When i get to 20 mph my car will loose power for just a second or two.
Cvt transmission start shuddering then and b/4 at 40 to 50 miles per hour toyota mfg refuses to repair.car only has 58k miles! almost lost control driving.telling me i have to buy at dealer for $7.300 happens at all times wherever ! please help us since we are both retried seniors. alfred
When vehicle stop and then accelerate, at aroud 2000rpm it stalls and rpm drops about to1800rpm then suddenly accelerate.
Driving on a smooth road when car reaches between 35 and 40 miles per hour the transmission starts to shuddle making it seems like you are driving on a bumpy road for a couple of seconds which is scary when u feel the vibration.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. while driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle shuttered without warning. the vehicle was taken to waldorf toyota (301-843-3700, located at 2600 crain hwy, waldorf, md 20601) to be repaired per an unknown recall regarding the torque converter; however, the technician stated that the recall repair had already been performed. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 138,000.
Torque converter not good in this car. vehicle makes vibration between 40-50mph but if i let go off the accelerator it goes away instantly. changed brakes changes cv axles. transmission is the issue car is only 78k miles 2013 camry le. i believe a recall might be needed? thanks
Problem in automactic transmission. it vibrates between 40-50 mph. car is only 78k miles right now. i changed brakes/rotors and both cv axles and nothing changed. something is wrong in the transmission. it happens in city or highway.
Vehicle engine shutters at low speed up to 50 mph. recall on cars.com but toyota will not honor it. it has become worse over the past 3 months.
My 2013 toyota camry will not accelerate when i first try to drive the car in the morning or in the evening when i get off work. it has also stopped accelerating as i was trying to make a left turn onto a busy street. thankfully, the car behind me did not run into me. it seems as though the car has to 'warm up' before it will drive normally. i have had this car for 5 years and it only started doing this in september 2018. i've taken it to the dealer, the first time the abs, check engine and traction control warning lights were on, but they said they could not replicate the issue. each time i have taken it back, i've been told they could not find a problem. i would like to find out what is going on with this car before anything bad happens.
When in am completely stopped and i begin to accelerate the torque arm begins shuttering. it takes up to a minute to get the car to get moving. if in am stopped at a street light i am worried i'm going to get rear ended.
Hesitation or shudder at 25-40mph (transmission)
My car shudders from 20-45 miles an hour have taken in to a car shop and they say it is the torque converter, or transmission in this car. my car is only 5 years old and should not be having these problems. after it gets up to 50 it starts to run smoothly. the vehicle is in motion. i see from complaints that a lot of people have had their torque converters replaced by the dealership.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. the contact stated that the transmission shook while driving low speeds and the vehicle had trouble shifting while driving 45 mph. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but no failures were found with the vehicle. boch toyota south (620 s washington st, north attleborough, ma 02760, (508) 719-8628) was contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 117,000.
Shudder while driving under light throttle between approximately 25-50 mph. when car is stationary it has a low shake
When i speed up 10 to 20 miles there is a slight kick and the car feels shaky. the mileage is only 66 k + miles. in the city or highway when speeding up this happens.
Car hesitate bout 1 second and release at about 20 mph before the passing gear shifts in , never use to do that , started doing this around 5/1/2017 , car has bout 80,000 miles current.
I have had problems for the last year with the 2013 toyota camry. the car while driver starts sputtering electrical will go out. this occurs when the car gets to about 25 mph. i took it to the toyota dealer who informed me there was a recall on the torque converter and that was replaced. i was told there was nothing wrong with the electrical. the car continued to perform in the capacity. i took the car back and was told there was another recall and the car was repaired. the car continued and i took the car to another mechanic. he informed me the transmission was gone. at no time did any lights come on the vehicle to make me aware of the issue. i took the car back to the dealer. the dealer confirmed what the previous mechanic stated. i contacted toyota who offered 1,000 towards repairs. the repairs are over 6k. i still owe toyota 15k for this car and they could not offer an explanation on why a transmission went out after 3 years
This vehicle hesitates for 4 seconds when transmission switches gears. car was taken back to dealer and after 2 software updates and a new torque converter they said the car couldnt be fixed. this car is dangerous and will most definitely cause an accident rear end collision.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. while the vehicle was parked on a hill, the contact attempted to switch the gear into drive, but the shifting gear failed to lock in the drive position. the contact had to reverse the vehicle off the hill in order to place the vehicle in drive. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 27,000.
