Window on driver side sometimes are inoperative. this can be because of wires inside the drivers side door are too short. can be a problem if in an emergency my window must be rolled down. if i'm trapped, what happens if i can't roll down my window to get out! also, ceiling headliner is coming down. can no longer see through my rearview mirror! the headliner liner was cut too short so i can't fix it. please help. thank you so much. *tr
As my daughter was driving down the road her driver side window suddenly dropped into the door, creating a loud noise and serious driving distraction. she reported swerving and slamming on her brakes as she didn't know what had happened. it turns out this is a known defect, see technical bulletin 64-08-06 and the warranty was extended to cover this part, but we were never notified. apparently, there was no recall notice, despite knowing of this ongoing problem, only a warranty extension after the problem occurs. this how now expired. she was driving down the road, in the snow, and this could have caused a serious accident. *tr
My vw drivers side window fell into the door as i was driving along the highway last year. brought it in to the body shop and they told me they fix tons of this problem as the plastic clips that hold the window are too fragile. now...several months later my passenger door is having the same problem. the cost of the regulator to fix it (as parts are not sold separatly) has now gone up in cost $50. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2002 volkswagen jetta. while driving at 60 mph, the driver side power window regulator collapsed. the contact spoke with the dealer who advised the failure was not a recall item and repairs would be at the owner's' expense. the vehicle was not repaired. the current mileage was 20,000 and the failure mileage was 19,995.
Drivers side door. window fell suddenly, dropping into door. already happened to passenger side door year before. the car is a 2000 vw jetta. this sounds like a recurring problem with vw's. how does a recall happen? how many times does it take to get a recall? *tr
Passenger and drivers windows spontaneously drop from frame and fall into door. this incident caused my arm to be bruised when accessing my mailbox. the failure has occurred on two doors both door required new pulleys for the window system. according to the mechanic this is a very common problem with volkswagen. *tr
My driver's side window suddenly stopped working. i took it to a repair shop and the mechanic said that piece that holds the window in place was stretched and about to break. when i spoke with a friend who used to own a jetta of the same year, make, and model as mine, he said that the same thing had happened to his vehicle. he said that there had been a recall on this part. when i checked the nhtsa's web site, however, i could not find this recall. *tr the consumer had problems with the engine and the sterring column was defective. the engine light illuminated right after the vehicle was purchased. updated 06/01/09.*jb
The clamps on the front driver's side window of my 2003 vw jetta detached leaving the window stuck closed. *tr
I bought an 2003 vw jetta wolfsberg on jan. 17th, 2007. i was driving on an interstate and hit a bump and the right passenger window fell into the door panel. i went to the dealer and they said they could fix but its out of warranty and i will be responsible for all charges. i called vw and they said there are no known defects or any pending at this time. *tr
While traveling down the highway the drivers side window fell into the door. the call is undrivable in this condition as it is around 20 degrees outside and the car cannot be locked securely due to absence of window. the dealer wants to charge us $456 for a window regulator and motor. *tr
