Apparently my truck already had the steering recall preformed, but i'm having the same issue still. the power steering stopped twice while driving, almost causing us to hit another vehicle. the lights will also dim almost to off while turning the steering wheel while stationary, also power steering will quick momentarily while doing this also. what do you suggest i do?
While in motion, especially in slow turns, the vehicle completely shuts down. power steering goes and battery completely drained. when problem is occurring dashboard lights are affected. dashboard lights light up and go blank. truck will not start unless jumpstarted. this has happened multiple times since summer of 2019. contacted banks chevrolet and concord new hampshire and they said they are not aware of any known problems. contacted banks chevrolet in concord new hampshire and they said they are not aware of any known problems, although recalls for this same issue are present in other 2015 chevrolet silverados.

Lose power steering and low speeds when turning and steering wheel becomes very difficult to turn
At low speeds of 15mph or less, when brakes are applied, the vehicles brake assist stops working and the electric to the car flashes off. if speeds are low enough and you apply brakes while turning right at a light or stop sign, the vehicle will shutoff and steering wheel locks. this is a huge safety issue and poor design.
Trucks shakes and vibrates at speeds over 65mph. shakes are so bad it feels as though the wheels are coming loose. tired have been rebalanced. replaced. new rims. no solution.

While driving slow and making a hard left turn everything flashes off 0n dash ,then on, on dash, but engine shuts off causing steering and braking safety concerns, this has happened three times in last two week took it to dealership they couldn't
I was driving slowed down to turn right onto my street ioss total control of my truck ended up on the side walk on the opposite side of road as i was not able to control my truck, my truck shut down completely while in drive, mydashboard started to display stabilitrack disabled, steering assistant reduced, two key programmed, open and close driver door. this is not the first time this has happened but the first time to this extreme that is why we had took our truck to vandergriff chevrolet in arlington tx on 2/16/19 were they took care of the open recall and did a software reset for loss of steering assist c18289 and power steering control module but even after software reset i'm still having the same issue i'm taking my vehicle in again to be serviced as i find this loss of steering very dangerous thankfully no one was on that side walk that could've been seriously hurt. the other two times this happened prior to yesterday was when we were in a drive thru and we were turning to order food and once turning into my sons school again vehicle shut down completely while in drive all the warnings lights displaying.
When slowing down to park, i lost braking and could not stop the truck. i had to put the truck in park to stop the momentum. this happened going in reverse. when taken to dealer i was charged $470.96 for parts and labor at n the vacuum pump which provides power for braking and steering.
The rack and pinion has gone out on my 2015 chevy 1500. loud creaking noises can be heard from turning the wheel side to side. for a truck to be 4 years and with 40k miles and this to go bad is a real quality issue. online i have found numerous reports of this issue

As my wife came to a complete stop at a stoplight and as the light turned green, she pressed the gas pedal and the truck would not accerlate. she pressed the gas pedal down to the floor board and still would not accerlate. so due to this the truck slowly rolled foward. she slammed on the brakes and the brakes would not move. like if they became locked and wouldn't move an inch. at this point she is trying to get off the road to the shoulder, to avoid oncoming traffic. then she finds that the steering wheel is also locked and can not be turned. it's taking her maximum effort to stop the truck from rolling forward and to veer off the road to avoid other vehicles. she is finally able to stop the vehicle after about 100 yards of effort and waits about 10 minutes, before the brakes and steering wheel would free up. no error message was present the entire time these functions were disabled and after they freed up, it was like if nothing ever happened. no check engine light has ever been on this vehicle. strong belief this is a manufacturing defect and should have a recall.
I brought my vehicle to the dealership that i bought my vehicle from after it showed what i believed to be signs of the electronic power steering (eps) recall affecting it. the dealership applied the fix that gm had and sent me on my way. the very next day i experienced what i believed to be the electronic power steering system acting up again. this time i was traveling at 55 m.p.h. on the highway beginning the interchange to another highway and could not turn the steering wheel for approximately 2 seconds. the loss of steering was almost as soon as i started the turn and almost caused me to go off of the highway. then for the next 5-7 seconds i was able to manually turn the steering wheel without power steering. all of a sudden the power steering turned back on and, because of how hard i was trying to turn the wheel, i almost ended up in the lane to my right where another vehicle was. i had no prior issues like this until the recall was worked at the dealership. almost immediately after leaving the dealership the truck was acting weird, and at a stop the truck felt as if it was struggling to stay running. the dealership was contacted and agreed to have it towed back to them two days later. now they are telling me it is due to bad battery cables and that caused power loss during the turn. they spent hours scanning the system to find that this actually happened, which they claim they could not find, but there was a warning light that showed on the dash notifying me that the power steering was out and to drive with care, so i do not understand how they did not find it during their scan. they then tell me there is a service bulletin, that came out a month after the eps recall did, and it will be an out of pocket expense. i cannot stop thinking that this issue is a direct result of the eps software fix and should be included to the recall to replace the battery cables.