My car would stall and come to a stop unpredictably. it has happened when the car was in motion at low speeds and during turns. the car would stall and come to a stop. sometimes it can be started after you shut down the engine, sometimes you have to try a couple times in order to start again. toyota dealership was able to test and find stalling history but was not able to find to problem. they said they would test drive and try to duplicate the problem. after 2 weeks, they said they couldn't duplicate it and couldn't work on it any further and told me to take the car back. after taking the car back, 2 days later it stalled again and it was brought into another toyota dealership.
Purchased car in april with 14,000 miles. vehicle hesitates at random times - this is especially dangerous when making a left turn at a busy intersection. one time i was the 3rd car back at busy intersection with no left turn arrow. when it was my turn to go the car would barely move. i was fortunate that all the cars in the other direction waited until i cleared the intersection before going. when the traffic light changes from green to red, you are in danger of being hit by another car because you're still in the middle of the intersection. i called the dealer service depart and was told because the problem is random all they could do was have a tech go on a ride along and see if it happened. i test drove the car 3 times before buying it. i was not aware of this problem or i would not have bought this car. my previous car was a 2003 camry and i never had one minute of trouble with it. this is a very dangerous situation - someone could be killed or very badly injured - and needs to be investigated asap.
The transmission shudders and hesitates on acceleration. this happens intermittently. i usually notice it when accelerating from a complete stop. it happens just before the transmission shifts to the next gear.
I was drove the car for shopping 25 miles away from home at 9:00 am. at 11:50 am, on the way back, the back shook slightly and made small noises that were unfamiliar. i checked to see if the shift gear was set correctly and windows were closed, which they were. there was no unusual blinking of driver panel light indicating any type of warning. when i arrived at the drive way at 12:30pm, turning into the front of the house as usual, the car suddenly accelerated and my car ran into the garage door and side of the house.
While driving the vehicle either on a city street or highway or turning the vehicle comes to a complete stop. nothing works, car wont start , key will not move, gear is stuck. this has happen three times within a year. the dealer has check it out but has no answer to why it happens. my air-condition fogs up the window, as so does the heater making the visibility difficult. there was also a strong odor of gas when you make a turn. all my complaints have been reported but nothing done. my fear is a major accident will be cause because of this.
Transmission delays during acceleration. multiple time i have been in danger due to delayed acceleration when pulling out or coming to stop then accelerating. my local dealership said it was a common problem. this is very dangerous and i think should investigated further. thank you. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. while parked, the vehicle accelerated without warning when the contact removed the key from the ignition. the contact was able to stop the vehicle by depressing the brake pedal. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 9,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. the contact stated that while driving to make a left turn at 5 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently and crashed into a wall. the contact sustained a concussion and bruises on her chest that required medical attention. a police report was filed. the vehicle was destroyed. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 27,700.. updated 09/30/15*bf
After stopping at intersection, then step on gas to turn right, car makes the turn out into the road, but then engine begins to rev as if the transmission has shifted into neutral. after letting off the gas pedal for a second or two the car will recover and act normally. this is very dangerous when pulling onto a busy street.
When accelerating at a stop light or when slowing down to make a turn, it hesitates when stepping on it to go. it will go about 5 - 10 feet and hesitate, just enough to make everyone behind you think you are going and they close behind you enough to almost hit you because they don't realize the care hesitates. it has happened more than 4 times. it is an accident waiting to happen.
