My truck shuts it's self off as your driving at any speed. i was doing 50 on the highway today when it shut down with no warning. i pulled of the road put it in park turned the key off. and it restarted. the truck has also had many other isues when i took the dealer for the break recall there were 5 coads all were electrical issues.the steering assist comes on when driving along minding your own business.
While turning in reverse, the power steering stopped working. i was going about 3 mph
My trucks traction control will come on when getting on or off onramps, turns in the mountains, around town, everywhere. it is very scary, the truck will show the traction control light and begin to lose power and become hard to steer. i went off the freeway yesterday with my whole family in the truck,. i was on the freeway taking a ramp to another freeway and the light came on, the truck lost power, the steering became hard to turn and i could not make the freeway exchange and went off the highway. i have taken it to chevrolet 2 times and they said that they were either unable to recreate the situation, or that they don't know what the problem is. my next door neighbor has the very same truck, year, make and model with the same issue. this truck is a deathtrap. this has been going on for 2 years with no resolution. i will never buy another vehicle from chevy, because they do not care if we got killed or not, or they would have kept working to figure out the problem.
While operating vehicle at low speed and turning, the steering wheel turns back the other direction repeatedly. when using turn signals the dash and headlights flicker as well as when i press the break pedal sometimes causing the vehicle to turn off!

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that extra strength was needed to steer the vehicle and the "service power steering drive with care" warning indicator illuminated. the contact mentioned that the vehicle violently jerked when the steering wheel became operable again. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 41,335.
During a turn to a side street the vehicle shut off. all steering and brakes were inoperable. there was an engine malfunction light and a message about there being 2 identical keys for the truck then anti theft flashed. while stopped in the intersection blocking traffic, a message directed to roll down the drivers window then back up. when that was done, electrical came back on and steering was restored. the vehicle was started and is now unsafe for use. the control for being on or off is unreliable and therefore unsafe to use as a transport. 42000 miles on the 2014 high country silverado. no steering. no brakes...that makes it unsafe. would you put your family in this vehicle and ask them to drive safely? how do you justify giving total control to volatile software? how about at 75 mph and it fails? just know it can happen would have ensured i considered another purchase. i believe that information alone will justify someone else's marketing data.
Traveling at all speeds the stabilitytrak will turn off when hitting the brakes. simultaneously, the truck will lose quickly lose power and then it comes back on. i have taken the truck to get fixed multiple times at a chevy dealership and each time they come up with something new that could be the problem. i have called and make 2 complaint to gm/chevy ([xxx]and [xxx]) both times the manufacturer have done nothing for me. i did the recall back in 2017 for this problem and that did not work. i have had grounding wire work done, a new battery put in, a new engine fuse block with wiring harness, and recently a new steering column. nothing has worked. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

When i am turning left at low speed it binds slowing the vehicle like the stabilatrack kicks in and won't go any faster.
Turned a corner while braking, the engine died, "service stabilitrac soon" illuminated on the instrument panel; driving down the road pulling a light weight boat trailer, the engine died but came back on immediately and the "service stabilitrac" illuminated; pulled into a parking lot and as i turned about halfway through the turn the engine died and "service stabilitrac soon" illuminated. i took to the truck to the chevrolet dealer and they diagnosed the positive battery terminal was loose and the positive cable had too much resistance - $507.00 later and approximately 10,000 miles later reared it's ugly head again. coming back from a morning drive to the lake and the 'service stabilitrac' light illuminated but the truck didn't die, a little further down the road it did the same thing and died but started right back up on its own while driving, started to back into my driveway and it died in the middle of the road, turned the ignition off and attempted to start it two or three more times, nothing!!! it's like there was no battery installed. every time this happens i lose steering, the brakes seem to fade but i am able to stop on the slow turns like into the parking lot. in all instances the vehicle was moving. one time i noticed an increase in the a/c speed within the cab and the 'service stabilitrac' illuminated but as soon as i turned about half way into a parking area, it died, but continued to pick back up on the engine running. the local dealer had also perfomed some service bulletin regarding the campaign for 'loss of steering assist' at 19,340 miles. the vehicle currently has 42,000 miles..... the date "when did this happen" was today 7/16/2019 but the other times were various before this date.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving at low speeds, turning, or reversing the vehicle, the power steering assist warning indicator illuminated and the power steering failed. shortly after, the vehicle shut off. when the failure occurred, the contact had to restart the vehicle in order for the power steering to return to normal. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
The power steering locks up for just a second and the triggers the stabilitrack warning. the lights flicker when i turn the turn signal on, it will shut off and turn back on when turning at low speeds. all issues that have been recalled on 2014 silverados. just not my 2014 silverado
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving 10 mph, the steering seized intermittently without warning. porter chevrolet (414 e cleveland ave, newark, de 19711, (302) 722-4822) was contacted and stated that the vin was not included in a recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure recurred multiple times. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the failure mileage was approximately 49,000.
