2009 vw jetta se has a recall for the abs module and the vw refused to honor the recall. the dealer diagnosed the vehicle prior to the recall and i was told to wait for the recall because the abs module was defective. after the recall was issued i took my car to the dealer but vw refused to replace the abs module, as stated by the recall. reason given, is that the abs module has pre-existing faults. this is obvious, that is why it failed. the components on the board are not soldered properly thus leading to the components on the board to come loose due to the natural vibration of the vehicle. the abs module is defective and a software update will not repair a bad soldering. please advise.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 volkswagen jetta. while driving 50 mph, the brake pedal failed to operate normally without warning. the vehicle was taken to suntrup volkswagen (located at 6000 s lindbergh blvd saint, mo 63123 314-892 -8200) where it was diagnosed that the brake caliper and parking brake needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 118,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 volkswagen jetta. the contact stated that the abs warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic and an appointment was scheduled with a dealer (central valley volkswagen, 4620 mchenry ave, modesto, ca 95356, (209) 524-6811) for diagnostic testing. the dealer and the manufacturer indicated that the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control), although the failures were identical. the manufacturer provided no solution other than having the dealer replace the part. the vin and failure mileage were not available.
My abs module stopped working oct 2016, i had it repaired nov 2016. i received a safety recall notice for the abs module feb 2017. stated would reimburse for repairs if they had already been made. i mailed requested information 3/3/17. i phoned on 4-12-17 to verify it was received. i was told it was received on 3/9/17 and was under review. i was told that the recall was for a specific part, not the entire abs module and my repair bill did not have the part number that was replaced on it. i was told to wait for a letter explaining what further information they would need from my mechanic and i should have that letter in a couple of weeks. after a month and receiving no letter i called on 5/17/17 and was told still under review, i would have a response in 4 weeks. by 6/23/17 still no letter so i called again and was told by the rep she would call me back after she looked into it. on 6/26/17 the vw rep phoned me and stated they would not be paying my claim because i had the abs module repaired instead of a completely replaced. this is the exact opposite of what i was told originally. i believe this to be a scam to not have to pay. per their original recall letter-attached-it was a specific defect in the abs system and not the entire system itself. the decline letter that i received-attached-states that it was not covered because i needed to replace it with a new abs module. clearly they change their story to suit their needs.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 volkswagen jetta. the contact stated that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control). when the contact took the vehicle to the dealer, it was diagnosed that the vehicle's software failed and was unable to be updated. the dealer also stated that the module needed to be replaced; however, approval from the manufacturer was needed. the manufacturer determined that although the dealer diagnosed that the module needed to be replaced, it would not be replaced. the recall stated that "any module that fails the new diagnostic test will be replaced." the failure mileage was unknown. parts distribution disconnect.
When driving on a windey road the abs light came on and the car was breaking funny. i checked online to see if there was any recalls on my vehicle and found that the abs module software needed to be updated. the recall also stated that the abs module may need to be replaced due to this problem. i took it in and had the update installed, so now that i have it back, it is worse than ever. they said that i would need to replace the abs module for $1,6665 in order to get my car working right again. "wasn't it included" i asked. they said it was a separate problem and the error code was not in the perimeters. i'm not the only one with this problem do to volkswagen's screw up with the software. i've checked around and there are many others that are having the same problems. just the other day the epc light came on and the speedometer stopped working because apparently the abs module on this vehicle also tracks your speed. i'm not the only one and this is a blatant fault towards volkswagen and their shady practice.
Recall 45f2- while driving my car under normal conditions the abs light came on. coincidentally the next day i received a letter in the mail stating there was a recall on the abs for my vehicle. when i contacted vw they could not find the recall. i did a search and found it in 5mins. i contacted them again and told them i found it they proceeded to schedule an appointment. after they worked on my car and did the software update the abs light was still on. they told me my abs pump had a failure code of 01276/12 (abs pump electrical error in circuit remains) and that the recall did not cover it and quoted me to replace the whole assembly at $2600. my understanding is that the abs module controls the pump and if the pump fails it is because the module failed. i contacted vw corporate and they gave me the same answer, it is not covered under the recall. if i drive the car i am at risk of dying, my wife and children are at risk of dying. this is one of the most important parts of the car. i can not believe vw would try and push the fix back on the consumer!!!!
