt warnings, door open, hands free calling, onstar. also when shutting vehicle off no alarm to indicate keys are in the ignition. cannot hear if blinker is on. nothing comes through the radio. this happens on an intermittent basis. approximately every several months. sometimes it will start the sheets if i shut the vehicle off then start it back up. today it didn't do that. at this time my truck has approximately 80,000 miles. also on occasion the service electric breaks have indicated an issue as well.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, a smell of plastic burning started. smoke emerged from the bus bar located at the bottom of the sliding rear window. the smoke stopped when the vehicle was turned off. the vehicle was driven to the dealer century chevrolet, 6105 west 120th avenue, broomfield, co 80020, they determined that the rear window defroster failed and needed replacement. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 80,914.

While in motion, especially in slow turns, the vehicle completely shuts down. power steering goes and battery completely drained. when problem is occurring dashboard lights are affected. dashboard lights light up and go blank. truck will not start unless jumpstarted. this has happened multiple times since summer of 2019. contacted banks chevrolet and concord new hampshire and they said they are not aware of any known problems. contacted banks chevrolet in concord new hampshire and they said they are not aware of any known problems, although recalls for this same issue are present in other 2015 chevrolet silverados.

At low speeds of 15mph or less, when brakes are applied, the vehicles brake assist stops working and the electric to the car flashes off. if speeds are low enough and you apply brakes while turning right at a light or stop sign, the vehicle will shutoff and steering wheel locks. this is a huge safety issue and poor design.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving at any speed, the power lock on the front passenger door did not lock automatically. there was no warning indicator illuminated. the contact called serra chevrolet at 330-644-7500 (located at 3281 s arlington rd, akron, oh 44312) and was informed that there was no recall. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 41,000. *bf *tr

Headlights flickering when on. while in motion my stabilitrack light illuminates along with the seatbelt light. when using the turn signal the radio display goes out for about a second and turns back on. when braking the radio display goes off for a second. i get a low battery signal maybe 2 or 3 times a week, i drive my truck daily. it has 76k miles. i lose power steering after about 150 mile drive. its been happening for about 3-4 months. 4/22/2019 was the worst. all of it happened yesterday on a 175 mile drive

While driving slow and making a hard left turn everything flashes off 0n dash ,then on, on dash, but engine shuts off causing steering and braking safety concerns, this has happened three times in last two week took it to dealership they couldn't

I have a 2015 chevy 1500. it is my daily driver,(in alabama) so when my ac stopped working i figured it needed recharged as i do use it quite often. recharged it and it worked for 2 days. then out again. so i recharged it and used the dye to see where the leak was located. can not see where a leak is anywhere. my truck is just out of warranty. there are 1000's of complaints, why is nothing done? i understand that ac is not a necessity to some but with a 7 yo that has asthma, living in alabama it becomes a necessity. oh, fyi when your air not working neither does your defog. when driving home at night its so bad you cant see out of the window. i have almost wrecked 4 times bc of it. i did hit a dog bc i couldnt see it..... and to think all the 1000's of people having the exact same problem bc of a flawed design. you may want to take note before paying a lawsuit bc someone lost their life bc of something simple and known.

I was driving my 2015 silverado 1500 when my daughter in the backseat noticed that's something smell like it was burning, she told me and within 10 seconds i could smell the same thing and it smelled like electrical was burning. i could see smoke coming from behind her headrest so i pulled off the road immediately and got her out of the back seat and could see it was coming from either the slide window or the defroster so i jumped in the front seat and seen the rear defroster was on and shut that off and almost immediately following me shutting that off it sounded like a gunshot went off in my back seat and the rear driver side window exploded the only thing holding it together was the factory window tint. there is all kind of glass shards in the backseat from when it shattered. i had to have my wife pick up my daughter because she is too young to sit in the front seat. so i have to put tape over the window to hold it together until the dealership contacts me back.

