Tl* the contact owns a 2010 volkswagen jetta. the contact stated that the bluetooth feature failed to work whenever the radio was inoperable. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 61,000.

I turned my car on and the radio was dead. the radio is also the bluetooth device and is now unsafe for me to use my phone while in the car. i have read that many other people have had the same problem with this vehicle. *tr

Radio failed. all power and functionality to radio lost. this is a common issue and i believe a recall should be issued. *tr

Rcd-510 radio stopped working and is confirmed "dead" by the dealer. no warning, no reason and no fix available. bluetooth no longer works because it uses the radio to power car speakers, so cannot do "hands free" communication. *tr

The radio quit working making the bluetooth hands free not operable? safety issue as i need the blue for talking while driving for work. *tr

The radio and bluetooth system want kaput upon starting the car one morning. this is a problem that others have documented on social media (http://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t36009_ds552583) and that vw will not acknowledge as a manufacturers' flaw. it's a $700 fix for most customers and an issue that potentially causes safety issues if not addressed, considering the tie to the hands-free phone system. *tr

Radio will not work. does not power on. all fuses are good. this is a common problem. this web site follows the problems of multiple people http://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t36009_ds552583?actionmessages=your+answer+has+been+posted. *tr

Premium 8 touchscreen radio with bluetooth mobile phone connectivity, entire unit no longer working. normally a radio is not a safety concern, however, operation of this unit allows auto operator to have "hands free cell phone use", which most definitely is a safety issue when operating the vehicle. we are in our 70's and have owned many automobiles, we have never had a radio die like this. our other vehicle is 13 years old and radio works fine. many complaints are on the internet about the number of failed units in relatively new vehicles. it seems like this is a faulty batch of radios that volkswagen has installed in there vehicles. *tr

Handsfree bluetooth functionality has cut off. radio went dead. *tr

I dropped my 2010 volkswagen jetta tdi sports wagon to my dealer to have a front end alignment on may 30, 2014. my car went in with a perfectly good working radio, i went to pick up my car on may 31, 2014, the radio was display and controls were not working, i did not leave the dealer's lot. i promptly went back inside to tell them that the radio was not working and that i found it to be odd that the radio was not working when it came in with a perfectly good working radio. they kept the car and said they will do a diagnostic test on it. when they called me back they said that they were able to get the radio to work for a short time then it went dead again. the service person proceeded to tell me that i needed a new radio for $1100.00. this seems absolutely absurd that a radio would fail after 3 yrs. i am wondering if there has been any other complaints regarding radios in 2010 volkswagens? i went on line and there seems to be complaints, but who knows if they are valid or not. i am picking my car up today from the dealer without the working radio since i will need my car for transportation. i would appreciate any help or advice that you can give me. *tr

Radio and handsfree bluetooth system stopped working. dealership recommended calling vw customer service. contacted customer service only to be told nothing they could do. i feel this is a safety concern regarding ability to use handsfree capability. with very little research it appears this is a common problem and common response to it by vw. if they knowingly installed defective components they should be responsible for making things right. i have had several other recalls already for this vehicle and feel this may be approaching "lemon" status. *tr

Heard a small pop sound while listening to the radio and the system went dead. called vwoa and they would not open a claim. this is the second radio as the original failed under warranty and was replaced by the dealer in 2012. i was told the replacement radio, even though it was replaced with an oe radio, only carried a 12 month warranty while the original carried the full 36,000 three year warranty. *tr

Well over a 100 people have complained about the same exact issue with their 2010 vw touch screen radio dying out of no where. the website with all known complaints is at: http://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t36009_ds552583. vw refuses to be accountable for their merchandise. wear and tear on engine parts, completely understandable. a $1000 crashing out on multiple 2010 vws is a trend and should be handled accordingly by a responsible organization. however, this is not the case. vw considers a radio a luxury item and will not repair the radio. *tr

I bought my 2010 jetta used in june 2013. a month after i purchased it, i noticed the a/c was not working. i returned it to the dealer and they confirmed that the a/c compressor wasn't working. they installed a new one and i didn't have a problem until 8/7/13. i went out to start my car and noticed i had a light on my dashboard. i got out of the car and noticed my right front passenger side headlight out. i walked around and noticed the drivers side rear tail light was also out. i got home and when i shut the car off and turned it back on, the light on the dash was out, and all my exterior lights were working. it was around this time i noticed a burning smell whenever i exited the car, but i couldn't' pinpoint where it was coming from. i didn't have another issue until 10/25/14 when i was visiting friends 30 miles away. i went to leave, and when i started my car i once again had the light on the dash, so i got out and noticed the same lights were once again out. i had to drive on the highway like this, but thankfully while i was driving they all came back on. the car was fine until 12/14/13 when i went out to start my car in the morning and once again the same lights were out. the last time i had an issue with this was 1/7/14, in the middle of a blizzard. i got out of work and started my car to clear snow off it, and everything was fine. it wasn't until i turned the headlights on that i noticed the light on the dash was on indicating i had a light out somewhere. i got out and noticed that in addition to the same headlight and tail light being out, the license plate lights were also out. by the time i could get in the car they were all working again. i took it to the dealership and they confirmed the 30 amp fuse had overheated and caused the fusebox to melt (hence the burning smell). $500 later my car is hopefully fixed. thankfully the car didn't burn to the ground. *tr

Entire stereo system (including radio, cd player, bluetooth) stopped working. *tr

2010 volkswagen jetta. consumer writes in regards to a faulty gps *tgw the consumer stated when he entered his destination on the gps, he received an announcement that the destination was not possible. volkswagen sent the consumer a $250 voucher for a software update. however, the update did not resolve the problem. a second software update then came out. however, the consumer was informed the vehicle was out of warranty, but he could purchase it, for $250.00 *jb

Mil light, and glow plug light start appearing for no apparent reason. car loses acceleration going up hills and becomes dangerous in traffic. it occurs sporadically. mil light has been on for 3 plus months. authorized service garage cannot determine reasons for these lights. changes a few components. even after routine 10k service, problem continues. *tr
