The car is not driving smooth. the car is having multiple problems
On interstate driving approx. 60 mph suddenly check engine light came on, and reduce engine speed light on and car dropped drastically down to literally no power. barely had time to get on shoulder without causing accident. went to local mechanic and he said that the issue was the throttle peddle.
Reduced engine power light comes on intermintently while driving had the throttle body and accelerator pedal replcaed twice after i bought the car with 75000 miles on it. still the reduced engine power light comes on. just yesterday i was unable to start my car. throttle problems light came on in window
My car just stopped in the middle of the road in heavy traffic of 45 mph. weather was about 90 degrees f.. message on dash was "starting disabled service throttle." i am lucky not to have been seriously hurt or killed. after pushing it to a side street, it started again and showed "reduced engine power" and went about 20 mph. i saw online this is common problem with many chevrolets. why no recall? so dangerous. repair is estimated at $750.
Driving on highway @ 60 mph when engine dies with no warning. dash shows following messages: "engine power reduced" "serivce traction control" "service stabilitrax" power steering and power brakes stop working. when car key is turned off and check engine codes are cleared, the car starts up fine and continues to run smoothly. luckily i was able to safely stop the car (albeit on the middle of a major highway), turn it off, clear the codes, and start it back up to get out of the way. same problem happened in january 2018. after this i took it to a chevy dealer. they said car was covered under "warranty" for this problem and they replaced the throttle body. one month later same problem keeps occurring. car runs fine but these messages appear about once a month. typically the engine stays on and is only limited in power. however, occasionally the car will die completely without warning, even on the highway. had car brought to chevy dealer. they said they can not fix the problem unless it is currently occurring with the car. they recommended i take the car and bring it back to them when the problem happens again. however, i do not feel safe driving this car knowing the engine could just shut down at any moment and the chevy specialist themselves do not seem to even have a clue about what could be causing this.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that the reduce power indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the throttle body, throttle body sensor, and fuel pedal sensor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic who diagnosed that the mass air flow sensor failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic five times for the same failure. the mechanic also stated that the spark plugs failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure continued. the manufacturer and dealer were not made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was approximately 205,000. the vin was not available.
One day i was driving my car home making a right turn and my engine started making noise and was acting as if it was going to cut off. so i parked my car called my mechanic he came over and looked at the car i said it could be a possible rocker arm that has gone in the car or i could have something to do with the check engine light coming on giving me a code for a cam positioning sensor / solenoid. also when i purchase the car not too long after me driving i noticed there was some noise coming from my back tires. i couldn't figure it out for a while until one day i looked at my tires and noticed that on the inside there was a considerable amount of scraping going on wearing away my tread. it would always seem to happen when i got new tires on the car so i thought maybe the tires were too big for the car but i ordered what the manufactor suggested the tire size should be for the car. so i had a tire specialist look at it and an alignment specialist look at it and they told me that the suspension springs may be causing my issue. they said that i should not have to change the size of my tire for them to fit because the manufacturer specifications are correct and the tires were the right size for the car.
Very bad knocking noise also electrical fire could've caught on fire
Lights came on dash service throttle, reduced engine power. i was driving down the highway on 8/16/2018 going 55 when the car started to chatter and i struggled to pull over to the side of the road, i almost was rear ended because it was so sudden. i shut the car off and let it sit for a bit then it started and i went on. today it did it and it still wont start after hours.
While i was driving, the car gave a notice of reduced engine power, then a few miles later, another notice came on service throttle disabling service. and the car shut off! with no warning, and no way to get to safety. if i wasn't in an area that had a shoulder i could get to quickly or if there was any traffic near me, i would be dead! this is incredibly unsafe and is going to get someone killed, if it hasnt already! that has to be some sort of flaw in the programing. if i would have been on the highway, which is where i normally am at that time of day, i would have had no time to react and get to a safe area before the car shut down on me. it also locked up the steering wheel and braking system so i had next to no power. it was incredibly scary. i am just glad that i was driving the car, instead of my elderly mother. she very well may have had a heart attack from the fear. in no way should a car just shut down mid-drive like that! i cant even begin to explain the amount of ways how badly that could go wrong, and this seems to be a common issue with chevy vehicles and the throttle body. even if the throttle body is going bad, in no way should your car be programed to just shut off mid-drive, ever. i really hope that is a programing flaw and not intentional, because if that is intentional, you are truly trying to kill people. what is it going to take for chevy/gm to get the issue fixed? how many people getting killed in unnecessary accidents is it going to take? i pray that myself or my family isn't one of them! please chevy/gm, get this issue fixed already.