Takada recall. while traveling approx 70 mph appling brakes or turn signal information screen momentarily flashes blank, enine hesitates and seat belt warning sounds

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that they used the remote starter to start the vehicle from inside the house. after a few minutes, the contact noticed a little smoke coming from the rear sliding glass window. the contact walked out to the vehicle to investigate the origin of the smoke and noticed that the glass from the rear window was glowing a cherry red color. the contact immediately turned off the engine and exited the vehicle right before the rear window glass shattered. the dealer (elm chevrolet, 301 e church st, elmira, ny 14901) stated that the vehicle was not covered by a warranty. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure was due to wiring short circuit. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 40,000. *tr

Gm has recall 14315 for my year make and style of vehicle. they tell me that my vin is not listed for this recall. my vehicle has the problems listed in this recall. all sounds do not work including the seat beat reminder, the door open reminder and all vehicle sounds from the speakers. gm will not repair it as my vin does not come up in there system for this recall. how can my vin be included for this serious safety issue.

When driving on a city street at about approximately 30mph , all electrical systems suddenly died and vehicle shut down. coasted to a stop without power brakes or steering control, almost causing an accident. turned off and on ignition and computer system had me "turn on and off driver window'. also reference a few other electrical systems errors that cleared after once again starting vehicle. during the resulting 20 minute drive home, electrical system showed a few errors, once when initiating a turn signal and headlights flickered but car did not suddenly die. next day it is now running okay so far. researching this sudden electrical and total system shutdown online i found numerous issues with 2014/2015 silverado models from others. discussed with local dealership service department and found they have seen other customers locally with this intermittent issue and have been unable to find or fix the problem.

I was on a city road driving at 45 mph about 5 minutes after i used the factory remote start. smoke started pouring from behind the rear seat and then one of the back windows shattered. this is a widely reported issue and there should be a recall for it.

I brought my vehicle to the dealership that i bought my vehicle from after it showed what i believed to be signs of the electronic power steering (eps) recall affecting it. the dealership applied the fix that gm had and sent me on my way. the very next day i experienced what i believed to be the electronic power steering system acting up again. this time i was traveling at 55 m.p.h. on the highway beginning the interchange to another highway and could not turn the steering wheel for approximately 2 seconds. the loss of steering was almost as soon as i started the turn and almost caused me to go off of the highway. then for the next 5-7 seconds i was able to manually turn the steering wheel without power steering. all of a sudden the power steering turned back on and, because of how hard i was trying to turn the wheel, i almost ended up in the lane to my right where another vehicle was. i had no prior issues like this until the recall was worked at the dealership. almost immediately after leaving the dealership the truck was acting weird, and at a stop the truck felt as if it was struggling to stay running. the dealership was contacted and agreed to have it towed back to them two days later. now they are telling me it is due to bad battery cables and that caused power loss during the turn. they spent hours scanning the system to find that this actually happened, which they claim they could not find, but there was a warning light that showed on the dash notifying me that the power steering was out and to drive with care, so i do not understand how they did not find it during their scan. they then tell me there is a service bulletin, that came out a month after the eps recall did, and it will be an out of pocket expense. i cannot stop thinking that this issue is a direct result of the eps software fix and should be included to the recall to replace the battery cables.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet silverado 1500 equipped with goodyear wrangler tires, size: c265/65r18, and dot: 4axpjh1r1215. while driving various speeds, the steering failed and the contact heard a loud, abnormal noise under the hood. the failure occurred intermittently. the contact had the battery replaced twice. the contact stated that the battery needed to be replaced again. in addition, all four tires contained bubbles. the tires and battery had not been replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. preston hood chevrolet (212 hollywood blvd nw, fort walton beach, fl 32548, (850) 610-7278) diagnosed and repaired the vehicle. the repairs were unknown. the vehicle failure mileage was 46,000 the tire failure mileage was unknown.

My truck was recalled i received a call from my dealer about the recall. i took my truck to decatur james woods chevrolet which performed a recall on the eps module for a steering recall. note prior to me taking my vehicle in i had no problems or issues. i take my truck in for documented oil changes and scheduled maintenance. once they did the recall flash update reprogramming i picked up my truck and on the way home the dash lights blinked off the stabilitrac error and tow haul error both came up. i called the service dept immediately on the way using hands free system and the service advisor told me the recall couldn't cause that. on the road to my house the steering wheel jerked out of my hands light sprain to my wrist and almost took me off the road as the brakes also failed to work very well. the truck died to a stop. when i restarted it showed no errors and all worked again. the next morning when started it displayed a calibration error and had me open and close my driver window. when driving to my dealership jerry's chevy it blinked the dash again when i used my blinker to change lanes. the power and rpm where all over the place and running very rough. when i got to jerry's they basically told me they couldn't touch it and take the liability and to take it back to decatur they had messed something up. next morning to to local mechanic we have used they put computer diagnostic on it and showed all kinds of errors as we test drove while hooked up. he said the recall program has evidently caused communication issues to other modules and can tear up the truck. i took it back to decatur they said they couldn't get to it and to come back the next day. i dropped it off truck still having issues and running and sounding worse and losing power and voltage gauge dropping and going back to normal. safety concern for myself and others on road due to this recall flash.

