Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

I have a 2006 chevy colbalt. the car constantly stalls in traffic. i took it to the machanic and he stated it was an electrical problem that is very common in this make and model car. the mechanic diagnosed it as a high speed communication bus which is part of the throttle body and that's why is stalls. aka fly by wire. have had two recalls. we are having so many problems with this vehicle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet cobalt. the contact stated that the key would become stuck in the ignition. the manufacturer was notified of the failure, but denied any assistance with repairs to the vehicle. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 65,000 and the current mileage was 72,000. updated 12/01/11 *bf the consumer stated the key would get stuck in the ignition and there was no release button to remove it. the consumer stated he would have to leave the vehicle on, or leave the key in the ignition and disconnect the battery. the consumer also stated the power steering failed a times and the speedometer did not work and the windows wouldn't roll down. updated 12/08/11 updated 12/12/11 the consumer stated the brake does not have to be applied to shift out of park. the consumer experienced other problems due to the problem with the ignition. updated 12/15/11

After parking car and shutting off the ignition the key will get stuck and not come out. this has happened several times. you have to either turn the ignition back on or jiggle the key around in the slot in order for it to release.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet cobalt. while driving approximately 30 mph the electronic door locks began to open and close erratically. the steering wheel became stiff making it difficult to control the vehicle. the contact stated the power steering failed and the steering wheel needed excessive effort to turn the steering wheel while driving. the contact was able to drive the vehicle to her residence. there were warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel but the contact was unaware of which ones illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not repaired. there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 10v073000 (steering:electric power assist system) that may be related to the failure. the manufacturer was not contacted to verify if the vin was included in the recall. the approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

I was driving home one rainy day, about 45mph, dash lit up to shift. i looked and i was already in 5th. next second everything on dash went out. no speedometer, no shift light, no mileage or trip meter, nothing. only thing on dash that works is tach and digital display says power steering. already had an appointment for recall work for power steering assist motor, thought that maybe that was what was wrong so i kept appointment. when got back from dealer, they tell me they replaced power steering assist motor and they had noticed the dash display and had done scan and it showed the power steering motor is went out! bought this car for my daughter, to drive back in forth to school, scared for her to drive it the 90 miles a day she drives to college. thought this was just an isolated case but after checking online, i see that this is a major defect in these cars. something needs done before someone gets hurt or killed. *tr

When driving or at idle 2006 cobalt will stall when the heater or air conditioning is turned on. loss of power steering is lost as well as all other power. when the heater or air conditioner is turned off car will start again. there are no engine codes displayed. *tr

About 3 years ago i started to get a thumping noise in the front end of the 2006 cobalt. i asked a mechanic what it could be and they gave me a couple things it might be also gave me idea on cost. being a single mom of two and the thumping was not to bad i did not have the money to repair. as time went on got louder and worse. so, i brought it in to have problem fixed it was the lower tie arms and something else went bad and cost me almost $1000 to fix. i looked online and found many 2006 cobalt owners say they have the same issue but was told by gm was not a safety issue so they were not recalling car it was our problem. i have noticed the lights on the dash sometime dim so low you can not see them then they will brighten again even after replacing the battery. over this winter i started to get a humming in the steering column and asked my mechanic to look he told me i have electric power steering they could not fix. i got the recall about the ignition switch and was doing as they said and only driving with key and nothing else. but now every time i stopped i was checking key to make sure it was in place and a few times it had moved slightly but did not kick it out of the on position. if i had not checked it, it probably would have with all the pot holes. then on april 6th 2014 on my way home from work (which is 24 miles away from home). when i was turning to go on the highway the steering wheel was humming again(i had no clue that there was any problems with steering columns at this point) i got onto the highway and the dash light came on and a dinging sound started and i had to fight, the car to the side of the road. i turned the car off then turned it on to see if it stopped and was able to get home. looked online to see if others where having this issue and found tons of 2006 cobalt owners having issue. that is when i saw they are recalling 2010's for it not 2006.

