We have classified the 102 complaints from 2010 Chevrolet Malibu about VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL into the following categories.
On 2010 chevy malibu, cruise would disengage periodically. complete failure of cruise also resulted in brake lights saying on, just as in this article. fix was replacement of bcm (body/brake? control module) http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20130208/auto0103/302080415/pontiac-g6-brake-light-recall-may-expand?odyssey=mod|newswell|text|frontpage|p. *tr
Error 1. warning errors on dashboard state service esc, service traction; noticed just after oct 2011 purchase. brake position sensor replaced. problem still occurs on and off to this day (april 2014). two services have not fixed this problem. error 2. cruise control would stop working on it's own while at hwy speeds; noticed dec 2011. cruise currently (april 2014) will not engage at any speed. error 3. brake lights will turn on without pedal depression at any speed and conversely when brake pedal is depressed brake lights will turn off; noticed apr 2012. problem still occurring on and off today (april 2014) . the cruise control and brake light issues are huge safety concerns and with more than 20 almost identical complaints documented and at least one crash, why is nothing being done? *tr
The dash board lights do not always come on when the car is first started and sometime they go off while driving. my son-in-law told me to pull over, shut off the motor, pump the foot feed 3 times and then restart the vehicle. that seems to work most of the time. but i should not have to do that. i have had the head lights go out at night when i hit a bump and then they came back on when i hit another bump. the cruise control does not always work. i received a notice that my taillights may not always work and to let them know if i have that problem. well hell i am driving the car not running along behind it!! do i have to wait until someone rear-end me to find out that they don't work? not sure what kind of airbags i have in this vehicle but with history of electrical problems that may also be an issue.these problems have existed from the time the car was new. i have had it in to different shops to have it checked out and every time they tell me they think it is fixed. i am just waiting for the next shoe to drop. is the competition for car makers so vicious that they need to rush production at the cost of customer safety to get vehicles out ahead of their competition? they continue to put more bells and whistles on these vehicles so they can charge us more up front and for continuous repairs. this is totally insane. give me back my '57 chevy. never had any of these safety issues with that honey!!!
Vehicle was operating on cruise control at approx. 70 mph on level road grade.. driver pushed res+ button on steering wheel to increment cruise control set speed and the engine immediately went to wide-open-throttle. driver immediately reacted by tapping brake pedal and the cruise control deactivated. i did not use the cruise control for the rest of our journey. vehicle is a rental and this issue will be reported to rental agency upon vehicle turn-in on 5/10/10. *tr
