Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet equinox. while driving at unknown speeds, the contact noticed that the oil was low. additional oil was added, and the check engine and oil indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to pinegar chevrolet in republic (769 u s 60, republic, mo 65738, (417) 233-0206) where it was diagnosed that the main seal was blown and the pvc needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact stated that the repairs should be covered under tsb number: 14882. the manufacturer was contacted and stated that an adjuster would verify the diagnosis. the failure mileage was 70,000.
Driving when the check egine light came on. took to the mechanic had no engine oil. not due for oil change either. o2 upstream replaced and pistons filled of carbon . mechanic advise to get rid of car b/c bad oil consumption, will crack engine eventually. car only has 70,000 miles
At random the car will idle rough drop rpms smell like it is loading up on fuel and die the car always restarts.
I own a 2013 chev. equinox that i purchased brand new. i used my local dealership for all my regular maintenance as recommended. somewhere around 60,000 miles i mentioned to my service tech that my car was making a knocking and ticking noise and appeared to be low on oil. he conducted the reg. oil change and said all looked good. my oil consumption continued to increase with no low oil indicator light ever coming on. i was having to add oil between reg. oil changes with no help from the dealership. at just over 100,000 miles, i mentioned to my service tech again that it was becoming a hassle always having to but oil in my car between services. he said he could do a oil consumption test, but gm would not do anything because it was outside the warranty. i informed him that i had mentioned it to him on several occasions just to learn he never made a note on my records about it. he changed the oil and asked me to come back after so many miles. i went back as requested knowing it was low because of the ticking noise and he said it was within the normal oil consumption based on gm. he then asked me to come back again after so many miles which i did. i know it was low because i checked it myself before going by and it was only showing on the tip of the dip stick. again he said the same thing about being within the normal consumption based on gm. he then added oil per my request. still at no point did my oil light ever come on. after getting no where with the dealership, i decided to no long have my oil changed by them. but still having to but 2-3 qts of oil in between oil changes and even changing the oil more often. i recently took my car to another mechanic to see if there was any leaks and he said that my engine is known to burn high amounts of oil and there is nothing he can do to help and recommended filing a complaint with gm.
On january 31 my equinox experienced a frozen pcv system, a known issue in 2010-2014 equinox vehicles. the engine developed an oil leak and excessive crankcase pressure which blew the rear main seal rendering my vehicle inoperable. i was on my way home from work, an approximate 10 mile drive, comprised of a short drive on a freeway and the majority of the trip on city streets. the problem started after i exited the freeway. i accelerated from a stop at a traffic signal and i noticed that my car sounded louder than usual. at just a few miles from my home trouble lights (traction control and engine) illuminated on my dash along with the "engine power is reduced" message. thinking i had a traction control issue i continued to drive to my home, a mere 2 city blocks. at that time the oil pressure message appeared on the screen. i was in my driveway and oil dropped where i stopped. i had my car towed to my mechanic and he informed me of this issue and what happened to my car.
Extreme cold temps (-20below), while driving heard popping sound, 2 miles later, car started to run rough went back home, oil was draining out. car was parked, put more oil in, drained right out. mechanic stated the crankshaft rear oil seal gasket had blown. this is referenced in gm sb14882. my vin wasn't covered even though what happened was exactly as stated in the sb. sb was updated on feb 4, 2019 (#19-na-021) , again i was still not covered. i had heard over 200 michigan equinox customers were in service due to same issue and the cold temperatures we were experiencing in michigan. the amount of oil i have to put in, 2 qrts every 2 weeks is also a concern.