I own a 2006 chevrolet cobalt ls sedan. this car every year like clock work has to either have a new transmission put into it, or has shifting problems. the car will be fine for about a year and then it struggles to shift gears and it will be subtle. then it slowly starts to feel like the transmission is " slipping" when u reverse and then put it back into drive it slides back before it begins to move forward again. this car is only 5 years old but has had 3 transmissions in it's life time, and it's starting to feel like it's going for its 4th. *tr

Key gets stuck in ignition and can not get it out. has been doing this for years. takes several minutes to just get the key out. sometime have to keep keys in car overnight. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet cobalt. the contact stated that the key became lodged in the ignition. the failure drained the battery until the vehicle shut down completely. the contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer where he was advised that the steering column would need a new key cylinder. the dealer stated that if the key cylinder was not replaced, then the vehicle would continue to shut down in the future. the contact believed that the failure was a known safety issue with the year make and model due to the numerous reports found via the internet. the failure mileage was 98,461.

I have a 2006 cobalt. periodically i can't open the driver door from inside and i have to roll down the window to pull handle from outside to get out. and then fuss with the latch mechanism sometimes to get the door to shut. and right now my locks are going up and down by themselves while i drive and when i'm parked.. i lock my doors and i come out to my car and they are unlocked. and i can't disengage my alarm...soo every time i open the door i have to jump in and turn on the ignition. i called the local chevy dealer and of course they haven't heard any complaints like this. although, i've read many complaints like this.. they tell me if i want to bring it in, i have to pay for them to diagnose it! i'm still making payments on this car! *js

As i was coming to stop at a red light, i heard a ding and "power steering" flashed on my dashboard. my car then started to jerk, and continued when i sped up. this has happened several times after the first incident. *tr

I bought my 2006 cobalt brand new and it now has 66,000 miles on it. at about 15,000 miles the key locked in the ignition and shifting gears became almost impossible (automatic transmission). it was under warranty so i took it to the dealer and they replaced the shifter assembly. now today (2/3/11) i wasn't having any problems with my car until i started it and couldn't press the shifter button in to put it out of park. it stayed stuck in park. when i tried to take the key out, it stayed stuck in acc. i was able to manually take it out by pressing the "plunger" under the steering wheel. called the dealer and had to tow my car there. again, my shifter assembly has to be replaced with a total cost (after towing, diagnostics, labor, and parts) of $450 out-of-pocket. due to a cheap plastic piece in the gear shift. ridiculous. *tr

I noticed issues starting shortly after we bought the vehicle in 08 with the door locks erratically locking and unlocking themselves. my husband fixed the issue by disconnecting the electric locks. then in january of 2011 the car completely stalled while turning. we started it up and got it home. we went through all kinds of things figuring out what was wrong. we changed the catalytic converter, spark plugs, and manifold gasket.it was running fine for a while but still at idle it felt like it was going to stall. then one day it wouldn't start at all and the key got stuck in the ignition. we jumped the vehicle and the key came out. then we got the codes read at auto zone and found we needed a ignition coil. so we replaced that. ran good but the stalling feeling at idle was still present. then the key got stuck in the ignition again and the shifter button was pushed in and the shifter would move without using the brake.i found people have had all these issues online and found the release switch. i used this switch and the shifter is back to normal. we have a limited income and we cant afford all of these issues, but it seems that they are all very common with these cars. *tr

When the car is shifted to park and the engine is shut down, the key cannot be removed from the ignition. the ignition is locked in the on or acc. position, if the key is left in place, the battery is drained. there have been instances where the doors will not lock with the key in the ignition and the ignition in the on position. when the car is in this condition, it cannot be left unattended because everyone has access to the car. *tr

2006 chevrolet cobalt. consumer writes in regards to ignition switch and other vehicle problems and unsatisfactory customer service at dealership. *smd the consumer stated the vehicle would not shut off for about 10 minutes after she switched the ignition to the off position and removed the key. the consumer stated while driving, the vehicle suddenly ran out of gas. there was no warning. the very same day, she received a recall notice in the mail regarding an issue with the fuel pump. also, the consumer discovered the batter exploded, when an odor began to come inside the vehicle. also, the engine light illuminated, the ac and heat did not work, the dash lights worked occasionally, the transmission was slipping and the interior was falling apart. *jb the vehicle overheated, the ac compressor failed. while driving on the highway, the vehicle stalled. then something went wrong with the battery and toxic fumes from the battery in the trunk were being sucked into the vehicle. the consumer exited the vehicle, opened the trunk and hot battery acid was all over the place. updated 09/08/14

