Often during acceleration, my car seems to sputter or misfire. when taking off there seems to be, as the only way i can describe it, an air bubble in the fuel line. kinda like fuel isn't constantly being fed to the engine. there are gaps. while driving at a constant speed, this does not happen. also, sometimes when accelerating from a stopped position, my car accelerates slowly and then all of a sudden, takes off as if its playing catch up. although there isn't an active recall on my car, i think there is a problem with the fuel pump.

Tl* the consumer owns a 2018 toyota camry. the consumer has stated that while driving, the vehicle shook. also, when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to move. additionally, an abnormal rattling noise was detected and the blind spot sensor failed to work. the vehicle was taken to jim ellis hyundai atlanta (5785 peachtree blvd, atlanta, ga 30341, (770) 454-6789), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to a local toyota dealer. the failure mileage was 28,500 . *bf *as

Today aug 31 2019, i test drove the above vehicle. 2 things i noticed during driving. 1). at start up there was a very audible ticking sound at the front end of the engine. it was much more audible when the hood was raised, and it stopped after approximately 30 seconds with only a familiar ticking sound of the 4 cylnder engine once it stopped 2). most important - during acceleration from a stop, the vehicle seemed to bogg down, and feel like the fuel was not feeding properly, or the transmission was slipping. once the vehicle reached 15 mph or so, it seemed to drive normal. i did not have a chance to drive on the freeway, only city streets. the acceleration should be of major concern.

The radar sensor continuously malfunctions and turns itself off. initially thought by the dealer to be due to rain, even during sunny conditions it malfunctions. the car has to be turned off and turned back on to get radar speed control to work again. i have taken you dealer and they said this is normal and has no fix. this shouldn't be occurring unless their is a direct blockage of radar signal on the sensor.

After slowing down or completely stopping, my car stalls as i reaccelerate. when i slow down (i.e to turn, etc) and then reaccelerate the car stalls, slow to gain speed, and at times even jerks slightly- this mainly occurs when i slow down and then reaccelerate on an incline (i.e getting on a bridge). if i am stopped completely at a light, etc, the car delays upon acceleration, and will kick-in after a couple seconds, also, if i attempt to increase my speed suddenly (i.e to pass another vehicle quickly to prevent being rear-ended!) the time to accelerate is delayed. the gas pedal does not stick, but seems to be a delay in changing gears or something. i drive ~120 miles a day, mostly multi-lane roadways, and in heavily trafficked areas with many tourists and young drivers. i encounter many irresponsible speeders everyday, and sometimes i need to get out of their way asap to avoid being run over! this is my 4th toyota in 20 years, and a regrettable purchase. this issue started about 1 month after purchasing, and i have experienced it everyday since.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 toyota camry. after attempting to pull into a parking space, the vehicle suddenly accelerated into the street and up a hill where it came to a stop. the vehicle was restarted and driven home. the vehicle was taken to steven toyota (2970 s main st, harrisonburg, va 22801, (540) 434-1400) where it was kept for over a week, but no failure were identified. a week later, the contact parked in front of a house where it accelerated again on its own and crashed into the house at 60 mph. the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer and they referred the contact to call the manufacturer. the contact wanted the manufacturer to buy back the vehicle. the contact was assigned to two case managers to find a solution for the failures. the failure mileage was 13,000. *bf *ln*jb *tr

The car applied the brakes very hard while traveling down a major thoroughfare with no objects or other vehicles nearby. i was running around 50mph and the collision avoidance activated and the car slowed to nearly 20mph.

This vehicle gave me problems from the beginning. to begin, it began breaking me in the middle of the road going about 45-50 mph. this continued to happen and my toyota dealer told me that i was a liar. i continued to drive the car, unknowing when it would stop me in the middle of traffic again. it then had electrical problems because the dashboard and radio would go black while i was driving; my air conditioner would stop as well. also, i was driving on an interstate alone with my cruise control on and it kept breaking me and telling me that there was another car in front of me. this continued for about 30 minutes of constant driving (picture below). the last thing that happened to me in this car was that the lane assist would pull me out of my lane and into another when trying to correct between lines. this happened a few times and toyota would do nothing about it. my mother was driving my car one day about 75 mph on an interstate and it pulled her off the road to the left. this car gave me nothing but trouble since purchasing it brand new. my car started this trouble within 5 months of me owning the vehicle and toyota provided no assistance. i was very upset and disappointed that i chose this car above others. i hope toyota will do their job and fix these problems so another camry driver may not experience what i, unfortunately, had to.

