Recently reported VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL problems on 2005 Toyota Tacoma

Blower motor only works on high. sometimes speed od. doesn't work, sometimes it does. speed od. reads about 5 miles per hour fast. gauges pause for about 10 sec. before working when i first start truck. all started around 120,000 miles.

I was approaching a red;ight in phoenix, a truck was in front of me i applied the brake and the accelerator amped up. the guy i rearended said he saw mer crow hopping as my truck was doing this. i had my foot firmly pressed on the brake as hard as i could. i only stopped when i rear ended him. i was on a city street in phoenix.

I was pulling into a parking spot in front of a building. i was going approx. 1-3 mph due to the lot being wet & had my foot on the brake. when i was almost to the concrete curb, the truck suddenly accelerated, jumped the curb and hit the building. i still had my foot on the brake & shifted into neutral. the engine was revving full throttle, so i turned off the engine. before moving, i checked to make sure nothing was touching the accelerator, which was the case. the airbags didn't deploy but that was because of the angle at which i hit the building. i then restarted the engine an backed off the building. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 toyota tacoma. while driving 5 mph and pulling into a parking space, the vehicle accelerated and the vehicle crashed into a store. when the vehicle accelerated, it burned rubber and left marks at the scene. there were no injuries and a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was not yet diagnosed. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 146,000. updated 05/18/16*lj *cn

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 toyota tacoma. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start occasionally. the vehicle would lose power and fail to accelerate when depressing the accelerator pedal. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the wire harness failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 138,000....updated 02/08/16 *bf *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 toyota tacoma. while the vehicle was in drive, it accelerated independently without the accelerator pedal being depressed. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 09v388000 (vehicle speed control). the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 80,932.

I was slowly turning into my driveway when there was a sudden acceleration of the gas pedal. my truck shot like a bullet (about 40-45 feet) into the corner of my house and deck. the force of the impact sheared a 6x6 deck corner post, knocked the garage small entry door completely loose from it's frame, and did extensive damage to a solid brick wall, as well as damage to the inside of garage. luckily, i did still have my seat belt fastened; however, the air bag did not deploy. i filed a claim with toyota, they sent an inspector, and now have denied that there was any malfunction. i am 100% sure that the acceleration was not "driver's error" and that there is a safety issue here and toyota should be held accountable. the body damage to my truck has been repaired, but i will be getting rid of it. the conversations i have had with the people at toyota's headquarters in torrance, california have certainly been most unpleasant and have left me with a very bad opinion of toyota as a company. i will never have another of their vehicles! i just hope the next person is as lucky as i was and does not get killed or badly injured when his toyota tacoma accelerates for no reason! *tr

My vehicle was parked in the driveway. i started the vehicle and put the gear in drive to move it forward. as soon as i dropped it into drive, the vehicle suddenly accelerated forward with the throttle appearing to be wide open. i had my feet firmly on the brake to keep the vehicle from moving, the back wheels started to slip and "chirp" since the rear end is light. with the accelerator still wide open, i put the gear in neutral and watched as the rpm's shot over 4000. after a few seconds, the accelerator showed no signs of disengaging, so i turned the vehicle off and put the gear in park. this has happened before, so i am always ready in case it happens again. i must constantly drive with one hand on the gear shift, ready to push it into neutral at the first signs of this sudden unintended acceleration. this is the fifth time this has occurred in the past year. toyota continues to claim there is nothing wrong with the vehicle, that i am accidently hitting the gas pedal myself. *tr

2005 toyota tacoma. consumer writes in regards to an unintended acceleration incident with the vehicle. *tgw the consumer stated he was pulling into a parking space, very slowly with his foot on the brake. when he got about 10 feet from the concrete parking block, the vehicle accelerated, and he stomped on the brake. he came to rest against the concrete block, slammed the gear shift into park, at which time the engine raced. he then turned off the engine. the next day, the took the vehicle to the dealer for an inspection. however, there was no onboard record of the incident. *jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 toyota tacoma. the contact stated that while driving 5 mph, the engine rpms increased abnormally as the vehicle lunged forward, causing the contact to crash into another vehicle. there were no injuries and a police report was filed, but he was on site. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 130,000.