Tl* the contact owns 2006 chevrolet cobalt. the contact stated that after receiving repairs under nhtsa campaign: 10v073000 (steering: electric power assist), the vehicle began stalling sporadically and the power steering warning light illuminated. the dealer advised that the failure could have been caused by the wiring harness under the dashboard which he discovered was corroded. the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice yet the dealer was unable to pinpoint the failure and could only suggest that it was the wiring harness, which was not repaired. the vin was unavailable. the failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 68,000. updated 04/15/11*lj the consumer stated the dealer kept the vehicle for a week to correct the problem. the vehicle is currently operating in a normal manner. updated 11/04/11

I have a 2006 cobalt and the key was stuck in the ignition. the car could not be put into park. the car was basically in neutral. i had to leave my car in the "on" position over night. i had to have my car fixed at vann chevy in carrollton tx and had to pay $640.00 for the repair. i had to get the whole shifter replaced from the shift button to the floor. chevy contacted me today and stated that they would not reimburse me for the problem. chevy stated at this point it is not a recall even though people all over the country have had the same problem. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colbalt lt. the contact stated that within a week after he purchased the vehicle the electrical system completely failed. the vehicle was repaired by the sales center, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 93,000 and the current mileage is 105,000. updated 07.20.11

Car would cut off when steering wheel was tilted and at times key would not come out of ignition. *tr

Car would no start on first attempt--stereo and all electrical components in car turn on, but car does not start at all.got back into car about 10 minutes later, tried again--started right up. while driving, all gauges would drop all the way to zero and all electrical inside car goes dead. upon parking, car would not immediately restart. got electrical test at auto parts store, told it was reading bad battery--so i replaced battery at that time. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet cobalt. the contact stated that the vehicle was parked with the key stuck in the ignition switch. the contact was unable to remove the key from the ignition switch after numerous attempts. the contact then engaged the emergency ignition key release and was able to remove the key from the ignition. in addition, the gear shift selector would not lock into any desired gear. the contact noticed a four inch pin lying across the bottom of the gear shift box. she was uncertain if the pin loosened and then completely detached from a device within the gear shift box area. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was unavailable.

I was driving my cobalt all of a sudden the rpm's red lined and i had no power. i had to coast into a nearby parking lot. i waited about 30 min, started it back up and it seemed fine. then i started to have trouble getting my key out of the ignition. there were several times i had to leave my key in the ignition because it would not come out. the next problem came when i would hit the brakes. if someone in front of me suddenly stopped and i had to hit the brakes hard, the car would idle really rough and shut off. that has been a constant problem for the past 2 to 3 years. i called the local koons dealership, they told me these problems were common and that i needed a new bcm. so, i purchased a new bcm. the service department told me that the bcm was "plug and play". basically, it was a few clips, a few bolts and that i could install it myself, so i did. it didn't solve the problem. i called back and the guy that answered the phone told me to unhook the battery and wait 15 minutes, then hook it back up. not only did it not solve the problem, but by unhooking the battery the anti-theft locked my radio. when i called back the third time the service department told me i needed to bring the car in and have them reset it for 300$. being as thought i just spent 300$ on the bcm i didn't have the money. i bought the cobalt because it was a chevy and a small reliable car. i was also a college student so the price was right. since the recall for the ignition switch has come out, i called the koons dealership and asked about a refund on the bcm because that obviously wasn't the problem. they told me i was out of luck and they weren't going to help me. now, i have a death trap, im out the money for the bcm, and i don't have money for a new car. thanks for sticking it to your customers gm! i will never by another gm. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet cobalt. the contact stated that when the gear was placed into park the key will not release from the ignition,to release the key he places the gear into park several times until the key releases. the vehicle will be taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. the vin was not available. the failure mileage 75,000 and the current mileage was 77,000.