My equinox reduced engine power while driving. prior to this there were no warning lights of any kind. i was told it was down 3 quarts of oil and that there was a leak from rear seal. my mechanic advised towing to the dealership as there are known problems of this in the equinox's as well as a "14882 special coverage adjustment" offered by general motors. this special adjustment are for those equinox's that experience high oil consumption and may experience a frozen or plugged positive crankcase ventilation system. this causes increase crankcase pressure leading to a rear crankshaft seal oil leak. if the oil leak is not noticed and condition is not corrected, continued driving can cause damage to the engine. gm stated on my receipt the cause of my problem was, "moisture froze in the pcv system causing the crankcase to overpressurize". however, my vin number was not included in this special coverage adjustment even though i was within the mileage and year. this is a major safety issue as i did not receive any warning lights of being low in oil and no engine pressure warning lights. there have been no recalls related to these issues.
Smelled burning oil in garage. checked under vehicle and noticed large puddle of oil and underside of rear engine soaked with it. towed to dealership of purchase. was notified that it was pcv value having moisture/condensation in it and freezing. this occurrence put pressure on the engine and seals. the rear seal connecting to the transmission is what failed. it was a cold day. the car was in a parking lot until end of shift. my wife said it did not start as fast as it normally does. there was not shuttering of the engine, no loud clacking sound and not one light icon lit up. i noticed a trail of oil into the garage in our driveway but no trail in the street. i assume it had just occurred when she was arriving home. she was braking to turn into our driveway. her route from work is primarily state roads with speeds of 35-55 mph and very often has deer crossing the roads as there are no road noise barriers or tall fencing. she arriving home at the normal time but i was able to pick up our sons. so she was able to just go home. the weather was cold (approx. 6-8 degrees). i have no reports, invoices or photos as the car is currently still in the shop since friday february 1st. today is wednesday february 6th 2019. i have found a lot of information online regarding this issue, tsb #14882. seems to be very common.
I do not know exactly when this happened indications by trials and spots of oil on the streets say that it happened after i returned home when i started to my next destination as described later. it was on city streets if this analysis is correct. i was likely going straight. this is a safety issue two reasons - the engine could lock up causing rapid deceleration and/or loss of control causing an accident - if i had been stranded at the temperatures of -4 to +9 degrees and wind chills -15 to -30 i would have been in danger. on wednesday january 30, 2019 left for work. the temperature was -4. after a short distance i stopped at my third stop sign and the engine surged while idling, at the next stop all seemed fine and from there to wok all seemed fine. i left work and drove 2.8 miles and the engine surged briefly and died. i drove about 27 miles home, no apparent problems. i drove to another location just over one mile away. on my way back home, about mile from home the engine reduced power notification appeared as well as a message about the traction control. just as i rounded the corner on which my house is the low oil pressure message came on. the rear main seal had blown out. this car has 67,477 miles. it was out of warranty 11/25/18. two mechanics said it is common in several gm vehicles. one said he could not believe the number of calls he got about this issue, because of the bulletin he was sending people to the dealership for coverage under a special warranty, he could not believe it when i told him chevy would not help me since my vin was not included since it is the same vehicle, same engine as those in the bulletin 14882, document id 4098165. my dealer said that he argued with gm that these are the same cars and engines but they would give no assistance. he said it was a bad design and there was nothing i could have done to prevent it.
Pvc valve froze and real main seal blew. causing the engine to empty the oil all over the parking. bulletin 14882. it's a very known problem caused by poor gm engineering and i feel they're too embarrassed to cover all vehicles. they only cover 'certain' ones. seems like most of us that experience this problem have to eat the cost and it has caused a huge strain on my family's daily commute routine and finances. alicia s. boler davis chevy's senior vp clearly isn't that sorry for our inconvenience as claimed in bulletin. bulletin 14882 should cover all vehicles in the years listed not just random ones. my equinox even lands in the warranty too of under 10year and 120,000miles. i know nhtsa is usually more concerned with vehicles failures while in motion as they can cause fatalities, but a lot of these seals go out during freezing weather from a blocked pvc. people could be left strands rs in below freezing conditions too long. also oil lost all over the road can cause slick roads. thank you nhtsa for a place to vent!
