Recently reported SERVICE BRAKES problems on 2016 Toyota Corolla

Continuing problem when foot is on brake pedal and hit a bump in road, grinding noise and vibration sensation in pedal. toyota dealer says brakes are ok. today this happened but this time the grinding noise was pronounced and the car would not brake - fortunately i was not driving at a high rate of speed and barely stopped in time before almost rear ending car in front of me. i have found several complaints on line of the same problem.

On 1/1/2020 while the vehicle was in motion on the city street; and when attempting to depress the brake pedal, the vehicle brakes started to grind and the vehicle would not stop. this same brake failure occurrence with the vehicle, reoccurred two more times intermittently. luckily there was no other vehicles nearby that could have resulted in a crash

I was driving my normal commute to work yesterday (june 6, 2019), heading west on broward blvd at about 45 mph. i was approaching a red light, so i pressed the brake pedal as usual...except nothing happened!! i'm not sure if it even slowed at all because i was panicking since there was nowhere to go. i pressed down harder, and still nothing! so, i knew i was going to impact the car in front of me, and i did. i was so confused. it was the scariest experience of my life! not only that. now, my right leg is sore from braking so hard, and my airbags deployed. so, my insurance company may declare my car a total loss. i'm so frustrated and upset. i'm just happy that the person i hit was okay with no injuries. i'm also happy to be alive, but this is so frustrating because i've already spent so much on that car and can't imagine incurring another financial burden to purchase a new one.

Brakes began making grinding noise when applied in during stop and go traffic. was taken to dealership where i was told brakes are fine. as soon as i left i began hearing noise again while applying brakes and called them back but was told nothing could be done since no issue.

Takata recall, i was driving home in stop in go traffic on freeway and the truck in front of me speed up. once i accelerated to about 20-25 miles an hour the truck stopped, i saw it and tried to stop but brakes would not work. there was a grinding noise that you could feel and hear as well as wouldn't let you push all the way down on brakes. this resulted in me hitting the person in front of me. hood is pushed up and front bumper completely off as well as light damage and more but no airbags were deployed. all 3 of my children were in the car with me and this is a hug safety issue.

Brakes are not enough stronge power steering light turn on the steering wheel is so hard to manipulate

I was driving on a city street at 15 mph and when my foot pressed the brake (for 2 seconds), the engine revved and the vehicle accelerated for a couple of seconds before braking fully.

I was driving and was exiting a freeway. as i was applying the brake, the brake was not engaging, and was making a hissing sound every time i pressed the brake pedal trying to stop the car. after applying the brake several times, the brakes finally engaged and abruptly stopped the car, coming just inches from the car which was stopped in front of me. while this had occurred and for a couple of weeks afterward, the anti-lock display light would not turn on. the anti-lock brake light eventually started to work again couple of weeks after this incident.

On 08/07/2018, i was in a car (2016 toyota corolla) accident where another car slammed me in the rear and i've hit a chevy pickup in the back. the pick-up was coming to a stop which i was slowing down as well and i'm assuming the car that was behind did not paid attention. therefore, he hit me between 45-50 mph in the back which i've hit the truck abruptly at 30-35mph. my airbags did not deploy which is very shocking and my shoulder along with my arm slammed into the steering wheel. also, i had a hard time with my brakes because it felt like it was stuck and wouldn't go down as i was pressing on it. i'm suffering from intense right leg pain as if i've torn the muscle but 10x's worst. ever since the accident, my leg has been going numb quite frequently which goes into my toes. i'm walking with a limp and my shoulder has sharp pain as well. i'm starting to think that my airbags were defective because it should have deploy as soon as the impact occurred but it didn't...