The ignition lock bound and stuck in the start position twice. other vehicles in the same year model had the same problem as per your campaign# 15v640000 or your recall #n182156820. gm's recall is 15573. gm informed me that my vehicle was not in the recall group even though i have the exact problem. the vehicle was parked

While slowing down to make a turn, usually always using turn signal, my truck will completely shut down in the middle of the intersection with no warning. the engine shuts down and all electrical is lost. luckily i haven't been hit by another vehicle while trying to restart my truck in the middle of the intersection had to jump out car so i wasn't in side if hit finally cars stop honking i jumped back in and started up again i was scared had my children with me

The forward passenger side door actuator went out causing my door to be unable to be locked or unlocked by key, or unlock switch on door. it's now costing me $215 to get fixed. and i've seen many other vehicles having this problem. it's unsafe it will not lock during driving and can't lock it in public areas.

Air conditioning not working. blowing hot due to worn hole in hose (thousands of known issues all with exactly the same symptoms and fixes... e x a c t l y!!!!!!) called chev, the guy said nhtsa tells them what to pay for and what to recall so they're hands are clean of this issue. pardon????? worn hole? check bad condenser? check no bracket? check dealership/manufacturer participation? no way in hell! this is absolutely terrible business and there's no way the attorney general, the better business bureau and anyone else i can call are not going to hear about this. oh yeah, the a/c never gets used, otherwise i would've had it fixed 20k miles ago under warranty but i didn't know it wasn't working. there's residue on the hoses from the leak which the dealership should've caught but they didn't. maybe i go that route?

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving 25 mph, the steering wheel jerked and the vehicle turned off. the vehicle was restarted after several attempts, but the power steering failed to operate and the power steering warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (star chevrolet, 1628 s azalea dr, wiggins, ms 39577, (678) 369-6037) for diagnostic testing and repairs. the dealer also informed the contact that there were no recalls in regards to the failure; therefore, the contact would be responsible for the repair fees. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 73,038.

Loss of power steering mostly at low speed. truck loses power or shuts off completely. also several times i have had no power upon start then after sitting for a few minutes it will be ok. loss of power while driving when i switched to bright lights. also drivers info center goes black

Rear power locking actuator fails to operate causing automatic lock on door to become able to open with child safety lock engaged. vehicle only has 40000 miles currently. numerous complaints have been about rear power lock actuators failing on 2014 - 2018 chevrolet silverado.

Air conditioning on my 2015 chevrolet silverado is only blowing warm air.

During normal driving 'service stabilitrak' notification pops up and causes all of dash and radio to flicker. it goes away and flashes again consistently. eventually dash and radio went dark as if vehicle was shut off. driving on highway the ac was on. was in stop and go traffic

2015 chevrolet silverado 5.3l 4x4 (48,000 miles). while driving last night i was u-turning at a major intersection when the truck lost all power, then flashed "stabilitrak" on the dash, and jerked the steering wheel out of my hand. should there have been someone coming the other direction there surly would have a major head on collision. i pulled into a parking lot after re-firing the truck and tried some low speed sharp turns and sure enough the same issue. flickering power, "stabilitrak" flashing on dash, and steering wheel jerked out of my hand. when i say steering jerked its not as if i just lost power steering, the wheel will actually jerk as if its trying to get back to center on its own. i left the truck over night and went back this morning to have someone follow me home. this is a major safety issue. there is no issued recall for my vin. i've found hundreds of stories and videos on the internet very similar to mine for this same issue. there are some recalls for other model years that sound like they are aimed at the problem but not for my model/year and everyone i've found that has had the recalls for steering and voltage issues says that the problem continues. its terrifying thinking that im driving a 6,000lbs mass that can shut off and steer itself out of no where. ridiculous that this has not been resolved or even acknowledged by gm!

