In deep white sands desert car keys locked inside the trunk. after opting for the passenger side door using the hanger anchor method whole car computerized system went down and there is no way to open then trunk from inside the car. 2018 camry has no lever any pull-down seats to open the trunk. park ranger took me to the nearest town toyota dealership(desert sun toyota,3333 n white sands blvd, alamogordo, nm 88310), the dealership was not having the ability to cut the new laser key they were not even aware 2018 you can't open the trunk by a lever or pulling down seats. it was cold and dark and family with kids sitting in the dunes alone while i was working with toyota dealership for a new keys. after doing all brainstorming the last solution came to me was make a hole behind number plate to open the trunk latch. a good man agreed to come to the park and open the trunk by drilling the hole. i was able to make my family safe. after reaching dallas (my home) i sent an email to toyota north america ceo james about the whole incident and his office called me after the email but not accepting this as a defect and denied to help me to fix my holey car. the 6 hrs i spent with family to just open the trunk is a serious defect in the 2018 camry. this is very common to lose keys while taking stuff out of the trunk. if the happens on nowhere lands and no cell phone signals then it is dangerous.
The passenger side dashboard where the airbag deploys, you can visibly see the lines and it is slightly raised in the middle. i've never own a vehicle, especially a new car that you could visibly see the exact lines where the airbag deploys. i wouldn't be concerned, but i know if this exact problem on another camry near me.
When one starts the car by pushing the start bottom, the car will start to shake and soon a very load cracking and rattling noise will began coming from the engine. engine light will come on while driving in the city and then turns off causing the driver to be aware of some issue. once the concerning noise goes away the car continues to shake but eventually stops after a while. this could make the car to stall and causing a potential crash. the vehicle left blind side detector does not respond 100%, it only works about 60% of the time. this causes the driver to think he/she are clear to turn to the left lane in the city and highway and it can cause the driver to hit another car and potentially crashing. the screen panel glitches from time to time while driving in the highway causing the driver to not be able to see and locate radio stations or manipulate the panel.
Defective transmission: 1: car hesitates to speed up from a full stop or while in motion. 2: rpm's go over 3000 before car reacts (2-3 seconds delay) , dangerous specially when taking curves or merging into traffic (highways, fast traffic roads). 3: i feel a "hiccup" like movement while in motion (sometimes). 4: car hesitates to shift or shifts whit excessive power. 5: downshifts and loss of acceleration (it happens erratically) 6: i heard a soft metal-to-metal "knock" sound when i lift my foot from gas pedal while in motion. until now this are the symptoms i'm experiencing with my 2018 camry 4-cyl, certainly something i wasn't expecting from a toyota product. the unpredictable behavior of this car is dangerous, i never know when is going to response as it should do or when i'll have to floor it so it can rev up and finally move.
This is a sw bug in the map navigation setup that is dangerous. this camry has a freeway map mode setup where the screen can be set for 50% map + 50% freeway exits. the mode can also be setup for 100% map if that is preferred. this setting can only be set in the context of driving on the freeway. the default setting is the 50-50 map mode. the real problem is that the setting alway reverts back to the default setting through turning the car off and on. the setting does not get stored in non-volatile memory. the driver must reset the map-mode every time, and they must do it while driving at freeway speeds. this is dangerious!
8 speed transmission the transmission performs poorly, regularly stalling between shifts, causing a lag in acceleration. it can't seem to pick a gear, leaving the vehicle stalled briefly, while the accelerator is depressed. once, at a large intersection, in a high traffic area, from a stop, i attempted a right turn. the car stalled, while i depressed the accelerator, causing a mild panic, as i was confronted with an 18 wheeler attempting to turn into my lane. the car eventually accelerated, getting me out of the way, in a harried and frustrated huff at the poor performance of this new car. the transmission does not mis-perform upon every single shift of the gears, but there will be mis-performance occurring on every single trip taken in the car.
Blindspot not working on passenger side. i took my car to toyota in for service today. i informed them about this issue. they informed me that they cannot duplicate this issue. i sent them pictures of the blind spot coming on at random time or not coming on at all. the photo attached was me driving down a two lane road and it coming on, which shouldn't be happening at all. i even have a 15 second video of me passing an 18 wheeler. as i passed this vehicle on my right the warning light never came on. the dealer again told me if it doesn't happen to them then they can't replace this under warranty. this car was bought brand new and now has 19,650 miles.