The pvc valve and oil system has a bad design. when driving in cold weather the valve blows and oil completely empties. the vehicle was in motion on both street and highway. my vehicle only had 69,400 miles and is a 4 cylinder
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet equinox. the contact stated that the engine power reduced warning indicator was flashing. sid dillon chevrolet fremont (2500 e 23rd st, fremont, ne 68025, (402) 512-1463) indicated that diagnostic testing was needed regarding the timing chain. the vehicle was at the dealer awaiting the contact's authorization to be repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 62,000.
Takata recall. while driving in cold weather on a highway, my car's check engine light came on. after getting off the freeway, it start to lurch when stopped at a light. a few moments later the oil light came on. i had to have the car towed and repair. the repair cost $1,800 for a blown oil seal. after research online i found that this is a common problem with this engine and pvc valve. chevy service bulletin no. 14882 date march 2015.
Driving down interstate 55, noticed oil on back window thought it was frost. arrived at destination and saw smoke coming from hood, looked underneath vehicle and noticed oil pouring out the underneath. no oil light or engine light ever came on even though i lost over 3 quarts of oil. had towed to dealership and they told me the pvc froze up and caused the rear main to blow out. cost me $2400, had15500 miles and followed all gm maintenance schedule.
Pcv valve bulletin 14882. car has been using excessive between oil changes. since it had 50k miles. at the time the dealer said per chevy .5 quarts is normal every 2500 miles. recently the oil has become very dirty and im adding between 1 quart every 1000 miles. took it to a mechanic said it appears to be related. went to chevy dealer and said this bulletin does not apply to my vin. its within the same years, same issue but chevy will not cover it (spoke to chevy directly).
January 22nd 2019 my way to work at the last traffic light the car lurched forward with my foot on the brake i pulled in work and parked i left at 5:30 p.m remote started i was walking to my car it was loud i got in warning message to turn car off that the oil pressure was too low. called aaa waited three hours in the cold with bronchitis and asthma called my mechanic i was having the car towed to his garage. january 25 mechanic said he thinks due to a frozen pcv valve there was pressure build up car spit the oil out he put oil in my car let it warm up he thought i should still have the dealer look at it. i drove the car not far to the dealer ganley rep came to waiting area told me the pcv valve froze and the high pressure blew my rear crankshaft seal the oil spilled out my battery was shot repair just under $ 2000.00 he said this fault did damage to my timing chain no guarantee how long the timing chain would hold recommended replacing $ 1500.00 i said do the seal and battery. i went home did google search equinox 2013 pcv sp. cov. bulletin 14882 popped up it covered equinoxes between 2010-2014 not my vin. rep called said gm is willing to help me with the timing chain authorized it for $500.00. i told him what that bulletin said is exactly what happened with my car. picked up my car monday 02/04/19 and paid $ 2606.76. on 02/06/19 i called chevy spoke to rep duke who gave me a reference number # 9-5037906721 told me a higher-level rep from chevy would call me. on 02/07/19 adam called and said the phone call was being recorded. he said in a nice way that chevy had already helped with $ 1000.00 towards the timing chain and i should be grateful for that because they were not going to help anymore. i told him this shouldn't have happened. is this verbatim for the call no but then again, i wasn't working off a script or recording the phone call like chevy is.
Pcv (pressurized crank case ventilation) system froze due to cold climate and poor design of the system.this issue caused the rear main seal of the motor to over pressurize which led to failure of the seal causing the motor to lose oil. the vehicle was in motion at time of the failure on a city street . the motor in my vehicle is not covered by general motors, but all other 2.4l motors of this type are under some kind of coverage for the pcv system failure by gm. the defect with this motor is wide spread and gm is doing nothing to fix the problem. the motor is designed in a way as to if the rear main seal is compromised a large amount of work must be done to repair the problem. like removing the transmission and intake manifold from vehicle. this adding up to a large repair bill for the consumer for a problem that should be fixed by gm.