When accelerating from a stop the vehicle will sometimes move about 10 feet and then hesitate for about 1 to 2 seconds. it will then accelerate normally. one time the vehicle accelerated to about 20 mph and then the engine rpm returned to idle. the accelerator was pushed to the floor and the rpm remained at idle. the accelerator was released and pushed down again. the vehicle accelerated normally. this happened only one time. the intermittent hesitation is very dangerous when trying to cross a busy intersection when the cross traffic is uncontrolled. the vehicle was taken to the dealership for the problem. the technician could not duplicate the condition. the u760e torque converter shudder recall upgrade was performed. this did not fix the problem. the service advisor said that the technician said that some transmission hesitation was normal. the service advisor also said there had been other complaints about this condition. there are also complaints on the online automobile forums. this condition is dangerous and not normal. *tr

On several occasions over the last month i have noticed the car stalls when you attempt to drive in reverse. most recently it did the same thing while the car was in drive. scheduled for car to go to dealer 8/29/14. *tr
While on incline transmission in drive engine running let foot off brake car rolls backwards until brake is applied. *tr
2013 toyota camry. consumer writes in regards to the keyless start design flaw. *smd the consumer stated when he returned to his vehicle, he discovered his vehicle was not where he left it. the vehicle had rolled back out of the spot and down the road a distance. he realized he turned the vehicle off, but left it in drive, and he was shocked to find out, the vehicle could be turned off, in any gear. *jb
Toyota has another throttle problem. i bought a 2103 camry se on march 30th 2013 from larry miller toyota and it exhibits an intermittent throttle problem. when i start from a stop some times it seems as if the engine dies. it does not as the engine does not need to be restarted. the throttle is simply non-responsive. the car moves ahead a little and virtually dies. this can occur going straight ahead, turning right or worse yet in the process of making a left turn. this is very much a safety issue when executing a turn when it appears one has a break in traffic and the car barely moves. the car has been back to the dealer and there is no failure code so they say they cannot verify the problem and that it is working as it should. i went out for a short ride with the shop foreman and i could not replicate the problem. he did say that he had 3 or 4 other vehicles with a similar problem. i did leave the car with them for 2 days and they drove it 54 miles and could not duplicate the problem. my suggestion to the dealer and to toyota is to determine what is most likely to cause this problem and replace it and see if this will fix it. they will not do this. it must be a problem they can verify ?find a failure code?. i have asked them to replace the throttle transducer which is $250 if replacing it does not fix the problem i would pay for it. the lack of a failure code just means it is not a hard problem and failing in a manner they anticipated when they set up there failure trouble shooting procedures. *tr
On a cold start, the engine sounds rough for about a second or two. grinding type noise. completely different from the normal warm-engine start-up sounds. also, the engine does not sound right for about the first mile or so after a cold start, sort of a whining noise from the front right side of the engine compartment. clearly audible when lightly revving between 1500-2000 rpms. although tsb-004-13-a has not yet been expanded to include the 2013 camry, it sounds a lot like that exact issue may be affecting the 2013s. this 2013 was built in the same plant as the 2010-12 camrys that are part of the tsb. i have taken it to the dealer twice and was told that 'these sounds are within the normal range of noises an engine can make'. i disagree. the vehicle now has 37k miles on it, i am hoping it will be fixed prior to the expiration of the powertrain warranty (60k). *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. while driving 25 mph, the vehicle jerked. the vehicle was taken to a dealer. the technician diagnosed that the modem needed to be updated. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. the contact stated that while driving 10 mph, the accelerator failed to respond to acceleration attempts. the contact also mentioned that the vehicle erroneously decelerated while the accelerator pedal was depressed. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician stated that the safety braking system had caused the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 700.