Takata recall. when vehicle is started a loud screech happen every time vehicle is started, once vehicle is in motion on highway, street, city.and in motion the vehicle starts alarming and lettimg me know in the information widow check tire monitoring system with tire pressure light consistently on then vehicle alarming sounds again to check stability trak and then it alarm s again with the check engine light that the vehicles engine power has been reduced and vehicle is no longer able to pick up speed right away this has been going on sense i purchased it. also when im making turns the vehicle will alarm about having stability trak serviced
My vehicle experiences an 'engine power is reduced' message in addition to losing capability of driving faster than 40 mph likely as a result of a common fault by the manufacturer.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet impala. while driving 60 mph, the reduced engine power and the service stability control indicators illuminated as the vehicle decelerated. staten island buick gmc (1855 hylan blvd, staten island, ny 10305) diagnosed that sensors t2135: (throttle body) and p2138: (accelerator pedal actuator) failed and needed replacement. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer offered to assist with the replacement of the throttle body, but not the accelerator pedal. the failure mileage was 59,502.
Tl* the contact called on behalf of the owner of a 2008 chevrolet impala. on several occasions, the vehicle failed to start and the reduced power warning indicator illuminated. additionally, while driving 55 mph, the vehicle stalled. the contact was unable to restart the vehicle. the contact stated that the failure was intermittent. the vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic and fault code: p-2135 was retrieved. the mechanic replaced the ecm, throttle body, accelerator pedal mechanism, and the wiring harness between the ecm and throttle body; however, the failure recurred. the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
Leaking and can't identify if front engine cover oil is leaking, or engine oil filter adapter gasket, or head gasket oil leak. help! i was having my oil changed.
Vehicle hesitates throttle body causes car to jerk cut off not pick up speed always idled up speed sensor reads 107 mph when only going 30mph stalls. almost was rear ended because car shut off in the middle of driving.i have my car regularly serviced and all of a sudden this started happening. my blendoor aculater cause my heat not to sometimes come on and it makes this loud clicking noise. most if no all impala have this problem and gm knows about all the things i told you about yet they dont wanna recall the vehicle
Engime power reduced seevice tractuon control. while driving power is cut to near nothing. about 20 mph. after shutting the car off and starting a few hours later it's fine. a couple days later it happens again. faulty equipment from gm.
When my impala is in motion within the minutes it states engine power reduced and it slows down the car. if i drive 60 mph or more when engine power is reduced then it says service shuttling down and the car will completely shut down it's a big safety hazard especially when i'm on the freeway.
First, the key will not come out of the ignition without pressing the release key switch located under the steering wheel. then the car won't accelerate over 20 mph in d while driving anywhere, it won't go over 40 in d3. not sure why but this is what is happening with the impala.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet impala. while driving 40 mph, the engine reduced power indicator illuminated and the vehicle began to reduce in speed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the throttle positioning sensor failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was called and informed the contact that if a diagnostic fee was paid, the vehicle could be covered under a technical service bulletin. the contact stated that he did not have money for a diagnostic fee. the failure mileage was approximately 34,000.
I was driving in traffic around 5:30pm cst on us 59 n and rankin rd tuesday 11/15/16 when my vehicle lost engine power. i was unable to accelerate or steer and the only light that came on in the car was the service tire monitor system. i managed, somehow, to steer the vehicle to the left shoulder of the freeway and put it in park. i turned off the vehicle and when i went start it again, after releasing the key, it made a stuttering to start sound over and over again even though i was no longer touching the key. when i tried to start it again it turn on and then back off and continued to do this at least 3 more times. i eventually had it towed to my home and after reading online today at forums.edmonds.com many people have been having this issue with impala's and suburban's from gm for at least 4 years now, first post is back in 2012. gm needs to put a recall on these vehicles and fix the issue before it more fatalities, as proven in their earlier 2014-2015 recall. they just did a recall about a year ago for impala's having an issue where the ignition switch would then switch into the off position while driving if you hit a bump too hard and had too much weight on your keys. i got my vehicle serviced for that recall issue but it seems like their fix for that was incorrect and not the issue seeing as my vehicle, and several others, still shuts down while driving and the ignition is still in the on (not off) position, you lose acceleration and steering. this is extremely dangerous and will cause more deaths, injuries, and accidents. please get this to gm and have them correct this issue in all their models with sensor throttle body's instead of wired ones. they also need to fix the issue of door and a/c accuators in their models, as its been described to me as a common issue in gm models. this is a very unsafe issue for all drivers gm or not. more accidents will follow.