While driving my 2013 chevrolet equinox in single digit temperatures, the engine light came on. within two miles, the car stalled. it would not restart. the cause was a defective pcv system that gm has documented in service bulletin 14882 dated march 2015. during cold weather operation, condensation freezes and plugs the pcv (positive crankcase ventilation) system. this condition causes an immediate increase in the crankcase pressure and blows out the rear seal. once the rear seal is lost, oil immediately purges out of the engine. this known design flaw caused $8,500 in damages. i had to replace the entire engine, intake manifold, seals on the injector rail, spark plugs, flex plate, balancer, thermostat housing and tube assembly. this 5.5 year old car only had 54,500 miles on it when this failure occurred. it also left the driver stranded in subzero wind chill temperatures.
Due to a frozen pcv system and the high pressure, my rear crankshaft seal started to leak oil. my car is inoperable at this time. my car is also eating away oil where i would have to get frequent oil changes.
Jan 21'st, 2019 my car stalled while driving. pvc froze up in air intake and the orifice in my intake manifold was blocked. blew rear main seal and lost all the oil in the car. timing chain skipped when no oil pressure was present to keep timing chain tight. service bulletin 14882. gm says my vin is not covered. i have photos and videos of proof of issue. i am from canada, so i used a ghost state and postal to get this complaint posted. i live in smithville, ontario, canada. bring gm to come good for all this.
The pvc valve froze causing the rear main seal to blow. this has now caused damage to the engine. the engine needs to be replaced along with the exhaust manifold. the total cost from the dealer is quoted at $7200.00. this vehicle also used large amounts of oil. i was driving on a city street when this occurred. the chevy only has 80,000 miles on it.
Vehicle stopped unexpectedly no system warning and then check engine light came on. the mechanic says the steel shavings were going into head gasket from over oil comsuption.
My vehicle stalled at slow speeds. when gas pedal pressed the vehicle would rock back and forth then die. very dangerous because it happened on the freeway. a year ago my vehicle was part of the oil consumption issues and the pistons and rings were changed. now the 'i take camshaft solenoid' is affected possibly causing the current issue. i have done research and see that many people have had the same issues with the same vehicles. why would something like this not be a recall?? it happened last year as well and was told that by changing the pistons and rings that that would solve the problem. apparently it didn't.
This vehicle is burning oil excessively. for every 1000 miles its burning 2 qts. of oil. general motors is aware of this issue on other model years but for some reason wont acknowledge it on this one. this vehicle has the same issue as the others.
There is an issue with excessive oil consumption. it causes the engine to run low on oil at about 30% oil life left, and the engine shudders and shakes. this can cause problems with other parts and cause them to fail as well.
At 87000 miles the engine had timing issue and valves mad piston contact. at 90000 miles engine had pcv valve freeze up and push main seal out of engine. both are known recall issues but according to chevy my vin isn't included in these recalls. the engine is now using 2 quarts per thousand miles. i have spoke with chevy reps and been told to basically pay for a new engine. i don't feel this is right since these are all known faults and there have been several lawsuits over the issues. i have paid over 5000 dollars for repairs on a engine that doesn't even have 100,000 miles. i have worked in the service industry for over 15 years and i know there are things that dealers can do to make this right with the customer. i would like to know how i am supposed to trust this engine with my families safety, the vehicle will either stall out and cause an accident or have a oil fire under the hood.
Engine failure no oil in engine rear seal defective no warning lights of no oil in engine gm covering up multiple engine oil failures the class action lawsuit doesnt go far enough should extend warranties and issue recalls my warrenty expired 8-31-2018, engine blow out aprox 12-24-2018, almost 4 months after warranty period my engine blow out engine is damaged was no oil in engine i get regular oil changes no warning light i take good care of my vehicles never known a vehicle to burn off all the oil , as well as the rear seal was defective. i was driving the vehichile engine oil presure drop just got off of the highway lucky my engine didnt blow out while on the highway. no egine oil pressure light came on the oil filter was crushed. these engines are defective and danderious no warning prior to casteraphic engine failure do to manufacture defect almost 4 months after power train warranty expired. vehicle in motion just pulled off of highway ,to off ramp going onto city street main engine seal found defective by mechanic i have the part and proof.