Tl- the contact owns a 2005 toyota tacoma. the contact stated that after starting the vehicle, it lunged forward. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage and vin was not available. mh *tr

I was pulling into a curb parking space when suddenly the engine on my truck accelerated. my foot was already on the brake so i pushed all the way to the floor but i was slowly moving forward anyway. my brakes were smoking from trying to stop my truck. i hit the back of a parked car and pushed it approximately two parking spaces before i thought to turn the engine off. *tr

I was pulling into the garage; as i began to brake to bring the truck to a halt, the engine raced and the anti-lock brakes started going off as i stood on the brake pedal. the truck probably would have gone through the back of the garage had i not thrown the gear selector into neutral. this is the third time i've had this experience, but it's the first time i had others in it with me and first time i was worried about getting the vehicle stopped before an accident occurred. i'm beginning to wonder if this vehicle is safe to drive down the road. i'm not sure what the appropriate course of action is. the problem only happens once in a while, so it seems like taking it to the dealer wouldn't produce any results. *tr

Pulled into my driveway to park my 2005 tacoma and all of a sudden my tacoma accelerates forward and plunges into the rear end of my 2000 corvette which was parked in my garage, and does $1321.22 in damage. the force from the tacoma knocked my corvette about 3 feet forward into a freezer in the garage. i was approximately 6 feet behind the corvette, and the corvette was in gear and the emergency brake was applied, when the tacoma suddenly accelerated forward. i have been parking in same location or 9 years and this has never occurred before. i have had all recalls done concerning the sudden acceleration problem with the tacoma. this was not a pedal problem, it is a toyota problem. if his had happened at a intersection who knows what may have happened. someone needs to "fix" this problem. *tr

In june 2013 i was approaching an interstate entrance ramp. as i slowed down (foot on the brake) to make the right turn onto the ramp, the vehicle suddenly accelerated, causing the rear end to "fish tail" around, jumping the curb on the right side of the ramp and sending the vehicle down the embankment. i was able to get the vehicle to stop before hitting the fence at the bottom of the hill. since this first incident in june 2013, the vehicle has had three more incidents in june, july and august of 2014. the last incident in august occurred as i was pulling into a parking spot. again, i was slowing down (foot on the brake) when the vehicle suddenly accelerated causing me to strike the parked vehicle in front of me. the incidents in june and july 2014 were also similar parking lot incidents with no other vehicles around. after the august 2014 incident, i started to "connect the dots" and took the vehicle to the toyota dealership. however, they found no problem with the vehicle. i find this very strange given all of the known issues toyota has had with sudden unintended acceleration (sua). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 toyota tacoma pre-runner. the contact stated that while completing a three-point-turn, she applied the brakes and the rpm's started increased abnormally. the vehicle then accelerated without warning, causing the contact to crash into a parked vehicle. the contact was not injured. the police were contacted and a report was filed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. the manufacturer was contacted and advised her that her vehicle should not have experienced the failure due to nhtsa campaign id number 09v388000 (vehicle speed control) being performed on the vehicle previously. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were approximately 73,469. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 toyota tacoma. the contact stated after shifting her vehicle in reverse gear, the rpms increased. the contact shut the vehicle off and restarted it three times and it began to function normally; however, within in minutes while driving approximately 35 to 40 mph the accelerator pedal jammed without warning. the contact immediately placed the vehicle into neutral gear after the brakes failed. the vehicle was not inspected by a dealer nor an independent mechanic. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. the failure and current mileage was approximately 59,000.

2005 toyota tacoma. consumer writes in regards to safety recall notice. *tgw the consumer stated he took the vehicle to the dealer, where they found three other things wrong with the vehicle, which did not pertain to the recall. the consumer stated is seemed the dealer wanted to get paid first, for other things, they claimed were wrong with his vehicle. updated 02/06/13

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 toyota tacoma. the contact stated while driving 25 mph, a crash occurred. the contact stated that the floor mat caused the accelerator pedal to get stuck. the driver applied the brake pedal and the vehicle crashed into a tree. the driver and passenger sustained injuries. the vehicle was destroyed and the air bags did not deploy. a police report was filed. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 55,000.

