We have classified the 2 complaints from 2005 Volkswagen Jetta about VISIBILITY into the following categories.
As my daughter was driving down the road her driver side window suddenly dropped into the door, creating a loud noise and serious driving distraction. she reported swerving and slamming on her brakes as she didn't know what had happened. it turns out this is a known defect, see technical bulletin 64-08-06 and the warranty was extended to cover this part, but we were never notified. apparently, there was no recall notice, despite knowing of this ongoing problem, only a warranty extension after the problem occurs. this how now expired. she was driving down the road, in the snow, and this could have caused a serious accident. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 volkswagen new jetta. the contact was driving 60 mph when the power windows and turn signals failed to work properly. the contact also mentioned that the exterior and interior lighting failed to illuminate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who confirmed that both a wiring and crash harness was needed to resolve the failure. the manufacturer was not notified, and the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 54,000 and the current mileage was 69,000.
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 volkswagen jetta. the contact attempted to roll down the window, but was unsuccessful. while driving 30 mph, the contact heard a loud noise and realized that the driver's side window had come out of the frame. the current and failure mileages were 35,000.
The fuse for the rear window defroster melted into the fuse box. i called vw and they informed me that when they manufactured the vehicle they placed a 25 amp fuse in the fuse box and it should be changed to a 30 amp. they informed me that i can do this myself since there was a technical service bulletin placed on this. i told them there was no way that i can get the fuse out since it is melted into the fuse box, and they informed me that i would have to pay to have the fuse box replaced. i do not understand how i am responsible for something that i never did. i cannot use my rear window defroster, heated seats and my heated windshield washers don't even work. i have went the rounds with volkswagen and they stick to telling me that i am responsible for the costs in replacing the fuse box. its like they are telling me that i built the car and i placed the wrong fuse. if i did build the car and place the wrong fuse in the car i would pay for the damages associated with this, but i did not build it vw built it and i feel they need to take responsibility for placing the wrong fuse in the fuse box. *tr
During winter driving with temperature at 18 degrees the windshield wipers became inoperative after 45 minutes of use in wash mode. water/ice builds up under a plastic cowl, this cowl hides the windshield wiper mechanics. the ice build up prevents operation of the windshield wipers. a friend of mine who is a 2005 vw jetta owner has reported this identical problem with his car. vw has refused to cover this repair under warranty, claiming this is an environmental problem. *jb
I purchased a certified pre-owned 2005 volkswagen jetta gls tdi from randy hiley volkswagen on august 25th 2005. i took the car into north point volkswagen in sherwood, arkansas to have the fuel gauge checked out on september 2nd 2005. the service tech took me to the shop to look at the car. he asked me if i knew the car was damaged, i said no. the salesman had said it had never been wrecked and if it had been wrecked they would sell the car at wholesale. the service tech at north point showed me the fuel pump/fuel gauge-sending unit had been broken. he said the only time they have seen this happen is if a car had been in a wreck. they put the car on the lift and found that the car had been repaired on the driver's side. we found bad welds, and no paint/rust protectant. hiley paid for the fuel pump to be replaced. if you look at the vw web site for certified pre-owned you'd see that it shows under the underbody tab "no sign of damage". i called hiley vw to see what they were going to do about this. to which they said, "there is nothing we can do." (hiley, general manager). i have had hiley fix a seat belt problem and check four wheel alignment on the car. after i argued with general manager about all the problems with the car. i'm tired of arguing! which i had to drive to arlington. the air bag light in on now. i took the car into moffitt vw. they say it's a problem with the seat belt. there's a flaw in the windshield. there are no doorsill protectors on the driver's side of the car. the rear passenger seat will not lock into place. there may be more wrong with the car, i have stopped looking. i have submitted a consumer complaint form with the texas attorney general's office and the arkansas attorney general's office. i have also submitted a complaint form with the better business bureau. what does this mean "certified"? is it just a way to dump a not "up to snuff" car on an unsuspecting customer?
