Problems with 2009 Volkswagen Routan ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Sliding door locks making very loud vibrating noise when locked and fit the description of recall 10v252000 by vw for 2009 routans made in windsor canada during the second half of 2008. says that car could catch fire but vw saus that my vin is not included some how. *tr

The vehicle has a new battery which is correctly installed and free of corrosion. when the key fob is placed into the ignition and moved forward, the vehicle will not start. the dash lights come on, and it should start, but it does not. if you keep trying, or walk away and come back after a few minutes and try again, it does sometimes start. this intermittent problem seams to have no rhyme or reason and i am concerned the vehicle might stop while my wife or i drive it. this generally happens 4 to 5 times a month. any help would be appreciated. *tr

All warning/service lights on the dash panel light up, sound alarms, and blink. the speedometer, fuel gauge, tachometer all go to "0" so i am unaware of my speed. blinkers and emergency flashers do not work. this first happened right after we purchased the vehicle, and they repaired something to where it worked for about 3 months. then it has been happening more frequently since then. the lights all turning on will happen about once a week now. i called the dealership and they said it's probably related to the recall currently in place for my vehicle, that they don't have a fix for. of which, my car has been effected by the ignition switch recall as my car has turned off at random times going 35+ mph. this recall has been in effect since july 2014 and there is not yet a remedy. i have 3 young kids that i have with me all of the time and i am afraid to driving on the hwy since this often happens at those times. *tr

Our 2009 routan randomly loses power and the engine attempts to turn off while driving. this has happened at least five times in the past year. our routan is part of the ignition switch recall, which should fix this problem, yet more than six months after this potentially deadly recall was issued, volkswagen has not officially issued a repair, so our dealership will not repair. we have contacted volkswagen directly, and all we have been told is "we are still waiting for more information." considering volkswagen issued this same recall on the 2010 routan more than three years ago and should be familiar with the repair, i find this unacceptable. it is a lawsuit waiting to happen. *tr

While driving on 4 different occasions over the last week the engine shuts off without warning. once while turning left across traffic. the van stopped right in the middle of the turn and was started just in time and started moving as oncoming car also swerved to avoid my car stalled right in front of them. dealer has no idea what is causing the problem and can only guess that the win module needs to be replaced. there is a recall on the win module for 2010, but not for 2009. *tr

While driving at various speed the car suddenly shuts off and loses power steering. this has occurred 4 times now and is extremely dangerous. car can only be restarted when at a complete stop and placed back in park. *tr

Power sliding doors actuate on own, without warning, both open and close with no regard to humans or object in the path. door handles chrome delamination causing severe cuts. power third row seating motor/frame failure causing seats mounting points to be unsecured. dealer and vw of america unwilling to correct safety issues without large financial compensation. *tr

We've had multiple problems with the van not starting and the dealer did not do anything about because they could not recreate the problem. we received a recall notice in august for ignition problems which could result in the power brakes and airbags shut down while driving. i have called two dealers and vw customer service and they keep saying they still do not have parts after 2 months. *tr

Notice oil light coming on between oil change....filled oil to proper level...i took car in for service today (1/7/13) was told by dealership the gasket will need replace, that was the reason for oil usage. i just had my vehicle in to fix the sliding door (tsb recall not honored) in october and in was inspected with no problems. doing research on internet and finding the oil, door is a common problem in vw routan ( also talked to another owner was in for same problem, stated has been given runaround since day one about problems with his routan). *tr

Took 2009 vw routan to local dealership in 2010 due to safety recall on sliding doors (faulty wire harness). passenger side door was fitted with tie wrap. driver side door was inspected but no work was performed. this week, door stopped working on driver's side. took it to the dealer on wednesday and was told it would cost $383 to repair wire harness. called vw customer care to explain problem. was told that case would be started. waiting to hear about solution. vehicle was supposed to be finished on thursday. now being told it will be monday. we were given a loaner vehicle for the weekend. *tr