I have had constant problems with my 2018 camry since purchasing may 2018. my car is always jerking as i accelerate and when i'm driving in town, feels like i'm getting rear-ended and hesitating on highway when i have to accelerate into traiffic which is very dangerous when the car won't get up and go. i have had it to the dealer several times. they reset the computer because it can save settings from previous drivers. that didn't help. they told me that it's a different transmission and it takes few seconds for the computer to communicate back to transmission. this is a very unsafe feature. the car is super loud and rough feeling with the tires. i feel like i'm driving an old vehicle from the 80's. the entune app has constant issues of not loading or recognizing my phone. tire pressure light comes on all the time and pressure tests fine at dealer. maintenance light comes on every 5000 miles for tire check and oil only needs changed 10000. maintenance light should be separate from oil change so you know which one needs done.

Car is often jumpy after accelerating from a complete stop or accelerating after slowing down. i will push the gas pedal down, and there will be a slight delay before the car selects the proper gear, often resulting in the car lurching forward. this only happens in town, not on the highway, and seems to happen more often after turning. and it doesn't happen all the time, but enough for me to take notice after having the car for a month.

Takata recall: when accelerating and deaccelerating the vehicle i noticed the transmission shifts really rough and makes the car jerky like it's going to stall out. do not feel safe at all with my brand new car driving this way. i've had the car for 7 months and want to get rid of it as soon as possible for this rough ride experience!

The crash detector system stop working for the first 15 minutes of driving it happen multiple times i was driving 40 mile per hour

Tl* the contact owned a 2018 toyota camry. while the contact was attempting to park in the carport with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle spontaneously accelerated. as a result, the contact struck another vehicle that was parked in front of the carport. the vehicle bounced off the vehicle, struck the corner of the house, and kept accelerating into a field. the vehicle came to a complete stop because the field was muddy. a police report was not filed and there were no injuries. the vehicle was towed to all star toyota of baton rouge (9150 airline hwy, baton rouge, la 70815) where it was deemed destroyed. the vehicle was not diagnosed. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

While driving, with or without cruise control on the freeway, the transmission is extremely jerky. any sort of incline seems to highlight the issue even further! i have taken it to the dealer, only for them to tell me nothing is wrong. but what would i know, even though i drive it 110 miles a day. the problem has also occurred from takeoff from a stop sign or stop light. the rpm's want to jump and the pedal is very touchy. i really hate the transmission jerking this hard when i'm driving 75-80 on the interstate. i also didnt want to pay this much for the camry, which i hold in high regard, only for this to continue happening on a daily basis. i had it looked at with around 6k miles and now i have 13k on the car, with zero improvement. toyota, please acknowledge and fix this issue for all owners experiencing this problem!

Tl* the contact owned a 2018 toyota camry. while driving various low speeds in a 30-car garage facility, the vehicle independently accelerated without warning while pulling into a parking spot. the vehicle crashed into a wall and bounced back approximately 30 feet, striking a nearby parking column. the contact stated that the automatic abs became inoperative during the failure. the air bags did not deploy. a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed to a salvage lot where it was deemed destroyed by the insurance company. the contact suffered severe bruising and bleeding from the driver's seat belt across the left side of the chest. medical attention was required. the manufacturer was made aware of the crash and sent an engineer on november 14, 2018 to remove the computer system from the vehicle for further analysis. in addition, the contact was provided with case number: 810130693. the failure mileage was 5,600.

While traveling at highway speeds with the cruise control setup, the vehicle will slow down suddenly without warning. there are no vehicles in front of the vehicle when this happens.

I purchased this car 08/2018 we are now in 10/2018 i have 3k miles on it and it rides rough, sounds like an old car, loud rattly, it just keeps getting worst taking the car today to toyota bennett in allentown pa today because when making complete stops at a light it jumps forward, the transmission jerks, transmission seems confused it takes a long time to pick up for example when entering a highway and trying to catch up to speed takes long, at a stop light almost got rear ended a few times cause the car just wont move quick enough.

I tried to cross a busy highway and the car hesitated for 2 or 3 seconds before beginning a very sluggish acceleration that put me in danger of being hit by oncoming high speed traffic. it has done this twice, and the second time i pushed the accelerator to the floor for several seconds with no response. in both instances the car was going about 3 mph when i attempted to accelerate. the internet is loaded with hundreds of complaints about this problem.