2005 toyota tacoma. consumer requests reimbursement for recall repairs on vehicle. *smd the consumer stated his request for reimbursement was denied for the recalls and toyota never provided him with an explanation. the consumer has since traded the vehicle.

2005 toyota tacoma. consumer states unintended acceleration *tgw the consumer stated approximately 2 1/2 years ago, he experienced his first sudden acceleration problem. the consumer stated as he had his right foot on the brake, the vehicle felt as though it wanted to continue to move forward. when the consumer arrived home, he checked the floor mat, but it was found to be properly secured. the consumer received a safety recall notice regarding sudden acceleration issues. when he contacted the dealer, he was informed the parts were not available and he would receive a call when they arrived. the second occurrence happened while driving 10 mph. the consumer had his foot on the brake pedal, when the engine suddenly begin to revved up with the rear wheels spinning and hopping while slowly moving forward. the consumer turned the ignition in the over drive position and there was some difficulty trying to place the shifter in the park position. the consumer finally took the vehicle to the dealer to have the recall performed. however, two months later, while slowing down, with his foot on the brake, the engine began to rev again. the consumer experienced unwanted acceleration several more times. *jb

Drove about 12 miles from my home to my doctors office, and was attempting to pull into a parking space. i had to back up a few feet to get a better angle to enter the parking space. when shifting from reverse into drive, with my foot on the brake, the pickup suddenly accelerated to its maximum rpm. i hit a car in the parking space next to where i was attempting to park, and with my foot on the brake pushed the car out of the parking lot. i was able to finally get the gear shift into park, and the engine was still at maximum rpm. i turned the ignition switch off and called the police. the police noted that skid marks indicated the brake was applied throughout the event and declared the vehicle unsafe to drive and ordered it impounded. it was hauled to a body shop for about $1700 in bumper replacement cost and then hauled to a nearby toyota dealer for inspection. they claimed to find nothing wrong. i complained to toyota and they had an independent inspector to go over the vehicle and they sent me a letter saying that they could find nothing wrong with the accelerator or brakes. further complaints to toyota and our insurance company have yielded no results. my neck was injured in the accident and we have asked toyota to buy the pickup back from us, and so far they have refused. *tr

I experienced sudden unintended acceleration in my 2005 tacoma pickup while parking. i was turning left into a parking spot and applying the brake when the tacoma suddenly accelerated jumping the parking curve. i stopped the vehicle by applying heavy pressure on the brake pedal and throwing the automatic drive into neutral and then park. i checked to see if i could have been stepping on the accelerator by mistake but the loud rubber screeching of the tires were a sure indication that my brakes were being applied as the car surged forward. also i inspected the floor mat (which had already been inspected by toyota) and saw that there was no interference with the accelerator. i immediately brought the car to the dealership but they just referred me to toyota usa via a phone number. i have called toyota usa and reported the incidence. i definitely believe there is a defect in this car and this needs to be address. this is dangerous. this is not the first time this has occurred. in 2006 i went to the dealership and asked if there was a recall or service bulletin regarding this problem. they said there was none at that time. i regret not pursuing it further because it appears that toyota has done little to remedy the situation. thank you

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 toyota tacoma. the contact stated that as she shifted into reverse and applied the brakes the vehicle exhibited an abnormal increase in engine rpms. she then shifted into park but the failure did not cease and the vehicle was shut off. the vehicle was inspected by an authorized dealer and they advised her that they were unable to diagnose the vehicle or able to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 78,000.

2005 toyota tacoma. consumer is expressing discontent with the service received for the floor mat interference recall. *kb the consumer stated according to the invoice, the accelerator pedal was modified. the consumer stated when he questioned the service tech about replacing the all weather floor mats, she was unaware of that portion of the recall. the consumer showed her a copy of the recall notice. the service tech then asked someone else and the response was; no all weather floor mats have been received for the recall. the consumer asked if he could be placed on a list, he was informed he would have to call in about two months to see if any were available. on two separate occasions, the consumer experienced sudden acceleration. *jb

The vehicle in question, 2005 toyota tacoma , continued to accelerate after releasing the accelerator pedal. i repeatedly depressed the brake pedal to no avail as the vehicle rammed into a chain link fence. the fence slowed the momentum of the vehicle as vehicle acceleration continued. i then completely remove my foot up from the brake and hit the brake very hard at least two to three times until the accelerator finally broke loose and acceleration stopped. the vehicle did not show any sign of a problem prior to the accelerator hanging up. it just occurred randomly.