Power steering message appeared within a few days of having it serviced due to the power steering recall. power steering message appears all the time (almost every time i drive it). sometimes power steering message appears and car starts jerking and is hard to steer). when that happens i have to pull over and shut the car off and restart it. sometimes this works but occassionally it doesn't. a couple of times i have went to back out of my parking spot at work and have not been able to turn the wheel at all. i have contacted the dealer where it was serviced and chevy and basically was told that they couldn't help me unless i took it to have the problem diganosed at my expense (70- 200 and something dollars), and "if" it is related to the power steering recall they may help me with the cost of the repair. i don't think i should have to pay to have the problem diagnosed when their solutiion to their recall didn't fix the problem. my key has gotten stuck in the ignition a couple of times. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet cobalt. the contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without any warning which in turn made the steering and brakes to stop working. as a result, she was unable to stop the vehicle and crashed into the vehicle in front of her. a police report was filed. the driver sustained neck dysplasia, bruising, and contusions. the child seated in the rear passenger seat sustained a bruise on her forehead. the vehicle was destroyed. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure and current mileage was 55,000.

2006 chevy cobalt ls: power steering failure, as well as tach & speedometer fluctuations. transmission shifts rough. engine light is on, as well as an icon that looks like a car with a lock on it. all this happened at one time...between the time i parked it after work (no problems), til i went out and started it again to go to the store. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet cobalt. the contact stated that while the gear selector was in the park position, the ignition key would not release. the contact could only remove the key when engaging the ignition key release switch. the failure occurred whenever the ignition was placed in the ignition. an authorized dealer was notified of the failure and stated that failure was a common problem. the failure had not been diagnosed or repaired when the complaint was filed. the failure mileage was 82,000. updated 10/15/10 bf updated 10/21/10*jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet cobalt. while parked, the contact was unable to release the key from the igtion switch after numerous attempts. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who advised the contact to have the vehicle inspected by a dealer. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 90,000. the vin was unavailable.

All of my electrical components go crazy including the gauges, radio, headlights, power breaks/ steering. the car also stalls upon stopping and in traffic(usually going over 40mph). it has stalled several times in traffic causing other cars to swerve or slam on their brakes. im shocked i haven't been hit yet. then the car will also overaccelarate. on one occasion i barely touched the gas to pull away from a stop sign and the car accelerated very quickly through the intersection and into the park across the street. after all this happens the battery will die and the key will get stuck in the ignition. the same basic cycle occurs every few months. i have had it to the dealership four times this week alone and each time it acts up again within hours. they do not seem to have any idea how to fix it either. *tr

I see there are issues on the fuel module on the 2006 chevy cobalts, and i took it to get replaced however when i take my car to get diagnosed it continues to say there is something with a misfire, and my fuel evaporating. i am having multiple problems with my 06 cobalts and has i have done extenuous research and every problem i've found online over 1000 complaints and blogs, and sites where customers are all complaining about the same issue. i am a working college student and drive to work and school everyday. my car stopped on the freeway the other day, and almost caused an accident however the vehicle slammed on their brakes. not only the fuel line but also my car key does not come out the ignition. all these issues are ongoing and i have found over 10,0000 unsatisfied consumers all with the same issues with the cobalts. this is a big issue, and i am tired of dealing with chevrolet as this is there product and they are only trying to get the money and make you pay for all the services. these are major issues all going out at the same time. *tr

In april 2010 my daughter's 2006 chevy cobalt's clutch was replaced. there was about 38,500 miles on the vehicle. all the regular maintenances where done to keep this car in shape. the total of the repair was 1400.00 dollars doubled that of the chevy cavalier. yesterday on may 17th she was driving on a busy street in albuquerque, new mexico around 5pm traffic time. her vehicle just stopped went dead with no warning, she was almost rear ended. the car's battery is good and she had about half tank of gas so those weren't the problems. she pushed it into the nearest parking lot and waited but the car would not turn over. there is no sound when she turns the car on, this is insane with the problems we have with this vehicle within a three year period. the dealers do not care about the cost we are putting into this vehicle but something has to be done to help the consumers. my other daughter has the same year and make of her sister' cobalt they were bought on the same day. her vehicle is an automatic and her power steering is going out already. there has to be something we could do as frustrated consumers. *tr