In july 2012 i bought a certified pre-owned 2009 volkswagen routan minivan. i have reported the following major safety problems on several occasions to no resolve: loss of power' the car will completely lose power and the steering wheel locks while driving. for ex on 12/22 from 5:32p ' 10:48p, the car lost power and steering wheel locked 11 times. sliding doors automatically open ' the doors will not close securely, won't open, or will appear closed and spontaneously reopen. there have been several times we will go out for the evening or come out for work in the morning and both doors are opened. at times, while driving, the door (particularly the driver side rear) will appear closed and secure however it will sound as if it has suddenly jumped off track and the door will crack open. we took the certified pre-owned vehicle to be serviced 8xs within the warranty time and we were told each time because the check engine light was not on to trigger a code that outline the problems there was nothing that could be done. we have suffered a great deal of personal and emotional stress as these are critical and highly dangerous highway safety concerns. i'm worried each time my family gets into the minivan and i continue to fulfill my contractual agreement of $320+ per month without fail however i have yet to receive the same from volkswagen. *tr

Where to begin with this car. all 4 valve stems needed to be replaced. i was losing pressure in my tires, and mechanic said they were corroded. then my tiptronics did not work, also when you shifted in to gear, it didn't want to move. had the whole shifting lever component replaced. lots of trouble with the doors not opening right, then when closing the sensor doesn't always work. almost had my kids get caught in the door. if the car is even on the slightest slope the door won't close. while driving down the road at 55mph the car just shut off. no power steering! very dangerous. i had to rent a car to go on vacation, i didn't feel safe enough to drive on the interstate with it. happened may times. they couldn't find anything wrong with it. now i think the transmission is going. i am so frustrated with this car! *tr

My 2009 routan 3.8l will intermit not start / i get check engine light and electrical lightening bolt. about 3 years ago it started and i was told it was my battery. replaced my battery it was good for about 1yr then it started again had the battery replaced again then about 1yr later it started again but my battery is tested good. i went through 2 batteries in about 3 yrs. i even had my starter checked and it tested good. my friend who is a mechanic said why is the starter next to the exhaust manifold it is getting hot. when i have issue in the last year it take about 30min or longer before it starts then i might not have any issues for about 1 or 2 weeks and sometime i might have the issues 2 times in one day. i have checked online and i am seeing many people are complaining about the 2009 vw routan intermit not starting. i have call vw and my van is not on the list for the ignition switch recall. today 8/5/2014 my routan i will not start at all i am going to have the battery checked. *tr

Oil consumption since 24000 miles. vw dealer never want to address the problem. keep tell me this normal. now i have to add quarter oil every month. on morning car wasn't starting and took to the dealer and had the ignition replaced at 42000 miles but now the key get stuck on ignition multiple times. i hope the recall will fix this problem. i had to replace brakes at 12000 miles due the vibration while brakes. i had multiples electrical problems and some was repair after couple trips to the dealer. this car is a lemon. when we will have our money back? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 volkswagen routan. the contact stated that the sliding door wiring failed for both sliding doors. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who inspected the vehicle and recommended that it needed to be taken to the dealer for diagnosis and repair. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that electrical wiring for both sliding doors needed to be replaced as well as a fractured wiring harness needed to be replaced. the dealer mentioned that the vehicle was repaired for nhtsa campaign number: 10v252000 (electrical system) on october 15, 2010. the contact stated that the recall remedy failed to prevent the failure from occurring. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

I have experienced mechanical defects with the power sliding door feature on both sides of the 2009 vw routan se. the defect has been repaired a total of four times since its purchase, twice before the nhtsa safety recall on the power sliding doors and twice after the recall. the defective power sliding doors have unlatched and opened while driving the vehicle, even after the power locks activate. in addition, the sensors on the power sliding doors have failed to retract, resulting in hands being trapped. lastly, i have found the power sliding doors open upon return to the vehicle after closing and locking it. i have expressed my concerns to vw's local service department and have contacted vw's customer care department. i was informed that as long as this defect can be repaired they would not administer a refund or replacement. i am very concerned about the safety of this vehicle and feel it poses a risk to my two small children. *tr
