Recall 09184 recently my service air bag indicator illuminated and took vehicle to gm service sunset chevrolet sumner washington. they informed me that the sdm needs to be replaced because of excessive corrosion and component failure. waiting to conduct repairs, i discovered a recall that pertained to the sensor retaining moisure due to acoustic padding covering the component, but only covers vehicles registered in specific states, wa not being one of them. will this recall be extended to my vehicle? this is a very costly repair that could have been prevented if i the owner new i could have prevented it by following the provided instructions in the recall. if it will not be extended to my vehicle is there a process or action i can take to help off set the repair cost?

The engine doesn't slow down imediatly after you release accelerator.. also the electric system comes on and off in motion... also sometimes speakers work and sometimes the don't ...in motion or not.. i lost control of the truck and hit a tree going about 40 mph no airbags were deployed...
Takara recall. a couple months ago i had a service light on for the airbag. i took it to the gm certified dealer. they couldn't tell me what was wrong, but they figured it was the sdm. their best guess and to start with that. they told me not to worry, it's nothing serious as of yet. so throughout the course the light would come on and off intermittently. on september 20th after dropping off my child at day care, i went to work early for a meeting. i parked in my normal spot and went in. after my hour long meeting my manager had notified me, that my airbags had deployed. i couldn't believe it. it was off, parked, and airbags went off on their own. if i didn't have that meeting, they would have deployed while driving and would've killed me and my child. i do have video footage of them deploying from my works security cameras.

The problem was not with the air bag, but the front switch that activates the air bags upon impact. when one or both fail the test when you turn the ignition on, it posts a message saying service the air bag system. there is lots of information regarding this on utube. apparently this is a common problem. i am an electrician and an electronics tech, i know that the air bags will not activate if the crash is on the side with a bad air bag. i had 2 brake light switches go out, at which time the person behind me,would have no idea, i was braking. the switch is a 2 part switch, one part controls the brake light, the other enables or disengages the cruise control system.