A safety recall was issued by volkswagen for abs software that potentially did not properly identify abs module errors. when i took the car in for service, the local dealership informed me that they did not have the required parts. they stated that vw policy did not allow them to order parts until the new software was loaded to abs module and a test conducted. vw dealership stated that 70% of abs boards fail test and it takes eight days to receive replacement part. i contacted vw customer service and opened a case. vw customer service investigated and confirmed vw policy prevents dealerships from ordering or maintaining parts inventory for recalled cars without an error report. i contacted the ceo of vw but have not received a response. i would like the nhtsa's assistance to have vw complete the recall repairs and have required parts in inventory to make repairs.

The abs module on my 2009 vw jetta. after taking it to the vw dealer in ontario california on 12-27-2016, service adviser robert tobar informed me that the abs module failed and told me that it needed to be replaced. i was quoted $2640.39. i asked him if there was a recall for this part and he said no. since so many people had the same problem, i figured it had to be a faulty part and decided to wait for the announcement of a recall. in march 2017, i found out that approximately 136k vehicles were recalled for the abs module. manufacturer recall number 45f2/nhtsa recall number 16v913 after searching my vin number, i found out that my car is eligible for the recall. i took my car to the dealer 3/10/17 9:30am. the service adviser is philip gibson. i called philip at 4:46pm and he informed me that the replacement abs part was put on order and that it would take approximately 5 days to fix. at 523pm, philip called me and said that because my abs module already faulted due to the recall, that i wasn't eligible for the recall and that i would have to pay for the fix to be eligible for the recalled. i told him that this did not make sense and he agreed and told me to call customer care at 9093765411. unfortunately, customer care was already closed. please help.
My 2009 jetta has been experiencing issues. the abs light, stability control light, brake light, and check engine light stay on. the car sputters from time to time. i took it to the dealer in my town for the volkswagen recall on the abs system. they supposedly fixed the abs software and module. then they tell me the abs pump is bad but not covered under warranty. it will be $3000 to replace! they replaced the mass air intake, a $442.00 repair and the car is still missing. check engine lights still on. now epc light is on. also, all of my abs lights, check engine, stability control, and brake lights are still on. how do i know the dealer actually did the abs repair? also, why is the abs pump not part of the recall? it's difficult to believe that the software caused the abs module to fail, but had nothing to do with the pump. this car seems to be a lemon. are there any plans to address the abs pump issue?
Safety recall 45f2-abs control module software- car to vw dealer 2-28-17.dealer explained could not perform re-call due to abs pump not part of re-call- my cost would be $ 2230 for new pump prior to software update. is this a bait & switch ? this is not a true re-call.

My 2009 vw jetta had a recall recently. i was driving the car and it failed to brake on linebaugh ave in tampa, fl. when researching i came across the recall. i then took the car to vw of new port richey located 4727 us-19, new port richey, fl. my car was at this dealership for 10days, the recall suggested an update for the abs control module and if the update did not fix the issue a replacement would be needed and completed at no charge. volkswagen of america was contacted and we were told that the replacement would be under warranty and it would be repaired after waiting and playing phone tag with vw of america and the dealer we were told by vw of america that the abs control module would not be replaced by them. we are left with a car unrepaired by a recall that is on the car. we were insulted and offered a $100 gift card in which was never received. we have small children in this vehicle that has a recall. all we asked was for the abs control module be replaced at no charge as we were told. we own 2 volkswagens and were thinking of a 3rd but with this customer service i am not sure if i can purchase another vw.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 volkswagen jetta. the contact stated that when the brake pedal was depressed, there was an abnormal vibration. also, the vehicle veered left or right when braking and the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard numerous times. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control). the dealer (team volkswagen of hayward, 25115 mission blvd, hayward, ca 94544, (510) 885-1000) indicated that the remedy and parts were available. the regional case manager indicated that the manufacturer would not provide a solution because of the age and mileage of the vehicle. the contact was uncertain as to when the vehicle would be repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 138,000. parts distribution disconnect.
In february 2017 i received a safety recall notice from volkswagen of america, inc. regarding a defective abs control module software. to date, i have been attempted to have this recall completed on three separate occasions and at different volkswagen service departments and have been advised that the recall couldn't be completed due to "loss of communication with the abs module" currently i am unable to pass the required smog testing and have been stopped by law enforcement because of expired tags. my registration fees are paid in full however i am unable to pass a smog test because of the recall on my vehicle. i am a single mother of a 22 month old girl who i transport in this vehicle and i am fearful we are in danger of accident due to this recall or getting towed by the police i would be faced with a financial hardship if that were to occur and if i should have to purchase a new vehicle.
