The power steering went out while making a turn on roadway at about 25 mph. came back then went out again few minutes later. came back has done it a couple of times since. *tr

In mid-2008, i started noticing a popping in my steering rack. the car was a rattletrap to begin with and always made noise. i went to the chevy garage in mt and told them there was a clanging under the car & tgry fixed the sway bars. a few months later, the popping gets louder and more severe - my friend thinks it's the cv joints, i go to my mechanic (who's gm certified) to get them checked out and to have the brakes fixed. he tells me that the steering rack is going out and it's a huge safety as it could pop out and cause a serious accident - he didn't want me to drive that car until he fixed it. 7 mos later, which brings us to 6/11/13, i notice a popping noise again and bring it in - it needed to be fixed again! these are gm certified mechanics & a gm certified shop. the steering rack was so torn up, he thought i went offroading - and i live on paved roads! *tr

My son was driving the 2007 chevy malibu i bought for him for work/school when the electrical power steering system went out. he was driving down a busy three lane road, and as he began to change lanes, the steering became very stiff. he heard a chime and then saw the dash flash "power steering". since he wasn't expecting this, he couldn't control the steering right away, and the malibu continued to drift toward the outer lane in which another vehicle was in. he barely avoided hitting the side of this other vehicle by turning the steering wheel of the malibu the other way by using a lot of force. since then, the power steering goes out intermittently. this is very unsafe and needs to be repaired as soon as possible, before someone is injured or killed, and it should be repaired by the manufacturer, since this seems to be a general problem with the 2007 chevy malibu. *tr

Upon entering freeway, steering wheel locked, causing stiffness. this has been happening more often now. while driving, steering wheel jerks to the left and to the right. have to hold on tight in order to control. this is happening now on a daily basis. called the chevrolet dealer, and was informed no recall for this problem. i saw a recall dated 03/31/2014 for other chevrolet cars with the same problem. why were the 2007 malibu not included? this is a very serious problem, we have an 8 month old baby that travels in this vehicle. please add to recall. *tr

I was driving my 2007 chevy malibu and my steering went out causing me to hit a fire hydrant. i could not realign the car it pulled so hard to the right when it cut off. i have never had this problem with the car before. i went out to drive the car the other day and it was working just fine. i had the car repaired by my insurance company but they said the were not going to fix the steering problem since they could not prove it was not already broken when the accident happened. i am shocked there is no recall on this vehicle for the steering issues. *tr

Bought this car from a nissan dealer as a used car in june 2012, it is the lt ve model. the problem is: while turning left with acceleration the steering wheel jerks right, at times it can be jerked out of the hands (depends on acceleration speed), also a clunking noise from left front wheel at times (with or without engine running). sometimes while driving at 55 mph or better, taking a left handed curve, steering will become stiff and hard to turn. this has not caused any accidents yet but it could in the future resulting in serious injuries or death. *tr

Since july of 2012 my power steering was intermittent now as of sept 14th 2013 i don't have any power steering at all. the fuel light stays on, the gas gage fluctuates. i have had to drive without any power steering. i must use the car for transportation to and from work. i believe this is extremely dangerous to be driving a car with out power steering!!! i did bring it to the dealership where i purchased it and was told they were not sure replacing the steering column would fix the problem, and it would cost at least $750.00!!!! please advise. i looked at the recall and the 2007 was not included this makes no sense to me. obviously they know there is a problem with the steering in the malibu. Power steering not working. *tr

While driving on numerous occasions over the last two years under many different conditions on and off the freeway, my steering wheel has suddenly started to shimmy back and forth as the "power steering" warning appeared on the dash console and an alarm pings out three times in rapid succession. it is obvious that there is a loss of power steering during these occasions as i fight the steering wheel to ensure control of the car's direction. the condition persists still two years down the road. too expensive to fix. *tr