Several months ago we received a recall notice on our 2005 toyota tacoma. we took the truck to champion toyota austin tx on thursday sept 23 2010 to have it repaired under the recall. when my wife picked up the truck later she immediately noticed that the lower half of the pedal had been cut off and that she was not able to safely drive the vehicle, her foot cannot reach the accelerator pedal. we contacted the dealership the same afternoon, and since then have tried to get this resolved by phone and email. we have been told repeatedly by toyota that nothing can be done. this repair is unsafe. we live about 5 miles from the dealer. my wife was almost rear ended on the way home when her foot slipped off the pedal. our biggest safety concern is that she now has to move the seat so far forward to reach the accelerator that her chest is in contact with the steering wheel - airbag. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 toyota tacoma. the contact was stopped on a bridge with the brakes depressed when there was an abnormal increase in engine rpms. the vehicle then began to independently creep forward. the contact depressed the brakes but to no avail. the vehicle then accelerated and although the contact applied extreme force to the brake pedal, the vehicle proceeded to crash into another vehicle. the contact shifted into neutral and turned the vehicle off. there were no injuries. the vehicle was undamaged. the manufacturer advised that the failure was caused by the floor mats and referred the contact to the local dealer. the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure and advised the vehicle was safe to drive. the current and failure mileages were approximately 40,000.

2nd time a gas pedal stuck on my 2005 toyota tacoma truck leading to a 2nd collision with property damage to my truck & the car in front of me. coming up to a red light with plenty of room to stop on a flat rd. there where skid marks from my truck and i had both feet on the brake and the engine increased inspeed. the dealer still does not have the parts to repair this problem even after my first accident in june of last year and again in july of this year. toyota said they would turn it over to there legal dept. and the truck was to be inspected by a engineering firm from the west. the inspection firm was in a hurry to inspect the truck and called in july now they won't return my calls. this firm was hired by toyota. also during the repair it was found that the air bag had shorted out and did not deploy. if you have one of toyota's trucks on the recall list be very careful and don't expect any help from the dealer or toyota fixing the problem. as i said it is the 2nd time for both items to fail. *tr

Short in the button to turn the cruse control on sometimes it works but i have to push it at least 200 times. the second thing is a short in the over head compas/temperature gauge it just does not work any more.

10/27/05, 12/05 & 5/25/10 little or no acceleration. 10/23/09 stepped on brake but it accelerated instead of stopping & almost got killed. 11/18/09, 12/16/09 & 1/16/09 throttle sticks & engine races kept foot on brake & immediately threw it into neutral so it wouldn't take off again. toyota keeps repairing but these problems keep recurring at our expense case #[xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 toyota tacoma. the contact stated that when she attempted to stop the vehicle, it suddenly accelerated. the contact depressed the brake pedal but the vehicle did not stop until it crashed into a wall. the vehicle was being inspected by the dealer when the complaint was filed. the current and failure mileages were approximately 94,000.

As the vehicle was stopped in the parking spot it suddenly accelerated on its own. i applied as much pressure as possible but it continued to move forward. i proceeded 8 to 10 feet between a pine tree and satellite dish and additional 25 feet before the acceleration stopped. i believe in the course of the situation i slightly moved my foot to exert more pressure which in turn disengaged the malfunction. deep ruts were visible at the scene of the accident. *tr

The third of three incidences occurred on 3-10-10 while traversing a parking lot which, at the time of the accident, i thought sloped down into a lower parking lot. at the edge of the upper parking lot it became apparent that there was a two to three foot vertical drop into the lower lot. i applied the brakes and continued over the edge. upon impact with the lower lot, the vehicle accelerated and, after swerving to avoid a parked vehicle, became uncontrollable. this resulted in the vehicle making impact with a building on the edge of the parking lot. *tr

Tl* the contact owns 2005 toyota tacoma. while placing the vehicle in the park position, there was a sudden increase in engine rpms and the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning. the vehicle crashed into a wall causing moderate damage to the front end. there were no injuries. a police report was filed. the vehicle was able to be driven away from the scene and it was taken to the dealer. the dealer attempted to duplicate the failure but to no avail. the manufacturer could not be contacted. the insurance company refused assistance since a claim was not filed. the failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was unknown.