When warm voltage drops, warning lights go off such as stability & trailer brake. lost steering & drove into my yard. have had it looked at four times with no resolution. they can not find anything wrong.
Experienced loss of steering and traction at low rpm after being stopped resulting in a near collision with a cement divider. steering and traction control did return after a brief moment. this was the first episode of this happening with this truck.
While engaging slow idle speed turns, my 2014 silverado will occasionally completely lose all power steering and the engine will shut off completely. i have also had the same issue occur while driving straight and applying the brake or rolling up windows. during these terrifying situations, a message comes across the dash saying one or all of the following "electronic power steering reduced. drive with caution" "stabilitrack" "trailer brakes". this issue seems to be very sporadic and unpredictable. i looked up possible solutions and had a mechanic fix a poor grounding connection under the dash which they thought could be the cause but did not resolve the problem. please help!
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 19v645000 (service brakes, hydraulic). while driving and making turns, the steering wheel seized and failed to move. in addition, the brake pedal was difficult to depress and the vehicle lost power. when the vehicle was restarted, it operated as designed. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to sullivan-parkhill automotive (40 w anthony dr, champaign, il 61822, (217) 903-2817) where it was diagnosed that a software update, sensor, and new steering column were needed. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was towed to best chevrolet (2600 veterans memorial blvd, kenner, la 70062, (504) 315-7790), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. the contact stated that the failure was similar to nhtsa campaign number: 17v414000 (steering). the failure mileage was 74,000.
While parked in a parking lot, the vehicle would not start. the truck mad a clicking sound and all lights lit up on dashboard, but no concise error message. truck then started, but lost power when i put it into reverse with all lights coming on again. turned off ignition and then the truck started. drove the truck 2 miles to my home and when pulling into my driveway, the truck lost total power and nearly caused me to crash in to a parked vehicle. i was able to avoid the collision and i turned the key off in the ignition. i waited a minute and the truck started without issue. the next morning, the truck had the same issue starting - clicking sound but would not start. it finally started and i took it to my local shop to get a diagnosis. they could not find the issue. the next day, the same clicking noise occurred and it wouldn't start after multiple attempts. i called aaa to have my vehicle towed to the shop. when aaa came, the mechanic was able to start the vehicle. i then drove it to the repair shop for another diagnosis. they could not pinpoint the issue and recommended that i take the truck to the nearby chevrolet dealership, which i did. they had it for 2 days and could not find an issue - drove, tested, diagnosed multiple times to no avail. truck also did not show any signs of power loss, etc. today, for the fifth time in the last 8 days, there was an issue. truck started normally, drove approx. 2 miles and parked. when attempting to start, the same problem occurred - clicking sound, lights lighting up on the dash board and this time, a stabiltrak error came on and off. truck then started after 3 attempts so i drove it home. went to restart and the clicking sound with lights on the dash lit up again. the power loss while driving has occurred 3 times in the past, but the vehicle started up with no other issues. had this truck for 4 years with no issues until now.
Power steering warning light and loss of power steering. all speeds, all the time.
Temporary loss and sudden return of the steering system at low rpm maneuvering affecting the traction control, park assist and multiple other systems. chevrolet performed recall work on the vehicle supposedly, yet the vehicle still has the problem. they will not continue to sort the problem out.
Electronic power steering keeps going in and out at low speeds. it just started after a oil change at my dealership. when i go slow around a drive through or just start out after a stop.
While driving my truck, the power steering failed, and a service power steering warning came on the dash. i called my local dealership, and they said they couldn't get me in to look at the truck until friday (3 days). i called chevy customer service and they said there is no recall, but i found a recall 17276 that covers this exact issue. the power steering kicked back on and almost caused a head on collision as the truck swirved when the system reengaged.
