I have replaced my clock spring twice in 3 years, at the same dealership, southeast vw in santa ana, ca. my steering wheel will make a noise and all controls will stop working and airbag light will turn on. i brought my car in for the airbag recall and they are now stating the clock spring is broken and are wanting to charge me $541.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 volkswagen eos. the contact stated that while parking the vehicle, the steering wheel seized without warning. the failure recurred two times. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v483000 (steering) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. the failure mileage was approximately 43,000. parts distribution disconnect.
