We have classified the 3 complaints from 2011 Volkswagen Jetta about EQUIPMENT into the following categories.
I was driving to my cabin and when i woke up the next day and started my car - my radio did not work, the care was stationary in driveway when i noticed this problem. i drove to the dealer, thinking it was a fuse or something easy to fix and they said the radio is broken and it be over $1500.00 to replace. i was a bit shocked - this radio is not fancy, standard stock radio. i started doing research in all the vw jetta forums and many people (thousands of people have had this issue or an electrical issue that caused the radio to break) the 2011 jetta radio is junk and it needs to be recalled. i'm not sure if this is another poor vw scam similar to the diesel mileage fraud? but several people in the forums are having the same issue. this need to be addressed by volkswagen and repaired at no cost to the owners. a radio should last more than 4 years! thank you! *tr
While driving, radio/cd/hands free telephone died. screen flickered and then went blank, no power to all these functions. vw repair said this model of radio installed on this year vehicle was a common problem, and that the radio unit is dead and will need to be replaced ($668 plus tax for a replacement by dealer). plus an install fee. an ungodly price for a replacement radio that is only 4 years old. there are numerous complaints and threads out which warrant a recall. i use the hands free constantly for work and not being able to will make me have to use the phone in an unsafe manner. safety is paramount. update 9/15/15*cw
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 volkswagen jetta. the contact stated that the radio stopped working, which caused the vehicle's bluetooth to stop working. the contact's city has a hands free law for safety. in the cold winter months, the radio and bluetooth failure prevented the contact from being able to get any update information. the contact changed the fuses, but that did not correct the failure. the failure mileage was unknown. updated 8/19/15*cn updated 9/30/12 *js
2011 jetta sportwagen tdi: stock entertainment system (rcd 510) went dead. heard a loud pop, touch screen went black, and all functionality was lot. i consider this a major safety issue in that the entertainment system also includes the hands free phone integration. this is a well known issue in the sportwagen community (see the following thread http://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t36009_ds552583?sntemlid=181117531#msg390217) yet volkswagen refuses to stand by their product and acknowledge a faulty part. in essence, volkswagen is knowingly putting their customers at risk by selling cars with a faulty entertainment system which includes the hands free phone integration. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2011 volkswagen jetta wagon. the contact stated that he was searching for information in the vehicles owners manual about the weight limit for the latch system used when installing a child seat. the contact was unable to find any information. the manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact of the weight limit and stated that due to legal reasons the information was not listed in the manual. the vin was not available.
I purchased a 2011 vw jetta s sedan on 1/24/2011. at approximately 1000 miles, the car began making a whistling noise from under the dash nearly all the time. i brought the car in for service on 2/16/11 and after a few days, i was told the problem was isolated to the thermal expansion valve in the ac system. this was replaced and the problem was fixed. about 2 weeks later, the sound returned. i brought the car in again on 3/29/11 and again was contacted a couple of days later. the dealer service rep told me that the vw factory tech rep looked at the car and there is nothing wrong with it. his determination is that it is operating according to specification. i contacted vw of america and they confirmed this as the outcome and that if i remain unsatisfied i could call the better business bureau auto line for resolution, which i have also done. this isn't a safety issue, but certainly represents a design flaw that vw is not willing to rectify. the car whistles nearly constantly when the ac system is at operating pressure and temperature. additionally, the clearcoat sustained damage after less than 48 hours of exposure to bird droppings. the dealership stated there is nothing they can do and the warranty specifically excludes that damage from coverage. *tr
While driving the windshield wipers would randomly creep up the windshield and when the wipers got all the way to service mode, all the doors would unlock. the radio would fade in and out and the when adjusting the sound on the radio loud cracking, popping and static should would come from the radio speakers. *tr