Takata recall. i was recently in an accident on friday 6/15. i was rear ended by a ford explorer going 60 miles per hour while i was stopped in traffic on i495. this collision caused me to rear end the car in front of me. the airbags did not deploy which caused me to slam my head into the steering wheel. i went to the hospital where i was diagnosed with a concussion. since the accident i have still had headaches and sensitivity to light. i also have had severe bruising due to the impact. prior to the collision i had sticky brakes which sometimes i would break and the break would not halt properly,, but when pressed again the car would brake. during the accident the brakes did this sticky effect and caused the impact to be greater.

Tamara inflator recall. i parked my car overnight, it was just fine, no problems. when i started it the next morning ebs and brake warning light came on.i didn't even move the car. now i'm told the sensors mat be out. had my brakes checked they are good. i just don't understand why this happened to a car that wasn't even moving. the car was parked in my driveway and locked

Driving my sister home from hospital as we neared intersection the traffic light changed to red of the six cars in front of me four went into the left turn lane as traffic slowed down upon applying brakes i didn't get any response, approximately two plus car lengths separated forward vehicle and my car i tried applying brakes again holding steady pressure still no response the inevitable happened my car running into the rear of the suv in front of me.

When going over small bumps, ditches, or any abrasions my brakes skid and keeps going and i have to swerve or go around to find solid road to stop my car. it happens all the time not occasionally. i've had my brakes inspected by pep boy, and my personal mechanics that i trust and they say the brakes and rotors are perfect. i'm not sure what's the cause. it's been happening since i got the vehicle, i figured i should just drive slow but it doesn't help and i recently almost rear ended another vehicle due to the issue.

Accident due to breaks locking and the car continued to roll. back seat passenger seat belt did not lock causing passenger to fly forward and back; injured breast bone driver air bag from steering wheel did not inflate fully.

Several times the seat belt chime wouldn't stop although seat belt connected. brakes screeching when trying to come to a stop. took more effort than should for brakes to stop the car. the first time this happened, i had only had the car for two days. the second time it occurred was right after the 5000 mile maintenance service. it happened two times afterwards and one time today. i was driving any where from 25 mph to 55 mph. so far i have been lucky but i am beginning to be afraid to drive my car. the last time this happens was today.

Several times, i have experienced "brake failure" along with a grinding noise. braking system must be the problem. however, the dealership says everything is working properly. i have taken it to the dealership 2 times since i purchased the new car. the first incident was in october 2016 - with only 1784 miles. on may 1, 2017; i applied my brakes upon approaching a "stop sign". unfortunately, the pedal went to the floor( i could feel the grinding in the brake pedal)and there was a delay in my car coming to a complete stop. i took the car to the dealership, again. according to the service department, there is nothing wrong with the braking system. i do not have any warning when the brakes fail to work. it doesn't seem to matter if i am traveling at a slow or higher rate of speed. please investigate this problem. i am very concerned and the toyota company doesn't seem to be concerned about this issue.

Upon entering my carport, while applying the brakes, the car suddenly lurched forward several feet, nearly colliding with a concrete wall.my concern is: when will this occur in street traffic and cause a fatality?

This is a new vehicle there has been many times the brakes delay before stopping. this time the car accident. i had enough time to brake 4 the car to dtop but the brake screech and would not stop untill collision. in november the vehicle broke down on the highway, toyota said the vehicle spark needed changing.

I was driving out of a parking lot at 10-15mph. a car was waiting to turn at a stop sign 200 feet ahead. the road had mild snow and ice and was on a 20 degree slope, so i stepped gently on the brake. there was no response from the car. i stepped off the brake and stepped down a little harder. there was mild response. i continued pushing on the brake, and was able to push all the way down to the floor. the car did not stop. 50 feet before collision, i attempted turning the wheel to get out of the way, but the car only shifted 3 feet before i collided with the front car. 50 minutes after the incident, i was driving the same car home at 25mph. the city street was flat and straight, and there was mild snow and ice. a car was turning right at an intersection 250 ft ahead. i was worried this time, and pressed on the brake earlier at moderate pressure (pedal half down). in the past, that type of pressure could decrease the car from 35 to 10mph in 100ft. this time, the car only decreased from 25 to 15mph in 245ft. i was lucky the driver ahead turned, because it would have been a second collision in one day. *tr

Breaks dont stop the car and also make a grinding noise when trying to break while going over any kind of bumps.