Complete loss of power steering. i was leaving my local bank and the service power steering light came on and i lost all power steering and it had not returned. i did some online searching and found there was a recall but the symptoms were loss and immediate return of power steering but thought maybe mine was also associated. i took my truck to lynn smith chevrolet in burleson tx and was told the power steering control module was bad and the entire steering rack needed to be replaced which is $3,000 out of my pocket. my truck is a 2015 with 53,xxx miles it had never acted strange or given me any problems until that one incident. i was extremely lucky to have a break in traffic as it caused me to occupy all three lanes with my 10 year old daughter in the truck.
My truck was recalled i received a call from my dealer about the recall. i took my truck to decatur james woods chevrolet which performed a recall on the eps module for a steering recall. note prior to me taking my vehicle in i had no problems or issues. i take my truck in for documented oil changes and scheduled maintenance. once they did the recall flash update reprogramming i picked up my truck and on the way home the dash lights blinked off the stabilitrac error and tow haul error both came up. i called the service dept immediately on the way using hands free system and the service advisor told me the recall couldn't cause that. on the road to my house the steering wheel jerked out of my hands light sprain to my wrist and almost took me off the road as the brakes also failed to work very well. the truck died to a stop. when i restarted it showed no errors and all worked again. the next morning when started it displayed a calibration error and had me open and close my driver window. when driving to my dealership jerry's chevy it blinked the dash again when i used my blinker to change lanes. the power and rpm where all over the place and running very rough. when i got to jerry's they basically told me they couldn't touch it and take the liability and to take it back to decatur they had messed something up. next morning to to local mechanic we have used they put computer diagnostic on it and showed all kinds of errors as we test drove while hooked up. he said the recall program has evidently caused communication issues to other modules and can tear up the truck. i took it back to decatur they said they couldn't get to it and to come back the next day. i dropped it off truck still having issues and running and sounding worse and losing power and voltage gauge dropping and going back to normal. safety concern for myself and others on road due to this recall flash.
Truck was serviced for power steering assist programming recall. ok for about two months. problem started again: power steering lost, low speed whobble & steering wheel shake. original problem was to replace power steering motor assist kit. i never got this original recall. i still have a serious steering problem. please help me solve this problem. ## vin passed ## chevy silverado ltz 2015 ##

At 32,744 miles and 42 months the steering wheel suddenly started rattling and shifted to 3:00. codes service stable track and assisted power steering appeared on the dash lights. took to dealer and was told there was failure on steering rack. truck has no modifications and required a new rack at a cost of $1295.69. 2014 trucks had a recall on this issue.
When my truck was under factory warranty it had a ratcheting clunking noise coming from the rack and pinion. the truck had 89000 on it and i called chevrolet filed a complaint. i was driving last summer and i lost my steering going down the road then i got it back. then i took it in for the software update recall. the chevrolet garage told me that the rack and pinion is not covered under factory warranty. now the truck has 109000 and the rack is binding worse. i did my research and found out their is alot of people with the same problem i'm having. these racks need to be recalled before someone gets hurt.
Power steering went out while driving on the road. approx 50,000 miles delearship states no current recalls on this vehicle however there was a large recall for same issue on 2014 silverado

