There was a recall on the steering wheel clock spring on the volkswagen cc. instead of replacing the clock spring in my car, there was a temporary 'rubber bamd' placed on the steering wheel clock. the following week, the entire steering wheel clock broke and the air bag light came on. i cannot use any of the functions on my steering wheel. the dealership claims that the problem was fixed according to the recall and it's nothing they can do about it.

Air bag light is on after 6 months of taking the car to the dealer to repair the issue after the recall. went back to dealer and they want to charge me to fix the issue.

Vw clock spring recall investigation driving down the road at 35-40 mph and the car beeps with "error: airbag" then the steering wheel made a weird noise. the horn and controls on the steering wheel are not working. i took it to the vic bailey vw dealership and they said it was the clock spring that needed to be replaced. i know there is an investigation into the previous recall and i believe that my car was affected but not included in the recall.

Upon attempting to start the vehicle, an error light turns on and message displays the steering column is defective and continues to flash/beep. if i try to drive the vehicle, steering feels loose when driving. sometimes vehicle does not start at all and states active immobilizer, sometimes the car dies just after starting and steering column locks up.

Car will only start intermittently. idles before starting sometime on the 3rd try or not at all. lights flash during idle on dash board

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 volkswagen cc. while in park, the air bag warning light illuminated. in addition, the contact stated that all the controls on the steering wheel failed to function. the vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the steering wheel clock spring and steering column needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 33,000.

Error air bag error was the error that appears on my display when i turn on car. horn & all buttons on steering wheel stopped working. this is on the vw cc year is 2012. i am told by service department it is due to a failure of the clockspring hence i must replace the clockspring with control unit and part only is almost 450 dollars, and labor is additional.

Turning the steering wheel at low speed as i was exiting a parking lot and heard a metallic sound and steering got very tight, several warning leds presented on the dash display indicating air bag failures. all features incorporated with the steering wheel were inoperable including the horn. took vehicle to vw dealer, service tech codes indicated the sccm module/clock spring has failed and needs to be replaced asap at a cost of ~ $ 800.00

I have never had any problems. never in an accident or had anything replaced. all maintenance up to date. started the car with no issues. continued to drive going 35mph normal driving conditions and multiple warning lights appeared. abs. power steering, emergency brake, and air bag. took it to closest auto repair to make sure nothing dangerous was about to occur. quick diagnostic and they said all problems are electrical. nothing physically wrong with the car and will likely need new sensors and clockspring. *tr

Vehicle was being turned around in a parking lot when a clicking noise was heard. the air bag light illuminated and all of the steering wheel functions (i.e. horn, radio controls, etc.) stopped working. took it into the volkswagen dealership and was informed that it was the "clock spring " in the steering wheel was in need of replacement. *tr