When driving with the pre collusion system cruise control activated the car slams on it's brakes dropping up to 19 mph instantly and can come to a complete stop per toyota. it almost got me run over by a semi. i filed via the toyota lemon law website to no avail. in 2018 the pre-collusion sensor was tied into the pedestrian sensor. hence at times when sensing periphery it slams on the brakes. toyota has 71 disclaimers to protect themselves, but almost every toyota since 1018 has this dangerous technology. several dealerships are aware of this and my salesman told me to use the alternate cruise control since it happened to him also. i was advised of the same by two of their other employees. this system will result in horrific accidents. it typically activated when coming upon the quarter panel of another can and at times when it's oncoming traffic. some of the disclaimers state: "snow coming off the car in front, signs, other cars, metal in the road" and so on. toyota exudes indifference and insults me upon investigating the car is operating as designed. i emailed 114 newspapers nationwide, but don't know if anyone published. i've spoken with several dealerships that have had customer complaints. it happens both on streets and highways. it happened the first time around oct 1, 2018. to make things more frustrating twice stated the car is operating as designed. the problem has happened numerous times for no reason. i doubt that anyone cares, but i warn you: do not follow newer model toyota vehicles closely as except for the rav4 they all have the same technology per toyota. twice toyota informed me my car was operating as designed. that my friends is an ignorant statement. no car is designed to slam on the brakes with no obstructions ahead. mine has done it at least 50 times, but there software doesn't reveal that so it also is deficient.

The 2018 toyota camry se has a major issue with delayed acceleration that impacts the safety of the vehicle. the car's 8-speed transmission has trouble selecting the proper gear when the driver needs to accelerate after deceleration. for example, imagine driving steady at 40mph before decelerating to an intersection for a turn, making the turn, then pressing the gas again to accelerate. when pressing the gas again to accelerate in this scenario, the car struggles to select the proper gear after the downshift from 40 mph causing the vehicle to pause (no acceleration) for 3 seconds before very roughly cycling through two or three gears before the proper gear is selected. both my wife and i experience this while driving the car and often feel vulnerable and stuck as traffic must brake unexpectedly because the camry will not simply select a gear and move when the gas is pressed. also, when the camry finally does move, there is no predicting how much acceleration the driver will experience. this causes safety concern for both getting rear-ended while the camry won't accelerate, and also safety concern for rear-ending someone else when the camry unpredictably accelerates. the toyota dealer has done nothing to fix this and states it is working as designed because no error codes are thrown. the toyota dealer did acknowledge that 8-speed transmissions are new to toyota and they have had major issues with the 8-speed transmission in the toyota sienna.

Tl* the contact rented a 2018 toyota camry. while the vehicle was stopped, it accelerated independently and crashed. the front side air bag deployed; however, the frontal air bag failed to deploy. the contact sustained multiple injuries that required medical attention. a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed to a towing lot. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure and the vehicle was not diagnosed. the failure mileage was unknown.

For whatever reason, toyota made the engine control software very slow to react to throttle inputs. if you are driving and stomp on the gas, there can be as much as a 1.5 second delay before the engine tries to do something. this can be pretty dangerous such as when you are trying to merge into traffic or move so someone doesn't hit you. never drove a car that had such a delay unless it had a turbo, but the camry responds even slower (camry does not have a turbo). i;ve had the car for 7 months...it has always been like this and it seems to be a very comon complaint.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 toyota camry. while driving various speeds, the vehicle would not immediately accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the contact stated that the failure usually occurred while making a turn. the vehicle also experienced unintended acceleration. the failures were not diagnosed or repaired. an unknown dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failures, but no assistance was offered. the failure mileage was 2,000. the vin was invalid.

Engine is very loud, acceleration fine one minute and the next minute i try to accelerate it doesn't even want to go anywhere i consider this a very serious issue being that i try to accelerate out into traffic. and it wants to stall and loses acceleration for 1 or 2 seconds. which is very dangerous being that i'm stuck there and oncoming traffic for that. of time and then i have to step on it way way more than what i should have to get out of harm's way. these incidents take place on the city streets not the highway. only in the beginning of accelerating.

Sometimes when accelerating from a stop, the engine seems to have a slight hesitation. this is very concerning because you could inadvertently pull out in front of another driver and cause an accident because the car wouldn't accelerate properly. this needs to be investigated before it harms someone.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 toyota camry. while operating the vehicle, the transmission shifter would erratically downshift and up shift, and the engine rpms would rev very high. while pulling into a parking space, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed into a second vehicle. there were no injuries and a police report was not filed. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (toyota of grand rapids, 2555 28th st. se, grand rapids mi) and the transmission was reprogrammed, but the failures continued. in addition, while operating the vehicle with the air conditioner activated, the windows inside the vehicle would fog up and create a visibility hazard. the cause of the failures was not diagnosed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 1,000.