I was skeptical about this brake override until the sudden acceleration actually happened to me on 3/5/2010. i was on the freeway traveling 50 mph in moderate traffic when a construction truck decided to turn into my lane. i gave it a quick punch to avoid a collision when i felt my rpm's kept climbing as i was no longer on the pedal. i panicked and tried to apply the brakes to no response, so i tapped the shifter into neutral. at this point my car is still accelerating in redline. finally, the car snaps out of it and i have control again. i slow down, shift back into d and continue my commute to school. in the past, i have noticed a few times there have been a slight lunge in acceleration just after the transmission switches gears. i love my tacoma. i have been in denial and have been hoping, wishing that there isn't a problem. but for the safety of myself and my passengers, i am going to make sure this problem is noted before anyone one gets hurt. i would hate for anything serious to happen and leave people wondering. i feel the need to report this complaint. could this be something as simple as a stuck throttle body? i hope the resolution to this will be simple and rewarding, i would hate to give up this truck. toyota tacoma 2005 access cab 4.0 v6 ~90,000 miles at time of incident owned current vehicle from august 2009 up to present date march 6, 2010. *tr

I was driving about 40 miles per hour my 2005 toyota tacoma on the freeway in light rain. the steering completely went out of control and my truck began fishtailing. i tapped on the brakes lightly but the truck continued accelerating faster. i ended up hitting the concrete barrier and was placed in the ambulance. i now suffer from lower back and possible torn ligaments in the neck. before the accident there has been a couple of incident where the steering veers of for no reason and sometimes the steering shakes when i drive. *tr

I was in a parking lot w/ my 05 tacoma and needed to perform a k turn. i stopped, put the truck in reverse, and it felt like it went full throttle for about 2-3 seconds. i had to slam on the brake immediately and was able to stop the vehicle before hitting any of the parked cars. the same event occurred moments later when i had to back out of some heavy snow in the same parking lot. i have received a letter about floor mats last year and haven't had them in the driver's side since last october. it also did not seem to be a pedal issue. the throttle seemed to open immediately after the shifting into reverse. i reported the incident to my insurance company. no repairs have been done. *tr

Driving a 2005 toyota tacoma no visible adverse weather, cold/ truck slid sideways, accelerated even though the brakes were depressed to the floor. vehicle rolled three times. vehicle continued to idle up even after it was on its side . contacted toyota, given an incident reference number, no response from toyota. *tr

My incident occurred while driving my 2005 toyota tacoma on january 26th 2010. i was approaching an intersection where i had a red stop light and slowed the truck to an almost stop. my foot was on the brake pedal and it was nearly to the floor but not all the way yet. then very suddenly the truck lurched forward at which point i jammed my foot down hard on the brake pedal. then the truck sort of jumped three times during which i had my foot completely pressed on the brake pedal. the gas pedal was pumping by itself. thankfully the truck stopped about one foot from the oncoming traffic and they were able to get around me. the truck traveled approximately 15 feet during this time where i had my foot on the brake pedal. i have not had another situation like that since. but had no warning the last time and am very worried next time i will not be as lucky. *tr

While driving my 2005 toyota tacoma truck, i approached a stop sign and applied pressure to the brakes. instead of slowing down, the truck suddenly accelerated. to avoid hitting a car in front of me, i swerved into a yard and put the truck into neutral. this enabled me to bring the truck to a complete stop. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 toyota tacoma. he stated that the driver's side floor mat was secured by two 1.5 inch hooks. the hooks were able to spin around completely over a 3-inch radius, catching only in one direction to prevent the floor mat from moving. while entering the vehicle, the contact's foot would grip the floor mat and due to the movement in the hooks, the floor mats would move forward becoming stuck under the accelerator pedal. he had this several times while getting in and out of the vehicle; however, there were no unintended acceleration incidents due to the failure of the floor mats. the dealer could not provide a remedy for the failure although they did state that they were aware of the frequency of the issue. the contact stated that the floor mat dual hooks were poorly designed and was concerned with possible pedal entrapment. the failure and current mileages were 69,000.