My 2014 chevy silverado suffers from the same loss of power steering issue gm just issued a recall for in sept. of 2018 for the 2015 model of the silverado. when attempting to park or performing low speed turns the power steering with fail making it incredibly difficult to safely control the vehicle. when on the highway using cruise control, the cruise control had failed without warning and the steering locks up for a moment when this happens. this is a serious safety issue affecting more vehicles than just the 2015 models, and the recall should be expanded to include all affected year models. this issue happens intermittently without warning, and occurs multiple times a week. i purchased this vehicle in dec of 2017, and the issue has been present since my ownership.
Loss of steering; steering wheel locking up and jerking out of my hands while making a turn. headlights ac and radio cutting off. multiple warnings including stabilitrac and power steering assist. engine failure. this happens at low speeds and turning. i took it to the dealer ship today and they said that it fried my battery and cables and fuse but theydont know the reason why this is happening. this is almost $700 out of pocket with no garuntee problem solved. my truck has 32,000 miles 2014 chevy silverado lt 1500. when pulling into the dealership this morning, everything listed above happened and thankfully it reciprocated when the mechanic tested it. it threw off ten different codes .
This vehicle has had a previous recall for power steering failure at low speeds due to voltage issues. the recall and software update was performed in september of 2017. i have recently been experiencing the same symptoms from the previous recall. i have noticed when driving at low speeds i will temporarily loose power steering. this has happened approximately 5 times in the last month. it usually occurs when i am in a parking lot, pulling into a parking space, at low speeds 5-10 mph, and when i am turning. the power steering stops working for a second or so and then comes right back. i have also noticed while traveling on the highway or interstate my headlights flickering as if there is a low voltage issue. the voltage meter has been in the normal operating range, and i have had no warning lights or alarms when these incidents have occurred. most recent incident occurred today 4/30/19 when pulling into a parking space at a local restaurant.
Approx. 1 week ago while driving on a city street, stabilitrak error pops up on screen and power steering goes out while attempting to park. a few days later while driving on highway with cruise control on and engaged, stabilitrak error displays again. initiated my turn signal to signal lane change which disengaged the cruise control. a couple of days later, while driving on the highway with cruise control on but not engaged, the cruise control engaged on it's own causing the engine to rev as an attempt was made to slow the vehicle. dealership says it might be negative battery cable assembly and fuse block and said it would cost me $768 but there is no guarantee it will fix the problem and is likely just the starting point. had the recall done back in august of 2018 for the loss of power steering (where they simply erased the software and loaded new software) so the dealership takes no responsibility for the issue.
I purchased this truck used 3 mo ago, from a dealer with ~101,000 mi on it. in the past several weeks i have had multiple electrical problems, affecting multiple systems. initially, the problems involved the stabilitrack and power steering dash warnings alarming, with a slight change in responsiveness of the steering. it has progressed to complete loss of electrical power (dash, ac, radio, everything goes out, loss of power assisted steerin, and 2/3 times with the vehicle requiring being restarted manually (engine had also shut down). typically after the electrical flicker either the stabilitrack, the power steering or both messages with alarm. this has generally happened when approaching a stop, somewhere between 20 mph and 5 mph, but it next originates after the vehicle has stopped. 2 of the 3 times also included stopping with a gentle turn, as approaching a stop, from which i would then turn. one of the electrical flickers occurred on the freeway while in heavy traffic. i have been unable to capture a picture as this is occurring while driving, and the warning indicator turns off after 3-5 seconds.
On 4/2/2019 while traveling at 45 mph, slowed to make left turn. while midway through intersection, engine died, dash lights went out, power steering and brakes gone. within seconds everything powered back up and engine resumed as if nothing happened. warning indicators words flashed briefly. i caught "stabilitrack". i drove for another mile and as i was entering driveway about 5 mph and while driving straight, engine and dash lights went off again and restarted again. prior to all this headlights were flickering and there was a little deadening in the power steering. truck had 72,950 miles. i checked the grounding points and cleared out the deadening material that slightly impeded it. not sure this will help. this is actually the second time this has happened. on 6/22/18 at 64,888 miles, i had a similar problem. at that time took it in to shop. they tightened the grounding bolts (g218) and cleaned the battery terminals. i guess it helped until recently. it cost $180.
