While on the street as i was backing my car into a parking space adjacent to the street curb the car suddenly accelerated in reverse at high speed, crashing over the curb and sidewalk, rear end first. my stepping on the brakes in an attempt to stop the car was unsuccessful; the car did not come to a stop until it crashed into an iron fence which bordered the yard causing damage to the fence and the car. a similar incident occurred quite a few years ago when the same car suddenly accelerated in reverse out of control and i was unable to bring it to a halt until it hit a parked car. i do not know what caused either of these incidents to occur.
The car comes to a complete stop while driving. i was driving on a business street route , day was clear. traveling in motion at 45-50 mph. the red brake light comes on and immediately stops the car. i have taken to the dealership and they have seen the stopping on the computer and said nothing was wrong. this happened again today almost causing an accicdent again
When car was completely stopped at a stop sign, car made a loud noise and started shaking. then car accelerated on its own. brakes locked. car wouldn't stop in neutral or in park gear. it caused an accident by rear ending the car in front of me. car accelerated very quickly and steering wheel locked as well. passenger in car heard the noise too. the car accelerated abruptly on its own.
Rotors worn out and needed to be resurfaced at 20,000 miles. grinding noise is heard while braking.at 23,000shocks/struts makes noise on rough road while driving
Abs actuator failed for no apparent reason. many warning lights came on suddenly while normal driving. the lights included slippage, abs, check vsc, and emergency break. the break action response was diminished. this is a known problem to toyota, and they extended the warranty, but ours is beyond the new extension window. cost to repair is $1,600

As i was driving, all of the lights (oil, brake, abs, check engine) all of it came on at the same time and made a noise and the car shut down , while i was driving. i am a college student with a commute, and thank god i was near a neighborhood to pull over immediately. i tried waiting 10 minute to restart, and it would not even start because the whole thing was dead and the lights were on. this nearly killed me.
I was driving at about 25mph on montgomery drive in philadelphia (city street) in the morning of 12/9/2019. it was raining lightly. the car in front of me was about 4 to 5 car-lengths ahead. it braked as another car tried to cut in, and i also immediately braked. my brake felt grinding and my car continued to slide into the back of the car in front of me.
Driving on street approaching an intersection where i was turning left and had a green light when the abs/esc lights on the dash turned on and brakes stopped working. this caused me to roll through the intersection and almost cause an accident. had to stop by rolling into curb. found the brakes do work somewhat now but are dangerously weak.
While on the way back from a short trip to california from arizona, our "service engine" warning light became displayed on our dash along with "check vsc system." the braking became somewhat erratic and the vehicle seemed to "wander" more within the lane on the highway casing us to reduce our speed. when arriving home we made an appointment to have our vehicle serviced and it was found to have a faulty anti lock brake actuator that had to be replaced at a cost of $2900.00. i am reporting this because of the article i found during my investigation of this issue stating "feds investigate braking problems in toyota camry hybrid" (https://www.consumeraffairs.com/news/feds-investigate-braking-problems-in-toyota-camry-hybrid-012814.html), along with a multitude of other complaints found on the web pertaining to this same issue.