Vehicle became hard to turn and shortly showed power steering code on radio. gm was contacted offered no help because it ran out if warranty a couple of months ago. all other year malibus with same electric power steering have been recalled except 2007 models, which has same mechanical components as other models and same complaints. two days ago power steering completely went out can no longer move vehicle. was driving at approximately 30 mph slowing down when it decided to quit. gm still offers no help. someone is going to get. hurt if they do not include this vehicle, 2007 chevy malibu, in the recall. *tr

While driving on a straight part of the road going about 45 i felt the steering wheel jerk to the left turning the car into on coming traffic, i had to pull very hard to the right to keep from hitting another car head on. then a few days later the same thing happened only this time it jerked to the right causing me to run into a ditch. i am scared to drive this car but have to it is the only one i have to get to work and back. gm needs to recall this car a fix the steering problem before some gets killed. *tr

A couple of issues with this car!!! first off, the latest recall done in 2014 with the brake lights not illuminating when pedal pressed but did when pedal wasn't depressed.after calling and going to multiple gm dealers, i had to research how to fix the problem and tell the gm dealer how! the issue is starting to act up again now. starts off with the gear shift being nearly impossible to pull out of park and the cruise control acting up.wow, now a recall? second. the seering wheel has on 2 occasions jerked violently to one side then back and forth on it's own...while driving! almost as if the vehicle looses all power/dash lights come on it then jerks and makes a weird nose before it flips upside down and locks up! my 15 year old niece (who has had her permit 3 months) was driving one of the times! third - the airbag light randomly comes on / goes off when someone is sitting in the seat. i think i' should get all my $ back from the times i took my car in to find out "what the problem was" and had fixed (temporarily apparently) and now recalls are coming! honestly - there are enough things to worry about while driving (drunks, bad drivers, blow outs etc.) it's unsettling to have "known" issues with your vehicle but these companies will not fix! *tr

This happens whenever i first start driving. the driver info center says power steering and sometimes it gets hard to turn but then comes back after a few seconds and is fine until i park and return to vehicle to go home or work. *jb

Power steering completley went out while i was driving! i ran up on the curb almost hitting another car coming out of a driveway! *tt

On my 2007 chevy malibu, the cruise control will shut off by itself going down the road, the brake lights work backwards by step on brake they are off, foot off brake the lights are on. the steering wheel will lock up and have to shut car off and restart to get it to unlock and idling the car the steering wheel shakes and while driving down the road it shakes also. the part of the fuel pump that controls the gas gauge no longer works. i have taken to the dealer and they don't know of any recalls as of yet. but i have researched and have found this to be common problems, so why aren't there any recalls? *tr

My steering wheel began to move slightly left and right on its own. it also had a loose and wobbly feeling to it. took it to my mechanic and he fixed the problem. my second incident occurred on 1/2/2015. my steering completely went out while i was driving. *tr

2007 chevy malibu started having power steering issues. while driving out of a parking lot my power steering went out and began flashing on my display screen. i pulled over and turned the car off, when restarted the power steering worked again. it was fine for awhile and then out of no where the power steering would just go out. it has happened on multiple occasions and at various speeds. then the power steering began flashing and beeping on my display screen but the power steering was working just fine. now it is beginning to go out while driving again. this is a serious problem and i am not sure why every other model with this problem is being recalled and this one is not. *tr

I was driving my malibu when suddenly the steering became uncontrollable. i managed to pulled the car to the side of the road. i shut the engine down. i pulled out my manual for the 2007 car and i was directed to the kind of power steering that was supposed to be installed in my car. the manual indicates that the 2007 manual for my chevrolet malibu ltz with a v6 engines should have a hydraulic power steering system in place. it also shows by illustration the position of the power steering reservoir. i took the car to a chevrolet dealer in arlington, ma. and the mechanic said this car has no power steering reservoir. i showed him the manual and he said there's something wrong here. call gm customer care and maybe they can resolve the problem because they wrote the manual. *tr

While making a turn and accelerating in my 2007 malibu, the electric power steering went out and the car continued to go straight, almost causing me to go up the curb. after letting off the gas, the steering came back and i was able to gain control. during this time, the dash displayed "power steering" and made a chime. *tr