On december 6, 2018, i purchased a 2018 camry with 65 miles. i am writing to you regarding my accelerator pedal problem. this letter also documents the second incident with the accelerator pedal. the first incident occurred in a parking lot and left me stranded for 4 hours and then without a car for a day. the second incident occurred while i was making a right turn in traffic and the car issued a master warning light, a warning buzzer, and a message on the multi-information display that quickly disappeared. something is wrong with the accelerator control system or pedal itself. this is a safety issue. the following information is provided to help diagnose and fix the problem. on the fourth incident, i have a video that clearly shows there is an accelerator problem. in three of the four incidents, i was backing up in "r" and noticed there was no accelerator pedal, placed car in "d" and still no accelerator pedal than it would just go. if the car is unable to accelerate either in a turn or in any situation, than an accident or death could occur. currently car is at a toyota dealer. toyota did nothing on the first two visits, as there were "no codes" and would do nothing unless a code was present. i provided them with a video of the fourth incident and it seems they might be a bit more interested.
This is my third toyota car that i buy as a brand new car and i was so excited about grtting a 2018 camry se but am very disspoint it with this situation man so this is whats happening to the car the vehicle has issues with the transmission there are times when the car can't seem to decide what gear to pick and when to engage it resulting in a second or two of dead acceleration once the vehicle decides what to do, it sends an excessive amount of power to the wheels with unintended acceleration rates. this has been an issue since i bought the car so please let me know what we can do because i dont like how this brand new transmission works. 2.the second pronlem is that that car start shaking when am going over 70 miles per hour on the highway and i know exactly that is not with balance and not alighnmrnt because idont feel the steering wheel shaking i fell the shaking is comming from the engine i can guaranteed u that is coming from there because when i stop accelareting it goes away but once i accelerate again starts that vibration again so toyota needs to be more specific and making sure that they're customer are 100%% happy with their car and stop testing this brand news platform with the people money because i can telk u that at least 40 percent of the people they are regreting of buying this car just because this kinda of problem so i wish theres a remedy tgat toyota it might xonsidering to fix this inds of problem which i hate about it st all
3 times the collision prevention stop working while i was driving at the high way. you have to turn the car off and then turn it on to for the collision prevention system to work again. and this is so dangerous. the transmission sometimes glitch and not working properly and shifits like crazy. i feel it sometimes that car sounds not right because it should shift smoothly. air condition when it on cold the fan can give good air streem which is good but when it on heat the fan is so slow and it doesn't give good air streaming. i was trying to find a way to report this to generate recall but i didn't know how until i found your website.
I purchased this car 08/2018 we are now in 10/2018 i have 3k miles on it and it rides rough, sounds like an old car, loud rattly, it just keeps getting worst taking the car today to toyota bennett in allentown pa today because when making complete stops at a light it jumps forward, the transmission jerks, transmission seems confused it takes a long time to pick up for example when entering a highway and trying to catch up to speed takes long, at a stop light almost got rear ended a few times cause the car just wont move quick enough.
Pre-collision system malfunction. vehicle was in motion when indicator lights started warning of problems with pre-collision warning system.
This is the second windshield i have had since buying my car in late march 2018. each time they repair shop says the windshield is so thin. as i am sitting waiting on my repair. two other people with 2018 toyota camry's also comes in for their 2nd windshield. it seems to be a severe glitch in the make of these windshields and this is a potentially hazardous situation. please evaluate this immediately.
Car front grill design is so poor that damage caused by normal road debris already punctured my ac condense leaking freon / ac coolant to release in to environment /harming environment as well as increasing repair cost. 2 times in last 6 months i have relapsed my front ac condenser due to stick of wood or pebble going through front grill easily and puncturing.
1. every time i back out of my driveway my brakes squeak very loudly. 2. the transmission never knows what gear to be in while driving and will clunk in and out of gear while in motion. 3. has a terrible burning smell of plastic and oil like when the car engine is hot. 4. drive side cabin has a constant antifreeze smell while running the a/c 5. the engine has a horrible load knocking noise while running. it sounds like a very old car. 6. i don't know what's wrong with the acceleration of the car or if it was designed this way but the 3-5 sec delay is dangerous i have complained about each one of these items to the toyota dealer in gastonia nc at the 5 mile, 10mile and 15mile service and each time the dealer just tells me its fine and that's normal.