2005 toyota tacoma truck would accelerate, going uphill. i was able to gain control by braking. cruise control was not on. this has occurred over 10 times. *tr

Sudden acceleration in a 2005 toyota tacoma prerunner causing loss of control and collision with a kentucky fried chicken building. vehicle was a total loss. three occupants apparently unhurt. *tr

On the day of december 10, 2009 i was arriving home from work as i always do. i was preparing to park my 2005 toyota tacoma truck in front of the garage as i always do. as i began to back up the engine roared causing the truck to plunge backward into the garage door and house. i was unable to stop the vehicle even while having my foot on the brake. however this was not the first time this had happened. the first time was at a traffic light. as i stopped at the light, with a car in front of me, with my foot on the brake the engine roared and the tires screeched causing the truck to accelerate . fortunately i was able to put the truck in neutral allowing me to avoid slamming into the car. the second time i was taking my wife to her oncologist appointment for a chemotherapy treatment. as i approached the turnpike booth to get my ticket the engine again roared and plunged forward and i was unable to get my ticket. thank god there was no car in front of us. i was finally able to bring the truck to a stop by placing it in neutral. again visibly shaken, i turned the truck around explained to the ticket taker what had happened and i returned home. i immediately called the dealer where i had purchased the vehicle and asked if they had heard of any similar incident. they informed me they had not heard of this before. at this point in time no one is willing to help resolve this problem. i am unable and unwilling to use this truck because i am afraid something fatal my happen. *tr

I have a toyota tacoma 2005. on december 6, 2009 at approximately 3pm i was heading south on i-190 in niagara falls ny. cruise was on,but had to tap breaks because of slower moving vehicle. this did disengage the cruise & my truck began to slow down. when the car moved over i depressed the accelerator and at that time the truck went into overdrive/passing gear. the motor was roaring and i had no breaks . they were like a rock.it accelerated to over 94mph.it then disengaged on it's own& the speed decreased. i then turned off the cruise control not sure how long this went on but it seemed like an hour. and yes i panicked. this is not a mat problem / this truck is a death trap. i was told it could not be repaired until april of 2010 (5months). *tr

I was pulling up behind a car at a redlight, applying my brakes, when the brakes seemed to vibrate. suddenly, my 2005 toyota tacoma's engine revved violently and the truck jumped forward and hit the car in front. my foot was pressing as hard as i could the entire time. i had to throw the truck into neutral. following the accident report, i had the truck towed to my toyota dealership. hopefully they will do right by me as this was clearly not my fault! i refuse to drive it until they discover what went wrong. i can say that it was not a floormat issue! *tr

2005 toyota tacoma--it's not the floor mat! unintentional acceleration problem. backing to turn around, looking over my right shoulder and turning the steering wheel to the left. when moving my right foot from throttle to brake, the truck suddenly accelerated and the harder i braked, the faster it went. stopped the movement by shutting off the engine. what happened: in the position i was in, twisted to look over my right shoulder, when moving my foot to the brake, i inadvertently failed to move my foot completely onto to the brake and off the throttle. my foot engaged both pedals and the brakes did not engage until the brake pedal was pressed down far enough to also press on the throttle. this has happened to me 3 times, fortunately in my driveway and there were no collisions. the problem is that the brake pedal goes down too low before actually activating the brakes. the solution is to design so that the brakes engage when the pedal is a little higher than the throttle. is it just me? could be, but i have been driving for 50 years and this has never happened with any other vehicle. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 toyota tacoma. while attempting to accelerate past another vehicle, the accelerator became stuck to the floor-board. he had to turn the ignition to accessory, which caused the engine to stall. the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealership. the current and failure mileages were 53995.

Often times when i am braking to a stop in my 2005 toyota tacoma, i feel the truck lurch forward. i have been able to stop the truck by applying more pressure to the brake, but the truck still wants to move forward. i generally leave ample distance between myself and the cars in front of me. this has prevented two rear end accidents. *tr