Two different outcomes but stem from the same issue. while trying to start my vehicle i get a click and care won't start at all. sometimes after several tries it does fire up. also when it does start it will sometimes stall. most recently while traveling didn't the interstate it stalled going 75mph leaving me to coast and disrupt 4 lanes of traffic.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet impala. as soon as the vehicle was started, the reduce engine power and service traction control warning indicators illuminated. the contact drove the vehicle for approximately 6 miles at 25 mph before the vehicle stalled. the engine powered off and the starter disabled warning indicators illuminated. the contact had to coast the vehicle to the side of the road to a complete stop. after a few minutes, the vehicle restarted and operated normally. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the vin was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 129,000. updated 08/30/16*lj
Takata recall. it happen to me twice i got two kids the car lost power from 45 to ten. engine light is on. the code thst comes up is p2138 this is not ok needs to get fixed. first time it happen i was on a highway the car behind me almost hit me due to the engine power loss.
I got a jump after the engine light came on. took it to get ichecked they say its my ecm. what is that and is it related to that electrical recall. i was in park
2006-2009 chevrolet impala ss ticking noise, engine misfire and/or ses light. this may be the result of an afm (active fuel management for displacement-on-demand) lifter that unlocks as soon as the engine is started or one that is mechanically collapsed/stuck. if an afm lifter unlocks as soon as the engine is started, a ses light and dtc p0300 will be experienced with engine misfires on cylinder 1, 4, 6 or 7 but it is unlikely that any noise will be experienced. if an afm lifter is mechanically collapsed/stuck, a consistent valvetrain tick noise, ses light and dtc p0300 will be experienced with engine misfires on cylinder 1, 4, 6 or 7.
Reduced engine power message. this message came up after have car at mechanics for a repair on actuator. we took back to mechanic and he cleared message however message has appeared after a week of driving car less than 10 miles per day. mechanic said possible fix resulting in another $300 repair. the message came up while doing local driving around town less than 5 miles before it will appear
Reduced engine power message, faulty back door locks, heating actuator repairs. this is a revised complaint to one i also made for just the reduced engine power message. after reading numerous complaints on here i have found that my car has several of the issues not just reduced engine power. i am most concerned with the car cutting out while driving due to the reduced engine power however we also have locks that don't open/lock with remote which has been going on for the last 3 years and since last winter heater only blows cold air until you accelerate the car. this month we had car repaired for a knocking noise coming from under glove box while car was running or shut off. mechanic diagnosed as a new actuator and did repair. this however did not repair the blowing of cold air and also this is when the reduced engine power warning started. i am a former gmac employee and have had gm vehicles for the last 15 years. i am so disappointed that there are so many problems with this make/model and that gm has not issued a recall on these.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet impala. while attempting to accelerate, the vehicle hesitated and jerked forward. the contact took the vehicle to gregg young chevrolet (17750 burt st, omaha, ne 68118, (402) 509-3028) twice, but they were unable to diagnose the failure. on one occasion, the contact's vehicle lurched forward and crashed into another vehicle that turned in front of the contact. the crash was a t-bone collision. a police report was filed. the contact and other driver were injured and transported to the hospital for medical attention. the vehicle was towed to huber cadillac (11102 w dodge rd, omaha, ne 68154, (402) 496-5400), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the fuel pump, spark plugs, coil, and fuel injector (twice); however, the failure recurred. the failure mileage was 85,000.
Hello, only had my car 2 years and nothing but problems..my biggest concern is this light that's keeps coming on and says "engine power reduced" and kicks my cars down between 20 and 40 miles per hour..huge safety issue to me. i was driving with my 3 children on the highways when out of nowhere my car reduced to 20 miles on the highway!!! i was scared as well as my children and had to exit the highway as safely as possible. now i have done some investigation about this and see many people are having the same issues how horrible. why is there not a recall for this? my life and my children's lives are a factor and it's terrifying that nothing is getting done about this but is known by the makers of this vehicle..please i would like some answers and something done about this. i am a nurse out here saving lives everyday and i can't just afford to keep trying to fix a problem with a car that nobody has a real answer on why it's doing this. i have no option to still drive this vehicle as well as many other hard working people who have spent their hard working money on these vehicles and company. thank you for your time and consideration with this matter. *tr
Engine oil leaks, valve cover gaskets, head gaskets, oil pan gasket. can smell burning oil when driving & parked. after driving.
(reduced engine power) my 2008 chevy impala randomly shows down after the dash reads reduced engine power. i am lucky to be alive i was doing about 60 on the expressway and the car speed just dropped to 20mph i had to swerve because the car behind could not slow down in time. my two year old was in the car and i hear that gm cars have this problem all the time. this is ridiculously dangerous someone has to do something about it. the gm dealership has no ideal how to fix this.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet impala. while driving 65 mph, the engine power reduced and the engine light warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle independently decelerated to 10 mph and failed to accelerate. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the throttle body control module needed to be repaired. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 140,000.
