Tire failure. bf goodrich traction t/a 195-60/15. 35000 miles wear. mounted on right rear of 99 volvo v70 wagon. sudden blowout while driving about 45 mph. tire pressure was about 34 psi and had always been religiously maintained. weather: dry, 55 f. no puncture or road hazard involved. *nm

Failure of tire sidewall - blowout at 50 mph - loss of vehicle control! (tiresize: 195/60/r15)

I noticed a vibration between 25-40 mph. dealer found belt separation and cracking. there are 5 or 6 other incidents of this on 1998 and 1999 volvo cars at this dealership. this is a factory defect and safety issue and i am unhappy that continental made me pay a pro-rata amount of $25 for each tire they replaced. Under normal braking conditions pedal intermittently feels bouncy and vibrates. sometimes there is also a bumping noise. this happens only when coming to a stop, never under emergency braking. braking distance is normal. vehicle taken to dealer 5 times, replaced hydrolic unit/control module/front brake pads, and all tires. did not remedy problem. dealer stated it was normal for this vehicle to react that way during braking.*ak
