Problems with 1999 Volvo V70 LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES

There is only one door that owner can unlock with the key. otherwise, the consumer must rely on the remote. the battery on our remote failed and the lock had been non-functioning for quite some time, since there is only one lock on the doors. a child was locked inside the car. we had to call a locksmith. to replace the remote (they fail frequently) it costs approximately $300 for the device. this is absolutely abusive. *tr

Dt: the contact stated while driving the vehicle stalled intermittently. the vehicle has been to the dealership numerous times to have the electronic throttle module replaced. the contact was afraid to drive the vehicle. the problem recurred after repairs made. the vehicle surges and stutters violently the manufacturer has been contacted.*ak the door latch was broken. a loose ball joint was replaced. the drivers window would not go up. updated 01/25/06. *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 1999 volvo v70. the contact has experienced failures with the vehicle's tailgate that have become progressively worse. the tailgate door will not open at all. the vehicle is currently at the dealer and has been for seven days. the dealer stated that they are having a hard time replacing the entire locking mechanism. nhtsa safety recall # 00v239000 (latches/locks/linkages:tailgate:latch) is for the same failure. the current mileage is 109,605 and failure mileage was 102,849.

Driver's door would lock up when opening or closing door. dealer contacted. *akthe main door hinge is failing and hangs up when opening or closing the driver front door. the auto service dealer has advised that this seems to be a manufacturing defect. there are complaints of other vehicles with the same problem but volvo will not offer to replace it despite safety concerns. *jg