While driving vehicle turns off by itself, locking steering wheel and everything going blank. after a minute or so vehicle will turn back on.
While driving and making turns made a really loud popping noise, took to a mechanic and the rack and pinion are coming apart. done research and found bulletin 14204b and it is exactly what is going on with my truck but the vin doesn't come back. i have kids and this is not anything to take lightly per the recall and the mechanic. if it is same as what recall is why isn't this truck included???? took to local chvrolet dealership and they even said same thing.
Vehicle has several electrical issues. first, power steering fails at low speed turns. then, the car occasionally loses all electrical power (screens, gauges, lights, starter, garage door opener) while parked and off. then last week, it lost all electrical power at 70+ mph on the highway. lost power steering, all screens turned off, gauges when to zero, etc. this lasted for about 3 seconds and then everything came back on. many warning lights including power steering, traction control, parking assist disabled. this also gave a 4wd service warning. now, i get the service 4wd warning every time i start the vehicle and it will not go into 4 wd.
My truck shut off while driving. mostly when making turns. the steering becomes stiff also.
Complete loss of electrical power, power steering, air bags, abs, traction control, and stereo. had to have vehicle jump started to make to home.
Power steering fails when going slow and trying to turn. the voltage indicator goes way down into minus, then goes back to normal. dealer said it was rack and pinion. they replaced it and it failed again two days later. i believe the electric steering piwer assist system is at fault.
About 1 week ago i took my vehicle in for service for an unrelated issue. while it was there, they performed the power steering safety recall. after going to town on february 24th i started my truck to return home and the dic showed a message which said, 'service power steering, drive with care.' i now have no power steering and it is extremely dangerous to operate the vehicle.
When driving truck and turning the steering gets hard and takes a few seconds to control it again. also when i turn left or right driving slow the power steering gets hard and causes stereo screen to turn off for a few seconds, and causes headlights to dim. also the interior lights and dash lights dim. it's very unsafe when turning, can almost lose complete control for steering jerking. not only does this happen when vehicle is in motion but also when truck is stationary.
Stabilitrak light kicks on and off, steering wheel locks up and shudders when turning at low speeds, headlights and dashlights blink like the trucks about to lose power. searching online it looks like there is a device bulletin that fixes these issues, but i shouldnt have to pay for a safety and common issue with this truck. pit5405a is the bulletin number.
The powers steering goes out when pulling into a parking space . the car has completely turned off while waiting to make a left turn , seems to be effected by turning the blinkers on ? , it's like there is a complete glitch in the electrical system ? the electric dash comes on and off & yesterday the truck would not start .... i tried it multiple times and finial after 15 minutes it turned over and no more issues yesterday .
Headlights flicker, radio head unit flickers, error messages (service stablitrak, traction control off, reduced steering assist) doors occasionally will lock and unlock and then truck will shut off all together. steering wheel randomly jerk out of your hands. somebody will end up dead if this issue is not fixed, and recalled. very common through my research in 2014 silverados/sierra's.
: the power steering system temporarily fail without warning during operation, causing the amount of effort needed to turn the wheel to fluctuate dramatically during the maneuver as the power steering system cycles on and off. the issue is especially prevalent during low-speed maneuvers and can be accompanied by the failure of other systems such as the radio, stability control, door-lock cycling, air condition or cruise control. this happens randomly, when i'm parking or making a turn. i almost crashed into a vehicle in mid turn as i lost power steering and the vehicle shut off. i put it in park and restarted the truck.
My steering wheel is hard to move and the a/c does not work
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. when the brake pedal was depressed, the power assist warning indicator illuminated, the power assist failed, the doors would unlock and lock intermittently, the air bag warning indicator illuminated, and the air conditioning would turn on and off intermittently. the contact stated that the failures became more persistent after having the vehicle repaired per an unknown recall involving the brakes. tom bell chevrolet (located at 800 alabama st, redlands, ca 92374, 909-748-1833) was contacted and stated that there was no recall for the failures. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not informed of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 51,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving various speeds, the steering wheel failed and was difficult to control. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing the same failure as listed in nhtsa campaign number: 17v414000 (steering). the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 72,000.
Power steering stopped working as i was driving. then power steering would work then go out again.
The power steering message claiming the the traction was unstable, assistance required. then when truck was in motion and was maki g a turn the truck lost all power. this has happened 3 times.