2006 chevrolet cobalt, remote control system not good quality. i have two keys when bought the car. just pass the 3 years, one key cannot unlock the car while can only lock the car. another key works well. compared my another toyota car, already 7 years, the key only need replace battery and work. but cobalt key electronic part worn out. *tr

2006 chevy cobalt-power steering stops working and at same time transmission shifts very hard. left front turn signal intermittently works. all problems are related to chevy cobalts electrical wiring and circuitry. dangerous to drive and unreliable. there is no pattern and all problems have occurred in the last year approximately six times. *tr

I own a 2006 chevrolet cobalt. well to begin, i initially had an issue with my shift column, which i researched and found out it was a common issue with this vehicle. it would cause my key to get stuck in the ignition. i took it to the delearship and they replace the whole column. then a a couple of week later, my vehicle was accelerating really fun, i just blew it off for a moment, until i then tried to put my car in reverse one day, and it would not go anywhere. i took it to the delearship and they told me my transmission is slipping, at 86,000 miles. the dealearship has my car, and is trying to figure out if it's even worth fixing. im also wondering if this problem could have been caught the intial time they fixed the vehicle, and figured it was my shifting column, because even with my transmission slipping, it also affected the shifting column. one other problem i have had with the vehicle is the air bag sensor, i have not got this fixed yet, because the dealearship wants to charge $99 just to see exactly what's causing my airbag sensor to not come on, when i have passengers with me.

I was driving to a different state, and about 3 hours into the drive, i stopped for gas. after shutting the car off, i was unable to remove the key from the ignition. i was able to release the key by reaching under the steering column and pressing the manual release button. even after having recall work on another item at a gm dealer, they didn't offer any sort of solution on how to get this fixed. i still have to press the manual release to get the key out. contacted gm customer service through email and they offered no remedy and claimed no responsibility. *tr

Yesterday 03/20/10 on saturday night at 11:30pm to 11:40 pm my vehicle cobalt at close to 40 km/hr speed stop working. like ignition off. all gauges goes to off condition like vehicle is moving without engine running.outside temp.-1degree c. i placed emergency lights on and put in parking mode then i restart my car again and it starts. this is happened second time. i took to dealer last month but there was no code. i complained to gm earlier also. they told me take to dealer when it happen and in running condition. but on saturday at 11:30 pm on night which dealer service station is open? i have 4 times earlier sudden acceleration problem in the same vehicle also. pl do something before it met with accident. *tr

Key in my 2006 chevy cobalt won't come out of the ignition. this happens intermittently. say once every ten starts. the web page indicates chevy is aware of the problem: http://www.yourcobalt.com/forums/install-guides-diy/19840-tsb-key-getting-stuck-ignition-shifter-problems-auto-trans.html i have not seen any recall of this problem but there is a fair number of owners who experience it. chevy should recall and repair this for all owners for whom it has occurred. *tr

Car has lost all power twice while in motion. second time had car towed to local dealer and they had a new program downloaded to the computer which controls the car function. said it was a sensor mis-reading the car and had to have the software rebooted. this is totally unsafe for a moving car. also experiencing problems with key ignition lock not releasing the key- diagnosed as a problem with the gear shifter. many people having these problems. these are both issues the gm should own up to.

I was driving home on february 05, 2010 when my steering wheel locked up and i did not have control of the vehicle. i was coming to a stop fortunately when this happened. this is the first time i have experienced this situation. a friend told me chevy cobalt have been recalled and i began my search online and have found numerous complaints regarding this issue. several months ago, my fuel pump module had a small crack in it disbursing gasoline. the mechanic who worked on it said he had never seen anything such as this before. im lucky i was not driving at a high speed or around a corner when my steering wheel locked up or my car didn't explode into flames from the gasoline disbursing throughout my car when i had to replace my fuel pump. power steering and fuel pumps should not require regular maintenance. chevy barely acknowledges the problem and say its not big deal, try your best to control your car when your power steering goes out. i've heard this becomes a regular occurrence after the first time. *tr