While parked over night in the garage the sabilitrak light was on and service trailer system. truck wouldn't start so i jump stared he truck. that worked twice though out the day and on my last drive while i was reversing the steering wheel was pulled from my hand and the 'stabilitrak' light came on! finally while parked before my truck engine wouldn't turn over the 'stabilitrak' light came on again and 'service trailer system' i've never used my trailer system. my truck wouldn't even turn over 'crank'. i had to tow my truck home and i'm just happy that the steering wheel wasn't pulled from my hand with my two kids with me in the road!

The stabilitrak notification appears and the steering wheel moves on it's own to the straight position. it has happened while backing up more than once. also, the stereo screen has blacked out and the vehicles power cut out on my wife while she was driving on the interstate.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that the check engine warning indicator had been illuminated for approximately one month. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (john jones chevrolet in corydon, indiana) where it was diagnosed that a rodent damaged the wires above the fuel tank, which needed replacement. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 27,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet silverado 1500. while operating the vehicle, the instrument panel lighting suddenly became very dim. the driver was unable to read the instrument panel gauges. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (public service gmc in marquette, mi) and was examined by the manufacturer's engineers. the engineers determined that the vehicle was operating normally and no repairs were performed to correct the issue. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 200.

One morning when i was driving my 2015 chevy silverado, i noticed a message on the dash board screen which read "right rear tail light signal failure. i went to the nearest auto parts store and purchased replacement bulbs and noticed that the bulbs weren't the problem. i also checked the fuses and did not find any blown fuses which again wasn't the problem. however the right rear tail light will turn on if the lights are on but will not blink when the signal light is on or if the brakes are engaged. later that night i realized that none of the interior lights worked either; weather the light is in the door position or the on position. i'm not really sure what the problem is but with this truck being so new with less than 45000 miles, these problems shouldn't be happening.

While using a spare key to my 2015 silverado for the entire day, and driving over 70 miles, the "anti-theft" warning light suddenly came on. i continued to drive approx. 10 miles with the light on and while turning off a busy road, across on-coming traffic, the truck completely shut off. no steering, no forward movement, nothing. it virtually went dead! i was able to put the truck in park and try to start it again (thank goodness no traffic coming through at the time). after several attempts it started again and i began to drive around the corner to my home, where it completely shut off again, in front of my driveway. had it towed, as i was nervous about driving it again. the chevy dealership service department was unable to conclude what happened. they tested it with the spare key, and still no sign of any trouble. i am reluctant to drive this truck.

I'm having issues with my chevy silverado dying out while driving when i'm making turns that will cause the truck to have error messages popping up with regards to the stable trac sensor, the airbag light coming on, the radio going in and out, and the ac going out/coming back on. while backing up the truck is locking up on me, and the steering wheel is jerking out of my hands, which will dye out as well. when i go to start it back up the truck then gives me an error message of roll down the drivers side window that you have to do in order to clear it out. i've currently had this at the chevy dealership the past 6 months without them being able to fix this numerous times.

The wiring harness for the rear passenger tail lights has corroded. point of corrosion is the "cup or socket" that the tail light bulb is inserted into. corrosion failure occurred at 28 months of ownership of the new vehicle. socket did not have any type of corrosion preventing dielectric grease present as i have typically seen in tail light connections.unfortunately, since the vehicle was at 40,000 miles it was considered out of warranty and all expense for repair of defective manufacturing. dealership also recommended the replacement of a socket with field soldiering rather than replacement of the entire wire harness which seems like a solution to create more corrosion issues. corrosion caused the loss of tail lights on the rear passenger side of the vehicle which could have resulted in an accident due to lack of warning/indication from vehicles behind.

Ac not cooling ac not cooling ac condenser ac condenser is leaking at seam.

The truck shakes at speeds of from 35 mph, then it stops and when driving on the highway at speeds between 60 and 70 on the thruway it shakes again. the vibration is transferred through the gas pedel and into the seats and console. also when brakeing it shakes. its been in for service several times for this since i bought it. also the voltage meter drops and i lose dash board lights.this happens while the vehicle was in motion on both city and highway driving. i'm tired of loseing valuable days off to drive up to denooyer chevy in albany to have them look at this again. the truck travels straight and true but shakes at those speeds, sometime it makes a drowning sound as it happens.its in the front end part of the suspension i believe. the tires were all high speed balanced and air is perfect in all 4 tires. has anyone experienced this?

