After driving through a car was, the electric power steering failed while driving. i tried to turn and was unable to turn the steering wheel consequently i hit a pedestrian who was standing in front of the car. no police report was filed.
While driving about 30 mph. turned the indicator and was going to turn right into a side street.. a warning appeared on my dash "power steering need service". lost power steering and was lucky to stop before the turning and not hit a car on the side street.
Vibration coming back through steering wheel at speeds in excess of 60 mph. did research on internet and see many customers are experiencing same issue with no gm resolution and gm apparently trying to say it is normal. had tires and wheels forced balanced 7/29/2016 which did not resolve issue. gm is aware of the complaint on my vehicle; ref: claim 8-2177021918.
When the below messages are received, steering the vehicle is extremely difficult, the steering wheel thrashes back and forth (when at slower speeds - i.e. attempting to park) and usually enters a "low power mode" where you can't accelerate, steer or about anything. in all cases, turning off the vehicle and restarting seems to return to normal until it happens again. 9/6/15: while making a turn, received a "stabilitrak off" and "power steering assist reduces drive with care" 9/8/15; received the above two messages plus "service 4wd" - 9/10/15 dealer replaced the transfer case actuator per tsb 9/14/15: received stabilitrak and pwr steering messages when attempting to park the truck -- dealer stated love voltage codes present, so they charged the batter and returned the truck to me. 9/16/15: had the steering wheel thrashing when backing into my driveway, but no messages 9/24/15: while on the highway (lucky traffic was slow) received the stabilitrak (twice) and pwr steering messages, so i exited to take side streets home. when making a left turn received the stabilitrak and pwr steering message, the low power mode and thrashing steering. this occurrence was in traffic and dangerous. currently at dealer, they state they are replacing both positive and negative cables and rerouted a wire that may have been rubbing the frame. note: there is a recall on the 2015 models for the electric power steering (eps) gm # 14743 -- same symptoms...

Eps electronic power steering message pops up when going from cold to hot temperatures or when raining and starts to warm up outside sometimes it will lock up under low speed turns in parking lots have had gm dealership look at it do the recall they say its something else that's causing it and i have to pay out of pocket to replace the power steering gear box estimate of $3,000 out of warranty and recall repair. have had the issue from 35,000 miles to currently 115,000 gm will not replace gear box under recall because they say the recall is only an update and it should fix the problem but it doesn't so they will not help me. in the picture provided you can see a bolt from manufacturer of vehicle rubbing on the eps sensor which i just noticed today and appears to be like that on other 14 models i have looked at after discovering the issue.
The vehicle ignition turned off while driving (vehicle in motion) causing the power steering to fail. this has happened three times in the past 3 weeks. gm does not list this model as part of its recall and when i contacted gm they recommended taking it to a dealer and having it repaired at my expense. *tr
While driving at highway speeds my truck lost it's power steering. an alert popped up to drive with caution service power steering. it took all the strength i had to keep my truck on the road as this incident occurred as i was approaching a curve in the road. there was no warning just instant loss of steering. i had my whole family with me. i am afraid to drive my vehicle now. i have read online in multiple forums that this has happened with quite a great frequency in 2014 silverados. *tr

Since about 15000-18000 miles this truck vibrates at most speeds, most noticeable at 65 mph and over. it is at the dealer for the second time. the first time all they did was balance the tires, but the problem didn't go away. the dealer is still scratching their heads on this. the loaner 2015 i have is worse and vibrates at all speeds.....

When driving truck on interstate i notice a vibration in the front steering and wheels once the truck goes over 65 miles per hour. this was doing it just after 1000 miles.. when the rotated tires when truck was serviced . the issue is still there
Prior to this incident my truck had 6 recalls. almost all of the recalls have been for ?software? issues. the latest problem is what i am writing to you about and i believe is an extremely dangerous situation and if it happens to someone who is not physically capable of handling it, it could easily be fatal to one or more individuals. what happened to me is as follows: the day before christmas eve i drove to the local supermarket to pick up some last minute stuff and after leaving the store i pulled out onto a busy 4 lane highway and began to turn left. part way into the turn i heard a ?clunk? in the front engine compartment and immediately the power steering stopped working. the steering wheel was wrenched out of my hands and i was forced to brake sharply. i was, obviously taken by surprise by the incident and grabbed the wheel with both hands and wrestled the 6,000 lb truck around the turn, running over the curb on the far side of the road. i am a reasonably fit 6?4? 225 lb male and i must tell you that it was all that i could do to turn the wheel and prevent me from running straight through the intersection. my dealership was 4 miles from me and i was able to negotiate my way there without any accidents or injuries. i got the truck there and told the service people what happened and they said have a seat in the waiting room and they would look at it. 25 minutes later a rep came out and said it was fixed. another software adjustment was made. yesterday, jan 5 the same problem occurred and this time i almost had a head on collision with another vehicle. once again i was close to my dealer and was able to drop the truck off in their lot. they are closed on sunday so i called them today and i am waiting for them to ?fix? it again. i am almost afraid to drive the vehicle after this latest incident. updated 03/04/15*lj updated 10/8/2015*js

