When i started the car the hvac blower motor would not work. the dealer found that the motor had shorted out and instead of blowing the fuse and deactivating the blower motor and motor circuit, the blower fuse melted, the fuse box melted, and the connector was also melted. this car is primarily used for short trips and was taken to the dealer shortly after the motor stopped working, if i had been on a long trip or ignored the problem i believe this short circuit would have resulted in a fire under my dashboard. why didn't the fuse blow and what's the point of having a fuse in the circuit if a shorted motor causes the fuse box and fuse to melt, and not blow the fuse and isolate the shorted circuit? this design is a disaster waiting to happen. i did not notice any smoke or smell of melting plastic before the motor stopped working. i've attached the repair work order, the repair was completed under new car warranty at no cost to me.