My 2013 chevrolet equinox with 90,000 miles which is a couple months out of powertrain warranty has been eating oil. i discovered this when i took my vehicle in after it began to shake violently. this should not have happened because i recently got an oil change. this place gave me an oil change and one month later my equinox started shaking again and is out of oil. and like others the engine never turned on! i took it to the dealership and they tell me i need repairs costing $3500 to get new pistons/rings among other things. while there i talk to the lady next to me. she has the same vehicle same year and the same problem. i look at carcomplaints.com and they say the #1 problem with the model is this. the chevrolet equinox 2013 model year is rated the worst year for equinox because of repair costs. the dealership solution: bring the vehicle in every 1000 miles to get more oil. there should be a recall. why has there not been one? the consumers should not have to fit the bill for $3400 for something the manufacturer is at fault for. i personally do not see how i can bring the vehicle in that often as i drive 60 miles a day to and from work. any assistance i can get would be appreciated. i am still paying on this vehicle!
December 18, 2018 i purchased a 2013 equinox following leasing the vehicle for a year. over the years it has consumed oil more than expected; however, it now burns approximately 3 qts of oil every 2k miles. i have contacted multiple chevy dealerships in my area and they have all told me i would need to bring the vehicle in for an 'oil consumption test' which i would have to pay for. any repairs required following the test would also be at my expense. after reading all of the reviews and comments i now believe chevrolet knew about the problem and is doing nothing about it. i do not plan purchasing a chevy or gmc vehicle again.
Takata recall my 2013 is having problem with exhaust system from converter back which the smell is backing up into the inside cabin of vehicle. i have noticed that this must be a common problem on these vehicles (equinox). i have relatives that are experiencing the same problem with their 2010''s. i noticed the problem because the vehicle started sounding loud when parked and when taking off no speed, compared to when i first purchased. i take very good care of my vehicle....regular oil changes and no major work needed done since my purchase.
600 mile trip for christmas. car would idle rough at stops and stalled numerous times as starting out. the root cause is excessive oil consumption on this direct fuel injection gm 2.4 liter engine. gm has known about this problem and has put out a tsb extending the warranty for 2011-2012 models with this problem, but are making it extremely difficult for consumers to take advantage of this warranty work. the internet car forums are full of consumers complaining about this defect and gm's lack of concern in addressing the issue. i hope it doesn't take someone being killed before the problem is resolved. the engine defect is known to effect a percentage of chevy equinoxes, gm terrains and several other gm models from the 2010through 2017 model years. google search chevy equinox "excessive oil consumption."
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet equinox. the contact stated that the vehicle was using an excessive amount of oil. the dipstick reading was at a low level and oil had to be added. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact scheduled a service appointment with robbins chevrolet (18611 highway 59 n, humble, tx 77338, (281) 446-3021). the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 9-5020307544. the failure mileage was 61,000. *dt *dt*jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet equinox. while the vehicle was idling, an abnormal noise was heard from the engine compartment and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to friendly auto sales (5800 s zarzamora st, san antonio, tx 78211, (210) 927-4300) where it was diagnosed that the camshaft failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the barometric pressure sensor, intake air humidity sensor, sensor reference voltage a, intake air temperature sensor circuit low p11c2 , mask or volume air flow a, intake air temperature sensor two circuit low p0097, 90113 intake air one circuit high input, and p11c2 intake air humidity sensor circuit low voltage failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 74,986.
