Attempting to travel in my 2013 prius five during xmas was driving and approaching a red and while trying to stop pedal went directly to floor and skid light went on and barely avoided what should be an easy stop!! weather clear felt a drag and no coasting ability... car has 21,000 miles and is in perfect appearance but far from in peak condition as this car from brand new had issues i got tired waiting for toyota to fix. cruise control, brakes, bluetooth, engine wrapping sounds on startup, i am told the brake issue since new is now a 3,000+ repair and since it showed no code at dealer i would have to pay! merry xmas toyota! what is nhtsa waiting for??? i am shocked at both for inaction so i will make some call to my elected officials this has to be fixed. toyota is becoming gm who would have figured?? my other prius issues matter less when brakes don't stop you reasonably and the repair is over 3,000 on a car with 21,000 well cared for miles...
My 2008 toyota prius shut off while i was driving on the road i could've involved in big accident if i was on a highway the way it shutdown without any warning sign. it just suddenly stopped
As i was driving 55-65 mph on the highway, the check hybrid system alert came on, and all of a sudden i lost power. i was able to make it home but going up hill it would not go faster than 35 mph, and 40-50 mph on flat ground. this happened on a busy highway where the average speed is 55-65 mph
In the middle of driving my car on nov 18 & nov 21st, the engine revs extremely loud followed by the inability to actually drive my car, like its shutting down on me. in a matter of about 5 seconds and it not allowing me to drive or accelerate it returns to normal. it has happened twice this week and thought for sure i would find a recall on this extremely dangerous issue but to no avail. it happened both times on a well traveled two-lane highway. i was driving about 35-40mph. i was fortunate enough no one was directly behind me both times. incredibly dangerous! toyota please do a recall asap!
When driving at higher speeds than 40 mph, my check engine light, and check my hybrid system light is turned on. when it turned on, i was unable to accelerate, however i was able to pull over, and restart my car. i have recently come in to get a software update for the factory recall related to the issue. however my inverter has been damaged as well. on this website it states if my inverter is damaged related to the recall, it will be repaired free of charge. however the toyota dealership charged me for diagnostic, and requested payment for the replacement of my inverter. i also have given toyota a call as well, they have stated that the recall only will consist of a software update. i was unable to get anyone from toyota to help me with my repair of my inverter thus far.
I was driving on a highway 95 south, almost to delaware, at night in the rain, after 4 hours on the road, everything stopped working. i couldn't accelerate, i had no brakes, and eventually even my lights went out. the entire electrical system was out. i was in heavy traffic, and don't even know how i got off the highway, and to a gas station. the tow truck driver couldn't even jump the battery enough to get the car in neutral, and had a difficult time getting it up on the flatbed to tow it home. i couldn't even lock the doors. i had a new key made at the dealership on 10/17/19 and i was using that key for hours driving to ct and a couple of days later i was half way home when everything in the car stopped working. i was towed to my home in md because i needed to be able to unpack my car and computer before taking it to the dealership. when the second tow came the next day, i handed him the key by the front door, which was my ...
Exsesive oil consumption. need to add oil ( 2 quarts or more) between oil changes
I was making a left turn at a very busy los angeles intersection and during needed acceleration to turn, the prius lost power for a full second and then power came back slowly and i barely made it through the intersection, a t bone collision was imminent, and i missed getting hit by inches. all the warning lights on the dash illuminated and i was frazzled. the hybrid battery was 2/3 rds full at the time. there have been other instances where the car lost power for brief moments when the hybrid battery was low and didnt think anything of it at the time. the mpg has remained below 40 and after hybrid failure, around 26. also, i had a gen 2 prius and the catalytic converter went bad around 150,000. california punishes consumers by not allowing after market cats and forces them to buy oem at an extreme mark up. without a proper cat, you cant have cal smog approval, no approval, no registration. total waste of resource when the actual cost of replacement of the cat is around $2k at the dealer. if i lived in az, after market is $475. at that point a car ...
