I bought a 2016 chevrolet cruz ng on september 7, 2016. on september 10, 2019, i took my vehicle to the chevrolet agency to check the water filtering of the 3 light stop of the car, it leaked water again after the repair of the recall n162064340 . on this visit i was notified that the car had a recall of the steering system (recall n182201620) which presents a failure in the packaging of the steering box causing moisture to enter the part and deactivate the power steering. after checking the car the agency indicated that there was no problem with the steering system and the agency closed the recall n182201620. on november 5, 2019, when i started my vehicle and put it in drive, the steering system was deactivated, preventing me from turning, i immediately stopped the vehicle, and the board threw a message 'the power steering has been deactivated, drive with caution', the steering wheel is completely hard and it is not possible to manipulate it. i contacted the agency and the car was towed to the chevrolet workshop at my cost, the agency analyzed the fault and responded that it was not related to recall ...
Was driving on the freeway exiting the offramp that curves to the right. when i turned the steering wheel it locked up and the stereo turned off. i had no control over the direction my vehicle was traveling. i applied my brake, to keep from hitting another vehicle. when i pressed my brake the steering wheel unlocked briefly then locked again. then a yellow ⚠️ warning light illuminated and my car began to pull to the right. the stereo powered on and the steering wheel returned to normal. the yellow warning ⚠️ light turned off. i continued to travel another 1.5-2 miles more to my home and it happened again. this time a green dash light illuminated and said service power steering. i parked my car at that point. i am contacting the dealership to make arrangements for repair. the reason why i am filing a complaint is because of the danger associated with this type of malfunction. it put my life and other drivers life is at stake. this is not an acceptable way for a vehicle to function. this is not the only time i've had an electrical issue with my vehicle. in october 2018 after driving ...
Everything on the dash shut off. heat and air shut off. service stability track warning comes on. engine fan running all the time. steering locks.
Sometimes while driving, if you hit the brake or hit the window switch, the power to the radio panel and drivers display will cut off, sometimes the "service stabilitrac" signal will come up and the power will come back on after a few seconds, when this happens it will also cut power to the power steering, if you are not prepared for it or your not aware of the situation it can surprise you, it can be especially startling while turning and all of a sudden power cuts out and you have trouble steering, the car will stay running and the power will cut for a few seconds, and then everything will go back to normal. looking online this seems to be a common issue with the earlier chevy cruz. i am just not sure of the full extent of the issue.