Just as everyone else has stated, my 2013 equinox is burning oil and stalls at slow speeds or a stop. i took it to my dealership several times towards the end of my 5 year extended warranty, and they kept "fixing things". the most recent fix was one month after my extended warranty ended, and the repairs were close to $4,000. this repair involved replacing pistons/rings and replacing the timing chain. the very next day following this expensive repair, i drove it to work and it stalled 14 times, due to slowing/stopping of rush-hour. i almost had an accident merging onto the highway, because other drivers assumed i was "moving with the flow" and they don't stop. i immediately called the dealership... they have my car now and said they will look at it and "try something else". over several few months prior to this, they did the oil consumption test, reset the timing chain, and a bunch of other things (it was still under the 5-yr extended warranty then). i asked why there was no recall?, and they told me because none of this was safety-related. how is this not safety issue?! as i mentioned, they currently have my vehicle, and i fear what the repairs will be for another attempt as solving the problem. i feel like the dealership is trying their best, but perhaps their hands are tied. if the nhtsa determines this not to be a safety issue, then it certainly should be considered fraud on behalf of chevy corporation.
Oil indicator and screen flashed message to sop car immediately. i was on the freeway and forced to try to get to the berm. i had to get out of the car and walk to the store from the freeway to purchase oil. a new oil change had just been performed 2000 miles before so the car wasn't due for an oil change yet. this car has the ecotec 2.4 liter engine and is consuming oil at an alarming rate. it consumed 3.5 quarts within 2000 miles. this could result in sudden engine failure on the freeway or elsewhere.
On oct. 23, 2018, engine light came on in the morning. called onstar in afternoon for code;onstar did not provide code but said it should be serviced asap and made appointment at nearby dealership for next morning. that evening when braking to leave a parking area, the engine completely died/stalled out. had car towed to dealer. dealer replaced solenoid sensor.
My vehivle has been shutting off randomly. i came to a stop at an intersection today and i hit the gas because my light turned green and my vehicle just shut off, right in the middle of the intersection. i had cars behind me. the light is turning red, so i have the opposite lanes traffic getting ready to go, and there i was stuck in the middle. luckilyi was able to get it started again and get out of the oncoming traffics way. my vehicle has been randomly doing this for about 2 weeks now and my check engine light finally came on yesterday. i had it checked and codes p0010 and p0011 came up. after doing some research, i came across other people who are having the exact same issue. a lot of people! how has this not been recalled? esoecially when it puts the driver and any passengers in harms way. i have my kids afraid to ride in the car because they are afraid the car will shut down and we will get into an accident. and they have every right to be because what they are afraid of could have happened to me today.
Having issues with my chevy's timing belt. this seems to be a known issue for gm and they refuse to do anything to fix it. they keep blaming it on oil consumption.
My 2013 chevrolet equinox started consuming excessive amounts of oil. my car was at the randy reed gm dealership service department and i was advised that there has been a problem with the equinox reported regarding this issue. i was advised that i would need to have my vehicle undergo an oil consumption test at 1000 and 2000 mile increments before gm would pay for the repair. when i took the car back at the 2000 check, it was discovered that it was using oil. it was 3 quarts low. i was then advised by the service department that only the 2012 equinox model was covered for this problem. gm paid for the same repair on the 2012 model but has not issued any special circumstance for the 2013 although they are aware that the problem continues on the 2013 model. the dealership advised that they were having problems getting the parts due to the number of defective parts needing to be replaced. i spoke with gm customer service and was advised although she "sympathized with me" gm would not pay for the repair. it is a known defect in the vehicles but gm is choosing to ignore the other model years. the vehicle will continue to use oil at an excessive rate and is subject to causing the engine to fail or catch fire if the repair is not performed.
I purchased this vehicle new and have maintained the recommended service as advised. vehicle has used excessive amounts of oil between oil changes for the last 2 years and no one can seem to find out where it is going. listed problem date as today but this has been ongoing..... have also had to have the exhaust manifold replaced on 3 occasions and no one seems to be able to tell me why on that either? seems with all the complaints there should be a recall in the works!
