Purchased a volvo s80 in 2001;vehicle currently has 60700 miles and 3 automatic transmissions & throttle body replacement.

2001 volvo s80 series developed problems with the steering and the braking system.***no answer required***. *mr while exiting a parking lot, the vehicle ceased to operate. the vehicle towed and the consumer was assured the problem had been resolved, however 8 months later the incident happened again. the consumer had several electrical repairs done on the vehicle, such as the interior lights, the power windows, the battery was defective which had to be replaced twice, the alarm would go off for no reason, the head light bulbs and tail light bulbs were replaced. the key would not turn in the ignition, the engine light illuminated, there was a front suspension noise when going over bumps. there was a power steering leak due to a loose hose clamp. the parking brake needed to be adjusted, it did not hold on an incline. *jb

The 2001 volvo s80 headlight & daytime running light system. the 2001 volvo s80 headlight & daytime running light system. the dashboard lights and daytime running lights are on at start up. during darkness there is no indication that the night time headlamps are in the off position (because the dashboard lights are on and daytime lamps illuminate the road to some extent). the unsafe consequence is that by not turning on the night time headlamps in darkness, the 2001 volvo s80 operates void of tail lamp illumination.my wife is the primary driver of our volvo. she combats the problem by leaving the night time headlamps on at all times. when i drive the volvo, i have a habit of turning the lights off after use. many times, my wife has forgotten to turn the night time headlamps back on in darkness and has been in harms way as she drives void of tail lamp illumination in darkness! this is a safety issue. this tail lamp problem which appears to be a careless oversight by the design team. this is a problem which should be addressed and retrofitted to the current vehicles affected immediately. dt
