Summer 2012 the cross member holding the spare tire fell off while i was driving. now (january 2014) a large (three inch) perforation has appeared in the front frame. the truck frame is rotting out fast. *tr

I was traveling down an interstate when a rear tire blew out. the tire is a toyo cross country a/t. he tire separated completely leaving the sidewalls on the rim and the tread & belts & rest of the tire tore off in one piece. luckily, there was no accident/ injury. i looked up recalls and found there is a recall. i did not receive a notice. i have tried to contact toyo and been on hold for over an hour at a time, left message without return call. the tires have less than 20,000 miles on them. i am now very concerned about the safety of the three remaining tires. there was only minor property damage to the truck. *jb

I was driving about 40 miles per hour my 2005 toyota tacoma on the freeway in light rain. the steering completely went out of control and my truck began fishtailing. i tapped on the brakes lightly but the truck continued accelerating faster. i ended up hitting the concrete barrier and was placed in the ambulance. i now suffer from lower back and possible torn ligaments in the neck. before the accident there has been a couple of incident where the steering veers of for no reason and sometimes the steering shakes when i drive. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 toyota tacoma. the vehicle has el dorado sport fury suv tires, size p225/75r15. while driving 10 mph, the rear passenger side tire blew out. the dealer replaced the tire with a regular sized spare tire. the tire failure mileage was 1,500. the vehicle current and failure mileages were 37,000. updated 5/18/09 *cn the consumer stated when she slowed down to make a right hand turn, the tire hit the curb and blew out. updated 05/19/09.*jb

I am currently driving a 2005 toyota tacoma x runner. there are cracks across the treads of at least two of the four tires on the truck (bridgestone potenza tires). i went to a bridgestone shop and they told me to drive across the street and talk to the toyota dealership. the toyota dealership told me there was nothing they could do. i do not feel safe driving a vehicle with cracks across the entire tread face. i am not the only person with this problem, nearly all of the x runner drivers have the same problem; some of which get the tires replaced or get the run-around like myself. please help me. i am a college student and i need safe transportation. *jb

I recently opened a corporate case against the toyota of stuart dealership. this is not the first incident that i have had with them, but this is the most recent. on july 26, 2006, i noticed some grease all inside the rim of my tire. i brought the truck into the dealership. i talked to the service department to try and explain the problem. i was told, we know what it is, we will order the rear seals and call you when they come in. no one looked at my vehicle!!! i was told to leave and i would get a phone call. on july 27, 2006 at 10:30 am while in a left hand turn, i applied the brake lightly at a speed of approximately 30 mph. the truck very quickly spun around and backwards into a guard rail. i called the dealership and was told to bring the truck back to them. they assured me that because of the grease on the wheel and being made to think that it was safe to drive, that the dealership would take care of the damage to the vehicle. this happened, fortunately on a road with minimal traffic, not on i-95. i often think about what could have happened if i was driving on the highway. i could have seriously injured myself, or someone else. i could have had my 5 year old in my vehicle going to camp. anything serious could have happened. fortunately, it did not. after bringing the truck in and many phone calls and trips to the dealership, i was told after two weeks, by the manager of the dealership that i needed to call my insurance company. this was so my insurance would pay for the damages. this is totally wrong. i could have been seriously injured or even worse! if they would have checked my vehicle, it would have been deemed unfit to drive. i am not a mechanic. now the dealership wants my $500.00 deductible payment. you have got to be kidding me! i must say, i am very sorry that i bought a toyota vehicle. if i had to do over again, i would not do so. this is a terrible way ...

My concern is that the tires on oem tires on my vehicle (2005 toyota tacoma x-runner) are defective. i had a "split" in my tire and i took it to bridgestone and they said that they are aware of this problem and they replaced all of my tires, not just the problem one with no questions. where my concern comes in is that i know other with the same vehicle as i have and they exact same problem, but the bridgestone rep. in their area is telling them that they don't know anything about this problem and they will not do anything about it. if the tire is unsafe and some area know about this and are fixing it why are not all the areas aware of this. i feel that they are knowingly putting lives at risk by allowing this to go on with no solution. *jb

I have a 2005 toyota tacoma x-runner. i have tires that are splitting across the tread. it seem that every model of this truck is having the same problem and no recall is being done. http://www.customtacos.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46086&page=17&highlight=tire i do not feel safe with my tires splitting. and no one seems to be trying to take care of this problem. my auto is only 8 months old, and i don't want to replace 5 $260 a tire out of my own pocket. *nm

I own a 2005 toyota tacoma x-runner. the truck came stock with bridgestone potenza's ra050 (255/45/18) tires on it. both rear tires started cracking along the tread of the tire. a number of other x-runner owners began having the same problem (customtacos.com, look for x-runner tire problem). *nm

2005 toyota tacoma x-runner purchased the truck in august of 2005 with 2k miles on it and noticed there is a large crack across the rear right tire. i would like to inform you that other people with the same truck are having the same problems. i'm not sure if this is a safety issue yet. for more information, the forum is at www.customtacos.com under x-runner talk / tire problems. *nm