I bought a 2013 toyota camry from germain toyota, columbus ohio less than 24 hours ago on 10/26/2013, this was a toyota certified used car with 160 point inspection and 3 year/36,000 and 7 year/100,000 powertrain warranty, was hardly 6 months old with only 8,274 miles on it when i took possession. in less than 24 hours back in dayton some major problem appeared while driving, first the engine started making some small noise but no warning indicator came up on the dashboard, later on after about a mile it suddenly and completely stopped while i slowed down for a red traffic light. i turned off the ignition and restarted the car, then it suddenly stopped again while getting on the i-75 highway exit. there were cars behind me and crossing by and it was a very dangerous situation considering it suddenly and completely stopped while driving as i slowed down a little bit. all this happened without any warning indicator on the dashboard, and considering this is a current year 2013 camry model with toyota certified and very low mileage this is extremely unsatisfactory and put me and my wife at danger. i'll also try to contact the dealer and toyota customer service separately, i'm also not sure if toyota or the dealer had any prior knowledge of the defect or were just careless considering they did a 160 point inspection and sold this as a toyota certified used car. considering i bought this less than 24 hours ago, i'll try to return this to the dealer and if there is any hassle i would like to pursue this further in the court. please contact me if nhtsa would like to test or look at the vehicle. *tr
After making a turn onto a road, before entering a parking lot, my brake lights went on. it's a new car with only 3500 miles on it - the brakes should be fine. i turn into the parking lot, park the car, put it in park, and turn off the engine. i check the emergency brake, it was not engaged. i turn the car on and the brake light goes away. however, now i cannot take my car out of park. it is stuck in park. i step on the brake, i turn the wheel and the wheel turns fine. the gear is still stuck in park. i call the dealership, they send out a tow truck. i try my car one more time and it is still stuck in park. the driver of the tow truck tries, he puts his hand on the handle and behold, it shifts out of park and can go into r, n and d. can you believe it?? i will continue to monitor this 'odd' occurrence. hopefully, this will not happen again. *tr
I experienced an sudden unintended acceleration condition on my 2013 camry se on 08/20/2013. the car hit a big tree and was not repairable, total-ed. thanks to the air-bags, i only had a couple of bruises here and there. *tr
The dates above are approximate as my car is back at the dealership. the car would vibrate at 20, 40 and 60 mph it would also lose power when taking off from a stop. i got the run around i bought new tires had an aligned changed the fuel being used. finally they said it was my tranmission. they replaced the tranmission and did a software update. i am now at 100,000 and having the exact same problem. i am convinced this is a known issue from what i see online i have no idea why toyota hasn't officially ordered a recall! i believe i have a lemon and they should replace my car! my 16 year old daughter was driving she took off from a stop sign and was almost hit from the side the car was vibrating and wouldn't accelerate. this is a very dangerous issue. my car is currently back at pat lobb toyota waiting on their diagnosis once again!
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. the contact stated that the driver exited the vehicle with the key less entry fob and did not shift the vehicle into park. the vehicle rolled backward and crashed into a tree. there were no injuries. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 1,400.
Hesitation occurs when accelerating across an intersection or pulling into traffic, usually from a stopped position. car initially starts then hesitates & feels like it will shut off. to get across the intersection you need to "floor it" which makes the engine "roar" but little action for all the noise. this has happened numerous times in 2 yrs (estimated date & mileage for 1st occurrence). sometimes there are long stretches between occurrences. it is dangerous & i lack confidence at times to pull out. the technician didn't experience the problem when mentioned on 2 stops at the deal for an oil change. torque converter software update made no difference. my previous camry never had this problem.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would not respond or accelerate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 3,000.
Vehicle was purchased new in april 2013. for as long as i have owned the car, the engine has had a loud whining noise when driving 10 -35 mph, always when accelerating. the noise is considerable and noticeable, sounding like a transmission or possible engine problem. being skeptical of my myself, i have driven 2 friend's camrys with 4 cylinder engines i have also driven a 2013 toyota rav4 with the exact engine and 6 speed gear transmission. none of these make the loud whining noise my engine makes (1 a 2012 camry and the other a 2013 camry model and 1 rav4 2013 model). i have mentioned it 3 times on 3 different service visits to dealer. each time they write it off as transmission gear shifting with 6 speed auto transmission. i do not buy this due to every car i have driven the engine's are quiet at these speeds and do not make the high whining noise my car makes. matter of fact, they were considerably quiet to the point you cannot even hardly hear the engine. i know that this is not exactly a safety issue but a great concern in which i am being ignored. just wanted to see if anyone else has this issue as well. note that i am a automotive glass parts supplier & electrical engineer and i do not imagine things. *tr
Clicking when in reverse and appling brakes shifting brake pads ? coming to stop car seems to shift to neutral ( better gas mileage) ? going up hill 70 t0 75 mph in cruise control car will down shift 1 or 2 gears this is the way the car programed . on all issues toyota claims their is nothing they can do as the car is operating according to specs . they tell me the car is safe i have concerns as to how . why is their a noise in the brakes ? why is the car down shifting they say their is a disclaimer not to use cruise in mountains . they seem to have a problems they can`t fix