Loss of power steering mostly at low speed. truck loses power or shuts off completely. also several times i have had no power upon start then after sitting for a few minutes it will be ok. loss of power while driving when i switched to bright lights. also drivers info center goes black
Drove in the rain and through a couple small puddles and the electronic power steering went out leave me with no power steering
The steering suddenly and without warning jerks back and forth violently when you are trying to turn. i've seen this issue reported on 2014's also. we were stopped when it first happened. the steering jerked as i tried to move forward and something about the "stabilitrak" briefly flashed on the dash. the traction control light came on. we turned the traction control off, but it turned itself back on and the issue happened again trying to back into my driveway.
Loss of power steering while driving , safety hazard! contacted gm and was told no recall on my specific vin # even though there is a recall on same year make & model vehicle. was told by gm to take vehicle to dealership & gm would try & assist in getting vehicle repaired. with it being a safety issue and same make & model as vehicle that has recall in place for the same part, i feel gm should repair the vehicles power steering motor at no cost to me.
My 2015 chevrolet silverado crewcab ld has a very dangerous steering issue. the problem is the steering system fully gives out making it impossible to turn the wheel and sometimes the wheels jerks back approximately 1/4 turn. gm has recalled trucks for this issue on all silverado models 2014/15 except the 2015 crew cab . this is a very dangerous issue . the truck only has 36,251 miles and is taken care of to the fullest per manufacturers guidelines . this is a very dangerous issue and it seems that gm has admitted it and recalled many vehicles outside the trucks as well for the same problem, hopefully they will do the right thing and make a recall for all affected models before someone gets seriously hurt.
Vehicle is making a grinding noise when turning steering wheel was advised by dealer it's a known gm issue while vehicle is stationary and also you can hear this noise while moving at a low rate of speed 15mph or under
2015 chevrolet silverado 5.3l 4x4 (48,000 miles). while driving last night i was u-turning at a major intersection when the truck lost all power, then flashed "stabilitrak" on the dash, and jerked the steering wheel out of my hand. should there have been someone coming the other direction there surly would have a major head on collision. i pulled into a parking lot after re-firing the truck and tried some low speed sharp turns and sure enough the same issue. flickering power, "stabilitrak" flashing on dash, and steering wheel jerked out of my hand. when i say steering jerked its not as if i just lost power steering, the wheel will actually jerk as if its trying to get back to center on its own. i left the truck over night and went back this morning to have someone follow me home. this is a major safety issue. there is no issued recall for my vin. i've found hundreds of stories and videos on the internet very similar to mine for this same issue. there are some recalls for other model years that sound like they are aimed at the problem but not for my model/year and everyone i've found that has had the recalls for steering and voltage issues says that the problem continues. its terrifying thinking that im driving a 6,000lbs mass that can shut off and steer itself out of no where. ridiculous that this has not been resolved or even acknowledged by gm!

I bought my truck brand new from chevrolet. no accidents, well maintained truck. i have gone thru 2 rack and pinions and my truck just hit 32k miles. 1st time i noticed popping noises coming when i turned the steering wheel. before i had a chance to take it to the service department the power steering completely went out. just a couple days ago i noticed the popping noise again. i took it to the dealer today before my power steering would fail. again the diagnosed it as the rack and pinion and is back in the shop.
The steering wheel has a popping noise every time i turn it. the 2nd thing is, i have lost power steering 8-10 times while turning into a parking spot. one time it stalled the engine and lost all power for 30-40 minutes and i had to unhook the battery cables to reset so it would crank. makes me feel real safe while going around a curve at 60 mph wondering if i'm going to lose power again.
When taking a long, rather sharp turn on the highway, the vehicle was resisting against the turn making it difficult to maneuver the vehicle. at the same time, the brakes began to initiate when the pedal was stepped, but immediately became very hard and could barely slow or stop the vehicle. almost hit the vehicle in front due to the delay and difficulty in braking.