When driving to work today, i was in the middle of parking my car. the car cut off before i could completely park. it started right back up then cut back off. i took my chances and drove it to the nearest dealership. every time i came to a complete stop the car would cut off i.e red lights, stop signs, heavy traffic. which became extremely dangerous. i dropped my car off at the dealership and i noticed that there were several vechicals that were the same model / make as mines waiting to be serviced. also serveral of my relatives who has the same car as mine has told me that they are experiencing the same issue. the dealerships all across town are out of loaner cars and can't get to mine until next week. 3 people i know took their vehicle to be serviced and each were told they needed a tune up. after receiving the tune up the problem still remained. all of our check engine lights are on.
Vehicle timing chain broke 3 months out of warranty. i had 57,000 miles on the car. chevrolet refused to acknowledge a problem or pay for any repair costs. the vehicle (including the power steering) completely stalled out while i was turning off a busy state highway on a holiday weekend. i was stranded in the lane of traffic until i was safely able to get a couple of good samaritans to assist with physically pushing it off the road.
The check engine light turned on at around 135,000 miles. following that, the vehicle began losing power, the rpms started to randomly spike up, and it began consuming a lot of oil. when idling or coming to a top the vehicle will turn off or begin shaking really bad and then turn off. i have contacted the chevy dealer and there is nothing they will do about it.
Bought 2013 equinox 6/14/18 with 50k miles. on 8/14/18 while driving home on the interstate the car just shut down (scary situation with a big rig bearing down on you still have nightmares about it) . i was able to restart it and drove 12 miles home as it shut down 8 more times. on 8/15/18 drove the car 1 block away from home when the check engine light came on. went to my mechanic and it read p0011 intake camshaft position timing code. on 8/16/18 when mechanic changed part realized there was no oil on the dip stick.no oil light came on for not having any oil. car has 52k miles on it and the oil was changed the day i bought it. where did all the oil go in less then 3k miles. i an now reading that this is an issue and will have to carry a case of oil to check every week now. if gm knows this is an issue why haven't they done anything to correct this..
My vehicle has been burning oil at an alarming rate - i have to add a quart of oil every few hundred miles, on top of being diligent about changing my oil every 3,000 miles (fully synthetic too). when i do not add a quart of oil every 10 days or so, my car stalls while idling, knocks, and/or rides "rough". i've also noticed the engine idles lower than normal. if i press on the gas lightly, the car will stall. if i press on the gas with more pressure, the car will shift into 2nd gear earlier than normal and roughly (if that makes sense). i've had the car into the mechanic 4 times for same issue.
Engine stalls while driving. specifically, the car would occasionally starts up in "stall mode", that its rpm would be lower than normal (~500rpm vs ~1000 normally); in such stall mode, the engine and entire car would shake significantly on idle/stopped-with-brake, and would 100% stall by letting go of brake pedal without stepping on gas pedal; if gas pedal is stepped on but not enough, engine would stall, otherwise, if gas pedal is stepped on hard enough, the car can change from 1st gear into 2nd in a very rough manner, you can feel it physically sitting in the car, then the car would perform normally as long as car stay above 2nd gear with enough rpm. car stalled in the middle of busy intersection / crossroad left turning.
82k miles on the vehicle and am having to put 2-3 quarts of oil in car between oil changes. check engine light is coming on every few hundred miles now and the oil dipstick is dry. i fill up with approximately 2 quarts and the engine is fine until another 200-300 miles when the check engine light comes on again and the dipstick is dry again. had this issue last year in may in tx and the technician stated that the gasket was bad and they replaced that. car ran fine for almost a year and now i can not go over 1000 miles without putting in quarts of oil.
Burning oil very badly while driving.
Immediately upon starting the car the cabin is filled with exhaust fumes while in park. the exhaust manifold is cracked as in many other 2010-2016 chevy equinox. this is dangerous and unacceptable on these vehicles, as carbon monoxide is being pumped into the cabin.
My car is burning oil in between oil changes. i am not aware of it until my car starts to rattle. a mechanic told me that my car has "excessive oil consumption". i have to put 2-4 quarts of oil in my car between oil changes. this is noticeable during the acceleration period. the safety risk is this may destroy my engine costing me thousands of dollars to repair.