After taking delivery of the vehicle i noticed that the vehicle accelerates very poor and when the vehicle was set on cruise control it would drop speed for no reason.

It seems that the transmission is not working right...the car can't decide when to accelerate and keeps jumping through...this happens from a stop or while you're driving..i tried to accelerate and car was "deciding" to move forward or not...it can happen in motion, stationary, turning....i don't feel safe at all driving my 7 months 2018 toyota camry....dealer solution=none...they just say the computer is not showing anything while i have to be worried about the car...

This happened to the vehicle repeatedly and under 1000 miles on the odometer. upon acceleration the car hesitates and after a few seconds if will finally go with a jerking to the passengers. it also has a problem accelerating on the highway, it seems to lack the power to pass anyone when in traffic. at approximately 75 miles per hour the car began to shake also. when moving into different gears the car would also feel as if it were jerking into gears. seems to be worse on cold starts but was definitely still a problem after driving and having time to warm up.

When the vehicle is in motion, and the radar speed control is set on, and a leading vehicle is engaged by the radar speed control, if the leading vehicle turns off the road to the right the radar speed control suddenly disengages and the vehicle brakes. this is a serious safety concern with the possibility of being rear-ended when there are following vehicles. happens under all road conditions and in all weather.

4-cylinder xse has significant acceleration delay after depressing the pedal; this is especially apparent when accelerating from a rolling stop at approximately 15-25 mph. occasionally, the gear will also shift abruptly when accelerating from 15-25 mph, causing the car to lurch forward suddenly. this is dangerous; if there is a car in front of you, there is a high chance of causing a rear end accident.

Takata recall . i bought brand new toyota camry se 2018 from the toyota dealer for taxi in new york city. i drive in new york city and sometime go to out of town up to 150 miles. on my first 10000 miles maintenance , i told the dealer that when i drive, car jerking/breaking the speed or say hesitation after drive few miles. i feel suddenly the speed start is jerking/breaking the speed for few seconds and then come back in regular speed. even my leg is at the accelerate continues. on my complaint, the dealer technic drove the car and he reported that at present time he did not find any problem. i think, he lied. i did reported to toyota and they open the case. they going to check on my next maintenance. because of jerking/breaking or say hesitation, i feel might car suddenly stop in highway or any where. i drove over 1500 different cars in last over 33 years in my life and never see this kind of problem in past. i do see toyota camry 2018 have lot of new feature and use new technique but somehow this jerking/breaking or say hesitations during driving in any speed not good. need to investigate and found why this happened.

The car has acceleration/speed problems. it takes too long to accelerate when changing lanes, passing other vehicle, or entering freeway. this issue is going on all and every time i drive it. i purchased the car one month ago. this is my 5th camry and i never had this problem. car is unsafe and im scared to drive. toyota, do something before someone dies!!!!!!!!!!. i almost got rear-ended couple of times

Transmission is feeling very jerky after 5000 miles. holding on to low gears way too long. i'm doing 40 mph and the rpm is over 3500. the transmission seems to keep missing gears. constantly downshifting. mileage has surprisingly gone down. even on the highway when im doing 65+ its struggling to find gears and keeps downshifting.

The 2018 toyota camry is having a problem shifting and allowing the car to increase speed. the car constantly jerks when you try to move and sometimes when you're sitting it still jerks. it's like the transmission is missing a shift or something.

Dynamic radar cruise control & pre-collision system failure during rain. on april 7th, 2018 while driving in light rain on i95-s in south carolina @ 65-70mph my cruise control and pre-collision systems stopped working, 2 lights came on on the left side driving console and an error message reading "clean sensor" dynamic cruise failure. i pulled into the next rest area and turned off car, "googled" where the sensor is, behind the toyota emblem on from of car. inspected it, it was clean on the outside other than being wet from rain. i "popped" the hood, i could not see any dirtiness either. i then started driving again and as soon as i was up to highway speed and it was still lightly raining the same thing happened. i had to drive over 250 miles with no cruise control nor pre-collision system. when it stopped raining several hours later and the next day there was no rain as well in hilton head island, sc the problem never reoccurred.

I purchased my toyota 2018 camry se with 4 miles on it. almost immediately i noticed that the car has major problems accelerating. while resuming driving ,from a stop sign or red light and merging on to a highway, when i press the gas pedal the car has a major delay in acceleration. it makes a loud revving noise like a sports car when i put my foot on the gas, and the car does not take off when pressing the gas pedal . it is a major delay .its very slow, and you barely move while the car is making a tremendous and embarrassing amount of loud noise. in order to try and avoid being hit by oncoming traffic, i press the gas pedal to the floor, and at this time i don't know what will happen. its totally random . i could take off out of sync with pressing the gas too quickly , or barely move at all. this is hazardous. i have complained to the service department twice at the toyota dealership, that i purchased my car with no resolution. the dealership said both times, that they test drove my car and said nothing was wrong with the car. please do a recall on this car for our own safety.