While my wife was operation on the interstate, with no warning at all the steering locked up, she had to muscle it to the side, once tow truck came he cranked the car and no issue, once she made it home while turning into driveway, it locked up again, according to internet research several, i mean several complaints are against the steering on same make model cars, chevy will not fix, nor can i afford the 500+ to fix nor can i loose my loved ones and have them held responsible for someone else's death, , i have a 25k dollar flower pot for sale...... *tr

The car steering wheel locks up. it never locks up while driving. it only does it at crank. sometimes, when i crank the car the power steering does not unlock until about 20 mins into driving and sometimes it doesnt at all making it difficult to turn the wheel. *tt

Upon starting the car the power steering indicator came on and there was no power steering. i had to shut the car off and turn it back on. this has happened over 10 times since the first time. the steering wheel has vibration when turning to the left like the motor is skipping. gm needs to do a recall on these before someone gets killed. i am considering getting a petition together to see about a class action lawsuit to force them to repair these defects. *tr

Steering shaft failure - power steering motor failure steering box replaced gas gauge sensor replaced struts replaced passenger door won't seal i have hated this car almost from the moment i bought it. so many things wrong with it. 2007 car shouldn't have all these problems. 1989 blazer still going and has none of this crap.

Noticed after i first purchased the vehicle that when ever pulling into traffic or just accelerating quickly at all the power steering will go out causing the wheel to be "straightened" back up which yanks the car really hard causing for quick correction which can lead to over correction and then a wreck. very dangerous in the rain or snowy/icy conditions since it yanks the wheel back straight and causes the car to slide. when this happens you can hear audible clicking noise coming from the column and sometimes even the warning dinging that the traction control failed. seriously needs to be fixed because eventually it will cause wrecks and quite frankly deaths! very frightening when this happens! and apparently its not just my car. *tr

When accelerating and providing input to the steering wheel the steering seems to go out of the vehicle. this only happens if the engine rpms approach 3000. this tends to happen as i'm accelerating onto the expressway. this has been happening off and on for approximately a year. *tr

I am having problems with the electric power steering. the steering wheel will randomly lock up when im driving and a message saying power steering comes up on the screen. i don't like driving my car anymore because i don't know when and how long the wheel will lock up for. i have looked online and have notice that this is a big issue. *tr

2007 chevy malibu ls 3.4 electric power steering problem, the steering wheel will start pulsating either left or right at starting the engine, while driving it will move by itself like if it is trying to correct the position of the tires. for less than 2 seconds makes you feel like there is no control on the steering unless you correct the direction of the tires by gradually compensating on the opposite direction. it will display a warning sign for the power steering on the radio, on mi case i had it for two days, then it erased by itself, i tried to look for the power steering reservoir, without knowing that this car has none, since it is handle by an electric motor. i will take the car to my mechanic to see if he knows about these problem, since is no recalls so far in this 2007 malibu for the electric power steering. *tr

Power steering issues on my 2007 chevy malibu. while making a right hand turn the power steering fails and pulls steering wheel to the left without warning, almost ran into oncoming traffic. *tr

On 6/20/2011 i was driving down a major road with my grandson in the back seat in a child safety seat. without warning my steering wheel started jumping and pulling hard to the left. the steering was stiff and hard to pull back to the proper direction. then it pulled so hard that it was at a point i almost put my car into head on traffic or a ditch. i was fortunate enough to find a parking lot to pull into. i turned off my engine and composed myself. i was able to get my car back home. i had no warning of power steering system on my warning system until this problem happened. this is a major problem that needs to be on a recall notice. i have researched this on the internet and i am not the only one that has had this issue. there are many. this could have been a major accident since this was a major road (hwy146). we took my car to ron craft chevrolet for the repairs within a couple of days. we do not have the part taken off, but i am sure they have this on record. i have the invoice and cancelled check. they replaced the electric steering motor. i would like to have this on a recall as soon as possible. *tr
