I bought the car around mid-september 2019. i've been driving it since and just recently, i'd say december 9th, 2019 to be exact, got a letter in the mail saying my vehicle had a recall for the airbag. i went online to the car brands website and looked up my exact car to verify. upon doing this, i discovered it had a second recall for the fuel pump. i took the car in for the free repairs, only to be told that they can't fix the fuel fump issue as my check engine light is on. from what i've been told by a mechanic i went to, the light is on due to a leak in my vacuum pump. he said it'd cost about $600 for part and labor, but that this fix isn't extremely important and that my car should run well enough without this fix. me being broke, i didn't get it fixed. well, now that i'm here to get my recall parts fixed, i'm being told i can't get one of them fixed, and i'd have to pay around $124 for a diagnosis of why the check engine light is on, or pay the estimated cost to ...

While driving at highway speed the vehicle suffered a sudden and catastrophic failure of the high pressure fuel pump. the vehicle has only 43k on it and was just purchased after receiving the tdi update 3k miles ago. the fuel pump failure occurred around 60-70 mph on the highway and lead to the vehicle losing all power and barely making it to the shoulder of the road. i have now learned that this failure has completely destroyed my fuel system and is not covered by vw even thoughthey are using the same part that they are covering for the 2010-2013 model years they offered an extended warranty on. not only is this incredibly unsafe, as a consumer this type of unpredictable and common failure is unacceptable.

On two occasions, the vehicle's engine stopped working while the car was moving. the first instance, the car stalled while moving at 5mph on an expressway exit ramp. it restarted after 30 minutes (blocking traffic for that period of time). when attempting to restart, the motor would turn over, but the engine would not start - as if there was no gasoline. the second stall occurred while driving on an expressway at 55mph. in that case there was again a sudden loss of all power. however, the vehicle would not restart. the car was taken to a dealer on both occasions. the dealer replaced the batter on the first visit. on the second visit, the dealer claimed that there were fault codes related to the high pressure fuel rail that needed to be reset.

Fuel pump cracked, and placement of pump caused gasoline to pool underneath back seat inside the car, right under where my 4 year olds car seat is. tech started we are extremely lucky that it didnt catch on fire, because it was basically a bomb directly underneath him that could have gone off anytime the car was turned on or running. only found out about it when i took it to get the fuel pump module replaced, and only found out about that recall when the car started stalling out while driving. it is now at volkswagen of macon waiting on parts for a $1,000 repair. we are going to get rid of the car because we are not putting my son back in a car where that is even possible.

2005 vw passat wagon, 4 motion, 128,000 miles, w/ intense odor of gas in the cabin of the car; after driving 15 miles to work, i developed a headache and illness symptoms which lasted for 2 -3 days. car was towed to local vw dealer. i contacted vw of america, who agreed to diagnostics. large fuel tank fracture confirmed. after many discussions with customer service at vw of america, they refused to cover repairs, though they did confirm that this failure was the same failure which had led to a previous recall campaign of the fuel tank/system, but since my car had already been repaired (2015) w/ a superseded part and it was past the 12 month warranty period, i did not qualify, nor would they offer goodwill service. they did acknowledge, however, that it was a serious safety issue and the car should not be driven. i verbalized in many conversations the safety concern this posed not only for myself and my family but for others who had the potential to face the same situation. i asked what process vw had for documenting and reporting these consumer safety concerns of such a serious nature and was ...