I have a 2006 chevrolet cobalt with 39k miles. my steering wheel shakes when driving, it is sometimes hard to turn, the radio turns on and off, and the check engine light & air bag light are on. i took the car to the dealership and they said nothing is wrong with the car. they got the lights to turn off. my warranty is now expired and the same lights came on again. *tr

You can not get the key out of the ignition. you can pull the gear out of park with the car off. the doors will unlock on its own. *tr

I own a 2006 chevy cobalt ss. my key often gets stuck in the ignition, taking quite some time to fiddle with to get out. as well, and a much more serious complaint, is the failure of my power steering. my power steering light has come on quite often in the past 2 weeks. turning the car on and off takes the light away. however, today while taking a turn at a green light, my power steering literally failed on me. this is not safe, and after much research, i have learned its a common defect of 2005-2009 chevy cobalts. *tr

While driving my car 2006 chevy cobalt ss will automatically loose power steering. this has happened about 20 times in the last 6days. i need to turn the car off and then back on in order for my electric power steering to work again for the time being until it goes again. i have brought it in to get looked at and they did an analysis report stating there is nothing wrong. obviously there is a problem when my electric power steering randomly goes while i am driving this is dangerous! i have read many other complaints against this car doing the same thing. something needs to be done. *tr

In my 2006 chevy cobalt ss with 82,000 miles the electric power steering will appear on the dash and then my steering completely goes. this has happened atleast 20 times this week and is getting worse. i brought it in to a garage that said they did an analysis and nothing is wrong. there is obviously a problem. when this occurs i need to turn my car off and then on but the steering will go again in time. this is dangerous. *tr

Second 2006 chevy cobalt owned. the first had an electrical issue and burned to the ground within a month of purchasing it. the air had gone out on it and we had returned it to dealer where it was serviced. within a week it caught fire in traffic. we assumed the dealer did something incorrect when reconnecting the battery cables. partly because the fire had started in trunk where battery was. we thought it was human error so we purchased another 2006 cobalt. it started dying in traffic at intersections when stopped or when you allow it to idle. took it to several auto stores and had put on machine. answer was rapid misfire. bought new sparkplugs and wires. replaced those to no avail, tried gas treatments for the shuttering engine, to no avail. took it to mechanics twice. they replaced the cooling sensor. still cutting out and wouldn't idle properly. took back to mechanic. he couldn't find anything. noticed one headlight off when we picked it up. took it home to investigate and headlight back on. we believe its a short somewhere in system. doesn't die when lights are off. approximately 98,000 miles. had a minor issue with a gas leak. took it to local dealer and was addressed immediately. no other major issues. *tr

On december 31, 2009, my 25 year old daughter was driving along an interstate in her chevy cobalt. she crashed into a tree along the side of the interstate. her airbags did not deploy, and her seatbelt did not lock. she died on impact, according to the police on reviewing the scene of the accident, my son observed that the tracks left by the car before it crashed were in a straight line, suggesting that the brakes either had not been applied or had not worked. on doing research, he found information online suggesting that there had been other, similar crashes in cobalts and that the ignition switch was thought to be defective. we have already addressed this with gm and completed our action, and, at the time, i filed a consumer complaint to document the issue. i just read that this agency will be investigating the issue, and i wanted to make sure you were aware of my daughter's death in a cobalt in which the air bags did not deploy, the seatbelt did not lock, and that we strongly suspect, though gm never confirmed this, had a defective ignition switch. *tr

I can't remove the key from the ignition. some of interior electrical remain on which drains the battery. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet cobalt. the contact was driving approximately 25 mph on normal road conditions. suddenly, the engine and traction control warning light indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the warning indicators remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. the failure mileage was 56,000.

I have a 2006 chevrolet cobalt lt. i have 39,000 miles on it and have had numerous issues with the car! the main issue seems to be the power steering. i was 4 hours from home and my power steering light came on. my wheel locked up and was hard to steer. i cut the car off and back on and it seemed to correct it for about a minute and then locked up completely. this has been an issue in numerous cobalts that i have seen. i talked with other people who own them and they have the same issues mine has. that goes to show there is an issue with the chevy cobalt. most people have had the key stick in the ignition (i have had to have that replaced) and now power steering! please do something! *tr