It began with the headlights/parking lights flickering for a few weeks. later the truck began to give error messages about stability control, trailer brake control, and others. finally it violently jerked the steering wheel out of my hands on numerous occasions (truck has electric power steering). this happened at approximately 45 mph in various turns but i am concerned it could happen at highway speeds which would cause a serious crash and/or death. i am afraid to drive this vehicle especially with my family members on board.

All audio stops working. the radio is on and the digital info is changing with the station. but there is no audio.. all the warning sounds and the directional sound are not present. a few times i was able to shut the truck off and restart it and that would fix the issue.. but now that doesn't even work. i do notice that it happens more often when the weather is very cold..

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that the vehicle independently started and caught fire under the hood. the fire extinguished itself. a fire report was filed. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where the cause of the failure could not be determined. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown. updated 05/10/17*lj the contact has stated that the fuse box and starter motor shorted.*as

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving various speeds, the front end of the vehcle jerked forward severely. in addition, the check engine indicator illuminated without warning. the contact stated that the four-wheel drive would not disengage, which caused the vehicle to pull to the left and the right. furthermore, the vehicle stalled without warning while driving various speeds on more than one occasion. lastly, the mileage on the vehicle independently changed from 27,000 to 60,000 from march of 2017 until the present date. the vehicle was taken to be diagnosed at mcgrath chevrolet in cedar rapids, iowa where it was determind that the entire wiring harness in the vehicle was faulty. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 27,000.

This weekend my truck started acting weird. on saturday there is a very intermittent zap or click noise that would come through the speakers. almost like there is a short somewhere. when this happens and i am turning the steering wheel tries to pull back midline for about a second or two then goes back to where it was previously turned to. when i started the truck up on sunday i had to re-enter the time in the radio but all stations were still programed into it. i noticed when the headlights are on and it makes that noise the headlights flicker a little bit. on the way into work this morning that noise was not there but during a turn on the interstate the steering wheel tried three or four times to return to midline during the turn. it happens so fast that is is finished just about the time you can react to it.

Three times at dealer for water leaking on passenger floor, just went over my three year bumper to bumper warranty, after third attempt,i dont know how much damage to eletrical system, leaks when washing or raining.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving at low speeds and making a left turn, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the electrical harness was faulty and needed replacement. the vehicle was repaired. approximately one month later, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. the diagnosis and repairs were unknown. the failure recurred the next month and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a fuel sensor failure. the vehicle was not repaired again. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

So many problems with it. chevy went from offering to lemon law it out to sitting back waiting on an intel to finish killing me. they sabotaged truck or its a horrible problem. air bags did not deploy at 45 mpg fron tend collission. i could have died. they dont care. 1 year later, no one came to look at it. they delay me day ater day

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving approximately 45 mph and attempting to merge to the right lane, the contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle. the air bags did not deploy. there was no warning indicator illuminated. a police report was filed. the contact sustained a minor injury that did not require medical attention. the contact's vehicle sustained front end damage and was towed. the body damage was repaired. the contact was not sure if the manufacturer was notified. after the repairs, while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle shook and did not drive in a straight line on the road. the contact also stated that the steering wheel and the seat belts shocked him when the vehicle was started. the contact also stated that the passenger side air bag was exposed and the air bag showed burn marks around the edges. the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer who stated that there was no failure with the vehicle. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving various speeds, the vehicle lost power. when the vehicle was started, the warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that there was a communication error in the electrical system. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 23,000.

I was in an accident driving slow. couldn't control the steering. would only go straight. air bag did not engage and seat belt did not work. lights go dim and flash. radio display not working correct. but main concern is inside lights go dim or flash.on city streets driving slow.

So due to known issues with the yolk on the differential, the lag in the transmission shift and engine communication leads to extreme vibration at highway speeds and clunking and jerking while driving around town. so when the transmission shifts there is a delay in the motor recognizing it so it revs up some so when the transmission finally finds the gear it causes it to kick. and since the yolk has play in it, it causes the differential to clunk as the rotation of the driveshaft catches up at a quicker rate. which leads to more looseness in the yoke and creates a wobble in the driveshaft. and an unsettling sound while driving around.