While i was driving my car, about to accelerate, all of a sudden, a "service traction control" message came on and seconds after that, there was a "engine power is reduced" message. at this point there was some hesitation in the vehicle. i pulled over and shut the car off. when i turned the car on, after 2 minutes, i received the same message. i took the vehicle to my mechanic, and he couldn't find anything wrong with it. i called my locale gm dealer and for a "nominal" charge, they would take a look at it. since then, i have researched it on line, and have found that there have been numerous complaints about the same issue. it is a shame that gm has done nothing to fix this. i'm glad i was not on the highway when this happened, as the loss of speed and lack of acceleration could have caused an accident.
Traction control needs service message displayed, then throttle disabled message displayed shutting the engine off going down the road. so therefor no power steering, brakes etc . once pulled onto shoulder car would not crank. had to wait five minutes until the gauges flickered and then car was able to be restarted. this is highly dangerous if not where to pull off or being followed closely. not to mention not power steering assist or brake assist. this could very easily cause a crash and there for should be a recall issued before people are injured or killed by this!
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet impala. while driving at approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled and the starting throttle disabled warning message illuminated. the vehicle restarted and resumed normal operation. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 166,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet impala. while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled and the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle did not restart. the dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 77,120.
I was driving down the street and out of nowhere the engine light came on and said engine reduced power. the car seemed to slow down and not have power. if i came to a stop and began to drive again, the car barely accelerated and the transmission jerked every single time it shifted. i had every car going around me down the busy street, because the car would barely go. i was worried i wouldn't even make it home and that the transmission was going to have serious problems along with the engine as it jerked roughly with every gear change. this is something that needs to be recalled immediately! it couldn't have happened at a worse time, as i just purchased this car a few weeks ago, have my first child on the way, and just got a house. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet impala. while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle decelerated as the traction control and engine speed reduced warning lights illuminated. as a result, the vehicle stalled. the vehicle failed to restart. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 118,000.
I have had this reduced engine power/service traction control message before with this car. a few years ago i had it cut off on me in the middle of a side street. thankfully it wasn't a busy street. but i've never felt threatened until this morning. i came to an intersection of a busy highway when i got the message. i needed to cross over to the other side. as i began to cross i was in the cross-hairs of a trash truck on one side and a car on the other. i tried to floor it but my car didn't respond as normal. it truly was reduced! thankfully all the other vehicles performed as they should. *tr
The reduced power light came on while i was driving. i checked online and it seems like a lot of people are having this problem. it is a major concern because it will slow your vehicle down if your going at high speeds. *tr
Reduced engine power message is displayed and the car slowed to about 20 mph. had this been the highway we could have had a serious accident. according to various blogs on the internet gm is ignoring this life threatening defect. i would pay for a fix but there doesn't seem to be one at this time. i will give a chevy dealer a chance to make it right but am not holding my breath. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled and the engine losing power warning light illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 90,000. the vin was not available.
I started my car and the rpm's went to 0. message stated "service traction control" and engine power reduced". when i looked up information online i noticed many people had the same problem with chevy/gm cars.
I let me 2008 chevy impala warm up as the windchill is around -35 degrees below zero. i started out of the parking lot, when all of a sudden my message display said "reducing engine speed", then it said "service disabled, disabled service throttle". then the veh came to a complete stop and left me stranded in the middle of a parking lot! there are no towers available at all till tomorrow morning either. tried jumping starting the vehicle - but to no avail. called a chevy dealer and they had no idea what was happening with it. *tr
Vehicle out of the blue says "reducing engine speed" and then car slows down and can not speed up in traffic cars about to run over me wonder will this happen on the highway? *tr
I was going 65 mph on the freeway and out of nowhere my engine went into power reduce mode without warning and i almost got rear ended bad with my child in the car with me. i did get tapped from behind but really nothing major but it could have been worse thank god i was able to walk away from that. mind you i just picked my car up that friday from the chevrolet dealership they changed the throttle body and still the same problem. now this is the second time i picked my car up from the chevrolet dealership for the same problem. the first time they tried to tell me it was the battery. this is a very dangerous issue i'm having and it shouldn't be taken lightly. it seems that many people are having the same problem and innocent peoples lives are getting put in danger for no reason..... please help.....thank you *tr
Vehicle was leaking oil for the past several months and upon inspection by local repair shop on january 15, 2015, two different visible leaks were found as a result of normal wear and tear after only approx. 73,000 miles. the repair shop indicated that inferior gaskets/seals in the 1) engines intake manifold gasket and 2) the rack and pinion system caused premature leaks to occur in the models. repair costs are estimated at approx. $2,000. *tr
I was driving and all of a sudden my engine light came on and a message popped on my dash board that said enging power reduced. this is about the 10th time or more that this has happened to me. after google searching the problem, there are hundreds of people having this same issue with their chevy impala. there needs to be a recall on this!!! no one should have to come out of their pocket. *js
Out of no where while driving the display says "engine power reduced" and then switches to "service traction control". i have limited power, the check engine light comes on and so does the traction control light. i can drive the car to where i am going, but no acceleration. *js