Shortly after purchase, driver side door window/lock/mirror control panel popped-out easily, when window control up was activated. fortunately, i was stationary at the time, so i wasn't driving and startled/distracted by it (i.e., potential safety issue). appears to be a retainer clip issue. i reported it to local toyota dealership, who couldn't fix it, so i shimmed the clip, and haven't had an issue, since, though it may not be easy to extract, should the need arise! no such issue with passenger side control panel. uploaded images extracted from mov video, should you wish to review it, available upon request via e-mail (i'd have to upload it to my website, because it's a huge file).
Collision detection engages when no one close to front of vehicle at high speed. our 2018 camry engaged the collision detection at about 65 mph on i-85 in atlanta and about wrecked us. no one was even close to the front the vehicle or stopping or stopped and it locked the brakes up solid for like 5-10 seconds. the vehicles behind us almost rear ended us from it engaging without warning. it scared the living piss out my wife and i. we wont even drive it on the interstate any more or closely follow someone. the vehicle needs fixed before someone gets killed in it. i'm just reporting it now because i been given this website by a lawyer.
While driving my 2018 toyota camry on may 15, 2018, my dash displayed a message of "pre-collision system malfunction" as well as a warning light, a light depicting two vehicles colliding and the message "visit your dealer". i understand toyota had a recall on 2015 model toyotas for this exact issue however, has anyone else experienced this with their 2018 toyotas or has a recall been released for this issue? this vehicle is 6 months old, purchasing it in october last year, and i have already had one recall for the fuel delivery system and now the pre-collision system has apparently malfunctioned. my toyota dealer refuses to issue me a loaner vehicle so i do not have to continuously take off of work to bring the vehicle into have it diagnosed, which they have requested i allow an hour and a half to conduct. i purchased a new vehicle under warranty so i would not have the problems a used car could create however i am currently regretting the decision of purchasing a toyota as it will now have been in the shop twice for issues beyond my doing or control but continues to create an inconvenience to me financially as it requires me to take time off work for diagnostics and repairs.
I was driving my car on a secondary road and warning lights started going off at the same time(abs, precollision warning, engine light, etc.) my husband drove it to the local toyota dealership. the toyota service rep advises me that the engine wires have been chewed by rodents. he also advises me that this is not a toyota problem so my bumper to bumper warranty would not cover it. he advised my auto insurance would have to pay for it. the problem is a toyota problem. they have started using plant-based material to cover the wiring which attracts rodents. there is a class action lawsuit, but not for my model of car. also, this is going to get someone killed, because you can't hardly keep the car on the road after it happens. i don't have any paperwork yet, because my car is still at the dealership.
Ac system smells like mold. started when veg only had 5000 miles
I bought a 2018 toyoya camry se in april and i have been having problems ever since. the etune radio system does not work properly with my phone. i have to reconnect my phone to the car while i'm driving to get my music to play after a phone call. the air conditioning doesn't cool properly, at times i have to set it on "low" in order to get it to cool. other times, i can have it set on 80 and it cools. when i park my car and get out, i can smell radiator fluid. the acceleration doesn't' work properly. some times i press the gas and the car takes off smooth, other times it doesn't. there is a gap in time between me pressing the gas and the car actually taking off.
The fender in the engine bay is not completely sealed. water is welling from the front wheels into the engine bay through the opening of the fender. the top cover of front shock absorbers in the engine bay is not sealed either. evident water is welling through there, too. i'm not driving on any dirty road. just really common highway to and back from work, 20 minutes' drive. yes it rains, but never cause any problem on the road. it's making the engine bay dirty. also, it could damage the engine, or shortcut any wire. it could be normal to get dirty, but this poor design is no good. the fender should be sealed to resist water. that's why it's called fender. we have a post on toyota nation forum. it seems that it's a common problem to all 8th generation camry. anyone, please take a look. it has very detailed description about what's happening. i've visited the service center. they just said 'it's normal to get water in from the bottom'. apparently the problem is not the bottom. we got news, that in china, toyota has already offered a free patchwork to all 8th generation camry, to seal the openings. the 2018 camry model is universal the same, same design, same problem. i hope we could get the same patchwork. they have to fix their poor design.