This truck was purchased at 8 pm on 9/22/2014. when driving on 9/25/2014, the truck vibrated as though i was driving over rumble strips at approximately 40 mph, 55-75 mph. in hi-2 mode in drive, the transmission did not shift smoothly, shifting with a mild clunk at lower gears. we called the dealership and described the issues to a service person and made an appointment to bring the truck in for service on 9/29/2014. the dealer stated that the problems were probably due to alignment issues. on 9/28/2014, i drove the truck and experienced the same shifting and vibration issues. i pulled off the freeway near my destination and stopped at a light. when i attempted to accelerate from the stop, the truck would not move and "revved". it had switched into neutral without any input from me. the transmission shift lever still indicated that i was in drive mode. i drifted into the intersection, unable to get the truck to move. i was able to shift into park, then neutral, and then drive. the truck began to drive and then i felt a strong "thunk" that felt as though i had been rear-ended by a car going at least 25 mph. the truck then drove normally for approximately 150 feet. i had to stop at the light on the other side of the underpass and the same thing happened again, leaving me drifting into an intersection. i was again able to get the truck going after a minute or so, with the same strong "thunk". i called onstar to have the truck towed to the dealership because it is unsafe to drive. on the four other days that we have owned this truck, it was driven only a few miles each day, at low speeds. i am extremely concerned. the truck is unsafe to drive and has less than 300 miles on it. additionally, some of the issues i have experienced are similar to those addressed by a recall, but this truck's vin is not listed in the recall. *tr
When the truck reaches a speed over 35 mph the steering wheel, the seat, and the entire truck has a vibration. i live in east tennessee. i purchased the truck in georgia. it is about a three hour drive from where i purchased the truck to my home. on the drive home i noticed the vibration right away. i thought it may be a tire balance issue so i continued the trip home. the next day i talked with the local dealer and was informed i need 500 miles on the truck before they will work a vibration issue. when i took the truck for service a few days later i was informed that several trucks have this same issue and gm does not know what to do about the issue. the dealer balanced the tires and told me that is all they can do about the vibration. through searching the internet and talking with other dealers i have found that may parts have been replaced with no help. drive shafts, axle shafts, wheels and tires have been replaced and rear ends have been rebuilt. nothing seems to help. most dealers have worked this issue on several trucks. if this vibration is coming from any part of the drive train or suspension and the part has a catastrophic failure it can cause serious injury or possibly death. *tr

I purchased the vehicle, brand new in may of 2014. the first malfunction of the vehicle was june 19 2014. the steering wheel, ignition, and cylinder remained locked and i was restrained from starting vehicle i contacted chevrolet roadside assistance in which they were no assistance.i was able to start car after aprox 30min. the second malfunction was in march 2015. my truck turned off while driving on the freeway in the fast lane causing loss of power steering, speed and all functions of the vehicle. onstar and highway patrol were contacted and highway patrol assisted in pushing vehicle to the shoulder. the third incident was july 30. immediately after taking my truck into paradise chevrolet for an oil change. a gas attendee noticed i was leaking oil. the oil cap had not been tightened causing oil leakage. the most recent event was august 11,2015. my vehicle turned off once again while being driven on the highway with my husband and five month old daughter in it, causing loss of power steering, speed and all functions of the truck. the vehicle did restart aprox.20min after.however, when restarted the truck made a noticeably shakey motion. both events in which the vehicle turned off while driving were followed shortly after paradise chevrolet of ventura ca "upgraded software", without my knowledge. both times i went in for an oil change and i was informed after the fact that they had upgraded software/ preformed a "recall".
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that when the steering column was adjusted upward, the key became in direct contact with the steering wheel paddle shifter which could cause the key to fracture. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was informed that the key might be exposed to the steering wheel paddle shifter when the steering column was tilted upwards however, that was the way the vehicle was designed. the failure mileage was 1,015 and the approximate current mileage was 2,000....updated 09-05-14 *bf updated 7/15/2015 *js
When driving at highway speeds on winding roads, the steering does not return to center when the turn is finished. the steering "sticks" and the wheel needs to be pushed back to center. the steering sticks hard and it takes considerable force to return the wheel to center, sometimes resulting in an overcorrection, and loss of lane position. the truck is difficult to control and impossible to keep centered in the lane when having this problem. the problem consistently happens at highway speed, and on winding roads. gentle curves do not produce the problem, but the winding interstate highways of kentucky, virginia, west virginia, and north carolina do. the truck now has 7000 miles on it, and the problem appears to be getting worse. *tr
Since day one i noticed that the voice commands were not acknowledging proper voice commands. i took it to the dealer 2/20/14 they said it was my phone.it takes me a good solid 3-5 minutes to get a phone call out because of the voice recognition doesn't work . i would also notice that on pandora it would say acquiring net work service. then from that, onto it saying network error.that happens no matter what every time i try to use it i have to turn blue tooth off and turn it back on and then connect it all over again. sometimes i can hear people and they cant here me. on 4/08/14 again i took it in the dealer for the bluetooth problem. my front headlamps get moisture in them when i wash my truck on. 3/13/14 they replaced my left headlamp, still the moisture happens.when turning on the truck from park and engaging on drive a loud clunk and a tough movement makes the truck feel like its swinging from n to s. again i took it to the dealer 2/20/14 and they said nothing was wrong. january of 2014 - april 2014 there were 20 times that my truck went into the service department 4 times for recalls thats 24 times in 4 months for a new truck i got in an accident on 4/20/2014 and 50 parts were put into the truck to repair it. it took the dealer selman 3 months before i had to call and ask what was going on with my truck everyone seems to be clueless. on top of all that i had to denied the truck 8 times because of wrong parts that were put on. they changed my whole front end . the lights turn on when they want, it sound like lose parts in side the dash.the truck shakes on freeway going 40-60mph i have that on video. i feel unsafe driving the truck. i feel that i am being discriminated at selman since they treat me different. i want someone to help me look into this truck it is unsafe for my family and wanted a buy back but they said no i should be able to get that option. *tr