Brake pedal feels spongy or soft all the time. have had vehicle to dealer 3 times for stuck fuel door (won't open). every time nothing found wrong. tech lubed and tried adjusting fuel door to no avail. stuck fuel door doesn't happen all the time though. this is a safety issue especially for women who are trying to fuel up when on empty. fuel door sticks while stationary. brakes feel spongy when applying brakes while in motion or sitting still. dealer looked at brakes and said they are fine. have read several complaints on these corolla's having brake failure! what's next??? a crash in the making!!! will not buy toyo again.

This is a report of brake failure that caused a vehicle collision with injuries. on october 29, 2016, i rented a 2016 toyota corolla from a betterway rent-acar, inc. d/ba budget rent a car of atlanta, at 6509 roswell rd, atlanta, ga 30328. the toyota had 21,619 miles at the time of the rental. at approximately 12:30pm i was driving southeast on jimmy carter blvd in norcross georgia. the weather was clear and sunny and the road was dry. upon departing a traffic light, i accelerated to approximately 20 mph in moderate traffic towards vehicles waiting at the intersection of jimmy carter blvd and rockbridge school road one block away. i began applying the brakes long before reaching the vehicles waiting at the next intersection, however the car's brake action was minimal. as i completely depressed the brake pedal, i heard a clicking sound similar to the engagement of an anti-lock braking system (abs), however there was no significant deceleration. when i fully depressed the brake pedal, i did not hear an increase in engine rpm, the automatic transmission did not downshift, and the vehicle did not accelerate. as a result of the toyota's brake failure, i impacted a stationary vehicle at the intersection of jimmy carter blvd and rockbridge school road. the toyota's airbags did not deploy. there were no skidmarks at the scene of the accident. i suffered injuries as well as multiple occupants in the other vehicle. *tr

On june 24th 2016 i purchased a 2016 toyota corolla s. i had 3 minor brake fialures with grinding sounds. i called the dealership on those 3 occasions.the 4th brake failure was a lot worse and i ended up applying the e brake and slide into county line dividing pasco & hernando county florida. enough was enough i called the dealership and said " i need to bring my car in asap because now i have had four brake failures and this one could have killed me if anyone had been coming. this was the 21st of july, i had brought the car in for inspection of my brakes. all they did was take it for a test drive, brought it back and said everything was normal. on september tenth 2016 i got into the right hand turn lane, when i applied the brakes nothing had happened. i continued to apply more and more pressure and still no brakes. i was able to veer enough to the right so i didn't impact the driver side door however the lady behind that car was not as lucky and i impacted her front left pretty much head on. i have called over and over i have sent pictures of my car and the road where there was not even 1 skid mark. i have 9 bulging disc 4 herniated discs. i am literally broke from car rentals dr's appointments and medication that has been very expensive. every time i call i am instructed i will receive a call from their claims/legal department within 30 business days from when they retrieved the data from the car that almost killed me and a poor woman who was taken away in an ambulance. i looked through the data and i am no engineer and i can even see where the brakes failed. to everyone who reads this if you see s newer toyota becareful.

Pulled into parking lot and prepared to park. stepped on brakes, car didn't stop hit building. i put in reverse and then drive, swerving away from building, but car kept going all while foot was on brake. pulled keys from the ignition to stop the car.

The car was involved in the accident with all the airbags deployed, date of crash apr.16,2016 at 10.25 pm.hsmv report 385303651,i feel the airbags did not protect me properly, and i would like to be added to auction class law suite.

Brakes make a grinding noise as soon as bought car, took for 1st oil change and told them, also drives like floating or weaving down highway also told about at dealership. now the heater and air is not right all the time.