Excessive wind noise in drivers side door window. i've only had the car for a month. [xxx] is known for this and didn't expect toyota had the same issue. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Dynamic radar cruise control & pre-collision system failure during rain. on april 7th, 2018 while driving in light rain on i95-s in south carolina @ 65-70mph my cruise control and pre-collision systems stopped working, 2 lights came on on the left side driving console and an error message reading "clean sensor" dynamic cruise failure. i pulled into the next rest area and turned off car, "googled" where the sensor is, behind the toyota emblem on from of car. inspected it, it was clean on the outside other than being wet from rain. i "popped" the hood, i could not see any dirtiness either. i then started driving again and as soon as i was up to highway speed and it was still lightly raining the same thing happened. i had to drive over 250 miles with no cruise control nor pre-collision system. when it stopped raining several hours later and the next day there was no rain as well in hilton head island, sc the problem never reoccurred.
Traveling down the highway at 70 mph with no traffic around and sunroof blew out. weather was clear and it was approximately 5:30am. glass flew through the cabin of the car and caused minor cuts on driver's head and arms.
I leased a low end camry 6 months ago. since then i have experienced the following problem about 20 times. when slowing to a stop usually on a slight upgrade the engine rpms increase from the 600 value at idle to about 2200. this occurs in a speed range of 0 to 5 mph. fortunately i have my foot on the brake when it has happened and generally am not close to the car in front of me so i am able to hold the car with the foot brake but generally need to shut down the engine to eliminate the high rpm and when restarting all is back to normal. i have had the car at the dealers 3 times and all is "well" based on the computer diagnostics. i suspect a software problem in the computer but that falls on deaf ears.
I was following the car's built-in navigation system and as i got within about a mile of the destination address, it abruptly stopped working. the display disappeared. i used my smart phone map to get to my destination. although i was not distracted, i believe this could have been a hazard if i had been in an unfamiliar area having my navigation instructions and map suddenly disappear
The car has acceleration/speed problems. the car has only 200 miles, took it in te highway and takes too long to reach highway speed. it rarely reaches and stays at lower speed. like others it seems this camry will have a lot rear-end accidents due to the lack of speed performance. i feel scare to drive this car, too difficult to change lanes, too difficult to keep up with traffic. if cars are approaching at highway speed and you are changing lines you more than likely will end up rear- end. it took me two and a half hours to complete a 1 hour trip due to lack of speed, car not responding and fear of getting rear-end by other cars who were hurning because car wouldn't speed up. car is too unsafe. i don't know what happened to toyota. worst car ever.
Wind noise from the side windows when driving
Hesitation/lagging issues at both high and low speeds- hesitates both while driving and while taking off from a stopped position - shifts are horrible the car jerks a lot- in cruise control going 70-75 mph jerks hard, with no cars in front of it. acceleration is horrible so much so, that we almost get rear ended when trying to merge with traffic. this started a week after i purchased this in july- jan 13 we were almost in an accident to car not accelerating and jerking
Takata recall. i just bought a brand new car 8/20/2018, toyota camry se 2018. and my concern is if my car is one of the engine problem and oversized pistols recall?
I overall love my new camry xse except for two things: 1-the feedback on the hands free phone is so bad no one will talk to me hands free except my family. there is a horrible echo that makes it extremely difficult for the person calling me to hear me. they state all they can hear primarily is the echo of their own voice. when an issue is so bad that the hands free system-which is meant to improve safety while driving-that you never use it, it seems like a safety issue to me. i see multiple complaints from almost everyone regarding this same issue. 2-about 1 out of 20 times i get a call, it comes through with a very strange ringing sound that will not stop until i stop the car & turn it off then on again. i have video of this happening (i don't believe i can attach a video here but i do have it) and i also cannot answer the call at all-it will ring nonstop for over 30 minutes if i don't pull over and stop/restart my car. both of these issues are extremely annoying considering the money i paid for the car, i didn't except these types of issues.
Water and dirt leaking into engine cabin!
Lane sensors not working. these sensors are supposed to keep you in your lane for safety. i didn't realize i was going over center line because sensor not working. not having sensors that work could cause a major accident.
I can find my trim car , and type body my car