Unsatisfactory resolution to nhtsa recall no.: 16v-913 https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2016/rclrpt-16v913-3524.pdf the proposed resolution to this recall is unsatisfactory. how can is it assured that if a module passes the load test the pcu ground connection will not fail at a future time? the failure reportedly occurs just when the abs/esp/steering system is needed most to maintain vehicle control. if this was a known manufacturing defect and the abs control module was replaced by an updated module with proper soldering then all vehicles produced with this manufacturing defect should receive an updated module.

Abs recall - i just received my recall for the jetta stating the above problem and remedy. but i don't the one paragraph in my letter above stating "please be aware that other conditions (unrelated to the issue described in this letter) may cause the abs system warning light in your vehicle to illuminate. customers should be prepared to cover diagnostics and repair costs associated with these other, unrelated conditions"....really! are you fkm! i'm supposed to trust them when they tell me...."were sorry sir, but your problem is not related to the recall and the repair will cost you $650.00, thank you" haha, volkswagen is just trying to recoup the money they lost to the tdi scam. never seen such a mischievous recall in my life! i have been having this problem for years now, rain or snow. if i turn the car off and back on it seams ok

Multiple warning lights on dashboard, abs, traction control and brake lights along with 3 audible beeps. abs system no longer functioning along with traction control. mechanic has indicated there is a known defect with the abs module in this model year and just within the last week vw has issued a partial recall but has not expanded to include all vehicles. repair costs are over $2000.

On june 22, 2016, while driving on a winding road the abs/esc lights illuminated and flashed. they went away when the car was turned off and restarted. then, on november 15, 2016, i made a defensive driving maneuver after being cut off by another car. i was driving approx 60 mph on the freeway and applied the brakes quickly to avoid hitting the other car. the brakes locked up causing the care to skid. the car began to fishtail and lose control. i was unable to steer properly and the abs system never engaged. the car spun and did 180 degree turn slamming into the side of the freeway wall causing over $4000 in damage to the car. after the crash the abs/esc caution lights were illuminated and flashing. the lights went away when the car was turned off and restarted. then on jan. 5 2017, during adverse weather conditions (snow packed roads), my car slid off the freeway and became stuck. i had to request emergency road side services to pull me out. i was traveling under 10 mph and the abs system failed to engage. once again the abs and esc warning lights were illuminated turning off when the car was restarted. all of these incidents appear to be directly related to the recent recall notice for the abs control module failure.
While driving the vehicle, i had to stop quickly due to possible impact with a car which ran a red light. my abs kicked in to prevent wheel lock up and suddenly esp/abs lights came on along with 3 loud beeps and my wheels locked up. abs/esp lights stayed on and my traction control, stability control and abs did not function anymore. conventional braking was still working normal and car was drive-able. upon performing a abs/esp scan for faults, it indicated a internal failure of the abs control module. turning the car on and off resets the lights and abs function is restored, but if you attempt to do another panic stop- all the lights come on and anti-lock brakes do not function- brakes lock up.
My wife was driving her 2009 vw jetta and the abs, traction control and brake light comes on the dashboard the other day with a beeping sound also. first let me say this car just turned 65,000 miles. i have owned many vehicles in my lifetime and this is unacceptable for a major safety device to fail as this did so early in the life of this car. i have read many other complaints that the abs control module fails and consumers have lost steering. this part is $1550.00 and another $375.00 to install, total of $1925.00. you can only buy this part new at the vw dealer ( just called). i can't believe this has not been recalled by now. please someone look into this problem. i don't want my wife driving this car, it is not safe with no abs working and possible loss of steering. also don't know if this is connected to the abs problem but the rear brakes are used up way to soon. brake dust all over the rear wheels. i'm a car guy and work on cars, this is not right.. thank you.. *tr
Car's abs and brake system has been failing once a while causing car to lose control of stability. random "engine workshop failure" many times while starting up the car and car performance gets very limited.
Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2009 volkswagen jetta. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control). the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. the dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. the manufacturer could not provide an estimated date for when the contact's vehicle would receive the recall repair. the contact was not experiencing a failure. vin tool confirms parts not available.
The failure that occurred was while the vehicle was in motion, on a city street, almost all the indicator lights turned on (brake, abs, check engine, and stability control) and the fuel and speedometer gauges went out. after pulling over and restarting the car, it seem to operate ok, but then everything lit up again. i pulled over on a side street to test the brakes and it seemed to brake "normal" without engaging the abs. it seem like the car operates without abs, stability control, the speedometer, and fuel gauge.
