Secondary air pump keeps shorting and having to be replaced. this has happened three times and is scheduled for a fourth time.*jb
When the vehicle was started, there was an explosion and the engine caught on fire. the ignition components in the firewall area overloaded or shorted out rapidly which caused the plastic cover and parts around it to incinerate. possible fuel leak, hoses, or seals damaged by explosion igniting fuel. general motors offered to replace vehicle. instead settled claim. replaced new impala. *jb *cb *jb
While driving at 35mph up a bridge, vehicle quit running, replace ignition switch.
Instrument panel remains illuminated intermittently. dealer has been contacted, but is unable to locate source of problem by computer. please provide further details.*ak
While trying to turn the a/c blower down,the consumer by mistake turned the ignition off because the design of the two switches were very close to each other. *yh
The vehicle was taken to the dealer to have recall c01035-s performed and was told it would take 15 min, the consumer sat in the dealer for 1.75 hours before the work was complete, the consumer was led to believe that the recall repair was being performed, it wasnot until the consumer read the invoice that she realized that it was not done, the consumer contacted the dealer and was told the the necessary part for repair is not available. nlm
Consumer was driving for 1 hour and 10 minutes and got off highway when vehicle stalled out suddenly and could not restart. vehicle had to be towed to dealer. but, dealer could not determine cause at this time. *ak for the second time the vehicle stopped. the gm advised, the cause was the wire harness which dealer installed. *yh
Most serious problems are stalling and electrical malfunctions. *ak
This is the second time in 12 weeks that my new vehicle has been back to the dealer for repairs. this is not acceptable. no safety defect listed. *ak
Seat belt sensor wire under front passenger seat caused a vehicle fire was determined by fire department. please provide any additional information/attachments.*ak
Have repeatedly notified service department at dealership where purchased that my remote entry system does not work. i can only open the driver door or the trunk--rarely able to open both the driver door and passenger door even with repeated attempts. i feel the sensors are not working but the dealership brushes the situation under the rug and never addresses the problem. in todays world it becomes dangerous at times to not be able to enter vehicle promptly--not to mention it is a real "pain in the butt" during a rain storm.
The engine imtermittently looses acceleration power on the highway and stalls out when making turns, the vehicle has been taken to the dealer on several occasion but the problem still exist. nlm
Front brakes rotor problem, replaced sever times, rotors are warped or have excessive run out, can not find the cause. resulting in vehicle vibration when the brakes are applied. replaced front disc rotors several times.
While driving there was a loud clunk. driver pulled over, opened the hood, and discovered flames coming from engine. vehicle has not been seen.*ak there was a hole in the gas line where it went into the engine and this caused a flash fire. *yh
While vehicle was in park and idling, a fire started unexpectedly on dashboard near cigarette lighter. consumer was able to extinguish the fire before any injury occurred. dealership examined vehicle and could not determine cause of the fire because there were no malfunctions with cigarette lighter, and there were no other electrical systems near the area where fire started. please provide any additional information / documentation / photographs.*ak

When attempting to start vehicle there is a no start condition, problem is intermittent. consumer has contacted dealer on 6 different occasions, and parts have been replaced. but, problem still occurs. please provide any further details.*ak
Engine failure - sputters, stalls, battery light / engine check light blinks, rpm rev, etc. on 9 separate instances - no solution from dealership. *ak
While driving could see the battery light come on, then engine will stall. consumer will turn ignition off for 10-15 minutes, then restart again. on last visit to dealer, they found the problem to be due to improperly connected wires. repairs were made, no problems since. *ak *ml
Engine/trans partial failure, almost stalling in intersection. instrument cluster had system managment lighting in dash flashing for no reason. replacment of instrument cluster actually worsened uncommanded light flashing. initial repair of engine problems diminished severity of stalling, however did not completely correct the problem. unable to duplicate stalling on a consistant basis. *ak
Car was idling in "park" when incident occurred. dealer's work order states "excessive current load from fuel pump burned wire terminal at ignition block. repaired burned wire terminal and replaced fuel pump". since fuel pump is located in gas tank, any electrical failure of this part could cause a major fire. *ak
Inhalation injuries occurred due to melting of wiring harness plastic, thanks to your web site a fire didn't happen. 3 different people have had effects from the melting insulation of the harness and the company cannot duplicate the response. *ak
Scorched wires found under the dash, r-134a leaking into car from independant tester, daytime running lights occasionally, exhaust system damaged from excessive heatand fuel economy is only 10 mpg
Electrical failure, steering rack and pinion failure, lower ball joint/lower control arm/lower ball joints/long shaft sleeve failure
For no apparent reason while the vehicle was parked there was a fire in the dash area. husband was able to put out most of the fire until the fire department arrived. fire department stated that the fire appeared to be electrical. owner not sure what will be done with the vehicle. *ak
Impala control computer - upon traction control activation (wheel slip), control computer activates security system which kills engine and prevents it from being restarted. myself and my three children were almost killed by a passing truck when we had to leave vehicle to seek assistance. dealer replaced computer, however, firmware release is likely problem.
The consumer was parking vehicle, smelled smoke and noticed engine was on fire. front harness wires overheated. consumer lost power steering, and when the consumer went to move the vehicle, there was some type of fluid on the ground under. fire department came out and put out the fire.*ak
Vehicle stalls in heavy traffic. within 15 minutes vehicle was able to restart. taken to the dealer and informed consumer that the problem was due to a poor connection, repairs made. *ak
Engine will cut off or stall without warning while traveling at any speed. dealership has examined vehicle numerous times and has been unable to effectively remedy the problem. *ak armrest cup holder broke. blower motor whistling, belt making noise. when applying brakes car shimmies, front rotors are out of round. when using a/c vehicle fills up with fuel smell, fan motor bearing worn, dealer replaced. dashlights illuminated. vehicle experiences hard start condition, dealer replaced wiring harness. consumer has to give gas inorder to stay running, fuel pump presure low, dealer replaced fuel pump assembly. *tt