I'm reporting this for my friend with a 2005 toyota x-runner with the original oem bridgestone potenza re050 18" tires. the tire has a split all the way across the right rear tire that looks as if it is a gash. looked at all of the other tires and the right front one is just starting to show signs of splitting in the same manner. vehicle has just about 3,000 miles. many other people i know that have x-runners are having the same exact problem, some of which have all 4 tires that are split. the dot # on all 4 tires on this truck are y79b jac 0805. other tires i've seen affected have different dot #'s as well. as of now, nothing has been tried to fix the problem as many people i know with have had a hard time trying to get them replaced as bridgestone/firestone will not admit a defect yet. i have taken a couple pictures that are at the following links for your examination. right rear tire http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a193/14asg/picture165.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a193/14asg/picture164.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a193/14asg/picture166.jpg right front tire http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a193/14asg/picture172.jpg *jb

I own a 2005 toyota tacoma x-runner, the factory bridgestone tires are getting big cracks across them. after some research it appears this is an on going issue with this tire on this truck link: http://www.customtacos.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?cat=&number=559915&page=1&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=186&fpart=38&vc=1. *nm

Rear passenger tire splitting across the tire treads. only 18,000 miles on vehicle 2005 toyota tacoma x-runner. *nm

My 2005 toyota x-runner, with only 4,000 miles from new, has the original equipment tires (3 of the 4) showing a splitting of the tire from left to right along 90 percent the tread. the tires are bridgestone potenza re050a 255/45r18. *nm

Dt: 2005 toyota tacoma xrunner. the consumer states the tires from the factory have a crack on the tread, perpendicular to the way the vehicle turns. this is a bridgestone potenza, re050. tire. this is on the passenger side rear tire. the firestone dealer states it is nothing the consumer has done or run over. they are going to replace the defective tire. the consumer feels all of the tires need to be replaced. there were 3,500 miles on the vehicle when this happened. the consumer noticed the problem august 22, 2005.*ak on sept. 1, 2005 the consumer noticed that both front tires also had cracks in the tread. the local firestone dealer replaced 4 tire (they refused to replace the spare) with new bridgestone potenza s03. the damaged tire were given to the local firestone dealer. *nm

I bought a brand new 05 toyota tacoma x-runner, it had about 1,500 mile on the car and the tire had a gash on it all across. it was the passanger side rear tire. the tires come stock from the dealer. i had a problem trying to change it with firestone dealer but after the third firestone dealer they decided to change only the one with the gash. i'm a little worried that the other ones are going to get the gash and might cause me to have an accident. the tires are bridgestone potenza re050 bl 255/45r18 99v. the option for these tires are not on your site.

Well i have a 2005 toyota tacoma x-runner, and it seems like i have been getting a crack on the right rear tire going straight across the tire. im not the only one with this concern. *nm

I have cracking/splitting horizontally across 2 tires. other 2005 toyota tacoma xrunner owners are having the same problem with their factory installed bridgestone potenza re050a tires.

My tire looks like its going to come apart. there is something that looks like a cut from one side of the tire to the other. i havent ran anything over for it to do that. my friend has the same truck and his tire is doing the same thing.my friend and i went to a firestone dealer in san diego and they said they could not do anything until it gets worse.

Dt: the consumer's vehilce has less than 4,000 miles on it. the consuemr indicated that he only drives on paved roads. he has had 2 road hazards. the vehicle was purchased new with the tires on it. the first road hazard the dealer told him it was just a nail. the second road hazard they told him the same thing. the psi recommended for the front tires was 29, but the rear tires was 30. there were no abnormal bulges noticed. there were no warning lights to come on prior to this. the tires are firestone tires. he regularly checks his tire pressure and has them rotated when needed. *ak *nm

Bridgestone re050a tires cracking across the tread. these tires come stock from toyota on the 2005 toyota tacoma x-runner. *nm

2005 toyota tacoma tire failure i would first like to make it clear, this truck has never been used for anything but going back and forth to the grocery store etc. it has never been put into four wheel drive. we purchased it for a cross country trip but were afraid to use it due to the tires wearing out at 3,000 miles and the continued vibration. (fyi-we took a plane) there is no way to get a good balance on the tires on the 2005 toyota truck because of the design of the rims. i have had this vehicle to different dealers in different states and i get the same message for all. the tires wore out within the first 3000 miles and we had them replaced. the truck has a vibration that you can feel in the stirring and is showing uneven tire wear. i was told by a toyota rep. that they were having this trouble with all the new trucks because of a change in design this year. this problem makes it unsafe to travel on interstates because you can't go over 45 without a significant vibration. a factory rep. drove our truck and actually said there was no vibration at 85 mph. he did feel the vibration at lower speeds but said that there was nothing he could do about it. besides the safety factor of the vibration this could be a real safety hazard when people can't afford a new set of tires every 3,000 miles so they drive on worn out tires. *nm

I have a 2005 toyota tacoma 4 door and ever since taking it off the lot 5 days ago, when applying the brakes in any weather, on any surface of road, i get a thumping in the pedal and the steering wheel when applying the brakes to stop. it gets worse with more pressure applied to the brakes. the front end seems to bounce, and feels like it will go out of control. the truck has 230 miles on it, i will be calling the dealer today.

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 toyota tacoma. the vehicle has dunlop grand trek tires. whenever the vehicle is driven over 35 mph, the front end begins to vibrate. the tires have not been diagnosed by the dealer. the failure has occurred ever since the vehicle was purchased. the current and failure mileages were 26,000.