I bought a 2009 jetta after it was listed in the nhtsa article "safest used cars for teens." wish i hadn't. vw has a problem with their abs modules failing unexpectedly, but it is not a recall issue. my anti-locks failed today as i attempted to avoid a vehicle nearly side swiping me on an urban interstate during daytime traffic. this caused me to spin about 180 degrees and can't believe i wasn't t-boned. this vehicle should be taken off of that list, and not be recommended as a safe vehicle for teens.
Jetta's abs light and traction lights came on. speedometer will sputter and car dashboard will have a beeping sound with the brake light on as well as the abs light. can will still drive normally but the warning lights and beeping sound will appear every few minutes. took it to the dealer and was told my abs module needs to be replaced and the repair will cost $2400. searched online and other jetta owners seem to have this same problem.
Abs module failed on my vehicle without warning and for no apparent reason as i was driving at about 40mph. car has only done about 67,000 miles. the failure of the part affected not only the abs itself but the power steering, the gas gauge and the speedometer, all of which started to intermittently fail. the part cost over $1600 to replace and i was without a vehicle for several days as it took them a long time to reprogram the car. it would seem this is a very common problem with the 2009 volkswagen and as the part is so expensive to replace, vw needs to address this.
Here's another abs module failure thanks to vw's horrible design. the failure is causing the entire dash cluster to go haywire. car beeps all the time because it thinks the emergency brake is on. speedometer doesn't work! fuel gauge jumps up when engaging brakes. abs, traction, epc, cel lights constantly on, and sometimes it goes into limp mode making it dangerous to drive on the highway. vw charges $2,000 for the part excl labor which is 20% of the price of the car new. this should not happen with a seven year old car at only 100k miles
Abs, traction control, and brake light warnings all flashing. abs control module faulty and needed to be replaced
I had scary moments while i was driving my vw jetta last friday may 13, 2016. suddenly the vehicle started acting up. the lights on the dashboard that comes on for warning started blinking included engine, brake lights are constantly flashing, steering, abs, and e.t.c. (electronic throttle control) + bold red line flashing across drive gears display all in one!!!!!! which is not makes any sense. ''. had to maneuver over to the side of the road, lucky we didn't get in an accident!!!! what actually happens when it comes on it is hard to steer, acceleration goes slow, beeping hearing test noise frequents, gas gauge goes to e, and speedometer goes all the way to the end. this happens frequently and doesn't matter what road or highway i'm in, which makes it more dangerous when it's hard to steel and the brake lights are constantly flashing and when i steer the vehicle goes back not forward. i towed my vehicle to a local vw dealership and it was determined that the abs module failed and caused the problems. the cost to replace abs module is $2350 ($1650 abs module +$700 labor). this is obviously a manufacturing defect which can cause an immediate harmful affect if i was on a highway or not being careful i could have easily been in a life threatening accident i don't think it's fair that consumers should absorb the cost of this type of repair i think vw should send a recall immediately. vw knows about this problem and they replaced the abs part # 1k0 614 517 bef with new part # 1k0 614 517 bk bef ( i request the old parts from the dealer) -attached my video that i recorded at the time that i had this incident. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0b1qrivbdbo7qmla2z1rmanbru3m/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0b1qrivbdbo7qwdbmrnhgedheeee/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0b1qrivbdbo7qbfa2two5ofvit2m/view?usp=sharing
Randomly, most of the vehicle warning lights, check engine or malfunction indicator light, brake system, abs, traction control or esp, airbag fault, appear while i am using a brake for red light and driving on any kinds of roads. then i feel the wheel as heavier than usual, the past (cannot turn smoothly like before). i just purchased the used vehicle on december 16, 2015. the cardealer, autonation, sold the car by advertising that's well maintenanced and all checked. however, within6 months after the purchase, those vehicle warning lights came up on the display. autonation suggested me to go to wollswagen dealer. the mechanic at the local volkswagen dealer gave me an estimates for the repair around 2,000 usd saying that abs system is not working and needs to be replaced by a new one. i asked a help to autonation, but the dealer said that's why volkswagen car is known as a risky choise. the dealer appolozied me saying that he cannot help me. is there any way to return the car to autonation or to get my car repaired by autonation?
The abs module needs to be restore or replace. the lights on the dashboard that comes on includes engine, brakes, steering, abs, and e.t.c.(electronic throttle control).what actually happens when it comes on is it hard to steer, acceleration goes slow, beeping hearing test noise frequents , gas gauge goes to e, and speedometer stops working. this happens frequently and doesn't matter what road or highway i'm what makes it more dangerous when its hard to steel and the brake lights are constantly flashing.