The car keeps jumping forward, it can't decide when it wants to shift up. when starting from a stop, or driving and trying to accelerate, the car takes over 5 seconds to really 'take' and realize you are pushing on the gas. all it does is rev, a lot.

The car has acceleration/speed problems. the car has only 200 miles, took it in te highway and takes too long to reach highway speed. it rarely reaches and stays at lower speed. like others it seems this camry will have a lot rear-end accidents due to the lack of speed performance. i feel scare to drive this car, too difficult to change lanes, too difficult to keep up with traffic. if cars are approaching at highway speed and you are changing lines you more than likely will end up rear- end. it took me two and a half hours to complete a 1 hour trip due to lack of speed, car not responding and fear of getting rear-end by other cars who were hurning because car wouldn't speed up. car is too unsafe. i don't know what happened to toyota. worst car ever.

Hesitation/lagging issues at both high and low speeds- hesitates both while driving and while taking off from a stopped position - shifts are horrible the car jerks a lot- in cruise control going 70-75 mph jerks hard, with no cars in front of it. acceleration is horrible so much so, that we almost get rear ended when trying to merge with traffic. this started a week after i purchased this in july- jan 13 we were almost in an accident to car not accelerating and jerking

I have a 2018 toyota camry and on my first week after buying it, i noticed that there's a major acceleration delay that i couldn't bear anymore. it's making a weird sound and is definitely something noticeable. toyota seriously needs to take care of this as this may cause accidents especially on merging on the freeway. i tried to take it to 2 different toyota service centers and both just told me that my car was driving fine. i looked up some complaints for this car online and it seems like a lot of people are actually complaining about this same as with 2019 models. i hope toyota will fix this because it's making us consumers very frustrated.

When the car in the low speed around 20 miles/hour and the engine around 2000rpm, the transmission is wired trying to find specified gear, make the car speed increased and decreased, it like jerk the car. another problem is when you trying to speed up catch up cars speed from lower speed on highway, press the gas pedal, the car just like thinking the life philosophy the rpm reach 4000 the car suddenly speed up.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 toyota camry. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration, even when the accelerator pedal was not depressed. there was also a lack of acceleration when attempting to merge, abnormal shifting, and the vehicle stalled. in addition, the odor of anti-freeze filled up the cabin. the failures occurred without warning. the vehicle was taken to toyota grand rapids (located at 2555 28th st se, grand rapids, mi) where the failures were confirmed, but could not be remedied. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was approximately 250.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 toyota camry. while driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle surged forward and accelerated independently without depressing the accelerator pedal. the vehicle then decelerated and the contact depressed the brake pedal to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. in addition, the vehicle stalled as the motor revved. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to toyota of grand rapids (2555 28th st se, grand rapids, mi 49512, (877) 703-5930) where it was diagnosed that a new software program update was needed. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. the approximate failure mileage was 275.

I've had this vehicle for about 4 months now. the first month i noticed there is something wrong with the way this new vehicle accelerates. when stopped and starting movement again the vehicle suddenly jerks and does not speed up right away. the jerking part is my main safety concern. i have previously owned other toyota models and no other model has done this. i'm afraid someone will rear end my due to the sudden jerking and then delayed response of the vehicle to accelerate. it is especially distressing at intersection lights, off ramps, and stop signs. anywhere required to stop or slow movement and then need to accelerate even at a moderate pace. something just is not right.

Vehicle gas throttle response would hesitate would be a lag of few seconds for vehicle to pick up speed slow throttle response, also i totaled my vehicle due brakes malfunction also vehicle brake assyst did not assyst me in any way or prevented me from accident i was travling 35 to 55mph in traffic stop and go slow lane

When i'm taking off it takes a fews seconds before it catches speed. even if i'm pushing down pretty much on the way down on the gas pedal it takes a while before it catches speed. cars behind me start passing me. also, my biggest concern is when i'm merging into the freeway and i'm trying to catch speed it wont speed up until a few seconds so i get never that i'm too far in and a car behind me might hit me because it doesn't catch speed right away and once it catches speed it goes extremely fast because i'm pushing so far down on the pedal because it doesn't catch it right away. i've gotten scared of few times. i really think something defected with this car. as much as i love the body of the car, the speed control is a real problem. i really hope someone looks into this. it's when i'm stopped and on the freeway.
